This diet recommends eating grapefruit to help start the fat burning process. The idea is for individuals to eat foods high in fat to limit hunger. The individual is encouraged to eat until they feel full. Exercise is at the center of this diet because of its health benefits. With this diet, an individual&#8217;s risk for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer is reduced, along with that individual&#8217;s goal for weight loss.</p>

<p>The first low carb diet is the Atkins Diet. The theory behind Atkins diet is controlling carbohydrates, or “proactive nutrition”. Atkins diet promises people to lose weight, not be hungry, better heart health, and better memory. This diet is based on the idea that people who are overweight eat too many carbohydrates. Our bodies use fat and carbohydrates for energy, with carbohydrates being used first. With fewer carbohydrates our bodies will burn off stored fat allowing us to lose weight. The Atkins diet plan sets few limits on amount of food eaten, however it restricts the kind of food allowed; example no refined sugar, milk, white rice, or white flour. The plan allows people to eat rich foods; example meat, eggs cheese etc. Individuals are eating almost pure protein and fat. Individuals can eat red meat, fish, poultry, regular cheese, cook with butter, eat mayonnaise, and olive oil. Carbohydrates are restricted (20 grams per day minus fiber) for the first two weeks. This equals three cups of salad or two cups of salad with two thirds cup of certain cooked vegetables each day. There are no exceptions to these rules. Later carbohydrate allowance increases in the form of fiber. These are permanently gone. Individuals can add fruits, vegetables, and whole grain foods after first two weeks. Then individuals transitions from weight loss to weight maintenance as carbohydrates are increased.  Exercise is emphasized in all parts.</p>

<p>They recommend that an individual burn as many calories as an individual takes in. Each individual should start by knowing how many calories they need per day, and do not eat more calories than an individual can use up. Set a goal to do moderate physical activity for thirty minutes each day this will help maintain a healthy weight. If thirty minutes at a time is impossible, do it in ten minute sets.</p>
<p>They recommend that an individual should eat a variety of foods from all the food groups. Eating foods from all food groups is what makes a balanced healthy diet. Choosing foods like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low fat or fat free dairy products, and eating fish twice a week will help create a balanced diet.</p>
<p>They recommend that an individuals should eat less of the unhealthy foods. Individuals should read the label of food products and choose items that are low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and sodium. These foods will be part of a healthy diet.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Cheater’s Diet is a diet program designed to help individuals indulge in their favorite foods. The idea behind this diet is that when people diet they tend to cheat by eating foods not on the plan. However, with this diet there is a time of eating whatever foods the individual wants built right in. On Monday thru Friday individuals are expected to eat healthy, well portioned meals, but on Saturday and Sunday individuals can eat whatever foods they choose with no restrictions. The diet program also recommends some supplements, however the supplements are not needed to lose weight with this diet.</p>
<p>With this diet program during the week, individuals eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, low fat dairy, peanuts, and unsaturated fats. Individuals are also encouraged to get as much exercise in as they can. Individuals can enjoy three meals and two snacks during the week. To balance the meals, they should have one half plate full of fruits or vegetables, one quarter lean protein, and one quarter whole grain. Individuals are taught how to visually determine a portion size, for example a serving of protein is about the size of a deck of cards.</p>
<p>During the weekend, this diet program provides an opportunity to eat any food the individual wants between nine o’clock in the morning on Saturday and nine o’clock in the evening on Sunday. Individuals can eat pizza, wine, ice cream, chocolate, peanut butter, cinnamon buns, strawberry shortcake, cheese, bread, meat, nuts etc. The only caution that is provided is that individuals should avoid foods that trigger binge eating.</p>
<p>The theory behind this diet program is that under eating tends to drop an individuals metabolism. By overeating on the weekend, an individual can boost their metabolism enough to have it continue through out the entire week. This will keep that individual from yo-yo dieting between the week days and the weekend.</p>

<p>The dr. phil diet plan is all about high yield high response foods. These are the foods that take awhile to prepare, take awhile to eat, and are not convenient. These kinds of foods have lots nutrients and include colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grains, eggs, fish, lean meats, legumes, tofu, non fat milk products, soy products, water, herbal teas, and soups. The diet plan also advocates using meal replacement bars and shakes when individuals are tired and stressed. But they should not be used all the time.</p>
