Killing Your Cravings with the Insanity Workout

Goodness it's so hard trying to give up as much sweets as possible. In a matter of a week, I gave up all the Kitkats, M&M peanuts (OMG SO YUMMY!), Recess cups, Gum, Soda (I'm going to really miss you Canada Dry), Chips, pizza...writing this post definitely doesnt help my journey, let me move on to my next point. ahhhh. What a struggle, but I must keep on going. However, even when I ate all this junk, I still ate lots of healthy things.

Now I am really determined to focus on myself and side with the best things for me. I have started the Insanity Workout and I am one month down and starting the 2ND MONTH TONIGHT! WOOHOO! I am super excited about that. The Insanity Workout is an intense cardio exercise program for 60 days. It will make you sweat gallons, but it will leave you smiling!

I started the program with my brother, but he got sick, so I went on alone. I gotta be honest, it's really hard to to do it by yourself. That's why you need to really motivate yourself by a method I call, "Motivation Out Loud." How does it work? Well, every time you're in the exercise and start to feel lazy or tired, start motivating yourself by shouting some words:

"YOU CAN DO THIS!" ... "YOU HAVE FACED WORST!"..."OMG DO YOU REMEMBER THAT 300 POUND DUDE...HE FREAKING LOST IT ALL...COME ON MAN"..."YOU HAVE GREATNESS WITHIN YOU...BELIEVE DAM IT...BELIEVEEEEEEE!!!!"

So when no one else is there to cheer for you and remember that you can do that for yourself. Another thing that worked for me was, I opened videos with motivational speeches as I exercised and they seemed to play with my head to move forward no matter how tough is the exercises.

HURRICANE SANDY AFTERMATH!!!

This hurricane was not as sweet as its name...wasnt as gentle either. Some people took serious and some didnt. Either way, it did its damage.

I thank god our town didnt get damaged like other towns in New York. I have friends that literally lost their homes. My cousin almost lost his life.

The most amazing thing from this hurricane is its aftermath. It's incredible how it brought so much people together to help one another. People you dont even know are willing to help you in anyway they can.

Sometimes it takes big things to bring us together . Everything happens for a reason. Kindness emerges from the dust, creating a whole new beautiful meaning to life. Peace and love.

The question is asked if we need money and whether money brings us happiness. A lot of people would say that we don't need money to be happy but we need it to survive. Daniel Suelo, a 51 year old penniless dude, disagrees all the way...everyday. This person gave up a life style that involved money. He wants nothing to do with it. So much headaches are definitely gone! No bills, no cell phone, no credit cards, no loans...NOTHING! What did he do? He decided to move to nature! He lives in a cave in Maoh, Utah. bye bye to mortgage! Bye bye electricity because the sun feels a lot better. What about food? Well, he turned his clock hundreds of years back and he is running a hunting journey for food. If he hated bugs once upon a time, now he doesn't. This individual took it upon himself to be literally free. So if you want to contact him, I'm afraid an email or a text won't work. Not this guy. You got to go to his location and find him. You better pray you don't be one his meal. I do admire this guy though because he defined a dream and made it a reality regardless of the outcome or how we feel about it. Now ask yourself a question, when was the last time you kept a resolution?

Weather in New York

What is it about the weather. We been experiencing winter,spring and summer all together;in a matter of day. you leave home with a shirt and come back frozen like a Popsicle.aya where is a jacket when you need one. Store owners were confused on whether to keep the door open or closed. I'm confused whether I want ice tea or a hot tea. It's like there's a on and off hot or cold weather button. Hot cold...cold hot...hot and cold. Our electric bill would confuse you. Jumping around from heater to Air condition and from air condition to heater. Putting away your winter clothes becomes a very difficult process. Good luck to all. Don't be surprised if it snows in June!

Family is together no matter what. When my uncle got sick, my brother went to North Carolina (Farmville) to help him out in our store so he can rest. Life can be unpredictable. Just before closing three murderous people came in. They came to rob the store, but also had the intent to kill. What kind of hearts these people carry?! They took three lives; my brother, my cousin and a worker. I will attach an the article, if anyone knows of these robbers please report it because justice needs to be done.

