We are all a bit sexist in a way. Whenever we see a woman who achieved something, we label them. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta is known for her service, Marie Skłodowska-Curie is known for her pioneering research on radioactivity. It is true that they excelled in their fields, but it doesn't mean that is all they are. Every woman can be much more than they are. CEO of a successful company can also be a guitarist, a good friend, caring mother and much more. We should tut an end to the one-dimensional labels that limit their potential to dull their radiance.

So Gillette Venus came up with a campaign #UseYourAnd. They invite everyone to take a stand against one-dimensional labeling on Women.

So doing my small part, I have decide to write about this woman I know. For every human born in this world, the first woman they know is Mother. Yes, I am going to talk about my mother and she is the greatest person I ever know. She is not a corporate lady nor a celebrity so the world might not know about her and appreciate her, but she means the world to me. She is a very hard working woman and being a small farmer her hard work might not have taken to great heights, but everyone in our village knows that she is hardworking. She is not only a hard working person but also a caring mother. She knows what is best for me and my brother. She is the best mom in the world. She is also the best daughter. My grand parents love her so much and she was by their side when they needed her. That may sound so normal to you, but after marriage, many women in our village will always stick with her husbands family. They do so much in her new family and they forget the parents who raised her. But my mom always takes care of her parents. That doesn't mean she care about my father's family less. She looked after her mother-in-law and father-in-law as her own parents. My parents are the happiest couple I've ever come across. My point is that women are much more than we think. There is no single label that can describe her. There are many things that describe her. My mom is a good farmer, mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law and much more.

So next time if you see a lady and if she is an actress, a musician, politician, a business woman, a poet, they are much more. They could be a politician and musician. They could be an actress and a poet.

When I read the email for "New HAPPY HOUR - Asus GO SLEEK!" I was pretty excited. But before I reached home and started on my blog post, there was already a hundred entries. Unlike the previous happy hours, this time, we not only get a voucher, but also a special invite to "Asus IndiBlogger Meet 2015 - Bangalore Edition." This is going to be the first IndiBlogger Meet of 2015 in Bangalore and it is happening here after a very long time. I didn't want to miss it. So I submitted the post for the happy hour anyway, but unfortunately it didn't make it to the first 100 entries. I was very disappointed that I cannot attend the Indiblogger meet. But thank god, the generous organizers of the meet sent me an invite!

It was held in ITC Gardenia, Bangalore on Friday January 30, 2015 - 5:30 PM. I was in Coimbatore the previous day and since I hadn't reserved the train ticket, I had to travel in unreserved compartment from Coimbatore to Bangalore. But I knew it will be worth it.

I was there a bit early and I was very excited, but I was very sad. Yes, I had lost my phone in Train. :( I had disabled the GPS and Mobile data too, so I wasn't able to locate it. But once we entered the Mysore hall, ITC Gardenia I forgot about everything. I was soon "headbanging" and I lost myself in music.

Many people had turned out and it was indeed a big meet, but none of us were "meat in the room." They had planned the events accordingly so that everyone will be entertained and it made me feel like I am part of something big. It was a pretty nice game. We have to meet as many people there as possible and we had to convince/persuade them to give us a personal item of theirs. I collected only few but there were folks who collected more than 20 items in 15 minutes. Few folks collected signatures too!

Then they briefed about the two band new products recently launched by ASUS. Yes, they are ASUS All In One PC ET2040 and ASUS EeeBook X205TA. To know more about these, you may refer to : http://digiman.myfirstattempt.com/2015/01/it-takes-me-week-to-make-it-up-asus-all.html.

Then we played a interesting team game. We had to create a advertisement that promotes blogging. We were divided into five teams and everyone in team contributed to it. The best team is supposed to win something and I am waiting for its result.

Above all, we had chance to try the ASUS All In One PC ET2040 and ASUS EeeBook X205TA first hand. ASUS EeeBook X205TA looks so amazing. It was unbelievably thin and light weight. ASUS All In One PC ET2040 has a great display, it was incredibly fast and its gesture control was awesome. I am very sure that I want both of these gadgets for me.

Next was dinner. But I was in rush. :( I had to meet a friend, so I just had the starters and I headed home.

Airtel users can suck it.

I hated Airtel to the core from the beginning. It 's been almost 8 years since I 've used Airtel network. It is not the only network I hate, but I definitely hate it.

