Rita grew up in St. Cloud, the 8th of ten children, attended Cathedral High School, & St. Cloud Beauty College. After working as a hairdresser, restaurant owner and in retail, she returned to college and received a degree from Rasmussen Business College in Hospitality Business Mgmt. Rita has been married to Gil for 37 years. They have three children, Brad, Matt, & Jessica, son-in-law Darren, daughter-in-law Nicci, & seven grandchildren ages 2 - 13. She has been active in the Band Parent Association, Home Pride Lions, Cold Spring 2020 and the Cold Spring Area Chamber. Rita is the owner of Great Escapes Travel & Tours, which began in 1999.

Lorraine Engelmeier and her husband David of 53 plus years reside on Schneider Lake. She grew up in St. Cloud, married David and moved to Cold Spring in 1956. Their one son Allen lives with his wife Debbie in Albert Lea. Lorraine has two grand daughters and six great grand children. Tonight Lorraine is being recognized for the volunteer leadership, participation and the fundraising work she has provided to the following partial list of organizations: Christian Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Cold Spring Seniors Club, Rocori Senior Center, Rocori School Readiness, Rocori Proud, Stearns County Home Extension and the New ROCORI Middle School task force.

In this story you will see the River Lakes Stars Girls Hockey Team take on the Little Falls/Brainerd Flying Warriors. Early in the game, the River Lakes team found the puck in their defensive zone for extended amounts of time. Giving up two quick goals, Jenn Paul put the Stars on the board. Shortly after Paul’s goal, the Stars went on the power-play only to give up a short-handed goal and once again trail by two.

In the second period, the Stars jumped out to a three-goal lead only to give a couple right back. Although they played solid up front, at times the goaltending and defense would lose focus. The River Lakes Stars gave up one third period goal, and the game ended in a 6 – 6 tie. Be sure to stay tuned to DigElog ROCORI for more highlights from the River Lakes Stars season.
