From the billion dollar acquisition of one of the world's largest salmon companies to the purchase of copper and lithium mines to wineries and fruit fields, china has set its sights on Chile it may be a small country but it has a very long and strategic pacific coastline and lots of resources that the Asian giant needs. While Chile's economic growth owes a great deal to china, members of congress are warning of an aggressive investment offensive not from private capital but from the Chinese state.

The congressman has co-drafted a proposal that seeks to regulate foreign state ownership in strategic and geopolitical sectors of the economy, on the top of his list is the Chinese state's majority control of electricity distribution in Chile. Cherry orchards may not seem to fit that description but Chinese companies are increasingly buying more and more agricultural land to produce one of Chile's prime exports fruit especially cherries and that's raising concerns that china may be moving towards producing packing and exporting its own fruit eventually eliminating the Chilean entrepreneur altogether.

The Uighurs are a Turkic ethnic group, there are more than 11 million of them most are Muslims, they have their own language and they live in what’s called the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Xinjiang is huge three times the size of France, it’s got oil, gas and a lot of the world’s cotton comes from here plus a part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative is being built through it. It’s a multi-billion-dollar network of highways and railways to connect China to Europe and beyond.

Uighurs have often protested about being oppressed many have called for their own state and some have organized attacks. While China hosted the Olympics a series of bus bombings were claimed by a group called Turkistan Islamic Party in 2009 there were riots and fighting between the Uighurs and Han Chinese and 200 people died, most of them ethnic Han and in 2014 a bombing at a market and a knife attack at a railway station killed 30 people and injured more than 200 that’s when China really came down hard on Xinjiang. Accusation is that China’s trying to exterminate Uighur culture and their identity and activists and Uighurs who’ve left Xinjiang say China’s doing it in all kinds of ways - forced labour, children being indoctrinated, women being sterilised or forced to have abortions it’s a long list of allegations.

Activists say Uighurs from all walks of life - professors, doctors, public leaders, ordinary people too are all detained without a warrant, charge or trial even loyal supporters of the Communist Party haven’t been spared. Although Chinese state media have released their version of what goes on there but these camps don’t sound like places you’d want to end up in.

An Australian think tank found that Uighurs are being forced to work in factories in Xinjiang and beyond that are in the supply chains of well-known global brands — though brands like Apple and Nike have denied using forced labour. Many Uighurs also say they’ve been tortured some testified before a US congressional committee the list of abuses seems endless.

Even the Uighurs who’ve managed to stay out of these detention centres aren’t free, not really there are thousands of checkpoints, security cameras everywhere many use facial recognition. Rights groups say security forces also put QR codes outside Uighur homes, there’s even an app human Rights Watch says police use it to monitor people. China, though, says it’s not doing anything wrong there are no human rights violations and this is all about developing Xinjiang's economy, maintaining peace and stability. China says most Uighurs have been released from re-education camps and found jobs.

There was even a time when Chinese officials denied the camps existed at all. And Uighur activists who’ve left Xinjiang say China just wants to shut this story down. They accuse the government of going after family members they’ve left behind.

So what’s being done about it?

Well, at the United Nations dozens of countries have condemned what’s happening to the Uighurs but they can’t exactly pass a resolution against China because it has veto power in the Security Council. Uighurs even asked the International Criminal Court to investigate but that went nowhere because the ICC has no jurisdiction in China plus China has a way of throwing its weight around. Multi-billion-dollar investment projects around the world are seen as helping to keep countries onside. The US has also blacklisted Chinese officials and blocked certain imports from Xinjiang and just before President Trump left the White House his secretary of state called what China’s doing a genocide.

1. REDDIT:

Reddit has banned the subreddit group "r/DonaldTrump," While not an official group or page hosted by the president, it's one of the company's largest political communities dedicated to support for President Trump.

