Cyber Blue for Tatsunoko vs Capcom: The Moveset Ver.2019

2019-12-28T14:24:00.001-06:00

This was always something I wanted to come back to simply because I'm a lot more knowledgeable about both fighting games and have had 10 years to cultivate a love for this character and the series he represents!

Knowing that it took longer than it ever should for this game to get the shine it deserves with the Capcom Beat-Em Up Bundle/Belt Action Collection releasing and there's no better time than any to put the shine on the game that was the Capcom's arcade swan song for the genre.

Special shout outs to Armored Warriors AKA Powered Gear: Strategic Variant Armor Equipment too! However, you lived on through Cyberbots, Jin Saotome & Tech Romancer even though not most people know that!

Anyway, below is the 10 year revamp of the post from Capcom-Unity which you can find HERE on the blog in all its original glory! NO EDIT GANG!

To fully flesh this out is I'll be making some important changes to his move set for better flow and adding a bit of MvC by adding 3 different assist loadouts even though TvC had a single assist for each character which is covered as well!

NOW, TIME TO GET PAID!

BOUNTY HUNTER STYLE!

NO PROBLEM!

I'll be honest, I originally posted this in a thread that died as quick as it came along and not to see my hard work go to waste I wanted to put my ideas for a Cyber Blue move list in a blog post so someone could actually see the love and dedication I put into making one.

A lot of thought and a lot of gameplay of Battle Circuit went into making this move set for him. If you've ever played Battle Circuit you'll see that Blue stays true to the game albeit a few upgrades to make him more playable in TvC and if you haven't played Battle Circuit then what in the hell are doing not playing an overlooked Capcom classic!

But enough about that, let's get to the moveset.

Name: Brian Bruno

Code Name: Cyber Blue

Series of Origin: Battle Circuit

For the most part, Battle Circuit is a pretty unknown commodity within Capcom. Cyber Blue is of course the main character of Battle Circuit and the best one to represent the in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

I personally think his inclusion could do wonders for exposing Battle Circuit to some of the fans who never heard of the game just very reminiscent to Saki's inclusion in Cross Generation of Heroes.

Cyber Blue is from a beat-em-up game and I feel his movelist should reflect that as well as his character traits of being a well-balanced fighter and leader.

Button Conventions

Light Medium Heavy

Move List

Throws

Cyber Hang

+

Gut Shots

+

(During Gut Shots) Jet Drag

or +

Cyber Hang allows Blue to lift his opponent over his head to throw them.
This throw can be directed to either the left or right afterward.

Blue can do up to 4 Gut Shots before ending the throw.

Jet Drag allows Blue to dash and throw his opponent in the corner to continue offensive pressure.

Jet Drag is only possible after hits 1-3

Command Normals

Knuckle Shot

+

(Air Only) Jackknife Knee

+

Knuckle Shot stuns as part of a chain for additional follow ups.
This stun can only happen once during a combo chain and the 2nd will cause a knockdown ending said chain.

Jackknife Knee can hit as an OTG to grounded opponents. Also helpful in double jump combo situations as well.

Special Attacks

Cyber Blast

Hold any for 2 seconds and release

Cyber Cannon

Hold any for 4 or more seconds and release

Knuckle Blaster

+

(Air OK) Hyper Tornado

+

Burning Heel Kick

+

(Air Only) Heat Kick

+

Cyber Blast allows Blue to unleash a blast of energy directly in front of him.

Cyber Cannon allows Blue to release a blast of energy that covers the full screen.

These moves also destroys projectile type attacks.

Knuckle Blaster is just a simple dashing punch.

Attack Button Strength determines screen distance covered (1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 of the screen respectfully).

On counter hit & will wall bounce and will wall splat.

Hyper Tornado is your basic anti-air except Blue goes up diagonally and hits repeatedly.
Attack Button Strength determines how many hits the move does. (3, 5, and 7 hits respectfully)

Burning Heel Kick is just like Terry's Crack Shoot and should be treated as such.
Attack Strength determines screen distance covered.

Heat Kick is reminiscent of Viewtiful Joe's Slow + Zoomed Red Hot Kick from the games.
Attack Strength determines start up time and angle of attack. does 2 hits.

Hyper Combos

(Air OK) Cyber Cannon Ω

+ +

(Air OK) Super Giga Crush

+ +

B.D.L: Power-Up

+ +

(Level 3) Final Upgrade

+ +

Cyber Cannon Ω is a super version of the Cyber Blast.
This move can be aimed in any direction like Cyclops' Super Optic Blast.