Why would you shoot my brothers? Why couldnt you just take the money and go? You have to live with this the rest of your life! You get to remember it every day and you wont ever forgive yourself. I hope such scene stays in your mind and keep you restless the rest of your lives. My brother Nabil worked with us in Queens, New York and was loved by many here. They cry for him the same way i cry for him. We will miss you so much bro. I dont think it has clicked with me yet, but when it does, i dont think i will be alright. I love you so much! i love you so much! There is nothing i can but pray for you brother. I thank god for what ever has come our way. May god grant all of us patience at heart and rest you in peace. You're with me in every moment because i can never ever forget your lively spirit. You truly knew how to make everyone happy and how to take of them. There's a scar in our heart and i dont know if it'll ever be repaired. I love you so much brother!

9 year old gives birth to a baby?

Wow. What is the world coming to. A 9 year old girl gives birth?

It was reported by a Chinese newspaper. The incident happened in north-east China, where the unidentified girl gave birth to a baby boy by Caesarean section. She gave birth in a hospital in Chanchun; the baby was 6 pound and pretty darn healthy too! Sadly they dont know who the father is but according to laws in such province, having sex with a minor under 14 years of age is considered rape.

A baby raising a baby! At such a young age, where should your thoughts be? It shouldnt be worrying about your sick baby or how do i feed this baby? Who ever did this to her is a sick-minded person that should be severely punished and made as an example to people!

"Man on Wire" was such an incredible movie. That man had a goal and told himself that no one on this earth was going to stop him; not even America! That was definitely a dangerous mission and you need extreme motivation to have accomplished such mission. He had a challenge...a very serious one but he withstood all the consequences and fears towards accomplishment and success. With my story, it's probably confusing to know whether i did break through those challenges to accomplish success. It was definitely a tough challenge and i did my best to take on it. I probably succeeded in some way that benefited me more than the original goal i wanted to accomplish. I tried to save my dad's life from Cancer after our modern medicine gave up on him...did i win? did the cancer win? We both won. What were my main challenges:-

Do as much research on natural solutions for cancer and implement as soon as possible
Pray as much as possible for dad, for me and for everything.
Keep up with school while visiting dad in the hospital
Stay with my dad over night when he came home
Keep a good mood going
Help mom and the nurse with specific tasks for my dad
Try to make dad eat despite his extreme unfavorable appetite
serve my dad in any way possible
Along with my brothers, make any wishes he has come true

The challenge began and it kicked me first. I had to drop one course because i couldnt focus. By the end of the semester i had three classes and did ok considering the amount of stress. Then there was that dark room that had one lamp. Mom was with dad during day time, but we didnt want her to be tired so i took over the night shift. It was a challenge staying awake. But who was i staying up for mattered so much more than my rest. It was me, dad and my laptop. Day after day i was searching so many websites. A flow of information that took me to websites all the way to Japan, Germany, Spain, Africa and so many other places for information to get rid of cancer. I was desperate to save dad every day. In the night i was in the run for information and in the day time i was on the run to health stores. I found a lot of helpful things to give my dad. We tried them and they worked to a certain extent. However, what was inside of him was worst than what you can ever imagine; stage 4 cancer. It was like angry moving waters that were sweeping everything on their way. Can you imagine the pain? It's like he has a cactus in his stomach rotating all day! I dont even know how he had the strength to withstand that his morphine wears off.

All i was able to do was feed him stuff that made him feel ok at times, but besides that i was POWERLESS! We were all ready to donate anything; liver, kidney,etc...we dont care, we would do it for him without any questions. I wish we had that option. However, no matter what, you cant save a life that has to go. My biggest challenge here was to keep him ok everyday. I was trying everything everyday. I searched for massaging techniques that would keep him comfortable at least. Everyday, i massaged his legs and his arms gently. Every day i tried to get him to talk a little bit...to smile...to tell me stories of his past. I found all sorts of food and healthy mixtures in the hope of building an arm to defeat what ever was inside. However, cancer was vicious and ready to shred whatever was on its way. He was sick and it was time for me to pay him back for everything he did for me; although sometimes i felt that no matter how much i tried i will never be able to repay him. I was in so much debt for him and still am.