Though I did not use it directly, I have few friends / room mates / acquaintances who uses Airtel and I know for sure that it sucks to be a airtel user.

Now I have got just one more reason to piss them off.

Airtel now charges for VoIP data on Skype, Viber and other apps even with data packs.
Yes, Pay extra for making calls using Airtel’s mobile internet.

update: Airtel pulled back its plan to charge extra for VoIP calls.

We finally have Virtual Desktops in Windows 10

Yes, it is the Virtual desktop. If you have used GNOME or KDE or any desktop on GNU/Linux for that case, you must be aware of the Workspaces. They are wonderful and now we have them in Windows 10. It finally seems like Microsoft listened to our feedbacks.

This is a great feature that will help us in multitasking. If you open a lot of programs at once, this feature allows you to keep them organized.

This task view is placed on the taskbar of Windows 10 right next to the start menu and search.

It is pretty simple to use. It is clearly not as evolved as GNOME. If you have used GNOME on any GNU/Linux OS like Fedora, you may not like it much. But it is a good step.

Once you click on the task view button, it displays all the open windows. You can also bring it up by pressing "Windows Key" and "Tab" together.
There you will also find an option that says as "Add a desktop".

Once you click on "Add a desktop", a new virtual desktop is created where there is no maxmized application windows.

Now click on the second desktop icon on the bottom of task view screen. It will open up a desktop where you see no applications either maximized or minimized. But don't worry, they are not closed. If you observe deeply, you will notice that the are just minimized. You can see the small highlighted dock like thing below your icons that are open in your first desktop. Here in this example below, you can see them under Windows explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Picasa.

Now, We will see how to move applications between desktops. Move to the desktop by clicking on it in taskview where you have it open. Then right click on the application on which you want to move. It will show you the options for moving it to different desktops available.

Once you chose the desktop, it will be moved there.

You can even close any window that you don't want from here. Just hover the mouse over and click on the close button.

Summary: If you have any application open on your desktops, they show up as thumbnails of the desktops on the Task View interface. When you move your mouse over a desktop on the Task View interface, the open programs on that desktop displays as larger thumbnails above the Task View interface. Click on one of the windows to make that program (and the corresponding desktop) active. It’s similar to the old Alt + Tab feature from previous versions of Windows. Click on a desktop on the Task View interface to make that desktop active.

What is new in Windows 10

Window 10 Technical preview is here for few weeks and I believe most of you might have tried it. If you haven't head to the Microsoft's Windows Insider program and try it now! It's free! But let me warn you that it is still in development and it was released so that the company can gather additional feedback throughout the development process.
And for starters, Windows 10 is an upcoming version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. Unveiled on September 30, 2014, it is scheduled to be released in late 2015.

Windows 10 shows that microsoft is learning from its mistakes and is actively listening to feedbacks.
There are few important differences that you can notice from its previous versions. And remember, it is still in development and it can change anytime.

1, Task View: Yes, it is the Virtual desktop. If you have used GNOME or KDE or any desktop on GNU/Linux for that case, you must be aware of the Workspaces. They are wonderful and now we have them in Windows 10. It finally seems like Microsoft listened to our feedbacks.

2, Start Menu: I personally liked the Windows 8 start screen, but many users felt a bit uncomfortable with it. Don't worry, with Windows 10, we can choose what we want. Either a start menu or Start screen. Current Windows 10 builds use the same Start screen layout as Windows 8.1, but Microsoft has demonstrated a newer Start screen design that includes a column at its left to display shortcuts and the "All apps" button, similarly to the Start menu.

3, Ability to run Windows Store apps within windows on the desktop: Yes, Microsoft brings the ability to run Windows Store apps within windows on the desktop as well as in full-screen mode. You can even cascade the classic 32 bit application and the new Windows app and dock them side by side.

4, Cortana on Windows 10 PC: Windows 10 OS has a new search button on the taskbar, and Cortana currently appears at the top of that search functionality once it's triggered. Microsoft isn't creating a separate app for Cortana on the desktop, it will essentially replace and complement the existing search experience that's available in Windows 8. Just like Windows Phone, you can type to Cortana to ask it to remind you to do things, or to search for content locally in apps or on the web.

There are many reasons why we hate #Apple and one important thing is #Privacy. They don't give a furry crack on rat's behind about their user's privacy.

