huge package for a sunny monday morning. #1 hype esben and the witch was a little underrated over here until now. james yuill just took the step from being "a grey name" in my perception to: ok, thats pretty cool stuff. but the one's this post is about, are oxford's trophy wife. Pretty new name on my radar and just coming along with their second single "the quiet earth" on moshi moshi records feb 25th. first up there's the james yuill remix taking the original to a more synthed out dance level. flashlights, glitter and vocoder sound in the air.

i'm really excited to see one of my favorite bands back on the radar - well, at least one part of them. brooklyn based casey spooner is hitting 2011 with his solo album "adult contemporary" being released on molitor records. the album with the intriguing title contains two featurings with jake shears of scissor sisters on "spanish teenager" and marina abramovic, global contemporary art icon on the track "spirit cooking" as well as a cover of "creep" by the fall, co-produced by warren fischer. here's the first of a string of remixes for the single "spanish teenager" by acid washed.

discoverers of the likes as memory cassette and salem, the outstanding canadian imprint acéphale has impressed me with a solid selection of great releases in the past few years. now their at it again with a belated christmas present to all of us. celebrating the emergence of porcelain raft on his debut 7" "sweet sadness/sad sweetness" the label has put together a remix ep including the likes of keep shelly in athens, blood diamonds, nowa huta and blackbird blackbird. watch the video for "tip of your tongue" below.

hailing from nyc here's the brainchild of sebastian thomson, who is primarily known as the drummer from post-rock stalwarts trans am and the punk band weird war. Since he prefers to perform on the dance floor, rather than the stage, publicist claims to be "of the people and for the people". well, what we got here is some great mixing of live drums and vocoded vocals with spacey, arpeggiated dance rhythms. not so sure about the pic though...

io echo is leopold ross and ioanna gika from la and they've been spending the past year touring the us with the likes of the drums, florence and the machine, la roux and the big pink (for whom leopold plays the bass) as well as opening nine inch nails final ever show. coming along with their first single vinyl only on la's tastemaking label iamsound they have already convinced the critics from id to lush magazine. So you better catch them before they blow up!

Truffle Shuffle

Loads of good stuff landing in my inbox lately. One of these gems that i fished out of there, is definitely Cologne's new supercombo Truffle Shuffle. Consisting of Sub Static's Marc Lansley and Kompakt's Shumi this is definitely something to watch out for. Various collaborations within the european underground scene and with other international dance aficionado's made these two Cologne originals to irreplaceable figures in the game. Lately they've been getting in touch with a lot of of Kraut-Rock which you can clearly notice after checking out their first Remix for Walls, being released on Kompakt.

Besides their infamous DJ performances, they're now coming along with Truffle Shuffle. In this project they unify psychedelic kraut-rock, minimal-wave, a pinch of Chicago with symbolic mysticism and yes, the so called "Truffle Shuffle" famous from the Goonies. Here's also a DJ-Mix for your listening pleasure. Like i said, the really good stuff here.

The first time i got to listen to Anika was already a few months ago, but now it seems to turn out to become as big as i expected. So here we go, i got one fresh track off the self-titled debut album to share and an all new release of the album coming via Stones Throw and Invada for North America on Dec 7th.

Anika lives between Berlin and Bristol and works as a political journalist and music promoter. Through her job and a mutual friend she met none the less than Geoff Barrow, famous for his work as Portishead and for his latest project BEAK>. Together with the three band members of Barrow's latest project Anika joined forces with her "new band" and recorded the album in 12 days. The result is a fusion of 80's no wave, experimental rock, country, folk and whatever. Not a bad start for a new talent whose album was no more than an idea just a year ago.

DMA is back to introduce a new duo on Cologne's upcoming music scene: PEAK. The project between David Hasert and Damiano von Erckert is not something to be regarded as completely appearing out of nowhere. If you've been following the creative Newcomers in the last years you might have heard of David as one of the key players in Cologne's nightlife. Joining forces with deep house producer Damiano, he combines his pop appeal and widespread audience as a DJ with Damiano's deep and warm production to make PEAK one of the cities upcoming Duo's to watch out for.

A few things are coming up in the next week to shake up Cologne's dancefloors all over. First up there's next weeks (10.09.2010) premiere of our very own KI:DS night at the cities infamous Studio 672 club. We're running under the flag "Deep, Detroit, Danceable" that night and you should know what that means: To warm up we've invited the upcoming youngsters of Aroma Pitch to play one of their DJ-Sets. Taking it to the next level of DJ-Teams, we have the two boys of Hartchef Erk Richter & H.R. Schneider on the Decks known for their impeccable taste for deep electronic music and playing the clubs from Berlins Club der Visionäre to Jena's Kassablanca. The residents Marius Sahdeeq & Mitch (check their labels Ki Records and KI:DS) will team up for the after hours and cool the night down deep, detroit and danceable.

