While I had some time off, I went to Ft. Myers to catch some of the City of Palms high school basketball tournament.  The tournament featured some of the best teams and players in the country.  I was excited to see #1 rated, Austin Rivers play.  Coach K and Duke Assistant Coach, Chris Collins, sat right in front of me to see Rivers play.  He is certainly going to be a star at the college level and will thrive under the leadership of Coach K and the Duke program.  The final game featured the #2 rated high school player, Michael Gilchrist from St. Patricks High School in NJ.  Gilchrist has committed to the University of Kentucky.  It was an incredible atmosphere for high school basketball.  In the crowd was ex-North Carolina great Charlie Scott.  He was one of my favorite college players!  College basketball has a lot to look forward to with Rivers and Gilchrist joining the action soon!

It is that time of year again - time for our annual Christmas party at our home. For the past several years, my wife and I have opened our home to a handful of youngsters from the Sarasota Boys and Girls Club.
They come for an afternoon of food, fun and presents! This year we had a surprise visit from Santa at the house. The kids had a blast ripping open their gifts and enjoying time with Santa.

There is nothing better than being able to bring a smile to youngsters during the holiday. I have been so blessed in my life and I feel fortunate to be able to give a little somethng back.

It was exciting to be at Rupp Arena for the big time match-up between Indiana vs Kentucky.   The Kentucky fans are certainly some of the most passionate fans in the country!  john Calipari's young team was able to hang on and dominate the last five minutes to get to the winner's circle against a much improved Hoosier team headed by Tom Crean. I had a great time talking with Bob Wiggins in the Kentucky locker room before the game.  Wiggins hasn't missed a home Kentucky game since 1960.

It was a special night in NYC at Madison Square Garden for the Jimmy V Classic.  The Classic featured four quality teams; Kansas/Memphis and Michigan State/Syracuse.  I had the opportunity to speak to the national audience at halftime to help raise $$$ for the V Foundation.  A foundation that is very near and dear to my heart.  The night is certainly about great hoops, but more importantly, it is about generating awareness for cancer research.  Please help however you can.  Just call 1-800-4JIMMYV or go to the V Foundation link on my website.  We must find a cure for this dreaded disease.

It was electric in Cameron Indoor Stadium as the Blue Devils played hosted to highly rated, Michigan State.  The Cameron Crazies were out in full force to cheer their Blue Devils to victory.  Freshman sensation, Kyrie Irving, was super, scintillating, sensational - with 31 points!  Izzo's crew played feisty and battled the Devils in a tough 84-79 contest.  It was a terrific college basketball environment!!!

I was in Kansas City for the CBE Classic featuring Duke and Kansas State in the final.  The College Basketball Hall of Fame honored it's newest class which included Christian Laettner, David Thompson, Jerry West, Wayne Duke and Tom Jernstedt, among others.  Duke played outstanding basketball and walked away with a big "W" over a talented Kansas State team.  While in Kansas City, I also received the first copy of my new children's book from Bob Snodgrass and Christine Drummond of Ascend Media.  Autographed copies of the book will be available on my website in time for the holidays!

While in NYC for the Coaches vs Cancer my wife and I found some time to take in a terrific Broadway play, Promises Promises.  We always enjoy seeing the latest musical while in NYC and this one was highly entertaining.  We also had the opportunity to see the Notre Dame versus Army football game being played at Yankee Stadium  It was a phenomenal setting, as Yankee Stadium looked magnificent.  The pre-game festivities featured the Army cadets and it was truly spectacular to see them all dressed in their uniforms.  Notre Dame played well and left NYC with a nice victory.  A very fun two days in the city!

I had a great time in NYC for the Coaches vs Cancer at Madison Square Garden. The tournament was host to Maryland/Illinois and Pittsburgh/Texas. The championship game featured Pittsburgh versus Texas. The veteran and highly rated Pitt Panthers, behind tournament MVP Ashton Gibbs, were able to pull out a tough battle against Texas. It was great working with Bob Knight and Dan Shulman and all the terrific people at ESPN. It is great to be back at work doing college hoops.

I started my 32nd year at ESPN at the Yum Center, or as I would call it, "Pitino's Palace". The building was even better than advertised. It is a gorgeous new facility that was jammed with 22,000 for the first regular season men's game. Butler came into town, hot off their incredible run last season in the NCAA tourney. Louisville dominated the game with its pressure defense and shooting three's. The game was ugly and filled with a lot of fouls, but Louisville walked away with a "W" and that's all the fans cared about.

I had a great time at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas, TX. Eddie Gossage, President of the Speedway, and Kenton Nelson, VP, were absolutely fabulous to work with. The big weekend race was part of the Nascar Sprint series. I had to announce the top ten drivers to the crowd of over 150,000. At the race, I had the opportunity to share time with drivers, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch. The race also drew many big stars and celebrities, including, Lance Armstrong, Lee Ann Womack, and several Texas Rangers players. It was a spectacular event and weekend!

I was thrilled to attend a banquet in which Hal McRae received the Senator Edgar H. Price, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Family Health Care Centers of Manatee. Hal and his wife, Jo, are terrific individuals and we have become good friends, as they also reside in the Lakewood Ranch area. Hal was one of the best designated hitters in the MLB. I have always been a BIG fan of his and it is so nice to see him doing such wonderful things after his playing career and giving back to others. They are my kind of people!!!!

What a show Carrie Underwood put on in Tampa at the St Petersburg Forum.  She was absolutely awesome baby!  She rocked the house with her amazing voice and entertained the crowd with her wardrobe changes and incredible set design. My wife and I were joined by friends, Patrick and Holly Wright.  We all left amazed at her performance!!!  A terrific show!

