Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge is all about shoes!

A girl can NEVER have TOO MANY shoes and that's just a fact of life as far as I'm concerned.

And what is that ultimate "Cinderella" pair themselves? . . . your wedding shoes of course!

They certainly don't have to be glass slippers, but your wedding shoes definitely must be stylish, compliment your wedding gown and be comfortable to dance the night away in. Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge will have none of this "flip flop" sandal business please and thank you. A great alternative though is a pretty pair of ballet flats!

I am so impressed with the new shoe collection from Ivanka Trump, who has now created sexy, stylish and affordable footware that take you from the office to a weekend getaway, the "Red Carpet" to the ultimate runway . . . your wedding aisle!

The "White" collection appeals to the classic bridal look but is hardly traditional with sexy styles like "Aluvia, Asteria, the lace inspired "Diamund" and the satin wrap "Dermani". However, for all you daring brides who want to show off, don't be afraid to rock one of these styles in a hue that gives a whole new meaning to "Something Blue".

Whatever style you choose, do purchase your shoes early enough to have them with you for your final gown fittings, to give you enough time to break them in and practice wearing them so you feel completely beautiful and assured when you slip them on on your wedding day to walk towards your groom.

BRIDES...REJOICE!! I know I have one pink loving bride in particular getting married this May who was fashion forward, choosing a shade of pink quite similar, long before this news hit . She is probably jumping for joy that her favorite color is going to be in abundance for her pleasure (and all you other pink loving brides and readers).

Whether it's cakes, gowns, dresses, stationery, ties, makeup, floral and decor, linens and more, the wedding world is blushing (pink of course) and gushing over this lovely, cheery shade that radiates optimism for the future that is celebrated with marriage.

I love the use of "Honeysuckle Pink" in this style board "My Personal Artist", Michelle Mospens, has created and allowed me to share with you. It pairs it with "beeswax yellow" and "coral rose orange" (I just love the names these colors get...so delicious sounding).

From the moment I first spoke with both of you, I admired your story, your style (in every sense of the word), passion for life, your relationship with your families and friends and dedication to your community. Most of all, I admired, and still do, your love for each other.

There are so many moments that I recall that touched me. I have only room to list a few here, including . . .

Tameca, your first hesitant "mermaid" steps in your gown and Chandra, how you radiated confidence in your suit and complimented Tameca so well.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge here and letting you know I have not disappeared into the city of Las Vegas. I have been keeping busy and had some wonderful weddings in the past month that I look forward to sharing with you all very soon.

In the meantime, just as I'm saying hello again, I am writing to let you know I will be taking a little vacation time to visit family and attend some celebrations in my native Canada (Toronto & Hamilton to be specific), from October 13th-23rd.

I will be back at my desk on the 25th.

Although I won't always have (or want to have) consistent access to being online, I'm sure I will jump on every now and then and say hello from my Facebook Fan Page at least if I find anything Wedding relevant in my travels.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge absolutely LOVES this wedding video that my dear friend Ellen sent me from You Tube.

An original, touching surprise involving the entire wedding party and parents and their true gift of love, joy and for celebrating Life and family with STYLE!

Of course, many of you know this song, "To Life, L'Chaim" from "Fiddler on the Roof" (one of my all-time favorite films). As the song says, "It takes a wedding to make us say, let's live another day...."

I could not agree more. It really does take a wedding celebration or any special occassion ("simcha") to make us realize what blessings we have in this life, even when things are not always so great.

For comparison, here is a You Tube video of the song and scene from the movie. I think you will all agree with me, they ALL did a fabulous job!!

I couldn't help smiling and singing and clapping during this wonderful tribute to family, new family and to the beautiful bride, Vanessa. This just makes you (well me for sure), feel so good.

To the bride and groom, the parents, wedding party and family and friends, what a beautiful memory you created for yourselves and congratulations to Films by Francesco for preserving it in such a fun and touching way.

Celebrating Life on Jewish Holidays-Closed 9/9-9/12

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge wants to wish all my family, friends and colleagues near and far, my very best wishes for the Jewish New Year on this eve of Rosh Hashana (aka "Head of the Year", aka "Birthday of the World"-5771 years actually).

I will be closed for the holidays starting at 6:00 PM Pacific Time and back on Monday September 12th. I will not be checking regularly for voice and email messages and not returning messages until the 12th.

