What features would create the ideal shopping experience?

They would stock items from every category imaginable, apparel and groceries and movie downloads and plumbing fixtures and more. The selection in every category would be massive, stocking items from many stores so that anyone could have just about anything they want. Of course it would be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Perhaps it would include additional features to build excitement, such as sales customized to suit each guest's tastes, as well as gift registry and sweepstakes. And of course, it would have branches everywhere so that anyone could conveniently shop there.

But, such a store would be too massive. It would be too difficult to find anything in such a giant. Unless... that store was online. That store is Amazon, and aptly named. They sold 6.7 billion in merchandise in 4th quarter 2008 alone*, and even during a down economy, Amazon products are selling even more - Amazon shopping was up 18% in fourth quarter*. It's the 102nd most visited website in America** and for good reason: it has something for everyone. Amazon shopping has made it the largest e-tailer in the United States, surpassing its top competitor by almost 3:1.

The term 'store' is misleading; the exact reason Amazon shopping offers so much inventory with so much variety is that it's essentially a massive online mall. They've even added their own name to their list of stores, and in fact sometimes release Amazon products as exclusives. An example of this is the "Kindle", a product that resembles a book but is lighter, downloads books/magazines/newspaper via wi-fi, and stores over 1,500 books at a time. Like so many other people, I am very interested in things like making more money and having fun doing it, losing some weight, improving my skills in given hobbies and sports. So the first thing I do is look at an ebook's title. If that title looks promising, I'll look forward to ordering and finding the answer. Ideally, the ebook's author will provide a different answer or approach in addressing the issue at hand, rather than the same-old, same-old.

And there-in lies the key. To make an ebook sell faster, avoid including the same old stuff, such as exercising in order to lose weight. As a reader, I already KNOW that! I need some kind of reward for reading the ebook, some kind of motivation --- so give it to me. What I want to know is something like, what exercises can I do that will help me lose weight faster? Have you, the author, tried them? What kind of results did you get? What lessons can you share with me from your experiences? THAT's what I want to know. And not only will I buy that ebook, but I will look forward to future ebooks on that subject. The same is true for other topics as well.

In other words, let me know what's in it for me (for reading your ebook). Will I benefit from a different, but practical way of doing things? And what is your interest and involvement (experience, expertise) in the matter?
