Welcome! WARNING: I will not be talkin' about vampires here! Nope, it's all about the werewolves with me at the moment ;)

On this stop of the blog hop, you can win a signed paperback of Releasing The Wolf (Eye Of The Storm #1) from me. It's book one of my new werewolf series, and I'm writing: hot, raw, rough-around-the-edges, British werewolves. (I'll be writing vampires next year - you'll just have to wait for those!)

Now, here's my own take on werewolves: animalistic, lust-filled, a need to follow instincts, but also a need to control all that is primal about them as they struggle to nurture their human selves as well as their animal half. And this, really, is what forms the basis of my new series, Eye Of The Storm.

It's not a romance series. Book one does play out as if it's a romance, or going to be a romance, but please do note that the series as a whole is not. It's a paranormal fantasy that focuses on aspects of lust and control. Romance is in there, but it will not be the focus.

Welcome to the first edition! Apart from my joint blog with fellow author, Elizabeth Morgan, I don't get around to blogging very much nowadays, so this monthly newsletter serves as all the blogs I would do, sort of wrapped up in one. If you want "live" info from me, join me on Facebook or Twitter - that's where it all happens in real-time ;)

As readers grow, I may start to run little contests solely for subscribers of this newsletter, so sit tight. 2013 is going to be an interesting year, with a helluva lot going on!

They're here! Smaller at 5 x 8 inches with a newly formatted interior, and a new title font, these second editions are only available at Amazon stores (US, UK and Europe). The bumper Omnibus Edition has not been altered and is still available worldwide.

Releasing The Wolf has been in the US Kindle Paranormal Fantasy Bestseller List for a solid three weeks! The highest number it reached that I saw was #20 on 3rd January.

On 22nd Dec, it reached #69 on the same list in the UK store.

I never imagined it would do that well. THANK YOU EVERYONE ♥

And if you haven't read it, this is a fast-paced, action-packed, highly erotic, werewolf paranormal fantasy, set in the Surrey Hills, UK. Amazon US Amazon UK

I've stated on my website, and hinted strongly in other places that this series is a paranormal fantasy and not a romance. But yes, some readers will consider it a paranormal romance and with good reason: it's not devoid of romance at all. In fact, different aspects of romance are very heavily embedded within it. But the focus of the series will not be romantic. The focus of the series is on character relationships and the plot, therefore, I don't feel comfortable calling it a romance myself.

There have been a few comments / reviews concerning how readers are confused with the book and where it's going. If you look at it in terms of a stereotypical romance novel, you will be confused because you'll be expecting a solid and complete "connection" between A and B, or in this case A, B, C and D. Well, the connection is growing, and complicated, and the entire series will be devoted to the four of them figuring it out, along with the plot.

So, once more, it's a paranormal fantasy, not a romance.

What will the focus of book two, Cry Of The Wolf, be about? The answer is character relationships (between all of them) and the plot. Each book may highlight one or two people, but those highlighted points could not be conveyed properly without everyone / everything else contributing to the story - another reason why I can't call this a romance. Romances concentrate on a different couple each time, with a definite ending for every book, that wraps everything up nicely - usually happily. Well, you won't have a different couple each time here, but more of the same four people (plus a few others) as we discover who they are and why they've been thrown together. And you're just not going to find things wrapped up all neat at the end of each of my books, lol. Not until the very end, anyway.

I initially thought about making the covers less sexual / romancy, but that then doesn't give any indication of the strong sexual element in this series, hence the covers I've gone for...

Anyway, I'll end it there: not a romance ;)

I'm 15% into Cry Of The Wolf and loving every minute of writing it. BUT, I cannot for the life of me write two separate books at once. I've tried. And tried and tried and tried, but I can't do it. I get obsessed with the book I'm working on, so much so, that it's impossible to pull out and immerse myself in another. So when Cry Of The Wolf is done, I shall be obsessing over The Last Dragon. Then, it will be back to book three of the Eye Of The Storm series, Heart Of The Wolf. That is the plan for 2013: those three books, and hell, I'm giving myself no more work for now!