Giga Crush is reminiscent of Blanka's Super Electricity from Street Fighter EX3.
Buttons and Directional Input can be mashed to do more damage.
This move also has OTG properties.

B.D.L: Power-Up is an install Hyper that gives Blue a 20% additional damage increase.
Duration is 5 ticks on the game clock.
Blue does keep the boost on tag out and that increase does power up his assist attack.

Final Upgrade is Blue's Level 3 that activates a cutscene combo to start.

When it's time for the end of the Final Upgrade, Harry will appear for a quick second and this is when you put in the additional commands for the Final Upgrade enders.

Blue has 8 possible outcomes of how the move ends.

Final Upgrade Enders

Hyper Cyber End

Activated by inputting an incorrect code or automatically activated when not enough meter is available to activate a different ender.

CODE: Static Shock

, , , ,

CODE: Rock Tumble

CODE: Meteor Shower

CODE: Lightning Towers

, , , ,

Cyber Cannon: CODE MAXIMUM

, , , , ,

CYBER OVERRIDE: CODE Full Force

, , , , ,

CODE GENIUS: Dr. Saturn Special

, , , , ,

Hyper Cyber End is normal way the Final Upgrade ends if you enter an invalid command or don't have any additional Super Meter activate one of the enders.
Blue rushes toward his foe and pummels the opponent with a string of hits.

CODE: Static Shock allows Blue to get assistance from Yellow (Beast) Iris & Fin.
A current of Electrical Energy runs across the ground doing massive damage to the opponent. CODE: Static Shock costs 1 Additional Meter to perform.

CODE: Rock Tumble allows Blue to get assistance from Alien Green.
Giant boulders fall from the top of the screen doing massive damage to the opponent.
CODE: Rock Tumble costs 1 Additional Meter to perform.

CODE: Meteor Shower allows Blue to get assistance from Pinky and Pola.
Meteors fall from the sky doing massive damage to the opponent.
CODE: Meteor Shower costs 1 Additional Meter to perform.

CODE: Lightning Towers allows Blue to get assistance from Captain Silver.
5 Lightning Bolts come from the sky, electrocuting the opponent doing massive damage to them.
CODE: Lightning Towers costs 1 Additional Meter to perform.

Cyber Cannon: CODE Maximum allows Blue to call on the help of all his friends to charge his Cyber Cannon to do massive damage to his opponent!
Cyber Cannon: CODE Maximum costs 2 Additional Meters to perform.

CYBER OVERRIDE: CODE Full Force allows Blue to unleash the full force of the Battle Circuit team to assault his opponent for massive damage!
CYBER OVERRIDE: CODE Full Force costs 2 Additional Meters to perform.

CODE GENIUS: Dr. Saturn Special calls on the assistance of Dr. Saturn & Octopus in Black Elephant who rams the opponent from behind, leaves a Mini Saturn behind that explodes and turns friend and foe alike into a penguin and then runs the opponent over once more!
CODE GENIUS: Dr. Saturn Special costs 2 Additional Meters to perform.

Other Notes

Blue's Mega Crash is the Electric Crush from the game. I wanted to fit it into his moveset but I felt that might be a bit much for TvC. Would fit a bit better in MvCI because of how that game plays out.

If I could work it in there is I would treat it like Maki's Bushin Gokusaken from CvS2 or Mayor Cody's Double Kick from Street Fighter V where it would drain a bit of health on hit as they work in the arcade games where the moves originate.

I'm glad I was able to work the upgraded Giga Crush as a Hyper to keep that reference.

The Knuckle Shot became a command normal because it is a part of his chain in the game but I didn't want to leave him without a QCF attack so it became the Knuckle Blaster with all the cool stuff that comes with it.

Cyber Cannon Ω coming about was because I wasn't as faithful to Blue as I would've liked when it came to the Cyber Blast & Cyber Cannon. I figured with Blue being who he is that if he wanted to is he could aim the Cyber Cannon and a nice reference to the "forgotten" Scott "Slim" Summers!

In the original moveset, B.D.L: Power-Up worked like Hayato's Plasma Field and Super Giga Crush was Air Only but that should've been a move that was on the ground only if I wanted to be Battle Circuit accurate because you can only activate Power-Up in the air and Giga Crush on the ground.