Apple operates a network of services for managing contacts, calendars and correspondence across all its devices. This amounts to a huge vacuum sucking up users' personal information and storing it in a centralized server farms that are vulnerable to attacks. And since the software running on people's Apple devices is proprietary, no one except Apple can audit it and know exactly what it is sending to the mothership.
It was even worse. Prior to iOS 7, Apple let third-party applications access and store your entire address book without indication.

There are many companies that advocates free software. But Apple is just the opposite. Apple's App Store only allows restrictively licensed software.

As part of its micromanaging of the apps available for iOS, Apple censors all free software. Additionally, iTunes, which comes with desktop and mobile devices, refuses to play media in free formats like Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Theora.

What can you do with your Apple device? Apple, not you, controls what you can install on mobile devices.

Apple corporate headquarters keeps a tight lock on the apps available for its mobile operating system (iOS), which is used on the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPod and iPad. Software developers even have to pay a tax to Apple to publish their work in the App Store.

Apple also prevents you from changing the operating system on the devices, so there's no way to escape the restrictions. If you try to change the software on your device, Apple's lawyers claim you are a criminal under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA). Apple argues these measures are for "security." Security expert Bruce Schneier says that "With iPhone, 'Security' Is Code for 'Control'."

Apple is a patent bully and hostile to developers. A Simple Google search for 'patent bully' returns results only about Apple.

Apple continually amasses patents, simply so that it can threaten other developers with lawsuits if they create something vaguely similar to an Apple program, even by accident. Apple's aggression chills innovation in the world of software (especially free software), because developers are afraid of getting on Apple's bad side. Yes, it is a Rotten Apple.

Apple is Defective by Design

All Apple products impose DRM (Digital Restrictions Management) that takes control of your music, movies, shows and games away from you. Even though it's possible to download DRM-free music through iTunes, its streaming music and rental movies and show have DRM. Apple even uses DRM to prevent Macs from playing video on "unauthorized" displays.

Despite this disregard for its users, Apple is one of the best-known technology companies in the world. Help fight the hype by taking action and learning more about Apple's wrongdoing.

An Open letter to BOSS Linux

Dear BOSS Developers,
I am big lover of fedora. I have tried many Linux distributions, but I always stayed with fedora, but for past couple of months I am using our BOSS and I loved it. Great work guys.

Just one thing, I sometimes run into issues on few drivers. (It happens on my laptop as well as my desktop) I had these issues in Debian as well. But Fedora worked just fine. Fedora works as closely to upstream as possible. They don't often go off on their own tangent with disregard for upstream projects. If they want to have something changed, they work with upstream to create fixes and introduce new features which benefits everyone. So please consider choosing fedora as base for future releases.

AND ONE SERIOUS CONCERN:
Downloading BOSS. Are you guys serious? The ISO file is more than 3 GB and you do not provide an option to download via torrent. The installation media of Fedora and Debian are just 1 GB and still they provide option to download via torrents. But our BOSS mostly used in INDIA has to be downloaded in one go. It is so obvious that we use internet connections with speed about 256 kbps. I agree that BSNL provide FTTH in cities clocking at 100 Mbps, but here in our village, we can't get that. The max available is 2 Mbps and we can afford only 512 kbps. Please provide an option to download via torrent Thanks.

This article is no diss on +Aircel, but a desperate attempt to get their attention.

Before we get into the topic, I have few things to say for the people from ou!@#$%^&*()__+/* t. Mobile phones saw exponential growth only in mid of the last decade in India. The mobile range was within few kilometers of city and the villages were void of any cellular networks. In around 2007 and 2008, Aircel established cell phone towers in most parts of Tamil Nadu villages and hence almost everyone who got a cell phone connection in country side of tamilnadu went with +Aircel . Many customers switched from +BSNL , the PSU telecom service provider to aircel during this time. Changing the number wasn't big thing then. So Companies like +Airtel India , +Aircel , + +Idea gained a lot since people thought BSNL wasn't just good. At that time, that seemed like good decision. The cost was cheaper with private companies. Later those companies like +Airtel India started deducting balances from customers' account for the so called Value Added Services. In Order to increase their revenue, they call the cx, play some recorded voice and if customers' press a key, they will start taking the money. This nuisance continued for long time until TRAI enforced strict NDNC and telemarketing guidelines. If that wasn't made, shareholders of these Indian Telecos would have easily beaten Carlos Slim, Amancio Ortega, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and who not. Still this nuisance continues but in lesser amount. So Now they started providing worst service that one could offer.

