Not Recommended, doesn't fit in the DELL 944 all-in-one photo printer. I wasn't paying close attention when I ordered & only realized after receiving my merchandise that these were not DELL items but since I had them in hand decided to go with it. When the ink went dry & I tried to insert the replacement into my printer it didn't fit so I went online and ordered directly from DELL and I will continue to do so. My color ink hasn't run dry yet but I will write another review as soon as I discover if that cartridge turns out to be useless to me as well.

Canon MP980 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer Review

I have now been using this printer/scanner for over two weeks. This replaces an old HP multifunction device which had problems with my Mac when printing over the network.
I work from home and have several computers running, Vista, XP and OSX and wanted them to share a printer/scanner. I must admit the driver setup is not the cleanest, and I needed to download versions newer than on the supplied disk to enable printing from 64bit applications on the mac. The only setup I got stuck on was that it is not clear that you need to have the printer connected by USB to create the initial connection to a secure wi-fi network.
Now that its up an running it works a dream enabling me to print and scan from any computer anywhere in the house. The scanning is decent (I don't have a huge quality need, but I can't complain about anything I've scanned), the printing is stunning. Colors are accurate for photos and the double sided printing is a great paper saver for general printing.
The only things which I feel could improve this device, for my purposes, are a document feeder for bulk scanning and a built in fax capability.

I was so excited to finally get my bluetooth adapter to enable me to print wirelessly to my epson Picture Mate. Boy was I disappointed! It takes 20 MINUTES to print a single picture compared to less than 2 minutes with the USB cable. I have a brand new Dell laptop that has plenty of memory and RAM, so that is not the issue as the owners manuel suggests. I would NOT recommend this product. I am sending it back and will say goodbye to wireless photo printing.

I don't think there is any offense greater than passing off a refurbished (and poorly at that) product as "new". What I received were old Epson cartridges, drilled, refilled, and a "new" label taped over the Epson label. They did not even work in my printer since the chip was different.

Canon Pixma MP530 Office All-In-One Inkjet Photo Printer Review

You should be aware that this printer has a serious "ink low" behavior. When any ink cartridge is getting low (which still means a lot of ink left by the way), it changes the Fax reception model. Instead of printing your faxes as they arrive, it dumps them into memory. So, even though yellow (say) is low, it will not print your B&W fax!
It takes more than 5 steps to print the fax and delete it (menu, scroll to memory item, ok, scroll to print, OK document, scroll to print all pages, ok, menu to go up, scroll to delete, ok to delete, ok to delete, menu to get out).
Worse, after a couple of these, the memory is mixed up. So, when you want to send a Fax, it will say "memory full" even though the memory is empty. You then have to power cycle the printer (hold down on/off for 1 second, wait 10 seconds, power on, wait for it to get ready (another 10-20 seconds).
This means you either have to waste ink by throwing out cartridges before they are empty, or you have to deal with this mess. Canon says there is no workaround or fix for this.
There are 3 other problems with copying you should know before you buy (I wish I did):
1. You cannot use the Auto Document Feeder (sheet feeder) when copying or scanning with any setting in auto (exposure, size, etc). It does not make any of that clear, so if you find it refuses the auto doc feeder, reset everything to manual :-(
2. Black duplex printing uses color cartridges for one of the sides, so uses the more expensive ink. That is, it does not use the blank ink for both sides.
3. Copying speeds are much slower than the blurb implies. If you make 10 copies of one page, it is as fast as they say. If you copy multiple pages, each one takes much much longer, does the scan, and then does the print. Also, if any setting is in auto mode, it does a two pass scan (one to check the page), and that takes a really long time.

These cartridges fit in my Canon MP210, but after about 10 print jobs the printer insisted they were empty and needed replacement. Even when I troubleshooted the printer and pressed the "force print" button, the printer wouldn't work with them. I'd go for [...] if you want recycles print cartridges. I've never had a problem with their cartridges.