On Day two of this super-incredible journey we'll head over to Papierfabrik Ehrenfeld, where Cologne's ultraparty Like is teaming up with Cologne's youngsterparty Liebemachen for completely uncontrolled madness. To keep all this young, sexy energy positive, the directors on September 11th will be Keinemusik's Adam Port and Treibstoff's Marcel Janovsky. I for myself will be warming up for these two handsome guys. There's also gonna be an outdoor floor with secret guests and a second floor with headbanging ultra-get-drunk indie music. A night of mayhem, thats for sure!

Tiga / Motor City Drum Ensemble

Just the combination of these two names made me drool on my keyboard... One of my biggest DJ Idols ever and one of the most promising talents in contemporary club music united. Tiga's 2000/1 DJ Compilations "Mixed Emotions" and the following "American Gigolo" are still one of the most important pieces of music in my life and pretty much marked a starting point for me to get completely lost in club music.

Ali Love / Bottin and more

Following the Ali Love hype and complete pop sensation thats happening around him i still feel ok to keep on posting new remixes of him. Especially when such talented people like Bottin have their hands on Ali's tracks and turn the even pretty much acceptable pop songs into something even better. I just got a chance to listen to his debut album "Love Harder" (actually it wasn't a debut, if you consider his 2008 cancelled "Love Music") and must admit, that it's pretty much steady pop music ready to take him to the next level. Sometimes a bit too cheesy but still just as awesome as his "Diminishing Returns" Single that appeared last year, which is on the album as well.

Well, this one was remixed by none the less than Larry Heard and let's say this one's good to post, because it's Larry and it's got that smooth baseline that's so undisputed pure Mr. Fingers goodness. Introducing another master dreamwave act on the fantastic Acephale imprint. Besides the kind emails i receive from them i just feel obliged to support their incredibly good taste in music. They've proven an excellent hand when it comes to signing new artists by releasing the first Memory Cassette EP, CFCF, Midnight Juggernauts and more. I don't understand the whole fuss about the new MGMT Album "Congratulations" at all. They released a groundbreaking Debut-Album and now everyone is pissed about them not delivering another guaranteed success. For me it's just like the Peter, Bjorn & John Story back when they released their follow-up Album and everyone was talking about a "concept album" - big bullshit! After listening to MGMT's new album i have to admit that i'm really starting to respect them for their impeccable talent and to be able not to deliver what has been approved as the safe way leading to stardom, which would get me bored to death. After the success they had, it was the best decision to go into a different direction and start from scratch. For their new video they hired Ed Banger in-house visual artist So Me and for the remix of "It's Working" the french electronic maestro's of Air put their hands on for good.

Teenagersintokyo released their debut album Sacrifice and single End It Tonight through Back Yard Recordings (Chromeo, The Gossip) May 24th. The album was recorded at Bryn Derwen studios deep in the welsh countryside with the mainman of Faultline and twice mercury prize nominated Bat For Lashes producer David Kosten. Here's a remix by UK's Worship, which turns the original into a haunting piece of electronica really making me dig this a lot. I'm not a fan of the original at all, but i'm really happy to have discovered Worship that way - definitely something to watch out for!

I have to admit, it took me while to become an Acid Washed fan. The first time our ways crossed, was when i stumbled into this track called General Motors, Detroit, America. It was right at that time when everyone was talking about financial crisis and the world coming to an end. Now i got my hands on their self-titled debut album through that neat reminder in my inbox telling me some news about them and hooking me up with a remix for *gasp* Kelis they made. I gave it all a listen and was impressed by the versatility of the album and their impeccable talent for either synthed out french acid or moroderer-esque tunes reminding me of fad gadget or something like that from the golden disco era. So here's a track off their album as a little teaser for you to buy the full length LP and the promised remix for Kelis. I'm a fan now thanks to Daniel at Record Makers.

Since yesterday the new single "Fields" of Chicago's upcoming singer/songwriter Via Tania is in stores. After playing some SXSW dates and a sold out US tour with Icelandic outfit Seabear, she's up for some more. Regarding the press sheet: "Via Tania has become known for her glassy vocal lines that float over cascading flourishes of organic instrumentation, inciting an overwhelming sense of movement, propulsion and dislocation. Forging a truly unique sonic space between a modern day Billie Holiday and lateral musical storyteller Suzanne Vega, with a sound that has been likened to artists like CocoRosie, Bjork and Bat for Lashes, "Fields" hints at new frontiers for Tania."

First up there's an impressive dubstep interpretation by San Fran's Lemonade. I think Ben Alex Callan did a very good job in this remix, since this track is running in heavy rotation in my walkman.
