Here is a Media Navigator named Tagoo with the motto: �??It’s as easy to use as iTunes, minus the credit card�??. Tagoo is a Russian media search engine designed by Sergey Smagin and Ruslan Murashko.

First Look on Tagoo

Tagoo’s index page starts with a search box, popularity search cloud and blocks portraying popular content on audio playlists and blogs. Suggestions on the search box is certainly an impressive feature to aid users find the right song. Briefly Tagoo is all about Search >  Find  > Play �?? for free and is its motto appears to be absolutely in sync with its theme and features.

How Tagoo Works

Tagoo allows you to search for music and video files through the Internet for free in English, German and Russian interfaces. Tagoo does not host any of found files, it only provides users with direct links to media files which are hosted on other servers, not connected with Tagoo.

There are vast number of open source frameworks on the web which can be configured and customized to build a wide range of websites, right from ecommerce to event management. But, if you want to test run a new software package you came across, on the server then it would be a tedious task as you would be entirely naive to the control interface.

Rather than testing a package on the server, you can install Apache web server and make your PC work as a local server and test run software packages like wordpress, drupal, elgg or any other open source frameworks. But, its not that easy to install an Apache web server and it gets harder if you want to add MySQL, PHP and Perl.

XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. You just need to download, extract and start. XAMPP also has a set of add-on like Python, Samba , Webmin and PostGreSQL.

Currently there are four XAMPP versions:

• a version for Linux systems (tested for Ubuntu, SuSE, RedHat, Mandrake and Debian),
• a version for Windows 98, NT, 2000, 2003, XP and Vista,
• a beta version for Solaris SPARC (developed and tested under Solaris 8),
• and a beta version for Mac OS X.

Components in XAMPP

The list of components on XAMPP include,

• The Apache HTTP Server Project

• MySQL, PHP , Perl

• PhyMyAdmin, Webazlier

• ProFTPD , GD Graphics library and more

I�??m not covering the installation in this post, as it installs just like any other software. Here, I will discuss, how to configure XAMPP for testing various software packages and frameworks.

 Setting up XAMPP

• After installation, you should see the XAMPP control panel as follows,

• Now type localhost on your internet browser and select your language.
• You can access this startup page as http://127.0.0.1 or http://localhost 
• XAMPP has a few tweaks you might want to try out like Flash art, Excel Writer, Phone Book etc which are accessible via the left sidebar on http://localhost.
• The MySQL server runs with the default MySQL privileged account i.e root with no password, in order to fix this security hole go to http://localhost/security/index.php and assign a password for the MySQL SuperUser  account.

• Now, you got to restart MYSQL for these changes to take effect.

If you have processed the above steps appropriately, then you have successfully configured XAMPP.

Testing a Software Package

Now that you have installed XAMPP successfully, lets test run and install a couple of software packages. Here to begin with  I�??m test running one of the popular open source flexible social networking engines: Elgg

Test Run: Elgg

For the test run, I�??m installing its current version i.e elgg V1.1 ( file size: 1.5MB )

• Download and extract the elgg folder onto htdocs in the xampp folder on C:/ drive, in general the file location would be as C:\xampp\htdocs
• For installing any package we need a database name and the database user name and password.
• Go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin and login as root, then create a new database.
• Thus, we have the database name as : db_name_elgg ( example) , database username: root and the database password: ****
• Now go to http://localhost/elgg/install.php for installing Elgg onto the localhost.

• Provide the database details and then it would as you for the site name and  description.
• Once you are done with creating the administrator account,  go to tool administration for enabling or disabling features like blogs, diagnostics, friends, groups and a lot more.
• The rest would be a cake walk, now based on this engine you can customize your site design and implement it with appropriate features and plug-ins on the server.
• You can access the latest themes and plug-in for ELGG here and here you can find the websites powered by ELGG.

Now similar to the above, lets test run and configure the most popular and the incredible open source content management platform Drupal. The installation would be equivalent to the above procedure, so let me focus on the design aspect this time.

Lets see, how Drupal can be customized for building  a college community website.Following are a list of modules in Drupal suitable for building a college community website.

organic groups
This module will be helpful in creating groups for the members like teachers, students or we can group them according to their class. The advantage of this module is we can have group posts that are only visible for those group members.

calendar
This module will display date field in calendar formats, including CCK date fields, Event module event fields, node created or updated dates, etc. You might find it useful for posting college events and other things to be shown on the calendar.

video
This module allows users to submit videos to a drupal site. Video tutorials or other lecture videos can be submitted using this module which would give that broadcasting  edge to the community .

five star
This is used for rating the articles submitted by the users.

news
This is useful in posting news and updates on the website.