2. TWITCH:

Twitch disabled Trump's channel, citing the move as a "necessary step" to protect its community and "prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence." Twitch was one of the first platforms in June to temporarily ban Trump's channel for hateful content around the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.

3. SHOPIFY:

Shopify took down two online stores affiliated with Trump his organization and his campaign's merchandise sites for violating its policies on supporting violence. Shopify had until Friday gone the farthest in actually de-platforming Trump, as his stores were permanently removed, not temporarily disabled.

4. TWITTER:

Twitter announced Friday the platform will permanently ban President Trump's account effective immediately. It's Twitter's strongest-ever action against the president's account and comes in response to the "risk of further incitement of violence," per the social media company.

5. GOOGLE:

Google has pulled Parler, a social media app for conservatives and far-right extremists. Google’s move immediately suspends Parler, going further than Apple's earlier decision to remove the app unless it submits a content moderation plan.

6. YOUTUBE:

YouTube is accelerating its enforcement of election misinformation and voter fraud claims against Trump and other channels. YouTube did remove the video Trump posted Wednesday that addressed the Capitol violence without fully condemning it.

7. FACEBOOK:

TikTok is removing content violations and redirecting hashtags like #stormthecapitol and #patriotparty to its community guidelines.

Apple on Friday threatened to remove right-wing-friendly social media app Parler from its App Store if Parler doesn’t lay out a plan to moderate its content. Apple is flexing its power to try to get Parler to moderate its content.

12. DISCORD:

Discord says it has banned server The Donald, per journalist Casey Newton. The Discord account was connected to the pro-Trump social network TheDonald.Win.

13. PINTEREST:

Pinterest has been limiting hashtags related to pro-Trump topics such as #StopTheSteal since around the November election, a spokesperson said. Trump doesn't have a Pinterest account, and the platform has tried to stay away from political content, but Pinterest hasn't been able to squelch it completely.

National Informatics Centre (NIC) computers hacked

New Delhi, massive security breach, a malware has attacked approximately 100 computers of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the govt nodal agency which is liable for securing critical cyber-infrastructure within the country and comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Delhi Police's Special Cell begun an investigation into the matter. Registered a case under the Information Technology (IT) Act. Initial investigation has revealed that an email from a firm in Bengaluru is suspected created the malware.

An employee at MeitY said in his police complaint that he was unable to access his email which was something suspicious. It was found that not just his computer, but several others, too, were compromised, an alarm was raised.

During the preliminary investigation, it was found that several of these systems had received an email, suspected to be a malware attack. When the users clicked on the email, their systems were affected. The origins of the bug are traced to an IT company in Bengaluru.

Computers at NIC's cyber hub contain crucial information and data on India's security, citizens and important government functionaries, including the prime minister, National Security Advisor, the house minister, among others.

NIC helps within the implementation of national and state-level e-governance projects, provides consultancy to government departments and for research and development.

Chemical explosive ammonium nitrate, the last batch of around 700 tons is being moved from Chennai to an explosives manufacturer in the state of Telangana, but some people living near its new location didn't know about the huge blast in lebanon's capital or the chemical being stored just three kilometers from their homes. It was the ammonium nitrate explosion in Beirut on August 4th that prompted customs officers in chennai to move the 700 tonnes of the explosive chemical being stored in a container freight yard on the outskirts of the city.

They have been demanding a new leadership for months, many were injured in running battles that lasted for hours but this time they say they won't be silenced they want justice and revenge for the victims of the explosion and believe a government-led inquiry into the disaster won't hold senior officials accountable.

Protesters also storm three ministries state institutions people say are run by corrupt politicians who they blame for draining the state's treasury, they say they want a state and a competent government currently Lebanon's institutions are controlled by political parties and there is a parallel state run by the iranian-backed Hezbollah, the prime minister Hassan Diab who took office early this year is now offering a way out of the crisis.

Early elections have been one of the opposition's demands, but there are concerns the sectarian-based political system and electoral law won't give independent candidates a chance.