As a Wedding Planner, one of the most wonderful things I have to look forward to this coming year is the blessing to be involved in helping to create wonderful wedding celebrations of Love and Life for some wonderful brides and grooms. Thank you for the gift of trust you have given me to be a part of your lives and that of your families and friends to help you on this wonderful journey that we will all take together:)

A Prayer for You on Your Wedding Day

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge found another wonderful wedding oriented article on Aish.com (a Jewish online site for learning).

This was written by Azriel Hirsh Friedman and it is called "Wedding Day Dreams".

Again, the theme resonates for me that these prayers are said or can be said, by any bride and groom and wished for them by their loved ones on their wedding day no matter what your background. I truly believe most of these prayers are universal-every one wants these gifts for their future together.

On your wedding day, do try and make time for some silent reflection to thank your higher power (whatever that may be) for the gifts you are receiving; love, support, affection, extended family and to also contemplate for a life blessed with good fortune, good health, joy, love, children and whatever you and your spouse wish to make of your lives together.

Here are a few select excerpts...

"On one’s wedding day, the gates of prayer are wide open. The Jewish mystical sources tell us that on a wedding day, the bride and groom’s power of prayer is greater than even the holiest person alive. You can ask for anything! Yet most of us get so caught up in the details of the day that we forget to tap into this spiritual wellspring."

When I got married, I hadn’t the slightest clue what to pray for. Someone was nice enough to make me a list, so that I wouldn’t miss out on all the blessings for a great marriage and life together.

On your wedding day, I recommend going through this list at a quiet moment, right as you get out of bed in the morning, before everything gets hectic.

And don’t forget: Prayer works best when you open your mouth to speak it out, as opposed to just skimming with your eyes.

10 Tips For Attending Bridal Shows

Register online and save time at the door. If you do not register online, make sure you register when you enter. Registering will allow you to receive special money saving offers and receive free gifts and opportunities to win Big Prizes.
Create a temporary e-mail to be used while you are planning your wedding. That way you can delete it when you no longer are interested in receiving special offers or hearing from vendors. The amount of offers you receive at first may seem overwhelming, but take the time to read them or you may miss out on some very good deals.
Bring adhesive address labels, if you have them, or print some up on your computer. This will save you a lot of time when you register for prizes at individual booths. Most exhibitors will want to know your wedding date, so add that to the label.
Make sure you get your Bride and Groom-to-be-stickers when you register in order to receive special attention from the wedding pros.
Walk down every aisle and collect any information you are interested in and take it home to look over again at your leisure. Most large bridal shows will provide you with a large shopping bag as long as you register when you enter.
Bring your credit card or debit card to the show in case you want to book any services or hold a date. Some of your best discounts will be given at the show.
If you are attending the Bridal Spectacular, it is Las Vegas' largest bridal show, so come prepared to spend at least 4 or 5 hours to include time to see a fashion show and visit with all the wedding professionals.
Bring your fiance' with you for at least one trip to the event, then go again with your Mother and girlfriends. Going twice allows you to really take in everything you need to see.
Ask lots of questions, that's what the vendors are there for. They want to help you and you are under no pressure to buy from them, so find out everything you need to know.
Parking at Cashman is $4.00 CASH, there are no ATM machines until you get inside, so bring cash for parking.
Wear comfortable shoes and have a great time!

The Jewish View of Marriage

For another, entirely personal reason, Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge was browsing the website of Aish.com. Aish.com has become the world's largest Jewish content website. Their goal is to give every Jewish person the opportunity to discover their heritage in an atmosphere of open inquiry and mutual respect.

I happened to come across an article by a Rabbi Dan Silverman entitled "The Jewish View of Marriage".

As a Wedding Planner (and a Jewish one at that), this article spoke to me because it's not about the Jewish view of planning a wedding (although there are many books about that including a great one called "The New Jewish Wedding Wedding" by Anita Diamant).

To me, this article is about what marriage is about and how to try and live those ideals together with "your chosen one". It's about what the goals of marriage really are; sharing love, living and supporting your goals together and having a common destination. With that right person, even with ups and downs, Life together IS a beautiful journey and every year of marriage a noble destination.