Ilford Galerie 4 x 6 Inch Smooth Pearl Paper 100 Sheets (1141216) Review

Ilford is well known in photography circles for making quality photo paper for dark room use, so I am not surprised at the quality of their inkjet photo papers. I use this paper exclusively to produce photos on my Canon Pixma iP5000 printer. I started off using Canon products as recommended but found the finish of those papers to be very fragile to moisture and scratching. Even with very careful handling I couldn't even get the photo into my albums without surface scratching. Matte finish Canon papers did not give the vibrant results I wanted. I tried several other brands as well, but could not get the true photo-like results that I wanted. I stopped searching after my first print on Ilford pearl finish paper. This paper is heavyweight and feels like a standard photograph. If you don't know it's printed on a desktop, you won't be able to tell without a magnifying glass. The finish is incredibly durable and can be passed around from person to person without damage. The base of the paper is a very bright white, leading to nice contrast in photos, bright whites, and vibrant colors. I do have to adjust the yellows (-15) for my printer, but this isn't a flaw, just a facet of printing on a desktop printer. I have had photos hanging in frames under standard glass on my walls for almost two years now and haven't had any issues of color deterioration. My albums are equally stable.
Overall an excellent photo paper!

Been using the HP02 inks for about a year and they have all been great (as expected). Just started using the HP 02XL inks this past month and am equally satisfied. Standard B&W text is crisp and the photos I print have that extra "pop" on the page. I have never used non-OEM inks and never will. I also like the fact that I can go to HP's web site and print off shipping labels to return the spent cartridges back to HP for "free".

Canon PIXMA iP5000 Photo Printer Review

I originally bought the Epson R200 because it was cheaper, but that printer guzzled ink like an SUV. So, I exchanged it for this printer, whose photos are just as good as the Epson (on glossy paper), with about 1/5 the ink costs. In the one year I had this printer (resulting in thousands of prints) the cheaper ink costs paid for themselves many times over.
One downside to the Canon is a tendency towards yellow tints (but you can adjust this). Also, the head-cleaning mechanism failed after a year of heavy use. By then I'd made thousands of prints, so I wasn't too upset, and in fact replaced the printer with an identical model.
The Pixma 5000's prints look stunningly great on glossy photo paper. They actually look better than the photo labs I've used, in my opinion. Contrast and color are great. Most 4-ink printers (as opposed to the 6-ink or 8-ink printers) suffer from "dithering", i.e. they give you tiny little dots instead of smooth colors, but the Canon has almost no visible dithering. The Canon's colors tend to be slightly yellow, but this can be adjusted in the print settings.
In photo quality, the Pixma 5000 beat every other 4-color Canon or Epson printer at my local store. Epson's "Durabright" printers pale in comparison, as do Canon's various all-in-one copier/scanner/printers.
However, photos on plain paper do not look good, and lack contrast and crispness. This is actually a problem with most inkjet printers, though the Epson R200 seems to do a better job with plain paper than the Canon, mainly because its black inks are somewhat darker. Printing on matte paper is also tricky - midtones come out too dark, so photos look dull and muddy unless you lighten the midtones in Photoshop.
The Pixma's small 1 picoliter droplets really help with text, which is crisper and sharper than the Epson R200. Text pages also print quite fast.
Best of all, the Canon is unusually efficient with ink. I got an impressive number of photos (over 250 glossy 4x6's) with each color cartridge, and almost 300 photos with the black cartridge. The Epson only gave me 50-60 photos per cartridge set. Not only do the Canon cartridges last longer, they are cheaper, and there are only 4 instead of 6 to buy. By my estimate, Canon ink costs 5-7 times less per page than Epson. In the long run this is a HUGE difference, and more than makes up for the slightly higher cost of the printer itself.
I have only one major gripe: After about 6 months of use, the printer's self-cleaning mechanism failed. This caused black streaks on the edge of prints. Cleaning the print head would help temporarily, but the streaks would return soon. After one year of heavy use, I had to replace the printer. But I definitely got my money's worth, and then some. Overall, this is still one of the best inkjet printers I've ever seen, combining high quality, low maintenance costs, and versatility with text and graphics.