I have a new (and very quiet) discussion forum on my website for anyone who wants to pop in at any time to discuss or ask anything about my books. It's building up slowly and I don't expect loads happening on there for a while, but I will be adding stuff every now and then. This forum is more ideal for anyone who wants discussion, but not in the mad and crazy environment of Facebook and Twitter ;) I'll be archiving these newsletters there also. Poetry
First-off, my contemporary poetry compilations are no longer available to buy. A Silver Kiss (Vampire Poetry) is, but that's the only one. I have it planned to republish Little Moments Of Truth as a bumper compilation in place of the two I had out, and it will happen at some point in the new year, but it's a bit of a mammoth task and has to be fit around deadlines.

Mind, Body, Spirit
I have two chapbooks published (thin, 48-page pamphlet-type books): Working With Crystals & Stones and Working With Fairies and Elementals. These will stay online, but I'm looking to change printers and hopefully make the books available a little more cheaply. They are workbooks, meaning that you don't just read them, you use them to record your notes and findings - they really are designed for you to "work" with these energies and tools - and they are in large paperback format to make writing in them a little easier. But I do want to try and bring the cost down, so this will be a task for early 2013 between writing my fiction.

As for new metaphysical titles, they're in the pipeline, but I haven't sat down and written them. I may, or I may not. Of course I still practice in this area, but for the moment, it's nice that it's not something I display for all to see. I used to think it would be my career, but I went into fiction-writing instead. I'm enjoying keeping my witchy side of life to myself for a bit ;)

For anyone interested in this, I have a website: Magic Realms. It has not been active for over a year with the fiction taking off as it has, and actually, it's been nice to let it rest a little. I used to be so involved with magickal events within my life that it all went a little crazy. It can be a little like being drunk if you're not careful, having to keep hold of the reins and not let those spiritual beings whisk you where they want you to go if you're not ready (or if you just plain don't want to go there!) ... that's another book ;)

Hello, everyone :)

I've added three new features to my website, all designed to make life a little easier for you and me :)

1. New Feauture: e-Galley
Book bloggers and reviewers can now automatically pre-order ARCs of my upcoming releases. Currently, it'll be Cry Of The Wolf as that is the next publication.

2. New Feature: Reader's Forum
Not everyone is on Facebook and Twitter, so this forum is designed to be another stop for those that want to discuss my books with each other and be privy to any fun facts, deleted scenes, etc. If you are already following me on Facebook and see my updates constantly, there is no need for you to join - you will not miss out and everything will still get linked to FB as much as it can be - but I've been searching for another outlet for discussions, and it hasn't completely worked on Goodreads. It makes more sense to bring readers back to my own forum on my own site. I'm expecting this to be a very quiet place while I build up my readership ;)

3. New Feature: Monthly eNewsletter
I will be winding down this blog. It will remain online, but not so active. Instead, I'll be sending out a monthly eNewsletter (at the end of every month) rounding up everything that has happened. That monthly newsletter will be embedded or linked into a blog post on this site once a month, so people subscribed to this blog don't miss out. Regular, daily and weekly updates will still be posted on Facebook and Twitter, and on my own website (in the Random Thoughts page) for anyone who wants that up-to-the-minute feel. And for those of you who don't do the online thing, you can sign up to the new monthly eNews here.

Other updates:

The Witching Pen paperbacks (the individual volumes) have now been taken off Barnes & Noble and The Book Depository, and I will be expecting them to come off Amazon very soon too. The NEW 2nd trade editions that replace them will be up on Amazon within a few days, and exclusive to Amazon stores. For those of you that don't know, this change was brought on my a commercial alteration to the title font that I was using. Second editions were always going to be published towards the end of 2013, but this incident brought the date forward. NOTE: There is no change to the Omnibus edition, which is still available from all the usual outlets, and there won't be a second edition of it until the release of The Last Dragon.

Would I ever sign up with a commercial publisher?