It was a fun afternoon shooting a marketing promotional video for ShootMore.  ShootMore is a device that can be
attached to any backboard that allows shooters to get more repetition in a
shorter amount of time because the balls are dropped through the hoop down a
ramp that feeds it right back to the player.  No more chasing after balls after you shoot.  It also forces players to work on their
arc and height on their shoot, as the device is well above the rim.  My twin grandsons, Connor and Jake,
were able to be a part of the video as well.  They absolutely loved the ShootMore and couldn’t get enough
of it.  We also had two local high
school boys as part of the marketing video as well.  Doug Campbell with ShootMore organized the afternoon and I
can’t thank him enough for all his efforts in making it a fun afternoon for
everyone.  Look for the ShootMore promotional video on YouTube and www.airborneathletics.com

What a special honor it was to be the recipient of the Make A Wish Icon Award.  The award was presented on behalf of my three decades of work with the organization.  The Make A Wish Foundation is very near and dear to my heart. Bringing joy to children who are battling debilitating and life threatening illness is something I will forever be passionate about.  If I am in a position to bring a smile to a child's face, I will do it in an instant.  I am very proud to be receiving this award because it involves children.  The award was presented at the 21st Annual Chris Greicius Celebrity Awards Banquet at the Disney Coronado Resort in Orlando.  Others receiving awards were the New York Yankees organization, Corbin Bleu (High School Musical), the Jonas Brothers, and Monster Jam legend Dennis Anderson.  My dear friend from ESPN, Howie Schwab, surprised me and flew to Orlando to present me the award along with Mark Kelly.  I met Mark in 1992 when he was a Make A Wish child whose wish was to attend the Final Four and spend time with me.  I created a special bond with Mark, who is now married and worked for several years at ESPN.  We have stayed very close over the past two decades.  It was very meaningful and special to have him there to present the award to me.  I am so thankful and blessed for the life I have and to be able to do something I love.  So anything I can do to help others in need, particularly children, I will always do!!!

Well it was electric at the Trop for Game 5 of the ALDS between the Rangers and Rays.  In the end, the Rays simply could not handle the masterful pitching of Cliff Lee.  Lee pitched a complete game and was untouchable.  I have never seen a pitcher with such command and poise.  He never gives up a walk and gets ahead in the count on almost every batter.  It was a terrific pitching performance.  The Rays had a wonderful season.  Hopefully they can retain Crawford and Pena but it is going to be tough to compete with the $$$ of the bigger market teams.  Playoff baseball is special and I am glad the Rays were a part of it!  I predict Phillies and Yankees in World Series match-up.

There is something special about playoff baseball!  The Rays won the AL East and hosted the Texas Rangers for the first two games of the ALDS series.  There was certainly a "buzz" in the Tampa Bay area, as we tried to cheer our team on!  Unfortunately, the Rangers, behind pitching sensation, Cliff Lee, took game 1.  Before the game, many of the Rangers players, including Josh Hamilton and Michael Young came over to talk and take pictures with my grandsons.  They could not have been nicer and more relaxed!  Also got to share a few words with Hall of Famer, Nolan Ryan.  The Rays really struggled with the bats and were unable to put up any runs in game 2.  Tampa left the Trop down 0-2 in the series.  You have to give lots of credit to Joe Maddon and the entire Rays team for rallying together and for finding a way to sneak out a victory in Texas in game 3.  The bats started to come alive, and the Rays looked like AL East Champions, as they pulled out Game 4, 5-2.  I can't wait for Game 5 at the Trop on Tuesday night.  It will be electric, as it will be a rematch of Game 1 - Lee vs Price!  It will be "Awesome Baby!"  Go Rays!

I had a blast today shooting a commercial for Sunkist Soda.  Starting in February 2011, Sunkist Soda will be having a "Phrases that Pay" contest.  Sunkist Soda will be giving away $10,000 a week for eight weeks, to the fan who comes up with my next great catchphrase. Just visit www.ESPN.com/phrasethatpays and submit your idea for a chance to win. I will be picking the winners each week and the grand prize winner gets their phrase used by me during a nationally televised game!  I can't thank Katie Hale, Abby Miller, and John Currie from Sunkist who were here to help with the commercial.  Also assisting at the shoot was Alex Kanaris, from the ESPN marketing department.  The producer, Brad Peenders and videographer, John Klein did an outstanding job orchestrating the day's events.  Also, a big thanks to my agent from IMG, Sue Lipton, who was there to oversee things as well.

I enjoyed another special football weekend up in South Bend, Indiana.  Despite the Irish losing to the Stanford Cardinal, we had a great time showing my friends from Lakewood Ranch, Holly and Patrick Wright and the Warren Family, all around campus.  They were mesmerized by the enthusiasm and spirit the campus has during a football weekend.  I especially had a great time as I had the opportunity to address the student body on Friday night. The people and students of Notre Dame could not have been nicer as they welcomed me with open arms.   I spoke on the importance of making good decisions in life and having a sense of pride in all that one does.  No doubt that the Irish are faced with a tough road ahead.  They have suffered some tough losses as of late, but I am confident Coach Brian Kelly will ultimately get the job done for the Irish.

Well, we had a great weekend despite some questionable weather and a heartbreaking loss to Michigan this Saturday.  I was joined by my wife Lorraine, my daughter, Terri and her husband Dr. Chris Sforzo (both ND grads) along with their two children; Sydney age 9 and Ryan age 6.  We also had with us two guests from IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida.  They were Tony Ventiquattro with the newly formed IMG Lacrosse program and Graheme Lauriston with the Bollettieri Sports Medicine.  Graheme is the physical trainer for many of IMG’s elite athletes.  It was a first trip to the campus of Notre Dame for both of them.

Friday was a spectacular day and the weather was perfect as we strolled around campus and enjoyed time in the bookstore, at the Grotto, in the Basilica and of course, by the quad near the Golden Dome.   We took in a packed house for the pep rally Friday evening on the Irish Green and the place was electrifying.  We had a great dinner at my favorite Italian spot in South Bend, Indiana, Parisi’s Restaurant as we met up with my buddy, Digger Phelps, former ND star and player with the NY Giants, Tom Longo and former ND and Orlando Magic NBA player, Pat Garrity.  We also saw the new Notre Dame baseball coach, Mik Aoki along with some of his players at the restaurant Friday night.  I always enjoy the excitement that surrounds the campus on the night before a big game and we had a great time.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010 we woke up to a rainy, cold day.  Of course, we were all reminded of the sad anniversary of this day nine years ago and thought of those who so bravely gave up their lives on the day of the terrorist attacks in NY, Pennsylvania and in Washington DC.  Much of the campus proudly displayed red, white and blue ND logos to show their support of those and their families who lost their lives that terrible day.

As game time drew near, the rain stopped and we were ready to go see the Fighting Irish take on the Wolverines.  The campus was electric and everyone was fired up for the afternoon game.  Of course, we all know the outcome by now and I was disappointed to see the Irish go down 28-24, but it was a hard fought game and no one could deny the outstanding personal performance by Denard Robinson.  Ultimately, he got the job done for the Wolverines and took home the “W”.