Download being what it was in the original was because I felt that it needed to be an attack to get the power up to flow better for what I wanted the character to be then.

However, to be a bit more faithful to the games but have it work here is the move became an install on the ground instead of an attack with Super Giga Crush becoming Air OK to flesh it out a bit more and give it that OTG property as well.

All the codes to the Final Upgrade are Capcom references. The obvious one being to Morrigan's Darkness Illusion & Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu.

My favorites are CODE: Rock Tumble & CODE GENIUS: Dr. Saturn Special! I wanted to give Alien Green's a special flavor as he speaks in characters in both scripts and Dr. Saturn Special couldn't be anything but a reference to that because Dr. Saturn & Octopus are some of the best parts about Battle Circuit.

Given the limited button layout is I did the best I could to make sure the references work and diversify the codes so the don't overlap too much.

I did my best also to fit each code reference to closely fit the character as I saw fit so I hope everybody enjoys those as you hunt them down.

I know I had more fun running this back than I did when originally came up with it a long time ago. I'm glad that this reflects how much I've learned about fighting games and how to come up with a balanced and proper moveset. I know this will serve me well in the future and I know fans of either side will find something they like about this.

I want to revisit this type of project in the future to be honest.

One of the things I always wanted to do was create a throwback GeoCities type of page where you used to find movesets back in the day which inspired the look for this post.

With the advent of wikis and the like is I still feel there's a bit of room to have fun with that type of information and something I plan to do.

Again, I hope you find as much enjoyment from this as I did coming back to this rework!

Great to be on the blog again and I have the feeling that I'll be back here a lot sooner than anybody thinks!

Regardless, we have plenty of more show for all!

Right after these commercial messages!

In other news, is we have a delisting report coming straight from Last Round.

It would seem that both the Fairy Tail & Attack on Titan Mashup Sets are set to disappear on June 20th & July 18 respectively.

Because this is the case is the Season Pass/New Costume Pass 4 is going away and with it the exclusive Ayane "Miyama Ageha" costume at the same time the Fairy Tail Mashup Set will on June 20th!

So if you're interested in any of that content then what should you do?

My suggestion is wait on June 13th and see if the the Season Pass or the Fairy Tail costumes go on sale and if it doesn't then just get the Season Pass seeing as the 2 Sets + the stage content cost $76.47 and the pass costs $92.99.

Just so you know is the math breaks down like this...

Newcomer Set (16 costumes) $18.99
Gust Mashup Costume Set (16 costumes) $31.99
Fairy Tail Mashup Set (16 costumes) $31.99
Attack on Titan Mashup Set (30 costumes) $39.49
Stage: Attack on Titan (1 stage) $4.99

= $127.45.

$127.45 - $92.99 = $34.46.

The math does indeed speaks for itself.

What I'll do is I'll link you to all this content where it is so you can snatch it if you decide to do so.

Costume Catalog 28 PS4 or XBONE

Costume Catalog 31 PS4/XBONE

Costume Catalog 32 PS4/XBONE

If you download nothing else if you're a console player is the catalogs for the costumes so you can at least see them if you run into them online.

Season Pass 4 for PS4

New Costume Pass 4 for XBONE

Fairy Tail Mashup Individual Costumes PS4 or XBOX

Fairy Tail Mashup Set PS4 or XBONE or Steam

Attack on Titan Individual Costumes PS4 or XBOX

Attack on Titan Mashup Set for PS4 or XBOX or Steam

Note: The Steam version of the Mashup Set costs $39.99.

Attack on Titan Stage for PS4 or XBOX
Know the Season Pass/New Costume Pass 4 comes with all the above content listed so you get it then you have nothing to worry about.

You can check out the official info about the delisting HERE!

WHAT'S THE NEXT QUESTION?!

WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK?!

Got a nice influx of free time and I've been spending it heavily in the lab and I've got work in the cut so please stay tuned as that work is moved and properly distributed!

Your first step to saving world starts HERE!

Degica strikes again with another game getting plucked from nowhere and made enjoyable.

This is Castle of Shikigami and in one way or another you're familiar with this series without even knowing you are.

Regardless of that is the PC version is getting some translation love and here's hoping at least 2 is coming because 3 has already been seen to with some decency!

WHAT'S THE NEXT QUESTION?!

WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK!

Always cooking and serving! Do what you know and love what you do!