This is a subject that has been rattling around in my mind for the past 2 months. We all have dreams as kids, don't we? And almost all of those dreams involve seeing your name in lights, somehow or another.

A few weeks ago, I was told by someone that because my writing is very not mainstream, I was highly unlikely to get signed with a publisher. I hate to admit that this bothered me, but it did. That conversation has been on the back of my mind ever since, and I've been swinging from trying to feel like it doesn't matter, to feeling extremely frustrated.

No. I don't write "mainstream" - although I have to say that I'm not sure what mainstream really is anymore (probably not my new werewolf series, lol). And although it's amazing and wonderful to see all my author friends - who perhaps write more mainstream romances, and the ones I've read have been awesome - getting signed up with a publisher (it's been happening ever since Fifty Shades...) it has hit a button. Because the truth of the matter is that, unless I write something "more acceptable", that will probably not be me.

I never say never. If the opportunity came my way, I would consider all my options before accepting or rejecting.

BUT, I am slowly beginning to come to terms with the above fact. I can't change the way I write... well, actually, I could, but unless it's done out of passion for the subject, it would not be a truth, and I'm big on "truth", whatever it is. Your own personal truth. I won't sacrifice it for anything - not even to move the three of us out of this stupidly small one-bed flat we live in. It may not be good business sense, but it's my own type of sense. It's the sense of the "higher heart", and when you die, it's one of the few things you take with you - you have to take care of your heart. If I ever write something "more mainstream" - which, please understand, may be highly unlikely - it'll be because the story spoke to me, I felt it needed to be told, and I wrote it with passion, and not for any other reason. This is a promise to myself and to my readers.

So I will say now, without a shadow of doubt, that I will never sign up with anyone if I feel it will compromise my writing style and the kinds of stories that a small number of you have come to love. I'm going to quote Joss Whedon (again): "I'd rather make a show 100 people need to see, than a show that 1000 people want to see." I believe in that 100%

He also said: "Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck."

I don't think I suck.

Releasing The Wolf: publication date brought forward!

In a bid to free up December from writing / editing / formatting, Releasing The Wolf will now be published on 30th November! Yey! :)

It'll come out in eBook format first, very closely followed by the paperback, which will be brought forward to an early December publication.

The paperback will ONLY be available from Amazon stores and it will be priced at £4.95 / $7.95 If you don't shop at Amazon, please contact me and I will price up a copy for you from my end (I will also sign it), but bear in mind that you will have to pay postage costs from the UK.

This has had to be put on hold, but I'm sorting out signed bookplates for you (an alternative to a signed book) - much cheaper :) I was hoping to have these done for Christmas, but I don't know if I'll be able to have them in until January now. I'll keep you posted.

It has been two and a half weeks since The Witching Pen has been free on *Amazon and other retail sites, and I have to say that the feedback I have received in that short space of time has been phenomenal. To the point where my views on offering entire books (those that are not short stories) for free download has been certainly bent, if not altered.

I do need longer to get a better idea of results for future marketing purposes, so this book will now remain free until the end of 2012. I was expecting the downloads to go into a lull after the first week - or the first two weeks - they haven't.

Depending on the feedback I receive through November and December, one of two things will happen in 2013: The Witching Pen will either go back up to $0.99, or it will remain free permanently.

So if you enjoyed the read, please do tell your friends! And to those of you who have taken the time and effort, either via reviews or through contacting me, to let me know how much you enjoyed the read, I offer my huge thanks - I simply wouldn't know if you didn't tell me :)

Amazon know about it, and apparently quite a few books and authors have been affected. They're aware of the problem and are trying to solve it as quickly as possible, but it may take anything from 3 days to a week.

Writing werewolves...

Eye of The Storm series

Book One: Releasing The Wolf (released end of 2012)

Book Two: Cry Of The Wolf (released in 2013)

Book Three: (title unknown; released date TBA)

Each book will have one overall plot, then its own romantic sub-plot as well.

Book one is looking to be a short novella (around 20,000 words), and super-hot. Both main characters are pretty feisty and sure of themselves ;)

Book two is looking to be longer, at around 40,000 words.