No doubt it was a heartbreaking loss, but the Irish need to regroup and focus on their next challenge with Michigan State.  Personally, I am excited about Coach Brian Kelly and what he brings to ND and I believe he will have a successful career during his time with Notre Dame.  I look forward to being back on campus for the Stanford game.

It was a terrific opening college football weekend in South Bend, where a new era began under the helm of Brian Kelly.  The Irish looked impressive in their opener versus Purdue and I know all the fans and ND supporters are hoping Kelly can bring the Irish back to the level they belong.  There is nothing like fall college football games with all the school spirit and pageantry.  Notre Dame weekends are truly one of my favorites, with the quarterback luncheon and pep rally on Friday, and all the tailgating before the game. It is always a special time!!

I had a great evening in a suite at Tropicana Field watching the Rays pull out a close victory over the Blue Jays.  I was joined by Patrick and Holly Wright, recording artist David Nail, Vincent Dolan, President and CEO of Progress Energy, and John Heltzer.  The game was auctioned off at a fundraiser a few months ago for the Payton Wright Foundation for Cancer Research, which is very near and dear to my heart.  Country star, David Nail, has become close friends with the Wright family after hearing about their tragic loss of their 4 girl old daughter, Payton, to cancer.  David performed at a fundraiser for the Wright Foundation and joined us in the box for the Rays game!  It was a terrific evening and I can't thank Vincent and the generous people at Progress Energy enough for their support!

I had a great time in Boston for two days.  My wife and I took in all the wonderful sights of this terrific city!  I always enjoy spending time in Boston and of course, I had to make a stop at Fenway Park to see the Red Sox.  We shared time with Larry Lucchino, CEO and President of the Red Sox.  I also had the chance to catch up with Mark Herzlich, All-American football player from Boston College, who is a cancer survivor.  Mark was honored at my gala for the V Foundation in May.  He is a terrific guy!  My good friends, Howie Schwab and Mike Soltys, from ESPN met us at the games and we saw the Red Sox battle the Angels.  We had a terrific dinner at the EMC Club, arranged by Jon Dienstag of the Red Sox.  Fenway is such a special place to watch a game - a true baseball lovers ballpark!

After visiting Cooperstown, we drove to New York City for three days.  We had a great time taking in the sights and sounds of the big city.  We spent a day at the Statue of Liberty, which was very educational for the grandkids.  We also had the chance to see the Yankees play host to the Rays.  Rob Blum of the Yankees was kind enough to give us a tour of the magnificent stadium.  Monument Park is so special and really reflects the incredible history of the Yankee organization and the players who have played for them throughout the years.  The stadium is truly one of a kind and is a museum to all the special memories in Yankee history - which is many.  My wife and I also had the chance to see Harry Connick Jr. perform live on Broadway.  He was spectacular!!!  After the show we got the chance to talk to him and he could not have been any nicer.  It was a fantastic trip and filled with wonderful memories for me and my family!!!!

What a thrill it was to visit Cooperstown, NY and the Baseball Hall of Fame.  It was my first trip to Cooperstown and I went with my wife and my daughter, her husband, and their three children.  Cooperstown is truly a beautiful city and undoubtedly the homeland of baseball.  We spent two days touring the Hall of Fame.  We had the unique opportunity to go into the basement where some of the Hall's most precious items are held.  We got the chance to see and hold Ted Williams' bat that he hit a homerun with in his final at bat.  Ted Williams is my grandson, Connor's favorite player, so that was a thrill I know he will never forget.  We also saw and held one of Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle's bat.  The Hall is filled with unique and historic baseball artifacts, and being a baseball fanatic, I loved every minute of it!  We also toured Double Day field, the first baseball field.  Sharing my experience of the Hall of Fame with my grandkids was so special for me and my wife.  I recommend visiting the Hall of Fame to any sports fan!

My wife and I had a great time in San Diego where I was the guest speaker for First Allied Securities. I had a great time in Las Vegas with my wife and my daughter, Terri, her husband and her two children.  We were visiting Las Vegas for the Kenny Chesney concert.  At the Dick Vitale gala in May, Kenny allowed us to auction off tickets to his show in Vegas and the opportunity for the winners to meet him backstage before the show and receive an autographed guitar.  Mike Conway and Debbie Benson each bid $30,000 for this incredible package.  We went to the show with Debbie Benson, her daughter, her son and her son's friend, along with Mike Conway and his wife.  As usual, Kenny rocked the house with all of his hits!  I can't thank him enough for spending quality time with the auction winners and providing each of them a signed guitar.  Kenny is an incredible performer, but more importantly, he is a very generous and caring person.

I had a great time speaking and appearing for Prudential in Miami, FL. There were over 300 people in attendance for the Prudential sales meeting in South Beach.  I have a wonderful relationship with Prudential and its executives.   Bruce Ferris led and organized the conference, along with his associate Tim Seifert.  My wife and I stayed at the recently renovated Fountainebleau Hotel.   It was absolutely spectacular and it was celeb galore poolside while we were there.  On the premises were Floyd Mayweather, Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, and many others.  The paparazzi was out in full force!   While in Miami, I got a chance to see the Marlins play the Rangers, which was a load of fun.  It was a great few days of relaxation, fun, and work in the South Beach sun!

I may be 71 but I certainly still act 10!  It's hard to believe another year has passed.  I have been so blessed with good health, a wonderful family, and a terrific job.  My life has certainly exceeded all of my expectations, that is for sure!  I had a wonderful birthday, celebrating with my entire family.  We enjoyed a terrific dinner at the Concession Country Club. Sean Murphy, owner of the prestigious Beach Bistro in Ana Maria Island, recently took over the restaurant at the Concession and I can tell you the food is first class!  It was a perfect evening to celebrate another amazing year in my life!

I was thrilled to be the guest speaker for the Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation in Naples, Florida. Eleven terrific scholar-athletes were selected from various schools in Collier County for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the playing field. It was truly a pleasure meeting these eleven youngsters. There was over 600 people in attendance at the event and I was honored to replace Tim Tebow as the speaker, as he could not make it due to a commitment with the Broncos. I spoke for this organization 21 years ago at their first event, so it was a lot of fun to come back years later and see how much the foundation has grown. I can't thank Bud Hornbeck, who helped organize the event, enough. It was a great evening!