Finale Time is here again and you know I've got what you need!

Supergirl Season 2 was way better than Season 1 and Season 3 looks to up the ante, I just wonder when this'll be officially, officially in the Arrowverse!

The Flash brought every L out and then brought even more L's to be taken. This season had its ups and downs but this was entertaining TV and that's all you can ask for! Question is, "How do you top this though?!"

Out of all the Arrowverse shows is Arrow was the standout this year because it executed on everything mostly perfectly. There were some bumps in the road but the Season Finale brought it full circle in more ways than one! What's next for Ollie and the Squad?!

Empire stays that heat all day long and Season 3 was no slouch. It hit the streets with the 3 B's of bigger, badder and better and didn't let off the switch! Season 4 has plenty of what the streets love and I know the 3 B's are going to be at work when it comes back!

The 100 has been all over the place this season and looking at it from this side of it is that everything was for a reason and given how things ended is there's more questions than answers and this show will provide what I need for some resolution to introduce more drama!

Archer Dreamland was enjoyable as a season of Archer could be with a whole lot of throwbacks for fans given the scenario. I'll give it up to the framing device the show gave it but here's hoping that if they're going this route that they come with something different next season!

We're not done yet!

There are still some shows on the way out and I'll have what you need on that when the time comes!

Stay tuned!

Given that Monster Boy: The Dragon's Trap came out is I was surprised that this just slipped under the radar.

WHAT'S THE NEXT QUESTION?!

WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK?!

Always cooking work! Always getting into trouble! Just how #TeamGRF does! Stay tuned!

Rick & Morty Season 3 dropped on April Fool's and I didn't even know until way after but know that show is still crack and better than ever! Now that I've had a taste is I can't wait for the rest of the season!

Legends of Tomorrow is a wrap and it did nothing but beast from end to end and given that end is what does it mean for the Arrowverse as a whole?

iZombie's back and after how last season ended is this show will continue to go dumb and I'll love every minute.

Archer's back too and I'm feeling the scenery change. Much the same but everything is oh so different! Love me some Archer and glad to have it back in the rotation.

When you get a chance, read this look at WrestleMania 33 through the eyes of Charlotte Wilder! This is an amazing read and it really brought some stuff to light about how I consume Pro Wrestling! Thanks for the insight!

Given this hype I'm now under because this is I decide to break down the trailer a bit and give some insight because a stream is happening later that will be featuring the game.

And then this happened. 2+ hours of this work and this isn't even the stream's full power!

Yamazaki takes on Joe in this exhibition match!

And if you wanted more MILFnessa then I've got a little combo vid for you!

No release date has been set for Yamazaki & Vanessa as of this writing!

We'll learn the identity of DLC Character #4 next time so be ready!

So S-E wants to give me the first 3 Seiken Densetsu games in a collection on the Switch?!

Yes! In my veins! Do it now!

Depending on how crazy they want to get with this is this could be a great thing.

The only thing I'd need is 3 Player Support in SD3!

Not much else can really be done to make the games any better outside of some small bug fixes for the various games as needed.

If this is going to be a straight emulation job then they should get M2 on the mission! Knowing the love they show when they work is this could be an amazing collection!

The question is, will this get localized? It matters and doesn't at the same time. The Switch is region free but the thought of a localized version of SD3 is something monumental if it does happen.

We'll see.

No release date has been announced for the collection but I'll keep you updated as the situation changes.

WHAT'S THE NEXT QUESTION?!

WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK?!

Always in the kitchen cooking these cakes up! Got plenty to serve to you! Know that!

THANKS TVD! NOW REST IN POWER!

Happy 20th Anniversary to both Daria and Buffy the Vampire Slayer which premiered a week from each other on March 3rd & 10th respectively in 1997!

A great damn year indeed!

Daria is still a portal to that past time of 1997 especially when you watch the TV versions of the show and listen to the music of the day. Still one of the best shows ever and you can watch the whole series of MTV.com but you have to have a subscription to cable/satellite to watch it. You can watch the 1st episode Esteemers on the website for free and I suggest you do such!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was and still is a game changer in what a show can be and what it can inspire! Still a damn classic along with its spinoff Angel too. YOU ARE GO!

Welcome to new world of the Nintendo Switch!

Let's take a look at what's out and what's coming!

Puyo Puyo Tetris!

That's about all that needs to be said.