I think there will be a book three also - the last book - and this will be longer at around 60,000 words.

So you're looking at another trilogy that's very similar to The Witching Pen series, in that book one starts off shorter and setting the scene, then books two and three see the plot taking off as well as introducing new characters and situations.

A word of warning: in this series I use more sexually explicit language than you may have been used to from me in the past, simply because it suits the characters better. Think of dogs. Besides the fact that they unabashedly hump everything in site (lol), they are also boundless in their actions and like to approach things head on without all the fluff. Dogs are great animals, because you always know where you are with them - they don't mix their words - they tell it like it is. So think the same for werewolves, but with more gravel and "ooomph", because wolves have the hardened edge (and also a contradictory dignified edge) that dogs don't have, so we can add a potential "crude factor" to the above. Get me? Good. That is your "rude words" warning (whether said in a dignified way or not) for this series, but rest assured, I always keep it relevant ;)

HUGE updates needed! Okay, where do I start....

First off, at the beginning of this week I re-released an erotic contemporary romance that I'd first published almost two years ago: Happy Anniversary

It felt GREAT to put this back out there, not least because I hate having finished stories lying around on my laptop doing nothing. This has led me to look at a few other stories I started writing and then stopped for whatever reason:

1. Earth & Bones was another short erotic story: a paranormal fantasy that I pulled. Having looked through it again, I can develop it further, change the storyline a little and add a plot to make it longer, so that's a possible release for 2013 / 2014

2. I started writing a contemporary erotic romance called On The Night Bus, about a nurse who meets a war journalist on a London night bus. I'm actually half way through this story, and then stopped writing it to get The Witching Pen books finished, and I never went back to it. It is one super HOT story - very fun; nothing too heavy in terms of angst - and it will be fun to complete it... so that's something I'm looking into again. It's only novella length. So it may even get a release at the end of this year...

3. I'm also half way through writing an erotic horror called Through The Water. Again, I stopped writing this to get The Sands Of Time finished (who knew TWP series would take off and that everyone would want the next book so quickly? Not me! Lol.)

4. I also pulled a lesbian erotic short from publication, Glamoured. Um ... I don't know if my current readership would purchase it, lol, so I may put it free on my site at some point. Thoughts? I wrote it because I liked the storyline: a woman in a loving relationship who then realises she's been glamoured by a witch who's always fancied her, and has, in fact, been in a relationship with a woman this whole time. It's a light, quirky, hot F/F read, but so different to my current stuff I'm not sure I should actually publish it!

5. Eye Of The Storm series. I have not forgotten this! Werewolves. Oh yes. This will be written and the plot is good, and OOOOH, hot werewolves (do I need to say more?). but I have no thoughts as to when this might be out.

6. All the above will be written around Project Veil and The Last Dragon, both of which take presedence.These are my main WIPs and that ain't gonna change ;)

Also, my main genre is still paranormal / fantasy. It's just that I'm a multi-faceted person (actually, I joke that I'm multi-dimensional), and there are LOTS of things I get the hankering to write every now and then - limiting myself (which I sort of did start to do, for the sake of marketing and promo) seems a little daft ;)

I have been a bad blogger...

Yes, I have! I'm finding myself with less and less time to blog, to the point where I'm not even posting important updates :(

So here's what I'm going to do: This is my main blog. I need to decide whether to keep my other blogs or not. I have subscribers on my Wordpress one, so I don't wan to get rid of it, but I also don't really want to just use it for updates, although maybe I'll have to. I've got to say that I'm not keen on the Wordpress platform - I've always found it a little tricky to navigate, but its SEO is awesome - so we'll see if there's something else I can do with it...

I like my Tumblr Blog, and I actually get traffic on it when I use it, but I hardly ever use it, lol. (Slaps wrist.)

I think I need to let my Posterous Blog go. It's useful in some ways, and I like the way it's set up - I like using Posterous - but Blogger is still more suitable for me I think.

And that is the end of my little ramble - see? I had time to blog something ;)