Whether you are Jewish or not, I feel the lessons are very universal so I hope you take what inspires you from this article and some of the other posts you may find useful from this website on dating and love and marriage.

This is one excerpt that I particularly love (as I come upon 10 years of marriage).

"Which brings us to a shocker: True love comes after marriage. The Torah says that Isaac took Rebecca into his tent and he loved her (Genesis 24:67). Love should grow continuously as your appreciation of your spouse grows.

A friend of mine was sitting with his father and said to him, "Dad, after five years of marriage, I think I finally understand what love is."

The father said, "Wait till you're married 25 years, then you'll understand what love is."

The grandfather was also in the room and overheard this exchange. He told them: "Wait till you're married 50 years. Then you'll really understand what love is."

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge LOVES these fabulous and stylish invitations from my dear friend and stationery designer extraordinaire, Tifany Wunschl of Gourmet Invitations in the Detroit, MI area.

A fun, intimate and personal wedding deserved a very special design and stylish take on the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and Tifany delivered. I loved the way she incorporated the black leather as a nod to her client's love for bikes.

Most of all, the take on the "What Happens in Vegas....Stays in our Hearts" made me smile!

For Love or Money? Plan Properly to Opt for Former!

I don't care too much for money, 'cause money can't by me Love"-The Beatles!!

But money does make your celebration of Love and Marriage possible so it is important to make sure your budget is in shape (from the very beginning) and all your money matters pertaining to the wedding day BEFORE the wedding day. Your wedding day is the time to be indulging in the love of your friends, family, enjoying being pampered as you look forward to that very special moment of saying your vows with your future husband and then basking in LOVE, LIFE and FUN and having a great time.
Your wedding day is not the day to be worrying about whether your florist or DJ or venue or caterer is paid. On top of that, it is perfectly acceptable and appreciated for you to show your sincere appreciation for your wedding professionals who put their LOVE of their craft into your wedding day and offer them a gratuity or (tip) for service that you feel went above and beyond.

Please note that "gratuity" is not considered the same as "service charge" (which is a percentage, generally anywhere from 19%-23% in Las Vegas, of the catering bill for food, beverage and labor like additional bartenders or personal chef attendants at food stations). But do you really need to be flaunting money or bills (or even be concerned about it) on your wedding day? Do you need to be concerned that your beautiful bridal clutch is full of envelopes or your new husband's tuxedo's pocket is bulging from a wallet stuffed with bills. Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge thinks not. That is neither attractive or secure.
My wedding photographer/wedding journalist friends and colleagues from Write Shot blogged about this exact topic recently and they were kind enough to include some of my tips (pun intended) about tipping wedding professionals on your wedding day.

Recommendation 1: Pre-pay all your vendors fully at least 15 days prior the wedding. That way, checks and credit card payments can clear their accounts prior to your wedding.

Recommendation 2: Calculate and distribute cash tips ahead of time for creative partners. Place cash tips in sealed envelopes with each recipient’s name clearly printed on the front. Give these envelopes to your planner or your maid of honor to distribute on your wedding day.

Recommendation 3: Confused about tipping? Creative partners (these are professionals, not "vendors") who own the business do not necessarily have to be tipped on the wedding day. Their assistants and associates should be. If you would like to tip a creative partner who owns the business, send a gift and thank you note, post-wedding. Always include a personal testimonial sharing how much you appreciate what that person did for you.

Also, please do ask your wedding planner (or your caterer or venue) about the accepted amount to tip wedding creative partners whether your wedding is in your home town or ESPECIALLY if you are planning a destination wedding celebration. Every city and every country has different tipping customs and expectations.

Finally, don't forget to allow to budget for the extra tips for those valets, the bell men/women who help you with your bags, your gown, all your favors and wedding personal items and get them up to your room and to your venue safely. The "OG's"-Beautiful Example of Celebrating a Lifetime of Love

Yesterday, Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge was watching the Today Show and caught this segment about Barbara and Harry Cooper, also known as "The OG's (Original Grandparents)."

Barbara (93) and Harry Cooper (98) have been sweethearts since their eyes met on an LA tennis court in 1937 and have been married for 72 years. They are still "Crazy in Love" with one another!

They still kiss (all the time), go out for chocolate sundae dates, to the movies and they have their own website that they began as a way to entertain and educate their grandchildren. Sure enough, that took off to where they are now internet stars being documented by their grand-daughters and they have their own song.