What an AMAZING weekend!!!! It started Friday morning with Mike and Mike (ESPN Radio) doing their radio show from the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota to promote the V Gala later that evening. The Gala was completely sold out with over 850 in attendance. The honorees, Tom Izzo and Tony Dungy, could not have been more gracious all weekend.
They happily took photos and signed autographs for fans, did interviews with the media, and most importantly, helped raise over $1.2 million for pediatric cancer research. Magic Johnson flew in to introduce Tom Izzo and Colts head coach, Jim Caldwell, introduced Tony Dungy.
The evening also featured two very emotional tributes. One to Mark Herzlich, a Boston College football player who was hit with cancer in his leg and told he would never walk again. Twelve months after his diagnosis, Mark is cancer free and planning on playing in Boston College's opening day game, Sept. 4, 2010. Mark addressed the crowd and gave one of the night's most memorable speeches. The other tribute was for Jake Olsen, a 12 year old boy from California, who lost his eye to cancer when he was 18 months old and then just recently was told he had to have his other eye removed because the cancer had come back. Jake is now blind and a true HERO!!! He also addressed the crowd at the Gala and wowed everyone with his strength, courage, and incredible attitude.
Mark and Jake represent everything our weekend is all about. They are the reason I am fighting so hard to find a cure for this dreaded disease - no person, especially a child, should endure what they have had to. Their positive attitudes are infectious and I was so honored and proud to have them at my event. The room that evening was filled with stars and celebrities - Kenny Chesney, Roy Williams, Gary Williams, Nick Bollettieri, Tommy Lasorda, John Calipari, Steve Mariucci, Mike Alstott, and a host of others. I can't thank everyone enough for their continued support of the V Gala and the V Foundation. Raising over $1.2 million in one night is a task that requires the help of so many people and I can't thank everyone enough!!!!
CLICK HERE (photos/photo-gallery/photos/v-foundation-gala--may-21--2010.html) to view photos from the Gala
Saturday morning there was a golf outing at the Ritz Carlton. Jake Olsen played all 18 holes with the assistance of his father! It was a beautiful afternoon for all the golfers. Later that day, my wife and I had about 200 people over our home for a celebration to cap off the tremendous success of the gala. Lou Holtz was there, along with Kenny Chesney, Jim Caldwell, Tom Izzo, and Nick Bollettieri. It was a terrific way to end a REMARKABLE weekend!!!

I had the pleasure of speaking for Bruce Ferris and Prudential in Chicago this afternoon.  Prudential was hosting a leadership conference in conjunction with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.  There were seminars all day on leadership and I was final speaker.  I spoke about motivation and the Game of Life.  I have known Bruce for years.  He does a fantastic job as the leader at Prudential.  I was glad to be a part of this successful conference.  Afterwards, my wife and I caught a Cubs game at Wrigley Field!  I even had the pleasure meeting Olympic Gold Medalist, Lindsey Vonn at the Cubs game!  Chicago is such a GREAT city!

What an honor it was to be the recipient of the 2010 Award of Excellence by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. It was a Hawaiian themed affair and it was truly spectacular. The event was presented by All Children's Hospital and I was honored for my various work with children's charities. As the 2010 Award of Excellence recipient, I selected the V Foundation's clinical trial for children with advanced neuroblastoma as the beneficiary of the Community Grant. It was humbling to be selected for this prestigious honor and I was so thankful to be able to share the special moment with my family and friends.

I had a terrific time tonight in Tampa at the Tim McGraw concert at the Florida Fairgrounds. Opening for Tim was Lady Antebellum who just recently won numerous awards at the Country Music Awards. They were fantastic! I have seen Tim McGraw several times before and each time his show just amazes me. He has incredible energy on stage and he captivates the audience from start to end.
Tim recognized me in the stands during the show and had one of his security guards come get me and my family in our seats and they escorted us backstage. While backstage we talked with his wife, Faith Hill. She is such a beautiful person, inside and out. After the show, we talked with Tim for a few minutes. We were all blown away by how personable and warm he was. My wife and I are huge country music fans and will forever be BIG Tim McGraw fans.

My wife and I, along with our good friends, Fred and Florence Barakat, spent a few days in Las Vegas for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley showdown. We had a blast seeing shows like Barry Manilow and Marie Osmond and eating at some of Vegas' best restaurants. The trip culminated with the big match-up between Mayweather and Mosley. We were lucky to be invited to the pre-fight party by HBO. I was like a kid in a candy store with all the celebs.
The party was filled with one celeb after the other. I had a thrill talking with Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, and Santonio Holmes, and brothers Kris Jenkins (Jets) and Cullen Jenkins (Packers). I also got a kick out of meeting Jamie Foxx and Cedric the Entertainer. We also ran into recent NCAA Championship coach, Mike Krzyzewski out in Vegas. He was having a much deserved vacation and it was great to catch up with him. I can't thank everyone with HBO enough for being so kind to us. In the end, Mayweather was too strong for Mosley and he remains undefeated. It was certainly an exciting time to be in Vegas with all the hoopla surrounding the fight.

I had a fantastic time speaking in Topeka, Kansas at Washburn University. I can't thank Garrett Love, President of the student council, and Caley Onek, Vice President, enough.  They made our time in Topeka so great and were so hospitable.  The event raised dollars for Coaches vs Cancer.  It was so nice to see Bill Self, head coach of Kansas basketball, and Frank Martin, head coach of Kansas State basketball.  I had a wonderful time speaking to all the students, their families and residents of Topeka.  Over 1,000 people were in attendance for the event.  It was a super night and my wife and I certainly appreciated the kindness everyone showed us during our stay.

What a Final Four in Indianapolis!  The Final Four weekend is always jammed packed for me with appearances and events and this year was no different.  From Thursday thru Monday I made appearance after appearance along with taping numerous segments for Sportscenter and various ESPN shows.  It is truly one of the BEST weekends in all of sports.  I had a blast doing events for The Hartford Group, Hooters, Sunkist, Anaconda Sports, State Farm plus many others.  The final game between Duke and Butler was truly one of the best college championship games I have ever been a part of.  The passion and emotion both teams competed with was unparalleled.  It was only fitting that the game came down to the final shot in the final seconds of the game.  The entire Butler team and staff should hold their heads high for their valiant effort throughout the entire tournament.  Coach K continues his dynasty with his 4th national title.   The Duke program epitomizes all that is great in college athletics.  It was a very special weekend and a great way to cap off a terrific season in college hoops!

