Tralasciando le facili battute sul nome (molto simile a quello di un famoso detersivo), la &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;dieta dash&lt;/span&gt; (acronimo di Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) nasce con lo specifico intento di combattere &lt;a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipertensione_arteriosa_sistemica" rel="nofollow"&gt;l'ipertensione&lt;/a&gt; e la pre-ipertensione, semplicemente seguendo un determinato regime alimentare, basato su una maggiore assunzione di  frutta e verdura, ed una drastica diminuzione dell'assunzione di sodio, grassi e zuccheri.&lt;br /&gt;
Lo studio è stato condotto dal &lt;a href="http://www.nih.gov" rel="nofollow"&gt;National Institutes of Health &lt;/a&gt;(NIH) ed ha dimostrato che si può abbassare la pressione sanguigna nel giro di due sole settimane. I migliori risultati sono stati ottenuti su persone con una pressione moderatamente alta, incluse quelle con pre-ipertensione. Per chi avesse una forma di ipertensione più severa, e quindi non in grado di poter sospendere le cure medicinali, la &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;dieta dash&lt;/span&gt; si è comunque dimostrata utile nell'aiutare ad abbassare la pressione sanguigna.&lt;br /&gt;
Inoltre può aiutare a  diminuire il livello di colesterolo ed unita ad una perdita di peso e a degli esercizi fisici, può anche diminuire la &lt;a href="http://www.eurosalus.com/notizie/ultime/buonumore-a-rischio-quando-i-carboidrati-sono-troppi.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;resistenza insulinica&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;
Altri benefici osservati sono la diminuzione del rischio di infarto ed un certo livello di prevenzione contro vari tipi di cancro.&lt;br /&gt;
