GIF, or pronounced Jif like the peanut butter? Well, my social videographer says it's GIF (like with a J) because that's how the creator pronounces it. One could argue that GIF is an acronym for Graphic Interchange Format and that the word graphic starts with a g- using the guh sound, not a juh. But, really if you're a parent and you choose to name your baby XYZ, you can pronounce it River if you want to... any who, here's the cute GIFS we created for holiday 2018.

One of my favorite things about styling is that I'm never stationary. I'm always on the move, and my office and even my desk can take on many forms. I might be on the beach in Malibu, a photo studio in New York, or in a style out room using a cardboard box as a desk. Whatever works.

Nubian Skin at Nordstrom: Nude for Women of Color

Nordstrom is now carrying the brand Nubian Skin. I have been following the brand for some time now, since I discovered it after searching the internet for a "nude" colored bra that is actually similar to the color of my nude skin.

It's great to see a line offer a range of colors, thanks Nubian Skin and Nordstrom!

Industry Insider: How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks

As an industry insider I work with seemingly flawless models and magicians (the make-up artists and hairstylists that make them appear even more flawless.) And, with the "hurry up to wait" life of a stylist, and plenty of time on my hands during hair and make-up I began chatting with one of the models who has a toddler son, but whose skin and body is in absolutely perfect shape... and here is a secret she told me. She used a Clarisonic on her bum to get rid of her stretch marks. Apparently Clarisonic not only cleans your face, but if you add skin scrub and go to town regularly on your stretch marks it can help exfoliate them away!

I recommend trying Tree Nut's Shea Sugar Brazilian nut scrub in combination with a Clarisonic or an exfoliating scrubber. I have found that the exfoliating and the movement of the brush or a manual scrubber is the key to reducing the marks and also reducing cellulite.

I purchase my Shea Sugar scrub from Ulta, where I typically find it on sale, sometimes as buy one get one half off. I have also found manual scrubbers and brushes at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ulta as well. When using a manual scrubber I scrub in circular motions.

After patting down with a towel, I recommend applying Strivectin. This little cream works miracles, and I have found it on the cheap at Marshall's, Off 5th (the Saks outlet), and Costco.

And, if you're limited on time, and want to get a great professional kick start on this try a scrub treatment at a spa. If in LA I recommend Olympic Spa. After just one scrub treatment, I noticed a decrease in the appearance of stretch marks.

DIY How I Upholstered a Headboard

While thrifting one weekend I came across a mid century modern headboard that I thought would be perfect to upholster. The headboard was flat and had clean simple lines.

The headboard itself was $11... the most expensive part of this project was the designer fabric I chose. The total for this project was around $150.

Supplies used:
Batting
Upholstery fabric
Staple gun
3m Spray adhesive glue

Step 1:

I cleaned off the headboard with some Lysol wipes the day before. Then I took my headboard outside to spray glue the batting on.

Step 2:

I stapled the batting edges down on the back side of the headboard.

I staple gunned the upholstery fabric over the batting.

Once I took the headboard to the bedroom I noticed the headboard was considerably low. The mattresses actually covered a lot of the beautiful fabric I upholstered! It took some research, but I finally decided to purchase two bun feet, or short furniture legs, from Home Depot. The legs were a little too long so I sawed off a few inches.

Then I used a 3 inch dowel screw (a screw that's sharp on both ends) and a vice grip (super strong pliers that latch down) to attach the bun feet to the legs. This added 12 inches to the height of my low headboard, a perfect fit for the height of my mattresses!

Now all that's needed is to paint the legs white so that it appears to be all one leg...

Tallboy Shoes: Wish you were a little bit taller?

I ran across a very interesting shoe line that offers something very unique for men, added height, up to 3 1/2 inches! Such an interesting concept, this would have totally been a winner on Shark Tank. There are a few that look like sneaker wedges... but, it beats wearing a Prince heel.

The Australian made shoe is surprisingly inexpensive and look pretty well made. This pair is right up my style alley... I wouldn't mind my man wearing them, if he needed the extra height.

I hopped on a plane after my shoot, and landed in New York... where I met up with friends and had a blast over the weekend! We had tons of fun eating, shopping, and checking out a show at the Brooklyn Bazaar.

Here's a look at some shots from a recent photo shoot for my boutique. We hit the streets of downtown to bring to life an editorial themed Pretty Woman paparazzi shoot.

The boutique features a flowing, soft, maxi dress in vivid orange, yellow, and black animal print with a plunging neckline, mini dresses that are color blocked with mesh cut outs, banded cat suits, white sheer summer dresses, body con dresses, and body chained accessories.

Pump Room

While I love fashion I still like to post about other things that interest me... and one major interest of mine is food! I love good food and good company. I had heard plenty of good things about the Pump Room located in the Public Hotel... so while in Chicago we decided upon dinner there.

Walking into the lobby of the hotel I immediately smelled a delicious coconut aroma... I later found out from my local Chicagoan friends that the hotel and restaurant are scented with $70 Le Labo candles from Barney's (which also comes in perfume form).

After our stroll through the hotel we entered The Pump Room. The décor was beautiful, very clean lines and an air of minimalism. The focal point of the restaurant is the amazing lighting hanging from the ceiling in the form of lit globes, resembling chains of golden molecules.

We were immediately seated in an upper level, curtained, somewhat private area where we could gaze over the restaurant and have intimate conversation. We ordered polenta, salmon, and fried chicken over sautéed spinach. Overall, we thought the food was pretty bland and lacked flavor. I haveactually had better chicken at KFC. The salmon however was ok, fresh, and high quality fish. There just seemed to be something missing from the food, that didn't measure up to the ambiance of the restaurant.

Grand Lux

The thing about a chain restaurant is even if you've never been to it in that city you pretty much know what to expect. That's one of several things I love about Grand Lux Café... that and a morning bagel with cream cheese and lox. I once missed a flight chasing my bagel and lox breakfast.

Owned by the same company that holds the Cheesecake Factory, Grand Lux really is the brunch/daytime version of CF. Locations in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Texas, Florida... and the Beverly Hills location now closed.

Boa Steakhouse in Beverly Hills... my verdict- delicious! Once again at a steakhouse when steak is not my favorite entrée... but no matter, Boa has great seafood as well. The ambiance, food, and service is nice. Boa is known as a celebrity hot spot in Beverly Hills and paparazzi are typically outside.

Hankering for the best pizza ever in life? Giordano's is where you need to be. Their deep dish pizza is out of this world as far as pizza goes. I found that not all Giordano's are equal however, the ones in the suburbs lack something that the one nearest to downtown's Michigan Ave has.

Walking just off the beach strip, and Collins, hungry as all get out, we stumbled across sidewalk patio dining at Cardoza, I ordered a sausage, egg, avocado burrito... probably one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had.

In Miami, and attempting to satisfy my craving for duck we made a same day reservation for Mr. Chow. I really have to say the ambiance was gorgeous, the crowd was vibrant and lively, the bar was packed, but the food was just ok. Honestly I would have been happier with duck from PF Chang's. But, if you're in South Beach its a great place to dine with friends, see and be seen before heading out into the nightlife.

Later we ended up at Hyde Beach at SLS, which seemed like a pretty tough place to get into without knowing someone, being a guest at the hotel, or having bottle service. Overall, we had a good experience at both places... what's not to love in South Beach?
