Luxpro wins Apple copycat suit

Luxpro, a manufacturer of mp3 players that was sued by Apple for copying it's iPod Shuffle has win the lawsuit. However, things won't end this easily; Luxpro proceeded to countersuing Apple for the sales lost due to Apple's sue.

Luxpro who created Super Tangent won in the courtroom, after a decision from Shihlin District court claiming that the two products were "significantly dissimilar". With this win, Luxpro is suing back Apple for $100 millions for it's lost of sales for 1 year. Let's hope Apple didn't get bankrupt for this.

Hitachi DeskStar 7K1000 break-through

Hitachi words for breaking the 1IB hard drive barrier was not just a joke. Today, Hitachi announced their new Hitachi DeskStar 7k1000 Drive that break throught that barrier. This New hard drive is estimated around $400, available in both SATA II and PATA 133 variaties. This Drive also features different speed modes, a 32MB buffer and a 7200rpm spindle speed that will hit the tech market this week.

According to some sources, Hitachi also produced a new CinemaStar 7K1000, a DVD-centric drive that will hit the market on late January however this drive apparently suffer from "adaptive error recovery". However, Hitachi announced that this product will soon be on market and all errors will be fixed

Nokia and Samsung sued by U.S. Group

Today, The Washington Researched Foundation sued Nokia, Samsung Electronic and Matsushita-owned Panasonic for copying the pattern for wireless bluetooth technology. This is a big case for these mobile phone maker leader, but lucky for Sony Ericsson. In early of 1990, Jaap Haarsten( Swedish Ericsson's Engineer) has been credited with the invention of Bluetooth during his research on Bluetooth technology.

According to The Washington Researched Foundation,"Defendants have manufactured, used, imported into the United States, sold and offered for sale devices which, or the use of which, infringes at least the '963' patent" and that was a serious matter. The Washington Researched Foundation has filled a report of complaint at the United States Western District Court of Washington State at Seattle.

Nokia and Samsung declined to comment about the case. But for sure The Washington Researched Foundation has enough proofs to sue Nokia,Samsung and Panasonic. Let's see how Nokia,Samsung and Panasonic battle The Washington Researched Foundation.

It's fixing time

Today Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom.Co announced that two repair ship has dispatch from Taiwan and will start fixing undersea cables damage that was caused by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that destroy some of the major undersea cables that result in a major disruption to telephone and internet links in Asia. Chunghwa Telecom.Co announced that the repair time will take approximately 2 - 3 weeks time. Chunghwa Telecom.Co also added that two more ships will join in later. Chunghwa Telecom.Co official, Chan Tze-yee confidence that by the end of January or early February, all major cables serving in Hong Kong and other countries in Asia region should be fully recovered. He estimated that the repair cost is about 50 Million new Taiwan dollars (around US$1.5 million)

Guess what's happen on e-bay? It's snowing, full of genuine Colorado snow. One of the resident in Colorado is selling snow with a code name "Blizzard I and Blizzard II" on e-bay for a 99 cents starting bid. Mary Walker and her husband(Colorado Resident), got the idea of selling the snow after shoveling mounds around 4 feet high along the Front Range. Walker said" "I figured eBay has ghosts and all sorts of weird stuff, so why not snow?" She didn't expect that people will buy their snow stock.

I just started this tech blog like around 2 weeks ago, the reason i started this blog is that i have this dream when i was around 15 years old. Anyway that dream vanish long and i revive it now. When i finish my high school; i continue studying at UTS in Sydney. It's my second year now, everythings goes smooth. I learn a lot about IT related things, i started this blog as my stepping stone to a more bigger website. Some of other blog like Digital Insipration by Amit Agarwal and Problogger by Darren has inspired me to improve myself.Then i spent some time to reflect back what i have done for this 2006 year and started to think my plan for next 2007 year, i listed all of them here:
1. Trying to find a good domain name for my web
2. Keep studying about SEO
3. Try to get more traffic into my webs
4. Update more unique post to you guys
5. Find a good web hosting
6. Increase my revenue to $100/day at the end of 2007

My friend just email me and asked me to check on this cool face recognition website, i am surprised with it's coolnes or i can say it's technology. The person who created this website is really cool, it worked like this.First you have to register an account then you can submit your photo, remember the photo that you going to submit has to be just you alone inside the picture. Second, try to find a straight face picture, you know what i mean. Third, submit your photo and amazed of how they analyze your face and match with all the celebrities in the world. Believe me you will get amazed and addicted to it. Well, short term addict. Anyway, enjoy it.

It's shame, but it's true. Technorati was clearly owned by Google, my meaning of "owned "is beaten by. According to a research company HitWise Inc, "Ailing weblog search engine Techorati has been overtaken by Google" According to HitWise, Google's Blogsearch has seen a 168 per cent surge in traffic since Google started to promote the service more heavily in October. From it launch on 2003, Technorati has struggled to scale with growth in vanity publishing.