Even a lunatic might say that EDGE offers data transfer rate ranging between 100 and 250. This was the speed offered by most of the companies few years back. But now +Aircel like companies stoop so low and offer speed between 400 bytes per second and 4 kbps. I don't know the reason behind it. May be it is for pushing people to use costier 3G data or maybe just to frustrate them. But still some companies like BSNL offer quality services. If I am using the +Aircel Edge, it would have took me a million years to post this blog post. I am not exaggerating.

This is what has loaded in a page after 11 minutes with a Indian Private telecoms' network. It was not the issue with webpage.

The future of shopping

Can you imagine the improvements that we have attained so far in terms of shopping? Twenty years before, for buying anything we have to be going from shop to shop and we were getting the products. For Instance, if one wants to get a clothing items, shoes, bags, utensils, groceries and pastries they have to be getting to different shops for getting each item listed above. Situations changed ten years from then. Shopping malls and Hypermarkets started sprouting up all parts of the cities and we had the one stop shops. We were able to get all the listed items in a single place with much more convenience. But over the past few years, the shopping has reached the next generation in our country. Online shopping is gaining much attention and we could get almost anything delivered to our doorstep at our convenience. Though many fear shopping online, the guarantee offered by the online shopping giants are much more appealing than the conventional stores. These online shopping sites even recommend the items to us based on our previous orders! We can’t deny the fact that we are saving up a lot of money because of these online shops. We can visit all the shops, read the description, compare the prices between different shops and choose the one that pleases us the most. So if we look at the changes over the past few decades in shopping, it makes us wonder what will be the next.

Before we start wondering about the future, let us see a feature that is in present and it is amazing! I am talking about the eBay Check extension for Google Chrome. It just makes your online purchase more convenient and simple. Once you add this extension, it will monitor your online activity and continuously looks for the items that you are searching in internet. If you are looking at an item in any online shopping site or even if you are reading about it in a blog or Wikipedia, the eBay Check extension searches about that item in eBay,in and provides you the best price options through a drop-down list. An icon is added for this extension to the right of the omnibox using which you can search the eBay.in directly. I like Chrome, but I am a Firefox fan. So I expect a Firefox add-on very soon.

So what can we expect in the future? I guess artificial intelligence will come into play. I don’t think we will be using the conventional keyboard or any kind of typing in next two decades. I would love a tool / app that suggests me the item that I need just by looking at me. I believe that face is index of mind and this holds true until we act and change our facial expression willingly. And we won’t be lying to our computers or phones and when we are using them we will let out the true feeling in our face; and for input if we are speaking to the devices, they should be able to figure out the mood of ours. If the device combine the data that it receives from camera that looks at our face and mic that hears our voice, it should be able to figure our mood to a certain extent. So the shopping app should be able to suggest the items depending upon our mentality. For example, I've heard that girls shop for shoes when they feel blue. So the app should recognize her mood and suggest the shoes for her according to her taste. For me, I change the genre of music that I’m listening depending on my mood. So I would be happy if the app purchases and downloads the music depending upon my mood and plays it for me. Right now I guess I want to listen to Blue grass, but I guess I have to wait for a long time to get such an app. But we hope to get such apps by 2030.

Whatever the best product you have, no one may buy it unless they know that you have it. That sentence may sound stupid, but that is a fact. In order to make people aware of what we have, we advertise. Advertisements having this simple purpose have now pertained into almost every media. Just imagine what and all we will be missing if there were no advertisements.

Good share of the income to the TV channels come from advertising and if they miss this form of revenue, they may start charging huge sum as subscription fee. High subscription fee may turn down the number of subscribers and in turn the revenue of TV channels. In such cases the TV channels will not be able to pay a good sum of money to TV program producers. That will for sure affect the quality of programs. In the same way, Internet based companies like Google, Facebook and Yahoo may rely on income from ads. If there are no advertisements, we may not have these online Giants. Even if they somehow got established from revenue in form of paid subscriptions, they won’t be called Giants. Will the Facebook have this huge user base if they charge a subscription fee? Very few would’ve signed up and it will feel so empty without friends. I have so far said this whole crap in this paragraph to emphasize on importance of adverts.