On top of that he still repaid me for all i was trying to do for him...with what? His smile. There were times where i wasnt home for two days due to other things, but the day i showed up to see him, he gave me that tired smile that traveled from his lips to my eyes...to my thoughts...to my heart...and it felt so wonderful! So loving! So caring! I cant ever repay the tired smile that was glad to see me. I remembered that smiled and worked so hard to save his life. That was my challenge and i didnt win his life but i learned a lot about what it takes to take care of your health. It almost felt like an art to take care of him and i loved doing it. That's where i felt like i accomplished a challenge. Despite the nights where i was exhausted i stayed awake (barely.) I ate as much healthy sweets (like fruits) as possible to stay awake and keep searching. Sometimes i would see him asleep so i would try to sleep on the bed next to him, but the minute i hear his voice, i awake! I cant be sleeping if his voice is indirectly calling me. How can i enjoy my sleep if he is not. Now imagine that you fall into a deep sleep and the minute you do that you are awaken. That was me for days because his needs were extremely more important to me. Two days before he past, i went to the Islamic holy place (Mosque) because i felt that i was losing him and i had to make a step towards preparation despite the sadness that never wanted me to go anywhere. That was as real as it got and i had to do it for the sake of his peace. During the last days i woke everyone in the house to come together and pray by my dad's side; to pray for what ever was coming. He was no longer responding. It was another challenge that i had to sit through no matter what. I already promised that i will be with him every step of the way.

Thursday Feb 2, 2012 6AM... The last morning of my dad's mornings. His breathing changed and was going fast then gradually slowing down...that last morning every breath he took felt like pulling a mountain towards me. I was crying and just kept saying to myself, "please take the next breath...please take it." My challenges were gone with all the effort i have done. Nothing mattered now because now im just down to one challenge and promise; stay with him till he says goodbye. I stayed...i hugged him...i kissed his forehead...i smelled his scent for the last time and felt his breath against my cheek. I came back and forth from the room to the other room comforting my mom. I came back just in time to say goodbye. My brothers were there also. He squeezed my older brother's hand for one last breath...two hiccups followed and that was it. I was at a red light but it was green for him. I accomplished the last challenge and it felt so................... There were unexplained things that happened that day, i'll hopefully share it in another post.

Pay It Forward Positive Psychology project

So here we are on a new mission for our positive psychology class.
Our mission: To walk up to the world and become a giver! We were assigned to come up with an idea that would contribute to the well being of society; even if it is very small. The whole idea is to be generous. We went around 23rd street Manhattan giving out hand wipes, pocket tissues and a nice colorful note that said, "Spread love...Not germs...pay it forward." It was a really nice thing to do because we were able to achieve smiles from a lot of people. Those that did rejected us didnt get our gift but they gave us a laugh because we thought their reaction was funny. For our second part of the video clip, we went back to our college (Baruch College) and i had the chance to use our college's mascot. The fun we had was incredible. It felt fun giving something without wanting anything in exchange for it. It's beautiful and WE should do it more often. As a memory, it's something to worth remembering! This can even be a family project. Plan it. Organize it. Do it!

What the heck am i eating?!

Welcome to Scary world!

Everything seems to find itself to Brokenville. Do you ever ask yourself, what the heck am i eating? Did you ever care to do a random search of what might really be in your food? How beneficial is it for me...how harmful? Take your first steps for your own sake and for the sake of the people around you. If something is to ever happen to you (in terms of sickness or disease due to a bad diet) it wont only effect you, but it will sadden all your loved ones! "It hurts to see you hurt my friend, but im glad it's not me." You wouldn't want to know or feel that someone is saying or feeling that in them, do you? So what is my number one advice for you today?
Take a moment and pause. Time wont pause, but you can pause..so pause! Now think, what the heck am i eating? Does it benefit me? does it hurt me? Is it enough to sustain my health? If you cant get those answers from your thoughts then your fingers must run to the keyboard and search! You'll be surprised!