Canon PIXMA iP5000 Photo Printer Overview

Printing professional quality photos from home has become a reality, thanks to easy-to-use photo printers like the Canon PIXMA ip5000. By combining five-color printing and a 1,856-nozzle print head that's capable of delivering superfine 1-picoliter ink droplets (up to 22 million droplets per inch), the ip5000 delivers stunningly accurate prints that should leave professional photo labs a little worried.
Color resolution is as high as 9,600 x 2,400 dpi, with black-and-white resolution of up to 600 x 600 dpi. Print speeds are as high as 25 ppm in black, 17 ppm in color, while a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo can take as little as 36 seconds. The same drive system responsible for the ip5000's improved print speeds also results in a low 34 dB(A) noise level. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)
Precision Color Distribution Technology Unlike other systems, nozzle configuration in Bubble Jet printers is simple, so it is easier to make them smaller and more dense. Using its superior semiconductor manufacturing technology, Canon has succeeded in developing an ultrahigh-precision, multinozzle print head. The problem of color inconsistency has been solved by positioning a mirror-image line of 128 nozzles (600 dpi pitch for each color) at a half-pitch offset from the existing line. I bought this because I needed a serial & parallel port on my laptop. It did not work for my HP printer (I should have checked with HP first!) makes me wonder what their "works with hundreds of printers" ad-line means. The driver installation for windows is not something a novice user would want to deal with when it goes wrong (I had to uninstall/reinstall, and even then it's got to be in perfect sequence or the device won't show up).
And for even the slightest power-drain on the USB bus, this device won't deliver -- in all it became nothing more than a lit up chunk of plastic sitting behind my notebook. I've opted to return it for refund.
Oh, and I contacted Keyspan about the printer problem, 7 days later and I've heard nothing. That's not tech support in my book.

Be careful, the description of this printer is incorrect, it is not a "wireless" printer. I checked it out on the Brother Manufacturing website, and no where in the description does it say anything about being a wireless printer on their website. I bought this printer, and found out the hard way. I had to return it, which was no problem with Amazon's easy returns. It was just frustrating because I had to order another printer and wait for that one to come.

When I wrote the vendor to ask about where the second cartridge was, they rudely replied that one is all I get, regardless of their incorrect listing. I have a Ricoh color printer and I was looking for a really top quality color laser paper that can handle auto-duplexing. This product by HP is the real thing. Many reams later I've not experienced a single misfeed or problem. This paper has a top quality feel that has customers and others checking to see if two sheets are stuck together.
Print quality (yeah, I know, much of this is due to the Ricoh CL400DN) on this paper is truly outstanding, highly detailed and durable. Paper dust is held to an absolute minimum ... there is simply nothing to not like about this product. I've tried a bunch of other papers / brands and I've found nothing else that even comes close.
If you've shelled out for a good or high quality color laser printer, do yourself and give it good paper on which to print. Buy a ream and try it, you'll never go back to what you were using.

Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F Color Image Scanner (3297B002) Review

I wasn't planning on getting another scanner until I foolishly decided to clean the inside and outside of the glass on my old HP scanner because the underside was cloudy. I got rid of the smokey glass but added lint:( so I checked the specs on this scanner since there weren't many reviews on it and decided to take a chance on buying the LiDE 700F because of the image resolution and price.
I couldn't be happier that I messed up the old scanner. This one makes excellent scans and makes things very easy to enlarge when printing. It is also very lightweight and easy to store. One of the better things is that it all works with one USB cord. I really am impressed with the quality of the scan although I don't believe that it actually scans at the speed that is advertised. It does seem slower than what the specs list and that is at the default scanning resolution for me. That issue doesn't bother me though because it fits my needs perfectly. Resolution is easily adjusted but the higher the resolution the slower the scan.
I use it (and carry it) between 3 different computers in 3 different rooms. It works flawlessly on Windows XP, Windows Vista 32 bit, Windows Vista 64 bit, and Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit. It comes with its own software which works well although I prefer to use it through Adobe Photoshop.
Picture scans come out excellent and the color correction is great but not perfect. It has restored some old photos very well for me. Scanning text is easy and having the four buttons on the front make scanning for e-mail, .pdf, copies, and scans faster.
I do not have slides to scan so cannot comment on the quality of slide scans although I am extremely curious due to the very high maximum pixel count for slide scans.
I like this scanner immensely because of the light weight, portability between machines I use, that it requires only one USB plug, and the great scanned images. I do agree with another reviewer that the cover does feel flimsy and could be broken by someone not careful but that does not concern me much even thought I carry this from room to room depending on what machine I need to use. Just use the same care as you would with your laptop and you will be fine.
I would not hesitate to recommend this scanner for high resolutions scans for people on a budget. This is a great scanner! I have no regrets having purchased this scanner.
BTW: This is my first straying from HP scanners since 1995. Beware HP! Canon has won me over.
EDIT: (Addition 3/7/10) Works flawlessly with Windows 95, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7.
I also have to retract my statement about color correction. This machine scans so well that the image of something I scanned, using this scanner, was better than the actual item according to the person who bought the item. I was accused of "Photoshopping" a picuture because the image was so much better than the actual paper money the scan was used to represent. It was only scanned (using the scanner software - not imported into Photoshop), cropped only, and not altered using software. Now that's an impressive scanner!