I had a great time hosting a party at my home for the winners of last year's Frito-Lay "Pick Them and Win, Baby!" contest. The winners were selected from the Frito-Lay promotion for having the best tournament picks from last year's draw. All the contest winners came to my house today to watch the Elite 8 action of Michigan State vs Tennessee and Duke vs Baylor. A key person in organizing the event and promotion was John Tatum with Genesco Sports. It was great fun and everyone enjoyed watching the exciting college hoops action!

It is always a busy and exciting time when the NCAA tournament gets underway. I was in Bristol, CT at the ESPN Studios for the first two days of the tournament. I have a blast watching all the games in the WAR ROOM with Digger Phelps, Howie Schwab, Jason Williams, Andy Katz, Rece Davis, Steve Lavin and all the ESPN basketball folks. The war room has over a dozen tv's with all the various games being shown. We sit and break down all the action and just have a great time talking hoops! Saturday and Sunday I will analyze the action from my house in Sarasota via satellite. A bunch of HUGE upsets in the first two rounds of the tourney - that is what makes the NCAA tourney so exciting to watch. You never know what will happen in a one game match-up.

What a blast I had in Orlando for the ESPN the Weekend at Hollywood Studios. My entire family joined me for this special, fun-filled weekend put on by Disney and ESPN. It is a weekend of fun and games at the Hollywood Studios theme park with ESPN personalities and athletes. This year, athletes such as Robert Horry, Scottie Pippen, Curt Schilling, Jim Palmer, Chad Ochocinco, CC Sabathia, Deangelo Williams, and Maurice Jones-Drew were all there in attendance. There are interactive games and ESPN shows being broadcast throughout the weekend. I was the guest on the Stump the Schwab and Inside the Huddle with Mike Greenberg. It is a super weekend and I am so thankful to be a part of such a winning combination of Disney and ESPN. They are truly “Awesome Baby” with a capital, “A”!

Kentucky got pay back last night at Rupp Areana against South Carolina. Earlier in the season, South Carolina gave Kentucky their only blemish on the season. The Cats were dominant last night and now moved to 27-1. They are certainly leading contenders to cut the nets down as National Champions in Indianapolis.

It was so great to see Magic Johnson at the game and Ben Roethlisberger. Tennis legend, Nick Bollettieri, accompanied me to the game and he could not believe all the excitement and passion that filled Rupp Areana. It was a great college hoops night!

It is always fun visiting Cameron Indoor Stadium and mingling with the Cameron Crazies.
This day it was special because my grandsons (Connor and Jake) joined me along with my daughter and son-in-law (Thomas Krug). Thomas brought his buddy, leading criminal defense attorney in Sarasota, Derek Byrd, along who is an FSU grad.
Duke fought off a galant effort by FSU as Jon Scheyer paced Duke to its 5th ACC victory. Duke currently is 43-2 at home over the last three years. The two losses were at the hands of arch rival North Carolina.

It was a historic night for ESPN and the College Gameday crew as we did our first Gameday telecast of a women's college basketball game. We were in Storrs, CT for the matchup between #1 UConn vs #3 Notre Dame.
Notre Dame entered the game with a 15-0 record. The Huskies proved to be too dominant as they secured an easy victory over the Irish.
The Huskies were led by Tina Charles amd Maya Moore, the best combination in the nation. Connecticut extended their winning streak to 56-0. It was a blast for Hubert Davis, Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas, Rece Davis and myself to be a part of this historic night.

What an unbelievable weekend I had in Indianapolis for the Indy 500 race. I was asked to be the Grand Marshal for the parade and various festivities. I had never been to the race before so it was a thrill and I brought along my entire family, including my 5 grandkids. The parade on Saturday was spectacular, with thousands of people lining the streets. Also making appearances were Dancing With the Stars finalist, Gilles Marini, EXTRA host, Mario Lopez, 2009 Miss America, Katie Stamm, and Vegas star, Josh Duhamel.
Race day was simply magical - over 250,000 people gathered at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I rode in one of the pace cars to start the race. It is something I will never forget - we were going around 110 mph and all the drivers were following behind us getting ready to begin the race. The noise of the cars and the speed at which they are going can only be appreciated when watching it in person. Helio Castroneves was victorious at the end of the 200 laps. He scaled the fence and celebrated with milk. It was truly an unbelievable weekend - an amazing sporting event.

What a fun and hectic time I had in Detroit for the Final Four. It was so great being back in the city where I spent so much time earlier in my career coaching at the University of Detroit and the Pistons. The weekend is always filled with many appearances and signings as well as several ESPN broadcasts. This year I had so much fun doing engagements for The Hartford, Anaconda Sports, Hooters, and Fathead.
The Final Four is truly a remarkable sporting weekend - filled with passion, spirit and pride. North Carolina proved why they were #1 for the most part of the regular season, with dominating performances in the semis and finals. Tyler Hansborough has been such a remarkable person and player to cover for the past four years - it was nice to see him celebrate a national championship with his team. He is a winner in every sense of the word.

I was thrilled to be invited to throw out the first pitch at the Rays/White Sox game at Tropicana Field. I was asked on behalf of Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL to help create awareness for their "Miles for Moffitt" campaign. I was joined on the mound by several cancer survivors as well as Senator Connie Mack III and his wife, Priscilla.
It was a fun night at the Trop and I was glad to be able to help in any way to bring awareness to the wonderful work being done at Moffitt.

The 4th Annual Dick Vitale Gala to benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research held on May 15, 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota raised over $1.1 million in its one night event. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Gala has raised $1 million to fund cancer research. This year's funds will be distributed to two grants: one at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL for pediatric cancer and one at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL to fund lung cancer research.
"I am overwhelmed with the sell out crowd of over 750 that we had Friday night at the Ritz. The local Sarasota / Bradenton community and, of course, the basketball community, came out in such a huge way to help me reach my goal of raising $1 million. I am truly ecstatic over the success of this event and am so thankful to everyone who helped us."
Plans are already underway for next years event to be held on May 21, 2010. The honorees will be former Bucs and Colts Head Coach, Tony Dungy and Michigan State Head Coach, Tom Izzo. Tickets for the 2010 event are available now by calling 1 800 4 JIMMY V.

