Rob Poulos rehashes the tired notion that reducing caloric intake and exercising more helps you lose weight. Well, duh! It's called starvation.

He then recommends the usual combination of tasteless overly-lean meats with "friendly carbs" such as brown rice, whole grains, and scads of vegetables. Naturally, so he can sell this to vegetarians, he even pushes soy, which due to its estrogenic properties, is probably the worst thing to eat if you're trying to put on muscle.

He then goes on to detail his weight routine, which is nothing special. The supplemental material is equally predictable. The collection of smoothie recipes is absolutely terrible, as most of the recipes are so sugar-laden, you'd probably be better off drinking a Coke.

Naturally, the only eating programs I recommend for dropping weight are The Steak Lovers' Diet or if you need more meal variety, Neanderthin or The Paleo Diet .

For the weight routine, a better one can be had for free at StrongLifts.com , and you'll find it's more challenging and well-rounded than Poulos's routine.

For the bodyweight exercises, a better selection can be had by visiting BernarrMacfadden.com and downloading 10 Minutes a Day for Health . Just remember to "keepfit" once you've downloaded it.

The problem is most exercise books are focused on doing stuff that is — let me be totally honest here — hard work.

And the problem here is while we all realize that we could be fitter, if you're anything like me, then the idea of all that hard work just to get a little more tone doesn't seem worth it.

That's why I love this new book I've been reading, Exercise Without Effort . At first I thought the title made the book seem slightly crazy. After all, exercise means working your body, and that equates to effort... or so I thought.

What I discovered was there are lots of things I'm already doing every day that represent a good exercise workout. Chances are, you're not even aware you're doing them.

This book shows all of the things you're already doing that naturally burn off calories without joining a gym, taking up marathon running, or training for a decathalon. None of it is difficult or complicated. In fact, the best part of most of these exercises is that you don't realize you're exercising at all, making the idea of "workout" totally irrelevant. You'll be surprised just how much energy you can burn off without even realizing it.

Another advantage to Exercise Without Effort is the cost. None of the exercises require any special equipment or enrollment in an expensive health club. Because the focus is on taking exercise in a reasonably relaxed and laid-back manner, there is little danger of injuring or straining yourself. That makes it perfect for people of all ages and conditions, although you should always check with your doctor before starting any new fitness regimen.

Do you keep saying you're too busy to exercise? So is everyone else! Nothing here takes more than a few minutes, so you can squeeze exercise into any spare moments you have.

With this book, there are no more excuses, because you've never seen exercise made this easy in your life. Plus, I was able to get a deal where I can sell this book for a mere $4.95 U.S.!

If you decide Exercise Without Effort doesn't work for you, or you aren't completely satisfied with your purchase within 8 weeks, then I'll refund every penny with no questions asked.

If you are, many individuals prefer to do their own, at-home exercise programs. If you're one of these people, you may be interested in buying workout videos, which are a great addition to any weight loss program.

Although you may have purchased workout videos before, have you even done so when seriously trying to lose weight? Regular exercise videos are ofent different than exercise videos used as a part of a weight loss plan, which is why you should shop for them differently.

When it comes to buying exercise videos for yourself, there are number of important factors that you may want to take into consideration. These factors will make buying exercise videos for yourself easier, ensuring you choose the exercise video or videos that are best for you and your own personal needs. A few of the things you should consider when buying an exercise video are outlined below.

The first thing to consider is the type of exercises that you want to do. For instance, you often get to choose between traditional aerobic videos, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and so forth. To spice up your weight loss plan and to keep it fun and exciting, you may want to think about buying a collection of exercise videos to keep it interesting and add variation to your workouts. A good starting option is to get one aerobic video and one strength training video. Alternating between these two produces great results for most people.

Another factor is difficulty. What you need to remember is that many workout videos come in sessions. For instance, it is possible to find kickboxing videos that are designed for beginners, those at the intermediate level, as well as those at an advanced level. You want to make sure that you choose the right video for yourself. If you're not careful, you may end up with an advanced workout video where you can't keep up with the instructor. Trying this can lead to frustration and most people simply give up at this point.

Cost is another issue. In your search for exercise videos, you'll find a wide range of prices. Some are affordable, others are a little bit more costly, and many are downright expensive. One way to help make sure that you are spending your money wisely is to search for exercise video reviews online. This can often be done with a standard Internet search.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many that you may want to take into consideration when buying exercise videos to incorporate into your at-home weight loss program. Most times, you will find any exercise video is better than no video at all, but taking the time to find the perfect one(s) will likely make your weight loss program much more enjoyable.

Many people report the between-meal hunger pangs they used to experience fade away very quickly. This makes it easier to stay on the diet and continue to lose weight. While other diets have their followers starving between meals, low-carb diets with their specific combination of foods and ingredients have powerful appetite-suppressing effects.

The first key component is the amount of protein. Protein, more so than carbohydrates, has the power to satiate hunger. If you've ever eaten a carbohydrate-heavy meal and then felt hungry afterward (for example, Chinese food, which is mostly rice), you know that carbohydrates don't have much staying power. Protein combined with healthy fats can keep you feeling full for longer periods of time.

One of the most powerful appetite-suppressing foods is eggs. Eggs are a great form of quick and easy protein. A recent study showed that eating eggs for breakfast could actually ward off hunger pangs for the rest of the day. The research concerned two groups of women. One group ate eggs for breakfast and the other had a breakfast of bagels and cream cheese. The calorie count for both breakfasts was equal. The subjects kept track of what they ate the rest of the day and answered questions about their levels of hunger and satisfaction throughout the day. The results showed that the women who ate the eggs for breakfast felt more satisfied throughout the entire day and ate less at later meals than the women who were in the bagel group.

Broccoli and cauliflower, two of the most acceptable vegetables, also have appetite-suppressing effects. These vegetables contain both protein (broccoli: 6g/cup; cauliflower: 3g/cup) and fiber (both: 3g/cup), creating a sense of bulk and fullness. Your body will reduce its appetite because it believes your stomach is full of high-calorie foods.

With high-carbohydrate diets, you are riding the wave of carbohydrate-induced highs and lows. After you eat, you feel energetic and full. Then, a few hours later, you come crashing down and are hungry again, sometimes even hungrier than you were before eating. This cycle continues and, over time, you will eat more and gain weight. As someone who spent two months on Pritikin, I can attest that most of my free time was spent between the kitchen (to find more food) and the bathroom (to deal with all the fiber).

The protein, fat, and vegetable meals of low-carb plans balance out your blood sugar, with just enough carbohydrates to provide quick carbohydrate energy. The high protein content gives the meal staying power, and the combination helps suppress your appetite.