Now, let’s forget about all those positive things about advertisements. Were you annoyed when some advertisements just cut through when you are watching a suspense movie or your favorite movie show? I am sure you would’ve. Even more annoying is these ads while browsing. They will just ruin the interest to surf the net. That too these pop ups, banner ads, mouse-over zoom (which will cover up the entire page if you hover over it by mistake) and auto-playing videos. I just hate them. If you have never experienced it, you may give it a try: For pop up ads, go to www.indianrail.gov.in and try to find the availability in a train between two locations. I do not want you to try the websites that start playing videos once we visit their sites. Sometimes video streaming sites make watch some ads before skipping to the main video. In here, these telecom companies charge me 350 INR for just 2 GB data and speed hardly touches 7 mbps. So my data balance is precious to me and I cannot waste it on these videos. I do accept some non-intrusive ads, but ads of these kinds should be eradicated.

I am going to say you a truth now. Actually all these annoying advertisements are history to me. I am Adblock Plus for about a year and it is the best browser add-on ever made. By default it does allows some non-intrusive advertisements, so the website publishers can still earn revenue as long as they maintain their unobtrusive advertising.

I wish that we have something like Adblock plus in the Goggles so that we can get ignore those flashy banners on the sides of the roads too.

What is up with Google.

If you are reading this, I can assume that you know Google. Well why is that so. What is so special with it. There is something to it..

Everyone likes Google for their own reasons and I do have mine. One of the notable things is that if you sign into one, you are signed into many. I am not sure whether I have used a Open-id for logging into these many sites. I am synchronizing my Chrome Canary in PC using Google account so that I can have my browser customization on all my devices. I can even continue to start where I left on the other device. For example, I was writing a blog in Chrome canary in my windows PC in my office. I left in the middle and continued in Chrome beta in my laptop which runs Fedora Beefy-miracle in my home or I can pick it up at my bedroom with my smart phone. Life is so simplified. No wonder, Chrome is one of my favorite Google offerings.

Once I sign into Google for applying my search preferences and tracking my search history, I am automatically signed into many other things. I can just go to YouTube to upload my new video or to watch my favourite channels. When Google announced acquistion of YouTube in November 2006, many wondered what can Google benefit from this acquistion. Eventhough YouTube was famous then, many couldn't see what monetory benefits YouTube could offer. Now there are plenty folks who make handsome money using YouTube. Google shares a good part of revenue with the publishers.

Do you want to write a blog, just visit Blogger.com and you are already signed in. Blogger is another amazing service launched by Pyra Labs and it is a gift to bloggers. Windows 8 is cool but Fedora Beefy Miracle is Awesome

I am very much pleased with windows 8 and it is really fast, fluidic and cool, but I felt awesome with Fedora 17. I am posting it actually months later than when it happened. You know, life is a bitch ad she kept me busy.

Beefy Miracle delivers a pretty healthy assortment of improvements over its predecessor, including support for GNOME Shell even in the absence of 3D acceleration. It also addresses the tablet revolution by adding multi-touch support to the OS and moved to a unified file system.

There is an unusually large amount of new features in this release. There’s a great mix of new stuff for everyone, from developers to end users. Fedora is now recommending the 64-bit version over the 32-bit version for all users. But 32-bit is still available for those who want or need it. It is quite “beefy” in that it packs a lot of new features, updated software, and general improvements across the board. I have to admit there are a lot of changes that are behind-the-scenes and aren't visually apparent to end users.

A large portion of the changes in Fedora 17 are backbone changes or updates as well as improved developer tools. Fedora 17 ships with the Linux kernel version of 3.3.4, but this will regularly get updated to the latest and greatest throughout the release’s lifespan. Users of the Open-stack software (which is a major tool that can be used to create public and private clouds) will rejoice that it has been updated to the latest version code-named “Essex”.

Fedora 17 also introduces support for JBoss Application Server 7, a tool used as a Java application service. The Fedora Project has also taken the first steps toward a “unified file system” where multiple similar folders (such as /usr/bin and /usr/sbin) are merged into one folder, which simply aims to make the file system more sane.

Fedora 17 has upgraded to Gnome 3.4, which offers many bug fixes, an improved application search experience, smooth scrolling, and application menus (which are accessible by clicking on the application name in the top left of the shell). The updated Gnome desktop environment also offers a refreshed Epiphany browser, now simply called “Web”. This is great for anyone who simply wants a browser that works without using extensions and the like. It doesn't come pre-installed in Fedora, but it’s a few clicks away by installing the epiphany package. KDE has also been upgraded to the latest 4.8 version.

GIMP has also been updated to the new version 2.8, where the most prominent feature is the new single-window mode.