HP Scanjet 4850 Photo Scanner (L1950A#B1H) Review

I've never been so frustrated by a piece of equipment in my life. I had an older HP scanner that died after scanning thousands of documents, so I naturally looked to upgrade to a newer HP model. This thing is terrible. It worked fine for about a week, but then I started getting errors in the scans. Soon after that the scanner began freezing up regularly and then it ceased to work altogether. I went to the HP web site looking for a patch, and what do you know? A lot of people have been having the same trouble and they had a software patch that would supposedly fix the problem. Unfortunately the patch doesn't help.
At this point, the scanner works about 1 in every 10 tries. It usually freezes up, which then requires a total reboot of Windows. I've managed to get 3 things scanned this morning in about 30 minutes. This scanner is headed for the garbage if a new patch isn't available soon.
Update: I have now downloaded SIX PATCHES from HP's web site and the scanner appears to be working. Obviously it is the software that is incompatible with the combination of Windows XP and various other imaging programs I have loaded on my computer (HP warns about this). I have software for Canon and Fuji digital cameras, so they may be the culprit. In any case, I still wouldn't recommend this scanner given the compatibility issues that come with it.
2nd Update: It is now two months since I posted my original review and I definitely stand by it. I continue to have problems making this thing work right. It's so frustrating whenever I want to scan a document to keep an electronic record of something and I have to shut down my computer or start and stop the scanner. I can usually make it work, but it is NEVER simple and ALWAYS time consuming.
Another Update: Today has been pretty typical of what it's like to try and use this awful scanner. I had six documents to scan. The first three scanned fine. The scanner locked up on the 4th one. Had to reboot and start over (it erased the first 3 scans). This time I scanned 3 documents, stopped and saved everything, then went to my other 3 documents. Now it locked up on the 2nd document. Keep in mind, when it locks up, you can't cancel the job. You have to reboot and start over. By the way, the error message I got told me to reinstall the software yet again. I'm wondering how many of the patches are included in the latest version of the software because I seem to add at least one patch every week.
Final Update: The scanner was destroyed by office workers angry that it failed to perform even the simplest of tasks. Rumor has it that it was thrown from a 3rd floor balcony and then run over repeatedly with a delivery truck. In any case, this was the worst piece of electronic equipment I have seen in 20 years. We connected it to state-of-the-art computers and it was remarkably awful on a very consistent basis. Sorry HP, you're not what you used to be. Canon anyone?

right out of the box this printer made great prints for pennies on the dollar, we picked this up because we're using a large format inkjet for proofs and it was eating us alive on print costs, for the price of the one set of large-format Epson ink cartridges we got this printer with toner included and have been very happy with the results, with almost no setup is very color accurate for a four color process printer, with almost no installation it went right onto the PCs and Macs and we haven't had a single problem with it. the prints are cheap enough that we can just give them away as proofs and not be concerned with the cost, and the media it prints on his very cost efficient in the printer itself is very reliable.

I have used this product several times. The ink is amazing. It prints tons of pages before it runs out. I figured I'd come on Amazon.com to see if I could buy a better deal. To my surprise, I thought I could! I purchase the item, knowing how great the item would be, only to have it come in a torn up plastic bag. The ink was refilled instead of new (not that that's a big issue; considering recylcing), but when you advertise new-you need to sell new. Secondly, the item description said, "XL". When I received the package, it was only the regular-WHICH I COULD HAVE BOUGHT ON AMAZONG FOR $11 AND LOCALLY FOR $18! INSTEAD I PAID $32. I emailed the seller to try and fix the problem (money back, secondary ink cartriage, something!) and didn't receive a response. I emailed again and I have yet to receive anything. Watch who you are buying from! After a few uses, the ink was smearing and all! I am extremely disappointed in this rip-off Canal Street ink cartriage. I would have been better off buying in person!
I got ripped off! Don't let it happen to you!
