When Twitter did a recent redesign of their site, they unveiled a new bird logo that was a bit happier than the old bird.
Since then, an artist named Adam Koford (aka Ape Lad) has been creating custom avatars for his twitter account that use the same shape as the Twitter bird, but in interesting and unique ways.

Just one year ago, Ken Block debuted what is still one of the most amazing pieces of automotive art ever created: Gymkhana Practice.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the video, DC Shoes teamed up with YouTube sensation Marina from Hot For Words to explain Gymkhana, and while it lacks the tire smoke of the first video, it does make up for it with gratuitous eye candy:
Lucas Martell must have been channeling some serious Pixar vibes when he worked on his latest short, because Pigeon: Impossible is an impressive piece of animation.
The story is about a rookie secret agent who faces with a problem seldom covered in basic training: what to do when a curious pigeon gets trapped inside your multi-million dollar, government-issued nuclear briefcase.

MIMOBOT and Infectious are both DYH favorites, so when the two team up for a design contest (featured previously on DYH) you know the results are going to be impressive.
In the end, 666 entries were submitted (seriously!) but it was Hila Rosenberg Arazi and her GiddyUp design that took home the grand prize of an Infectious Prize Pack and $1000 cash.
Look for her design to show up in MIMOBOT form in early 2010.

Colour My World is a beautiful game that puts you in control of a stick figure and his quest to meet up with the girl at the coffee shop. To get there, you must run through a hand-drawn world and return color to it by clicking your mouse on shiny things and solving puzzles along the way.
It’s definitely not the most challenging game, but it is fun to play, and the visual style is very unique, so give it a try and see if you can colour the world.

Ricardo Autobahn’s The Golden Age of Video is amazing. He took clips from various movies (and a few TV shows) and mashed them into a song, but gave it a beat and lyrics that border on actually making sense, so that what you end up with is a video that could fool you into thinking it was music.

Frankie Flood makes pizza cutters that are unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

My pizza cutters seek to demolish the sterile conformity of mass produced objects and represent the stylistic and flamboyant embellishment of groups who live on the fringe of popular culture. My machined pizza cutters draw inspiration from chopper motorcycles and attempt to reclaim the mythology and economic usefulness of the American worker as patriarch; translating machine or functional object into flesh and blood. Kyle Cassidy gave twenty-three people scattered around the U.S. cameras and told them to wear them everywhere. Then, over a 48-hour period, he sent out eleven text messages to the group asking them to take a picture of whatever happened to be in front of them at the time.
The result is The Hive, a collection of “the quiet, unknown moments that make up our lives”, and a unique and interesting look into the otherwise bland and banal moments that we fill our days with. Take them as a whole and with a bit of structure attached however, and those moments begin to turn into something that’s bold, beautiful and uniquely interesting.

Treasure World from Aspyr for the Nintendo DS is an interesting new way to look at gaming.
To play, you take your DS out into the wild and roam the streets looking for star dust. In this case, star dust can be gathered from the Wi-Fi signals that are all around you, and each one unlocks a special treasure chest that is filled with goodies. Just turn the game on, wander around an area with lots of unique signals, and the game will tick off rewards like a pinball machine on overdrive.
Once you return home, the game will reward your adventure with costumes for your character and decorations for your world. Then, in another interesting twist, you can arrange those decorations in any way that you’d like, and your world becomes a 32-note music tracker, allowing you to create and share songs by just placing things in various locations.
Overall, I’m impressed with what Aspyr has done with the concept. They’ve managed to trick kids into playing outside by rewarding them with trinkets and toys, and then have turned them into composers with a unique music machine that encourages experimentation and sharing. Well done!