Seeing this news i tried to perform a Google blogsearch compare with Technorati blog search and the winner is obvious Google. Google took around 0-1 seconds to load the page that i type and what about Technorati? Technorati took around 20-30 seconds to load the pages and return with 0 result. What a shame. Beware of the "Happy New Year" worms

New year is coming soon, but do your computer have the best protection yet? Beware and stay alert, don't open all your email that contains "Happy New Year" message from the person that you don't recognize. VeriSign iDefense Labs revealed that "The Happy New Year" worm is being heavily spammed at a rate of five e-mails per second on at least one large network. This worm is similar to other attacks however in this case, it contains a file attachment called "postcard.exe" that users must download in order to infect the user's computer.

According to Ken Dunham, Director of VeriSign iDefence Intelligence Operations "If [the attachment is] executed, malicious code variants from Tibs, Nuwar, Banwarum, and Glowa variants are installed on the computer. It then performs a mass mailing from an infected computer"

How does this worm work? The "Happy New Year" worms will install two rootkit files as soon as the user download the "postcard.exe" file. Rootkit is a hacker that capture passwords and message traffic to and from the computer. It can also give hacker a backdoor to your system or your network. The worm then hide themselves in the system using this tools and spreads by spamming itself to addresses it steals from the user's files. This worm also disable your Windows firewall and other security system. There's been no cure to this attack, the only things you can do is keep alert of Happy New Year message from an unknown sender. DON'T OPEN IT, I REPEAT DON'T OPEN IT, or you will get infected by this worms. If you do as what i said, you will enjoy your holiday without worried about this worms. Have a happy holiday guys.

People as keep wondering the existence of iPhone and also whether Apple may or may not release it. iPhone is a combination of ipod and cellphone. The good news is iPhone does really exist, however the bad news is Apple isn't making it. The problem is that Cisco Systems, which owns the home networking company Linksys, has held iPhone trademark since 2000,giving it a right to sell something call iPhone.

According to CNN "Linksys announced several new iPhone products last week, including the WIP320, a small wireless handset that lets you make calls over Wi-Fi networks using the Skype service. Calls to other Skype users are free, and plans for calls to regular phones start at $14.95 for unlimited calling in the United States and Canada. International calls start at 2 cents a minute."

Apple fans that has waited long for the best combo of a phone and ipod will vanish? or maybe Apple will come out with a new name iCellular? iPoddy?

Amazon.com Inc's report that their sales in this Christmas season was the best,with more than 4 million orders placed on December 11 and around 3,6 million of orders on December 12. This is what you call making money. Although there are a lot of orders coming, Amazon.com said that they shipped more than 99 percent of orders in time to meet holiday deadlines around the globe. As many as 3.4 million units went out in a single day.According to Amazon, they even sold out 1000 Xbox in 29 seconds as part of a promotion that slashed two-thirds off the regular retail price.

It's really amazing to see how Amazon.com has gone so big and reliable, from meeting deadlines to organizing the orders to make sure that everything is ok. Let us applause

Cheating on a chess tournament using bluetooth

This is a surpirse, cheating in a chess game using bluetooth technology. If you don't have what it takes to enter a tournament why enter it. On Tuesday, an Indian chess player name Umakant Sharma was banned from competition for 10 years after he has been caught using a Bluetooth headset sewn into his cap to get help from computer.According to the All India Chess Federation, Sharma's accomplices relayed moves made by a computer chess program to him via the Bluetooth headset. The World Chess Federation also stress out that "It is strictly forbidden to bring mobile phones or other electronic means of communication, not authorized by the arbiter, into the playing venue," the group's rules read. "If a player's mobile phone rings in the playing venue during play, that player shall lose the game."

This is really a shocking news, player who used cheat in order to win a game can't be categorized as a chess player. The reason why you play chess is because you love playing chess and the reason why you enter a chess tournament because you want to challenge yourself. So tighten up your sportsmanship boys and girls.

Jimmy Wales, founder of online encyclopedia Wikipedia is planning to develop a new search engine code name "Wikiasari" and even more he hope that he can compete with Google and Yahoo. According to Jimmy Wales, "Human intelligence is still the best thing we have, so let's let humans do what they do best, and computers do what they do best." Wikiasari combines the Hawaiian word for quick, "wiki," with the Japanese word "asari," which means "rummaging search."Jimmy Wales planned to combine the user based technology that was used in Wikipedia with an open source Web-search code name Nutch(part of Apache Lucene project). Although he hasn't determined how his search engine is going to combine human intelligence and technology, but he's pretty confidence. He even stressed out that this search engine Wikiasari will be finish in 2 years. So let's see how Wikiasari can take over Google as the king of all search engine.

According to a report from UK, in the next 50 years; robot will be given the same right as human and even would be expected to vote and pay taxes.According to the report, there will be a time when robot can reproduce, improve themselves or gain artificial intelligence. Even the government hope to use robot as military force. This is a quote from the report "Humankind could engage in spirited debates as to how humans, animals and robots rank with respect to rights and responsibilities in our world," the report states. "Robots with advanced artificial intelligence could promote the development of schools of thought that see the human brain as nothing more than a special type of computer." This is so ridiculous, i mean how can they give the same human right to robot when we human are the one who created them. If this happen then there will be a time when robot take over human. Even robot can become a president? Robot conquer the world? Another World War? Or maybe the same situation as the IROBOT film? Give me your comments!!