It's not the first time central beirut turns into a battleground between the people and the establishment, the struggle for change is not new the anger has been building for years. Many feel those in power caved in by proposing early elections the governing alliance is not just facing pressure from the street the state is nearly bankrupt and the international community won't help unless politicians fight state corruption, for now many people here feel they won a round in what is likely to be a long battle.

Air India Crash: Dubai - Kozhikode Air India flight splits in two on Karipur runway.

An Air India Flight from Dubai to Kozhikode in Kerala crashed at the Calicut International Airport also referred to as the Karipur airport while landing on Friday night.

It's unclear right now how many people were on board, several people are injured in the incident. The injured are taken to hospitals near the airport, which is in Malappuram. The incident happened around 7.40 pm on Friday. The aircraft seems to own overshot the tabletop runway and plunged 30 feet down. This resulted aircraft splitting with serious damage to the cockpit area.

Currently, it's raining heavily in Kozhikode. Usually flights are diverted to the nearby airports if the weather is bad at the Karipur airport, since it is a tabletop airport. However, it wasn't done on Friday.

A member of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) who is at the airport told Malayalam news channels that there have been no serious injuries and everybody has been shifted to hospitals. Many ambulances had been rushed to the spot.

A massive explosion in the heart of the lebanese capital Beirut, the blast sent shockwaves across Beirut shattering windows destroying buildings and injuring hundreds the streets were filled with panic and confusion. Rescue work began quickly emergency vehicles converged on the site of the blast putting out fires and getting the injured to safety.

Lebanon's internal security chief Abbas Ibrahim confirmed the blast originated in the port district in a section housing highly -explosive materials, Lebanon's prime minister Hassan Diab addressed the nation promising that "the victims would get justice for what happened, it will not pass without accountability those responsible for this catastrophe will pay the price, this is a promise to the martyrs and injured this is a national commitment"

Ambulances continue to arrive at the scene of the explosion there have been dozens of casualties many victims are still trapped in the rubble and rescue work looks set to continue long into the night, the destruction of central Beirut appeared to come out of nowhere and as the shock of what happened subsides the demands for answers will continue to grow louder.

At least 21 people have been killed and 42 others injured in an attack on a prison in eastern Afghanistan officials say there were several explosions including a suicide car bomb outside the prison in the city of Jalalabad, afghan security forces are locked in a gun battle with the attackers several prisoners escaped during the fighting ISIL claimed responsibility.

It's believed that a vast amount of Daesh or ISIL members who are imprisoned in this very prison, so if daesh has taken responsibility the primary motive could be to make sure that to sort of release their prisoners and this is what they have done, the initial reports says that there are about 1,500 prisoners in the prison and 500 of them have been able to escape which the government claims that they were able to capture them all after they evaded the prison, primary motive could be that the daesh wanted to have its members out of the prison, jalalabad is located in eastern afghanistan this is where the strongholds of daesh were since 2014, 2015.

Kunar province, Nuristan province, Laghman province and Nangarhan province is this eastern area where had the presence of daesh and this is where majority of their prisoners are kept and perhaps they wanted to infiltrate and have their prisoners released.

There are two messages that could be taken from what has happened in jalalabad one is that it had numerous press statements, press releases, speeches of various government officials this includes president Ghani and the national security adviser over and over bragging about the defeat of daesh in afghanistan and how the afghan government have done so well and eliminating and uprooting the phenomena of daesh and what has happened today is basically contradicting the claims of the afghan government.

This is the alleged ringleader of the twitter hacking two weeks ago the 17 year old Graham Clark is from tampa in florida he faces 30 charges including computer intrusion, fraud, money laundering and identity theft he's one of three young men accused of hacking the accounts of famous people and scamming their followers into sending digital money.

Andrew Warren (Hillsborough state attorney) "He gained access to twitter accounts into the internal controls of twitter through compromising a twitter employee. He sold access to those accounts, he then used the identities of prominent people to solicit money in the form of bitcoin promising in return that he would send back twice as much bitcoin he then collected and of course never gave back the bitcoin that he received from the victims."

