OMG this is the best series ever!!! It just continues to get better and better, twisting and turning like crazy. I’m so upset that the next installment ‘Shadowfever’ will be the last in the Fever series. I am completely addicted to these characters and the best thing is that if you’ve read some of Moning’s books that include the Fae and the MacKeltar’s, this book ties in perfectly with those even including some of the same characters.

However, you do not need to have read any of Monings’ other series to get this one… you do however have to start at the beginning of this series and read them in order. For all that have not experienced these books you must give them a shot. Don’t even bother to order them online, it will take to long to deliver. Drive straight to your local bookstore and pay whatever they ask. They’re worth it.

Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole

Kiss of a Demon King was a good, solid 4 stars. It has tons of humor, drama, action, eroticism and romance, also sporting the fantastically original set of characters that Cole is known for. The only reason that I would not give it 5 stars is that Cole’s writing style can get a little simplistic and predictable at times but not to such a degree that her novels are not enjoyable.

I would rank her squarely alongside Katie MacAlister. Both Cole’s Immortals After Dark“>Immortals After Dark series and MacAlister’s Aisling Grey, Guardian“>Aisling Grey, Guardian series are very similar, not in storyline, but in originality, humor and romance.

If you haven’t read any of this series you can start anywhere you like. Although the characters are the same in all, each book stands alone well. Basically it’s another great paranormal romance by Kresley Cole.

Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

Bone Crossed is #4 in the Mercy Thompson series and although I normally L. O. V. E. this series this book irritated me a little. I’m not sure I like this new, damaged and unsure of herself Mercy. I did like her interaction with the pack and our new insight into pack magic, but her back and forth with Adam is becoming tiring and I just plain feel sorry for Samuel.

Still, the storyline of the book is still as good as ever, it just seemed to miss the mark a little with action and intensity. When I finished reading I was left with the hope that Briggs isn’t going to permanently change Mercy’s character because of her rape and that the next book will be back to normal. Overall, Bone Crossed reminded me more of the a Kelley Armstrong“>Kelley Armstrong novel than a Mercy Thompson novel… and no there’s nothing wrong with Kelley Armstrong. I like her too. I was just expecting Patricia Briggs.

I got to wondering today – there are so many vampire books now, lots of werewolves, too. Authors are getting more and more creative with the types of paranormals they come up with. I’m wondering if people are tired of the classics or still love them. What are you tired of? What do you want more of?

Skin Trade by Laurell K Hamilton

Anita is back!! I was beginning to think she was lost forever hahaha!

I have always been a huge Laurell K fan, up until the past few novels that is. I was so disappointed with them that I didn’t even know this one was out until I saw it in stores. I had slipped so far that I was even able to hold myself back from buying it and wait for it to become available in the library. I think my problem was that I liked the old mystery solving Anita, and not so much the books totally focused on the men in her life. This book was almost a return to that. I loved Edward and the extremely creepy Otto character and I liked the wrapping up of the whole ‘mother of all darkness’ storyline, even if it was almost completely anti-climatic. I was beginning to wonder where she was going with it and even now I can’t believe after this thread of storyline was in so many books, she ended it that quickly.

However, overlooking the fact that the ending did fall a little flat, I still enjoyed it more than I have any of her books lately. I would love it if Hamilton could completely return Anita back to the days of raising the dead and solving mysteries, while still including all of the great steamy erotic scenes.