Before the Switch dropped is Nintendo showed off all the "Nindie" love that's coming for the system so let's take a look at some titles I'm looking forward to.

We got the news that Blaster Master Zero was coming sooner than I even thought and coming to Nintendo Switch as well which from what I've seen may be the version you might wish to play!

It dropped launch day in Japan and everybody else will get it on March 9th!

If you can't wait until the 9th is you can pick up the JP version and play it in English if you want.

It does bring up the question as to why it didn't come out everywhere on launch day?

Regardless, from what I've seen is this is a worthy successor to a wonderful franchise and here's hoping its only the beginning!

Coming later this month is Pocket Rumble!

If you can't wait for that then get in on the latest version on Steam via Early Access HERE!

Coming in April and is a timed exclusive and the sequel to Retro City Rampage in Shakedown: Hawaii!

Looks like more of what I loved about RCR so I can't wait get my hands on this one.

There's plenty of stuff coming for the Switch during the launch period and this looks to be something special from Nintendo!

Will it hold to that?

We'll see!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!

Say hi to Shin Hisako.

We'll find out more about her next weekend at the KI World Cup.

I don't know if you've heard but Gun Gun Pixies was pushed back until April 3rd.

QUESTION TIME!

WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK?!

That grind is always what it is and don't ever deny that it being what it is!

Zyuohger is a wrap and in this review I was a little sharp with my analysis of it but it still doesn't change that it didn't live up to its full potential.

There may be hope yet though!

Because the torch has been passed to the next set of heroes...

UCHU SENTAI KYURANGER!

My thoughts on the subject are right here and there are a couple of more episodes before I can get a true look at the premise in action to truly see what this Sentai holds.

Based on the 1st episode is I can see the vision of what it could be but it has to do what it does and I'll be the judge of that!

In other news, Reign is back for the final season and business is going down! It ends because it has to but how they get to the final result is something I'm interested in watching go down!

2017!

NOTHING'S CHANGED BUT THE NUMBERS!

WORK!

BEFORE WORK, A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR!

AMAZING TV!

MOVIE COMING SOON!

AMAZING WRESTLING!

MUST WATCH!

WHAT'S NEXT?!

WHO'S NEXT?!

WORK IS NOW!

THIS WEEK IN EVERYTHING!

SHOWTIME!

In an arcade near you maybe in Mobile Suit Gundam EXTREME VS MAXI BOOST ON is Jerid Messa in the NRX-055 Baund Doc!

The Road to Boruto begins on February 3rd!

WILD GUNS RELOADED FOR $29.99 ON PS4!

Along with King's Rainmaker costume is that same update will include Bullet Club & CHAOS T-Shirts for the whole cast as well!

Looks like everybody will be getting an Ultimate in a future update starting with Jago.

Brand new moves!

Same loveable Carol Tea!

What I've been wishing for is here!

Raizing/8ing DLC for DariusBurst Chronicle Saviours!

Just like the other DLC packs is more stages, more remixes and more ships!

This DLC pack features The Wayne Concern (Brian & Jason) in the Wild Snail from Battle Garegga!

Kaoru Yoshida in the S.O.Q-004 Toryu (Dragon Slayer) from Sōkyūgurentai AKA Terra Diver!

And Miyamoto the Samurai from Mahou Daisakusen AKA Sorcer Striker!

With this pack I do have to wonder what's next?

The only other company with that isn't represented that I can think of is Irem!

Playing as the R-9 in this would make my forever so here's hoping they do it!

Throw me the R-11B Peace Maker from Gallop and the Granvia from In the Hunt with it and I'd be more than satisfied!

Can't wait to see what's next!

QUESTION IS...WHAT DID I GET INTO THIS WEEK?!

Grinding as always! The fruits of labor shall soon be seen!

TV's back and slowly but surely The Usual Suspects will be in full force so what's back now?

Lethal Weapon & Rosewood are both back and hitting the ground running!

New on the radar is the Empire "spinoff" Star and this show is all go! If you're a fan of Empire then you'll find something to love about Star!

We finally got the news that Girl Meets World will be ending on the 20th! Great show that's gone too soon! More on this!

My thoughts about Wrestle Kingdom 11 are at the top if you want those! The short of it is just watch it!

SEE WHAT I SAW!

WHAT I WATCHED ON THE INTERNET THIS WEEK IS NOW!

Shouts to ArmchairTitan for all these impractical combos for a game of the distant past!