I had a great trip to Mackinac Island, MI as I was the guest speaker for the Michigan Health and Hospital Association Corporate Membership Meeting. The event was held at the famous Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. My wife, daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids joined me on the trip.
We had a wonderful time on the beautiful island - riding horse and buggy rides, taking in the historic sights of the island, swimming and playing a little tennis. Marlene Hulteen was a fantastic host for the event. Over 700 CEO's of various hospitals were gathered at the meeting. The people were super and I was glad to be a part of the event.

What a few days we had in the Big Apple, NYC. I went with my wife and my daughter, her husband and three children to spend a few days taking in all the excitement of NYC. We enjoyed several Broadway shows with the grandchildren, including Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid. We also went to the new Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees plays the Oakland A's. Before the game we got a tour of the new stadium. What an incredible place! It is like a museum. They did a tremendous job showcasing all the history and magic of the Yankee past.
The grandkids got the biggest thrill meeting Manager Joe Girardi and Mariano Riveria before the game. The people at the Yankees front office could not have treated us any nicer. We were given the opportunity to go inside the private suite of George Steinbrenner. What an amazing suite - words can not do it justice. While inside we ran into Giants Football Coach, Tom Coughlin.
We also got to see two games at the new Citi Field, home of the Mets. It is also a beautiful stadium, with all the best amentities. We got to sit in the dugout before the game and go on the field. The grandkids met David Wright and even got signed bats from him.
They also got autographs and pictures with pitching star, Johan Santana.
It was truly a wonderful experience for all of us! While in NYC we also spent time at the beautiful St. Patrick's Cathedral and did a rooftop view of the city from on top of the GE Building in Rockefeller Center. NYC is a special city with so much to do. I was glad to be able to enjoy those few days with my family!

I spoke in San Antonio for Cardinal Health, the largest distributor of medical and surgical supplies in the country. The evening gathered more than 1,800 individuals and was a terrific dinner. I was glad to serve as the motivational speaker and share my thoughts and ideas regarding success and The Game of Life. I can't thank enough Mark Rosenbaum, former Tennessee football player now serving as Chief Customer Officer for Cardinal Health.
Cid Rhomberg was also a tremdous help during our visit to San Antonio. It was terrific meeting all the wonderful executives with Cardinal Health and I sincerely thank them for their warm reception.

Nothing could be finer than seeing Duke and Carolina, baby!
The greatest rivalry in college sports, with the two ACC schools separated by eight miles, was as intense as ever. You could feel it in the air at the Dean Dome right from the opening tip. Duke got the W as the Tar Heels fell to 2-7 in the ACC. Wow!
The Tar Heels were in a must-win situation in my opinion. A victory could have springboarded North Carolina to bounce back from a slow league start and compete for an NCAA berth.
North Carolina played with a chip on its shoulder. It showed that if you play great defense, you have the opportunity to get to the winner's circle. That was an area of concern during the Tar Heels' 1-6 run prior to their Wednesday night clash against the Dukies.
n breaking it down, however, the key difference was leadership and reliable scoring. You knew that Duke could count on Jon Scheyer (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31709), Kyle Singler (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36156) and Nolan Smith (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36157), but the Tar Heels were searching for someone to step up in clutch time. Execution and efficiency down the stretch was another key for Duke.

Greg Adamson, a Kansas graduate, did a temendous job organizing and putting the four day sales training seminar together. I was truly proud to be a small part of the event.

From Cincinnati my wife and I flew to South Bend, IN for the Notre Dame/Michigan State game. My daughter, Terri, my son-in-law, Chris Sforzo, and my two grandchildren, Sydney and Ryan, joined us for the weekend.
It is always so special walking the campus and taking part in all the wonderful football weekend traditions. I ran into actor, Vince Vaughn, on campus. He is a huge Notre Dame fan and a big college hoops fan too! I also got to see my buddy and colleague, Digger Phelps, who lives in South Bend.
The game on Saturday was full of drama, as Michigan State had a chance to tie or win the game in the last minute but their quarterback threw an interception. It was a terrific two days!

What an incredible college football weekend we had in South Bend, IN for the Notre Dame vs USC game. I am a big college football fan and supporter of the University of Notre Dame, as my two daughters attended there and I have a Dick Vitale Family Scholarship there. My wife and I brought our good friends, Fred and Florence Barakat (Fred is a former ACC administrator) and Jeff and Angela Adams (Jeff is a part of the Florida Sports Commission). The Friday night pep rally was sensational with Joe Theisman and Rocket Ismail electrifying the crowd of students, fans and alumni. After the pep rally, we joined Digger Phelps for dinner at Parisi's Restaurant. Saturday the campus was buzzing in preparation for the big game.
Thousands of USC fans made the journey to South Bend and Spike Lee and Will Ferrell were on the USC sideline. The game came down to the last play. Notre Dame came up just shy of the tying the touchdown. It was a super weekend had by all!

What a start to the college basketball season! I was so thrilled to be back courtside with my buddy Dan Shulman.
I also had a blast sitting and talking before the game with Holly Rowe and Bobby Knight. The matchup between #1 Kansas and Memphis was part of the Showcase Hall of Fame Classic in St. Louis.
I was proud to be included in a courtside ceremony before the game introducing several members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, such as, Lenny Wilkens, Bob Pettit, Rick Barry, Walt Bellamy and Cliff Hagan.
Kansas had a real scare as Memphis put forth a gallant effort. But in the end it was too much Cole Aldrich, as the Jayhawks prevailed 57-55.

I had a another great visit to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas.  Ernie Cambridge, Vice President of VIP Services for Atlantis was once again an amazing host to me and my wife. We were joined on the trip by my daughter, Terri, son-in-law, Chris Sforzo, and my two grandkids, Sydney and Ryan.
We had the pleasure of staying at The Cove at Atlantis which offered us a totally new and spectacular experience at the resort.  The rooms were fabulous and the beach and pools were amazing.  We also had a great time swimming with the dolphins and my grandkids had a blast with the new sea lion interaction at Dolphin Cay.
While at The Atlantis, they were filming the MIss Universe Paegant 2009.  I also caught up with NBA star, Kevin Durant, who was also enjoying a vacation at the Atlantis.
We had a great end of summer vacation as it is one of my favorite vacation spots to enjoy with my family.