This story, and when I reflect back on my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary a few years ago, it brings home the true meaning of the wedding vows that I am honored to be a part of hearing at my clients' weddings. They are important words, they mean something. They represent the beginning of sharing a lifetime with another human being built on love, mutual respect for one another (and their loved ones).

The vows you say to one another on your wedding day may seem to come quite easily surrounded by pretty flowers and a great party. But I do encourage you (as your clergy will in your ceremony) to really grasp the meaning of the words you speak to each other as you say them.

Living those vows, through the days, the years and the decades; "through thick and thin, in sickness and in health" and all the other things life throws our way is not easy.

"Cutie & Pop Pop" as Barbara and Harry are called, Ben and Sylvia Weinstock who I had the pleasure to see spin on the dance floor at Engage '09 Encore, my parents and some of the 29 couples I had the honor of coordinating the renewal of their vows at the Beth Sholom Wedding Gala last month (that event to be blogged soon) know their meaning.

Whether you are celebrating your wedding this week, this year or celebrating your first, 10th, 25th, 50th or 72nd, wedding anniversary, I wish for all of you a lifetime together that is as wonderful and filled with the same passion and love and spirit as this special couple exemplifies.

(And yes, I cried when I watched this).

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge is off to Los Angeles today through Wednesday to attend an industry meeting for my wedding association, WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association).

This month, our meeting will feature the lovely, talented and WISE wedding planner and author, Mary Dann who will talk about staying balanced in life and work while operating your wedding business.

Mary's book, "Wedding Wisdom" is a great read for wedding professionals and brides alike and is filled with great advice from Mary who has over 18 years of wedding planning experience as well as 10 years of marriage counseling experience as well.

Our meeting this month is being held at the grand Langham Huntingon,Pasadena. I have never been to this hotel but I am looking forward to it. It looks like a stunning property.

What's even more exciting that Chef Michael Voltaggio, winner of "Top Chef, Las Vegas", and Chef de Cuisine at Langhams, will be cooking our luncheon. I LOVE "Top Chef" and watched every episode this past season so I am really anticipating the chef's offerings to taste what the judges raved about.

Redefining the "Perfect Wedding"...Again

My friend and super-fantastic Wedding Planner & Designer, Sasha Souza just recently posted on her blog, Sparkliatti, about making the madness stop when it comes to the "Perfect Wedding" rhetoric & other "catch phrases" that encourage less than gracious behavior.

Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge wrote about this myself quite a while ago on my blog and I can't think of a better time than now to re-post my views and stand with Sasha, and many other wedding colleague friends on this subject. It IS important!

My good friend, Andy Ebon, who is a marketing specialist for the Wedding Industry, posted on his Wedding Marketing Blog, the problem with using that overly cliched term; "Perfect Wedding" in advertising to brides.

"Just for laughs, I ‘Googled’ the phrase "Perfect Wedding". Sadly, it received over 1 million results. That’s a lot of people living in the fantasy land, either believing or creating unrealistic expectations..."

I could not agree with Andy more! And,unfortunately, the majority of those search results are generated by wedding & bridal media propagating the myth. You know who you are!

I don't like it one bit! It's deceptive because the "Perfect Wedding" is unattainable.

Asking for and expecting perfect brings undue amount of stress and STRESS IS a BEAUTY KILLER! Look at the faces of those "Bridezillas" who expected perfect on their wedding. They will have to endure the results with images of their tired, sour, sad, mad faces when they could have been joyous and glowing, knowing their day was not about "perfect" but happiness in confirming their life together with the person they love the most.

I never use the term "Perfect Wedding" in conversation with brides or in my literature. If you tell me that is what you want, truthfully, I may not be the planner you are looking for. I am a very accomplished wedding planning professional but I can not and will not promise you a "Perfect Wedding".

But, I will promise you this. If you allow yourself to relax, trust in yourself, in the tasteful details you choose and wedding professionals you hired (with the guidance of your wedding planner), you will find it much more enjoyable to go through the entire wedding journey, the wedding itself and the next day when your new life going forth together with your partner begins.

And down the road, those special little unplanned, spontaneous and surprise moments of your wedding day; the ones that made you laugh and cry and smile, are what you will always remember as being "Perfect"!