Answers

This module is some thing like yahoo answers where student or any member can post question and others can answer. There is also option for points to be given for the person who answers the question fittingly.

guest books
This is a simple module that provides a site guestbook and individual user guestbook�??s. Guestbook owners can delete and comment the guestbook entries. Avatars are shown if they are available.

Above is just a probable list, to add a new module just download the module zip and extract it into the modules folder in drupal. Based on the site requirement there are many modules which can added on, to enhance user accessibility on the drupal cms.

XAMPP comes loaded with PhyMyAmin, MySQL, PHP , Perl and filezilla and has an easy to use interface. Its convenient for testing any software package. In short XAMPP rocks.

Let us consider an example to understand the concept of SEO better.

For instance if your website concept is to sell flowers on a global scale.

Then you would face immense competition from your peers as everyone wants to attract visitors and buyers.

The usual strategies you apply would be:

· Analyzing price levels of peer websites.

· Attracting visitors with offers and packages.

· Sending Emails , putting up Advertisements on websites and so on..

But remember, you can’t cover the whole web by the above means.

Just imagine a search query for “buy flowers” would lead to around 1,00,00,000 results so obviously most of the people opt for clicking the website which stands #1 on search engines because they believe that its authentic and more valuable than the other websites. Generally people don’t tend to go beyond the first two or three search result pages to find what they are looking for.

Now, if your website stands say in twenty-first page on the search results for the query “buy flowers” on search engines then the amount of traffic you get from search engines is literally zero. So as people don’t turn up to your site from search engine queries , your only choice to attract visitors would be applying the above mentioned strategies or you have to publicize your site using advertisements or emails etc.

So, without SEO your website is like “behind a wall” though its got fabulous features and functionality. Search Engine Optimization will serve as a tool to break that wall and improvise your site traffic and revenue.

You might be aware of the news hovering and buzzing on the web: about Google introducing themes on Gmail.

Themes?  Yeap, Some color,style and fodder.Not just that, now you can add Google Gadgets onto your Gmail.

Gadgets are individual modules which can embedded onto any webpage. Google Gadgets include tools, communication, news, technology, friends, games, fun and more. Let me share a few quick lines on how to add a Google Gadget to your Gmail before I speak about the Spice.

Adding Google Gadgets to Gmail

• Click on the Settings tab in your Gmail account and select Gadgets
• You will see �?? Add a gadget by its URL�??

• Now go the igoogle gadgets directory, to search your favorite gadget to be added onto your Gmail.

• Click on the Gadget link you wish to add and then click on share the gadget and copy the URL in the following manner onto your awaiting �?? add a gadget by URL�?? in your Gmail.

For instance, if the URL is:

http://www.google.com/ig/adde?moduleurl=http://ralph.feedback.googlepages.com/googlecalendarviewer.xml&source=imag

Select only the xml source link from the URL(the underlined piece) and paste it onto your Gmail as mentioned above.

Now lets talk about the spice!!

You can add multiple Gadgets onto your Gmail to read news feeds,  search web services and your docs and spreadsheets, play games, communicate and have fun. Gmail can be your one stop web interface with the advent of these Gadgets. These appear on the sidebar and can be minimized accordingly.

A simple trick will certainly help you to play games or deal with other gadgets on Gmail. Use Crtl + Mouse scroll to zoom into a gadget. Similar to these gadgets, you can embed your favorite Google Gadgets to Spice up and make Gmail the one ceasing interface to perform almost any deed you wish to on the web.

My job goes through daily tasks of penetrating systems by hacking them, the smart and hard way, to harden a system and make sure nasty stuff doesn’t occur. In short, I am a pen tester. But my other side of life includes IM, short for internet marketing.

Problem
Recently I have been trying to market a new product, put them online, and sell them through Clickbank. I found it very insecure to sell E-Products online, with a sales page in general. Why are they insecure ?

1. You setup a sales page, with a thank you page / download page.
2. You put your E-product online, somewhere in a directory.
3. You use whatever method you could (Joomla Plugin / Clickbank), to automate the payment process
4. Buyer gets redirected to a download page / logged in to download your E-Product.
5. In actual fact, your E-product is sitting somewhere for everyone to download.

How it is done
No matter how random or wierd you rename your E-Product, it is still susceptible to web app scanning. In short, a scan of all files and subdirectories will reveal all files within your domain name.

There are ways to do this, but I don’t think IM guys are aware of this. Being said that, all Clickbank publishers actually have their products exposed, because upon payment, you are redirected to a download page. In fact, if you “guessed” the thankyou.html page properly, you can easily gain access to the E-product. Once again I am using a web app scanning tool instead of “guessing”.

I am still in the midst of testing a solution to solve this problem, so as to protect valuable assets. If you have a solution for this, I would love to have you share with me and diggitlive.com.
