LITTLE WINTER FOLLIES

A play on clothes, fun little touches of pure fantasy: the more the search for form is calibrated, the more the collection becomes a surprising interpretation of pieces, mixed with lightness and freedom.

The common element, which completely changes the silhouette, are the trousers that end at the knee with a brand new cuff-effect, finished off as always with opaque hose. The jackets have straight, masculine shoulders that give a sense of strength to a soft, unstructured line, which is also seen in the cardigans. The colour palette, which includes black, white, Indian red and amethyst blue, has the iridescence of velvet, and is also reflected in the abstract brushstroke-effect print.

Valance and large flat taffeta roses create surprising effects: constructing technical garments that seem as thick as a fur coat, with smooth sleeves (still in taffeta). Just two of these flattened roses are needed to close a blouse: a functional decoration, used also for knitted and low-cut dresses made all the more unpredictable by the addition of Bermudas.

The entire collection is animated by fun, ironic touches, infusing lightness, and which, like true folies d'hiver, allude to the style of the Roaring Twenties: belts that create mini-basques, worn occasionally two at a time; tulle T-shirts with sequinned stripes; fringes; sequins embroidered onto tulle; basques; and jet necklaces.

Extraordinary bags and shoes: long, tambourine-shaped shoulder bags, like huge powder compacts; handbags of floral velvet or velvet combined with net mesh. Flat slippers with floral fabric toes, and shiny masculine lace-up shoes.

On February 22, 2012 Vanity Fair and Ermenegildo Zegna, along with Colin and Livia Firth and Anna Zegna, hosted an intimate dinner at Chateau Marmont to benefit Oxfam America, the international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Over the last ten years, Colin Firth has worked hard, both in public and behind the scenes, to become an extremely knowledgeable and highly respected campaigner for Oxfam.

Adding a special element to the evening, Ermenegildo Zegna dressed key guests in eco-friendly fashions as part of Livia Firth’s ‘The Green Carpet Challenge.’ For the third year in a row, Livia Firth is spearheading the project which asks top designers to use eco-friendly fabrics when designing gowns and suits for celebrities to wear during awards season. The goal of the project is to show design and creativity doesn’t have to be compromised while working with environmentally friendly materials.

Colin Firth chose to wear a charcoal grey, two-button, peak lapel suit with a white French cuff dress shirt all by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Kenneth Branagh chose to wear a navy, two-button, three-piece, notch lapel suit with a blue dress shirt and knit tie all by Ermenegildo Zegna.

The Maria Grachvogel show at London Fashion Week is one of those shows that is a must during the week.... set in the Savoy Hotel, London, the show kick off at 2:30 pm and did not disappoint. I love all aspects of the collection - I would say 40% off the collection was what we were used to seeing from Maria great easy to wear feminine clothing as you can see from the pictures.... the rest of the collection was what can I say OMG pieces I loved Loved Loved the slough polo neck mini dress which for me were the showstoppers.... then we move unto the prints every season Ms Grachvogel comes up with an amazing print - the reason why this blog has taken a while to post is I was looking for the right words to describe this seasons print and the only word I keep coming up with is breathtaking.... I would describe Maria collection as easy to wear for not necessarily women of means as Im sure there are many pieces in the reach of most women, also striking and just ooozes sex appeal without showing too much skin and thats the best sexy!!!

Verdict as always is a perfect 10, I loved all her collections since day one and in this collections the prints and all the gowns are doing it for me!

As part of this season’s activity, Vodafone’s innovation team worked in partnership with acclaimed British Designer Richard Nicoll to develop an exclusive re-charging tote bag. The cutting edge accessory fuses technology with catwalk style and means fashion-conscious mobile phone users need never worry about their smartphone or tablet running out of power when they are out and about. The tote bag was shown for the first time today during Richard Nicoll’s Autumn/Winter 2012 presentation.

Attendees of the RN show were also able to gain an exclusive Behind The Scenes look into Richard Nicoll’s creative process by blipping the Modern Times Logo on the reverse of their invitation.

By blipping their show invite with their smartphones guests were directed to a short film showing the designer in his Shoreditch studio talking through the inspiration behind his collection.

I was over the moon to attend the Oliver Spencer show at London Fashion Week as I always enjoy it .... But I was blown away with my show gift which was a POP PHONE ..... Oliver Spencer AW 12 Catwalk Show #LFW

Oliver Spencer returned to London Fashion Week, on Wednesday 22nd of February, with a men’s collection inspired by a feeling of 1970’s art-house with the iconic persona of a young Lucian Freud.

Positively boisterous with colour and texture, the Autumn/Winter 2012 line brims over with confidence and attitude. Bold suiting and outerwear complimented a mixture of strong knits and addressed winter with vigor & strength.

Clean, fluid lines gave each piece a directness and ease. Fabrications were chosen for their texture and, like mélange, their depth. Footwear, such as capped-toe Oxfords, offered classic shoes you can kick in.

Much of the collection is made in the UK, many items in London. The English-made suiting from the Oliver Spencer Tailored range comes unlined with taped seams, cut in wool/herringbone blends.

The show itself showcased the pieces and was a standout on menswear day... I love everything about Oliver Spencer the clothing are superior, the shoes are outstanding and in his shows I love that rather than use models he uses real people who knows maybe next season I may get asked to walk in the show... now wouldn't that be something!

Verdict: He keeps bringing it - start saving this collection is one to stalk!

Celebrities in the audience included, Mr Hudson, Rick Edwards and Radio 1 DJ’s Trevor Nelson and Nihal.
