The “No, I Haven’t Seen (Insert Film Here)” Project

I think everyone I know has been through this situation with me at some point. In the course of a conversation a particular movie will be mentioned. I will then state that I haven’t seen said movie. The other person reacts with shock and states “*You* haven’t seen it?!”

As a sometimes-filmmaker, film degree holder, and geek, I am expected by friends and family to have seen many more movies than I actually have. Many of which I probably should have seen, but for various reasons have not. While wedding planning (and expenses) make shooting movies near impossible for now, watching movies and then writing about them is completely do-able.

So I ask you, my friends and family (and anyone else who may be reading this) to suggest movies that you think I positively must have seen by this point in life as a film buff and/or geek. If I have not seen the film, I will watch it and then post about it. Down the road I may even post video reviews (a la That Sci-Fi Guy). For now though all you will get from me is text (and my gratitude for putting more films into my brain).

To get you started, the most recent example I can think of was when a friend posted something about re-watching The Iron Giant, which I had not seen. (I have now though so think of something else.)

A version of it has moved onto Flickr and this photo from a crazy hacked together camera lens would fit right in. (The very first photo I posted to The Mirror Project was taken with the Kodak Palmpix about which more should be said someday.)

About a half hour or so into “Inception” it struck me that the whole thing was obviously as much about making movies as it was about dreams (in some ways even more so). So I’m not the least surprised to see it occurred to others, especially Devin of CHUD.
