Viral videos are usually something that takes thousands, perhaps millions by storm by creating questions, confusion, and sometimes even anticipation about something unknown. Samsung’s latest attempt in creating a viral video for their new Jet phone does just the opposite of that.

Check out this “viral video” of a publicity stunt in London that really didn’t happen, with fake interviews of people on the street lying about what they actually didn’t see. I guess the formula they cooked up was: 1) Enter a stupid and horribly rendered flying UFO. 2) Throw out even stupider looking CGI bungee jumping elephants 3) See what happens. Sorry Samsung, the internet isn’t that mindless.

Barnes & Noble has just announced that they will be opening their very own e-bookstore, where for only $9.99 a book users will be able to obtain all the latest best sellers. Barnes & Noble plans to offer more than 700,000 titles, which include more than 500,000 public domain books from Google. These numbers are expected to increase to more than one million within the next year. William J. Lynch, president of Barnes & Noble’s BN.com announced this:

“Book formats supported by the new Barnes & Noble e-bookstore include those that can be viewed on Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPod Touch, BlackBerry smartphones and most Windows and Mac computers.  Titles bought through Barnes & Noble’s e-bookstore won’t be compatible with Sony’s Reader or Amazon.com’s Kindle e-book reader, the two dominant e-readers in the U.S. market.”

The e-book market is new and growing fast. How big it actually is still unclear but it’s estimated at $75 million to $100 million in sales. Expect the Barnes & Noble Ebookstore soon. Do we hear Amazon trembling?

Google Earth has now added the Moon to its list of places you can explore to begin celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. By adding the Moon to Google Earth, you will be able to explore lunar images as well as lunar related content models, much like what is currently in Google Earth.

Anousheh Ansari, the first female private space explorer and a trustee of the XPRIZE Foundation, has this to say about the software:

“Moon in Google Earth enables you to explore lunar imagery as well as informational content about the Apollo landing sites, panoramic images shot by the Apollo astronauts, narrated tours and much more,” she explains. “I believe that this educational tool is a critical step into the future, a way to both develop the dreams of young people globally, and inspire new audacious goals.”

The Moon isn’t the only extra-terrestrial layer to be added to Google Earth. You can also explore the Sky, Mars, and the Ocean, which all became available back in February when Google Earth 5.0 was released. Check out the promotional video after the break.

If you are starting to get frustrated with anticipation for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, then maybe this will hold you over. Activision is releasing the third Map Multiplayer Map Pack for Call of Duty: World at War next month, bringing three new maps, “Battery”, “Revolution”, and “Breach” to the table.

If that’s not enough, there will be a new included Zombies map called “Der Riese”. Now that got you excited, didn’t it? [Via]

Whether this is only for the ones who get to update early, or it is for current Xbox Live Gold and/or Silver members, it’s still annoying. Solid image based ads have evolved into moving ones, and now they have sound as well. We haven’t witnessed this for ourselves yet so we cannot confirm.

Does this bother you? Is it fair to display advertisements within the Xbox 360 dashboard fair for those who pay for Xbox Live Gold? I expect to start seeing this get worse; in and even out of game.

We all remember a few years back when Kazaa was a huge and illegal P2P service much like the others. Though it had a good run, just like Napster, it was forced to shut down and convert into a legal pay per use service. Well now it’s back, and for a steep $20 a month you will have unlimited access to thousands of music and ringtone files.

The subscription service should be available sometimes in the upcoming weeks, after they are finished playing around with the beta.

Remember when we told you that Microsoft was going to split up the Xbox Live Updates and start by releasing them to the press and some other special Xbox Live members today? Well, we just got details on how to be “special”, and get part of the update preview program before anyone even sees them on their consoles. It’s pretty easy too, and Microsoft is only granting a few thousand access.

Update: This first update includes Games on Demand, Netflix Movie Parties, and Avatar Awards.

Remember how excited we all were when we found out that Comedy Central was going to get new Futurama episodes? Well, you may want to put away your Hypnotoad plush toy and sit down for this one. FUTURAMA MIGHT NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL VOICE ACTORS.

Done crying? We’re not. Replacing the original and perfect voice actors on a show like this could kill it. The love we have for the characters can immediately depleat when a show changes the character’s voice. Imagine Bender with an actual robotic voice. Yes, it will be worse than that. We are starting casting immediately for Futurama, a half-hour animated comedy created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. Descriptions of these established characters follow, along with links to clips of previous episodes for reference.

It’s official – they are casting for the show. If the original voice actors such as DiMaggio, LaMarche, Billy West and Katy Sagal aren’t part of the new Futurama episode, don’t even bother. We’re fine loving the re-runs. [Via]