Police say the highly sophisticated cyber attack targeted 130 twitter accounts among them u.s presidential candidate Joe Biden, former u.s president Barack Obama, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and billionaire Bill Gates the suspects are accused of taking over their accounts and posting charitable messages asking for money, they received hundreds of cryptocurrency transfers into a bitcoin account worth around a hundred thousand dollars police say they stopped the scam before more money was stolen.

U.S justice department identified the other two suspects by accessing their online chats and bitcoin transactions, 22 year old Nima Fazeli in Orlando also known online as Rolex from the U.S state of florida a 19 year old Mason Shepherd nicknamed chai won from the UK, court papers suggest they were lured in by the ringleader with the promise of highly prized short twitter usernames known as OG handles they are all facing either federal or state criminal charges including computer intrusion, fraud, money laundering, wire fraud and identity theft twitter says the hackers were able to access the private messages of 36 of 130 hacked accounts including one for an elected official in the Netherlands but after one of the most high-profile online security breaches in recent years twitter says its fast-tracking security improvements prevent further scams targeting both employees and users.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray has told the state cabinet that this present lockdown norms across the state would be relaxed from August 1.

Maharashtra govt had earlier extended the lockdown across the state till July 31. Western state, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in India.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray said "I'm not using the word 'lockdown', I'll call it 'unlockdown'. Current restrictions would be relaxed further. We're within the strategy of further strengthening the health infrastructure in Mumbai Metropolitan region within a week. However, since there has been a sudden increase cases in rural parts of the state, strict measures will have to be taken there"

State govt will wait for the Centre's Guidelines on 'Unlock 3.0', with the continuing 'Unlock 2.0' scheduled to finish on July 31. As per the report, the govt thinks that the Centre wouldn't grant permission to reopen gyms, swimmimg pools and restaurants in urban areas, or allow buses in urban and rural areas.

Mumbai is the second worst hit city after Delhi, cities like Nagpur nd Pune, too, are among the worst hit within the country.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has lifted lockdown in the areas except for the hotspots. The lockdown is extended only in hotspots till 31 July. In an order, the TMC said shops selling essential goods like groceries and diary will be allowed to remain open from 9 am to 5 pm.

Increase of 1,822 COVID-19 cases in Thane on Saturday took the district's count to 65,927, while 43 deaths increased the toll to 1,870. Thane and Navi Mumbai reported 10 deaths each during the day, while Kalyan led the case count with 475, followed by Navi Mumbai at 352 and Thane at 342.

"Kalyan and Thane have more than 16,000 cases each while Navi Mumbai has crossed the 11,000 mark. The recovery rate in the district further improved to 62.34%," the official informed. Palghar district has 11,403 cases, while 212 people have died there of the infection.

Building Collapse in Malad Malwani: Maharashtra government announces Rs 4 Lakh compensation to victims said by environment minister Aditya Thackeray.

The government has announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh to the victims’ families. The announcement was made by Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray.

Six people died and 13 others were injured when a two-storey house collapsed near Noori Masjid in Malad Malwani. The government has announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the victims. This information was given by the state’s environment minister Aditya Thackeray.

This accident happened due to heavy rain in Mumbai. Officials from the police and fire department rushed to the spot and rescue operations were started. However, the heavy rain was hampering the rescue operations. The police and firefighters have rescued about 15 people from the collapsed building.

Aditya Thackeray directed the district administration to provide immediate assistance to the families of the victims. Apart from Rs 4 lakh to the families of the dead, the injured will be given Rs 5,000 each. The accident happened at 2:38 pm on Thursday. A two-storey house in Malad Malvani had collapsed.

The district administration has also been asked to immediately provide assistance to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund. The government has also directed the administration to provide temporary shelter for the homeless.