It was a great time signing pictures and autographs for all of the attendees.
The host of the event was DSC Consulting. Tony Manzo of DSC Consulting did a fantastic job organizing the event. Assisting me throughout the day was Vice President of North America Baby Care, Jodi Allen, and Carlos DeJesus, Director of North America Baby and Toddler Care. It was a phenomenal time and I really enjoying meeting everyone with Procter and Gamble.

My wife and I attended the game with Fred and Florence Barakat (dear friends from North Carolina). South Florida has done a remarkable job making their football program into a legit contender. They got outplayed Thursday night by the Bearcats but it was exciting to be a part of.

What a great evening we had in Tampa! My wife and I along with good friends, Dick and Carol Angelotti, went to see Smokey Robinson's Tribute on Ice. The show featured top figure skaters dancing to all of Smokey's Motown classic hits. His music is simply Awesome Baby!
After the show we got the opportunity to go backstage and spend some time with Smokey. We were laughing and sharing stories about the good ole days in Detroit. We also talked a lot about former Piston Hall of Famer, Dave Bing, who is now the Mayor of Detroit.
The host of the show was former Olympic Gold Medalist, Peggy Fleming. Peggy and I share the same talent agent at IMG, and it was a pleasure getting to see her again. A great night was had by all!

Once again I had a terrific time in New York City at Madison Square Garden which played host to the Jimmy V Classic. Jimmy V week on ESPN is truly a special time for us to remember the achievements of Jimmy and his legacy of finding a cure for cancer.
Tuesday's matchups featured Georgetown vs Butler and Indiana vs. Pittsburgh. 6'11 Greg Monroe led the Hoyas to victory over Butler with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The Hoosiers were able to get the W over Pitt. But the big winners from the Classic are the people that will be helped from the dollars that were raised for cancer research.
Thank you to all those that contributed - you are making a difference!

Two days later we were back in Florida and went to see my friend, Kenny Chesney perform. Over the years, Kenny and I have become friends and he kindly let us auction off at the Dick Vitale Gala in May a package which included 4 incredible tickets to his Tampa concert, the opportunity to meet him backstage before the show and to receive an autographed guitar.
The auction winners were Ryan Carr and Neal Wilkinson with SPARTA Asset Management who bid $25,000 for the package. My wife and I joined them and their wives for the concert along with our good friends Joe and Mary Barbetta, John and Barb Moran, and John Stote from Anaconda Sports. John Stote had made custom basketballs with Kenny's picture and tour information on it. Kenny was so surprised!
Kenny is truly a special entertainer. He puts on a show like no other, but most importantly he is a giving, caring person.

We had a great time as the guests of the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. My wife and I had the chance to spend time with the Reds' owner, Bob Castellini, and General Manager, Walt Jocketty. It was great to sit down and shoot the breeze about baseball with them, a game I love so much. The Reds played the Houston Astros during our visit to Great American Ball Park.
We also got to be part of Hal McCoy night at the stadium. Hal is a Hall of Fame writer who has covered the Reds for 37 years. He is a terrific man and I was so glad to share in his special night at the ballpark.

I had an incredible time being the guest speaker in Atlanta for Mercer University. It was their 30th anniversary of the Executive Speakers Series. I spoke at the luncheon and then toured the beautiful campus. I can't thank my host Bob Hoffman enough for his hospitality. I am also very appreciative of the kind words University President, William Underwood had to say about me during the event.
Mercer University is a part of the Atlantic Sun Conference and is proud to be the host of the 2010 conference championships in March. They are returning one of the leading scorers in the country, James Florence. They had big wins over Alabama and Auburn last season and they are really excited about the upcoming season.

I had a blast in Atlanta doing a commercial shoot for Hooters. I have been aligned with Hooters since 2001. I can't thank Mike McNeil, Vice President of Marketing, and Keith Johnson and Matt Perez for organizing the day and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Hooters is one of the most charitable companies I have been associated with.
Since 2001 they have given over $2,000,000 to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. WOW! Look for the commercials during hoop season!

I had a great visit in Boston where I was the guest speaker for the National Hardwood Lumber Association. It was a terrific event and I had a super time mingling with all the people there for the conference. Everyone treated me and my wife first class and could not have been nicer. After giving my presentation on the "Game Plan for Life", I signed copies of my new book, Dick Vitale's Fabulous 50 Players and Moments. It was a great event and one I am proud to have been a part of.
While in Boston we went to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play the Indians.
I am a true baseball fanatic, so whenever I get the opportunity, I love to go to the stadium and catch a game. Fenway Park is one of the best places to go see a game! The Red Sox have clinched the American League Wild Card - can't wait to see what happens in the playoffs!

It was a pleasure working with Hollie Frederick, Katherine Breuer, and Brittany Tall, the three executives from Sunkist that joined me during the shoot. I am so proud and excited to be a part of the Sunkist team for this fun, fun. fun promotion.

I always look forward to the start of the college football season. Every fall my family and I take the trip to the University of Notre Dame to take in two or three of their home games. Both of my daughters attended the university as well as both of my sons-in-law. The school is a very special place for our family and we always enjoy spending the weekend in South Bend during the football season.
Walking the campus on Friday, attending the football luncheon, going to the pep rally, and tailgating are all part of our weekend tradition.
This year the Irish opened their season against Nevada. Jimmy Clausen and the Irish were dominant in their shutout over Nevada. Hopefully they can keep that form throughout the season.

I headed up to Orlando on Thursday with my daughter, son-in-law and three grandkids for a weekend of Disney fun and to watch the Magic/Lakers finals. Thursday night's game was a thriller, with the Lakers winning in overtime.
The Magic blew a lead at the end of regulation and missed some critical free throws. Friday, Saturday and Sunday we had a blast doing all the rides at The Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Blizzard Beach. My grandkids had the time of their life and I was so glad that I could share in their excitement. The weekend culminated with Sunday night's game. The Lakers were too dominate and Kobe put on a show and proved why he is a remarkable champion.

About 25 of my closest friends in the Sarasota area joined me for a terrific dinner and loads of fun. I can't thank everyone who has helped make my last 70 years so incredibly memorable! It's been "Awesome Baby!"