The most interesting improvement for me is Fedora 17 adds support for automatic multiseat. Automatic multiseat is a term that simply describes this – currently with any Linux distribution you can have as many users as you’d like logged into a console (locally and remotely). Each user can do whatever they please at the exact same time as everyone else who’s logged in. Now apply that scenario to full graphical desktop environments. Automatic multiseat allows multiple graphical sessions to exist on the same system so long as the additional hardware is plugged in (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.).

This now means that multiple people can log into their desktops without any issues while only working on one physical system. As today’s system specs are more than capable of handling this, you can save time, electricity, heat, space, and money by having multiple people work with one system.

Booting the computer in safemode is necessary in many cases like when a recent changes caused a failure or if computer is infected by a Virus.

What is Safe Mode?

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you're using.

If an existing problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes. If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in your Startup folder, one by one to see if a program might be the cause of the problem.

If your computer automatically starts in safe mode without prompting, a problem with your computer might be preventing Windows from starting normally. If you think the cause of the problem might be a recently installed program or device, try using Recovery in Control Panel.

Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Some options, such as safe mode, start Windows in a limited state, where only the bare essentials are started. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers and services as possible causes. Repair Your Computer

Enable Boot Logging

Creates a file, ntbtlog.txt, that lists all the drivers that are installed during startup and that might be useful for advanced troubleshooting.

Enable low-resolution video (640×480)

Starts Windows using your current video driver and using low resolution and refresh rate settings. You can use this mode to reset your display settings.

Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)

Starts Windows with the last registry and driver configuration that worked successfully. For more information, see Using Last Known Good Configuration.

Directory Services Restore Mode

Starts Windows domain controller running Active Directory so that the directory service can be restored. This option is intended for IT professionals and administrators.

Debugging Mode

Winwebsec is a category of malware that attacks the users of Windows operating system and produce fake claims as genuine Anti-Malware softwares. They show popups that claim to scan for malware and displays fake warnings similar to "32 Virus and Trojans Detected on your computer. Click on Fix Now button to clean these threats". They then show a message to the user that they need to pay money to activate the software in order to remove these threats which actually doesn't exist. These malwares may display a dialog that looks similar to Windows Security Center or it may have names like Live Security Platinum or Security Shield. The GUI varies from variant to variant.

Winwebsec

These are programs that generate misleading alerts and false detections in order to convince users to purchase illegitimate security software. Some of these programs, including Win32/Winwebsec, may display product names or logos of some well known companies like Microsoft in an apparently unlawful attempt to impersonate some Genuine products.

FBI Moneypak Virus - It is a common name in recent days among the computer users of United States

In 2012, a major ransomware worm known as Reveton or Revaton or Win32/Revaton , also nicknamed the "Police Trojan", began to spread. Based off the Citadel trojan (which itself, is based on the Zeus trojan), its payload displays a warning purportedly from a law enforcement agency, claiming that the computer had been used for illegal activities; such as downloading pirated software. The warning informs the user that to unlock their system, they would have to pay a fine using a voucher from an anonymous prepaid cash service such as Ukash or Paysafecard. To increase the illusion that the computer is being tracked by law enforcement, the screen also displays the computer's IP address as well, while recent versions can also purportedly show footage from a computer's webcam to give the illusion that the user is also being recorded by law enforcement.

Revaton's payloads are localized, displaying the names and logos of local law enforcement agencies. Variants that targeted the United Kingdom included ones branded as being from the Metropolitan Police Service, the collection society PRS for Music (which specifically accused the user of illegally downloading music), and the Police National E-Crime Unit. In a statement warning the public about the malware, the Metropolitan Police clarified that they would never lock a computer in such a way as part of an investigation.

Reveton initially began spreading in various European countries in early 2012. In May 2012, Trend Micro threat researchers discovered templates for variations for the United States and Canada, suggesting that its authors may have been planning to target users in North America. A Norwegian version exists. By August 2012, a new variant of Reveton began to spread in the United States, claiming to require the payment of a $200 fine to the FBI using a MoneyPak card.

The FBI - MoneyPak virus has many user interfaces, most of them are having the Computer's IP address in them to make the users believe in it. Sometimes it comes with the name of United States Cyber Security. Almost all variants of this malware blocks the whole screen of the computer once the users log into their user account. In most cases it won't even allow us to Kill it's process from task manager. Actually we can't even open task manager by pressing "CTRL+ALT+DEL"
