Last weekend we went to Sydneys South Head. The North head is at Manly and the south head is at Watson Bay. ALthough both the sites are basically of same nature but they were different from each other. North head was greener and south head bit rocky.

Facebook : 100 billion and counting

So finally Facebook is public and the founder Mark Zuckerberg has a share of it worth more than $20 billion. On morning sunrise ( read news on channel 7 in Australia) I watched his first intervie, and now I am more impressed with Mark. Mark doesnt't need to prove that when passion connects with profession people outshine and outperform, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have already shown this to the world.

Google may not admit this, but it is open secret that they launched Google + to replace Facebook, but looks like Facebook came out stronger than that competition. PRobably, Google will defend itself saying, they wanted to replae Orkut with something better.

But, passion is different and making money with that is different and I personally think Mark Zukerberg will face more challenges to make money out of his more public business model. Have you guys ever noticed one fact that Facebook is different than Apple or MicroSoft. Apple and Microsoft, you can call them product company, they established their brand value, they brought out products which people loved and we paid premium amount to buy those products. As yo still have Linux and Samsung as cheaper alternatives of those brand products. But Facebook is a service, a focused service though, it is like a newspaper but restricted to your frendlist activity.

So, it is a service and the millions of userbase Facebook is having they are habituated using this service as free, and if Facebook wants to apply a charge to keep your account, then I really doubt the business model will be able to dominate the world of social network where major source of revenue is advertise and games till date. And I do not want to ignore the fact that major chunk of facebook users are from India and US, US user may pay a fee and Indian users love to get their services free of cost.

So, to push the share price Facebook got to geenrate more revenue and to generate more revenue they got to use people around the globe with access to internet and they have to grab the advertisers by selling adspace on the page.

With increasing use of tablets and smart phones people mostly access Facebook from these handheld devices,but Facebook has yet to discover a way to monetize this, currently there is no option avaible with Facebook to monetize from smart phone devices.

Recently I read a news which said GM in US withdrawn their Ad from Facebook, as their $10 million investment failed to turn their investment into sales. Well, if you ask me, I consiously never click on the ads shown on Facebook because most of the time I find them irrelavant. From my experience what I have seen, they show you ads of muscle building products if you are working out, but, take my case, I live in India and do not own any dream to build muscles like Arnold so I never take these muscle building protiens and worst part about the ad is probably the produc is for US.

So, few points to analyse, first, Facebook really needs to understand what a person may look or, like everyone love free or discounted stuffs, the things being hsown on ad should be avaialble to me and it should be somthing I am interested on.

i am sure, majority of the Facebook users cannot buy a Ferrari and if Ferrari shows ad on Facebook they may expect brand awareness but I doubt that the will see any sales boost. So, it is more like war between Google Adsense Facebook now and not between Facebook and Google Plus. I hope I have explined enough, now I want to know your point of view

North Head - hope you don't miss it

I came to know about North Head from a web site, which said that this is one of the top 10 things to do in Sydney - so, I decided to visit North Head, which is a straight bus journey from Manly.

You get down from Manly Ferry, come out, and on your right you have a information centre which will guide you about the bus timings and locations with a free and detailed map.

I started this article with the flags where you can see the word Manly, so it tells you that you need to go to Manly to go North head. You can ignore the water dragons if you do not like them, they are in danger species anyway, it was lucky catch.

I would consider myself to be bit unlucky as it was a gloomy day, but guys it's worth it, first you get the circular Quay to Manly ferry and then North Head, it is simply awesome, far better than Blue Mountains.

So, go there and check how the CBD looks from the edge of the cliff, and just look down to see the green sea.

Buy a train ticket from Central to Katoomba
In Katoomba, there are different travel agencies who takes you around blue mountains or you can buy blue mountain explorer bus pass which comes for $40 ( approx) to go around, and it is a guided tour too.