I always have a great time seeing friends and my colleagues from ESPN while covering the tournament. Duke was victorious, as they cut down the nets once again as ACC champions. Now, the excitement begins as the NCAA tournament gets underway! It's certainly March Madness BABY!

What an incredible weekend I had in Springfield, MA for my Hall of Fame Induction!
It was certainly one of the highlights of my life. I can't thank all my friends and family members who made the journey to Springfield to share in this special time with me. It was such an honor to be inducteed into the Hall with legends Hakeem Olajuwon, Pat Riley, Patrick Ewing, Adrian Dantley, Bill Davidson and Cathy Rush. To know that I will forever be enshrined among the legends of the game, is truly a humbling thought. The weekend was truly incredible and one I will NEVER, EVER forget.

It was great being in Milwaukee for the Connecticut/Marquette matchup.
I started the day with a booksigning at the campus bookstore.
We had a great showing of students and fans and it was terrific talking
to them. Everyone was fired up for the big game that night and what a
game it turned out to be! It was a heated contest with Conneticut
sneaking out the victory. They are now my choice as #1 in the nation.

I was in Louisville for a speaking engagement for the Catholic
Education Foundation and arrived a few hours before the event started
to do a booksigning at the University of Louisvlle bookstore. It was a
great turnout and I had a blast talking to all the Louisville fans and
students.
After the signing, my wife and I headed to the Catholic Education
Foundation event in which I was the guest speaker. Phil McHugh and
Rosemary Smith of the Foundation put togather an incredible night with
over 1,800 people in attendance.
Most Reverend Joseph Kurtz (Archbishop of Louisville) and former NBA
and Louisville All-American, Junior Bridgeman, were Honorary Chairmen
for the event. It was a super night and I was glad to be a part of it.

It is always a thrill to be a part of the Duke/Carolina matchups. It is
one of the best rivalries in sports, full of passion, emotion and
spirit. This years matchup didn't disappoint. Duke took the lead at
half but North Carolina proved too strong in the second half. The Heels
Ty Lawson was sensational and was unstoppable at the end of the game.

What a thrill I had at my first visit to Davidson College. I was so
impressed with the campus and the student body. I had a blast! The game
certainly didn't disappoint either. Davidson had a 27 game home win
streak and 43 straight Southern Conference regular season wins until
Bobby Cremins and Charleston walked away with the victory.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Steelers vs. Cardinals match-up at the Super Bowl in Tampa.
It was one of the most exciting and thrilling football games I have
ever witnessed. Both teams fought their hardest and left everything
they had out on the field. Ben Roethlisberger was sensational in
marching his team down the field with under two minutes to score the
winning touchdown. Hats off to both teams for a remarkable performance
under such a pressure situation.

I had a blast in Knoxville as the Vols enjoyed a super performance against the Gators.
The fans were rockin' and rolling to the tunes of Rocky Top.
I even had my shot conducting the band! It was awesome, baby, with a capital A!

I was proud to be a part of Verizon Wireless' Kickoff Meeting in
Orlando, FL. I was the guest motivational speaker and I had a blast
meeting some of the executives with Verizon Wireless and their staff.
Over 1,700 people were gathered for the event. After the event, I
made a quick drive to the University of Central Florida for a campus
booksigning for my new book, Dick Vitale's Fabulous 50 Players and
Moments.
We had a terrific turnout and as always, I loved spending time with the fans and students.

It was a great atmposhere in South Bend, IN where the Irish played
host to Connecticut. Notre Dame was trying to extend its longest home
court winning streak in the country (45 in a row) , but the Huskies
athleticism was the difference and they dominated the second half to
pull away from the Irish.
It was a great festive weekend because Gameday was on campus - host
Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Hubert Davis, Erin Andrews and former ND coach,
Digger Phelps were all on hand. Digger had the students all excited, as
he spoke to the various dorms prior to the game. It was a very
passionate crowd.

I had a terrific time in Chapel Hill, NC for the UNC/Miami game. I
was so glad that my twin 6 year old grandsons, Connor and Jake, and my
daughter and son-in-law were able to join me for the game. Miami
started hot in the first half and jumped to a 9 point lead. But the Tar
Heels showed why they are so tough and dominated the second half. In
the end the Tar Heels were just too much for the Hurricanes.
My grandsons had such a great time on the UNC campus, visiting the
Basketball Museum and even getting to meet Tyler Hansborough after the
game.

I just had a great time speaking in Orlando for Forward Air.
President, Bruce Campbell, VP, Chris Rubil, Craig Drum and
Administrative Assistant, Richard Denhart did a spectacular job and the
event was truly first class.
It was fun getting to spend some time with all the terrific people
at the event and getting to share some of my motivational thoughts and
insights. It has been a very busy week and I have had the pleasure of
meeting some really interesting people along my travels.

What a blast I had in Nashville, TN - the home of country music. My
wife and I, along with our friends Bob and Beverly Neville, attended
the Grand Ole Opry at the original site of the Ryman Theatre. I was
proud to be introduced at the show and have some photo opportunities
with Loretta Lynn, the heart and soul of country music.
Earlier in the day, we attended the Titans/Ravens football playoff
game. It was a tough day for the Titans, as the Ravens march on to
play for the right to go to the Super Bowl. While in Nashville, I was
the guest speaker for Advisors Excel. Owners, Cody Foster, David
Callanan and Derek Thompson could not have been nicer.
It was a terrific event and they surprised me with a very generous
donation of $88,000 to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. What a
wonderful way to conclude an incredible two days! From here we are
traveling to Orlando for another speaking engagement for Forward Air.

I had a blast doing the Denver Nuggets vs Miami Heat game in Denver.
It was my first NBA game since 1984. I had the chance to see so many
players that I covered on the collegiate level such as Dwayne Wade,
Chauncey Billups, and Kenyon Martin. Unfortunately, Carmelo Anthony was
out with a broken hand.
Earlier in the day in Denver, I had a booksigning at the Tattered
Cover Book Store and it was great talking with all the fans from
Denver. My sister, Terry, lives in Denver and is publisher of a
magazine, Colorado Expression. I had a chance to spend some time with
her and my nephew Todd and his three boys.
Calling the NBA game was exciting and the level of play is simply
remarkable, but I can't wait to get back to all the pagentry and
excitement of the collegiate scene.
