It’s becoming a regular occurrence that the servers have once again crashed under the strain of hordes of would-be buyers eager to run their credit card debt up even farther.

If these internet marketing gurus are so far ahead of the game why can’t they get their product launches right? I know it’s probably easier said than done but the so-called experts should have learned a thing or two by now, surely?

To be honest the promo emails are starting to wear a little thin just lately as well. For many, the initial excitement and novelty of internet marketing has worn off and they are getting a little bored with all the hyped-up emails flooding into their inbox, including me.

Now you can find your keywords.

There’s no getting away from the fact that the right keywords are essential for a profitable pay per click campaign but too many can become unmanageable. While some people have many thousands of keywords, a smaller keyword list is much easier to handle.

You can use Wordtracker’s free keyword tool to get a few keyword suggestions for your chosen market and use these to start off your PPC campaign.

One reason to use Wordtracker’s free keyword tool is that it only returns the top 100 based on your root keyword. Any more than that and you might be overwhelmed with too many keywords.

Something you should note about Wordtracker is that the search counts are not very accurate and are probably something like one eighth of the Google search count. The true search count will only become apparent to you when you test your keywords in a real Google Adwords campaign. It’s not the volume of searches for each keyword that matters so much as how well it converts into sales.

Let’s take the paid surveys niche as an example. By focusing on the obvious phrases like ‘paid survey’ or ‘paid surveys’ you are going to find that 80 – 90% of the sales, traffic and searches are going to come from keywords like that in these smaller markets – the obvious phrases that people search for.

To get started just enter a few of your root keywords such as ‘paid survey’, ‘paid surveys’, ‘online surveys’ ‘get paid to take surveys’ etc. and enter them onto the free Wordtracker Keyword tool. Once you have your lists of keywords copy and paste them into Notepad.

Now organize your keywords.

You need to enter your keyword list into Good Keywords v3 to clean it up and get rid of any duplicate keywords.

Here’s how…

(1)  Have your keyword list open and ready in Notepad.

(2)  Run the Good Keywords v3 software.

(3)  Select the ‘Keyword Manager’ tab.

(4)  Select Add on the Input List section.

(5) Paste your list from Notepad into the ‘Add Keywords’ box that appears.

(6)  Click on Duplicate on the ‘Remove Unwanted’ section to remove duplicates.

7)  Next, go to the ‘Output’ section and select Copy to Clipboard.

(8)  Paste these keywords back into Notepad

(9)  Divide them into groups ready to put them onto Adwords.

Right, you now have a tidy list of keywords but how do you know if they are any good for PPC?

I suppose you could simply start a new PPC campaign to test them out but it might cost you a bit before you know if they are any good. However, there is a much better way to find out which keywords will convert…by spying on your competition!

Discovering your competitors’ keywords is one way that you can manually compile a good list of keywords for your pay per click campaign. After all, they have done all the keyword research and are already making money from it.  You may think that doing this is a little unethical but I can assure you that others will do it to you given a chance.

There is software available that will show you what keywords other people use in their pay per click campaigns, which is a sure way of gathering relevant keywords for your Adwords campaign. Some of it is quite expensive though.

Of course, you can spy on your competitors’  manually if you knew where to start, but it is time-consuming and tedious to say the least, so why not make it easier on yourself?

The very first product I ever sold online from my very first website was one of Marks and it wasn’t in the internet marketing niche. You could say he got me started on all this.

Of course, free search engine traffic would be much better but the review site structure has to be done in the right way to bring in visitors. Of course, this means adding good content in the form of relevant articles so that it is not seen as a thin affiliate site by the search engines.

You probably know that most of these give out fake reviews and the trouble is many people are catching on to these kinds of sites. They don’t have any visitor value and the bounce rate is high. Let’s face it; some of them look like they were created in the internet equivalent of the Stone Age.

You can’t blame people for not trusting them if they look so phony. Nowadays a review site really needs something more than just a single page to convince visitors that you are an authority on the subject. You need one that will get them to check out your recommendations and then buy something through your affiliate link.

What this all means is you need a review site template that is specifically designed to bring in the search engine spiders and, more importantly, impress your visitors when they get there.

If you have ever read Jeremy Palmer’s Black Ink Project you will know why the right site structure is so important. He nearly got his review sites banned by Google so he had to completely change how they were made. The Black Ink Project is his story of how he builds an affiliate site from the ground up.

In Black Ink 2.0, you get to follow Jeremy’s progress as he puts together a mini review site, from building wire frames for the site, to outsourcing the graphical design and all the backend code to run the thing. The cost of all this was about $1000. It also took more than six weeks to implement.

The videos show you exactly how Jeremy designs a site from scratch and I had some fun making my own version, which was a pretty accurate clone of his when done. It’s somewhere on my hard drive right now if I can find it.

I was thinking about getting some review site templates designed for me but the cost and the hassle of dealing with outsource workers put me off.

Luckily, one of the Black Ink 2.0 followers decided that it would be handy to have a piece of software that could create an optimized mini review site just like Jeremy’s. A lot easier than having to jump through all the hoops of making your own from scratch. And way cheaper than outsourcing.

Seriously, this software practically does all the work of building a review site for you. Review pages, articles, and an automatic product comparison page. And every page appears to be completely SEO optimized. It even has a list-building form and a search engine built in!

Another great thing is that you can add a Wordpress blog that matches your review site perfectly. I don’t need to tell you how important this is for SEO purposes.

Ok, I still had to write some product reviews for my chosen niche, but that was pretty much the hardest part of it. And I did it all in less than 48 hours, which is a great time saving. You could even outsource this part if you want.

As someone who has gone through The Black Ink Project videos – there’s a lot to learn before you can turn a profit. Cutting down on expenses by automating the building of review sites is a huge advantage to affiliates, especially if you are just starting out and are short of cash.

But having the right software is not the only thing you need to make a success of your review site.

It’s vital to avoid the mistakes that will cause your review site to fail before you even realize that you have a problem. I would go so far as to say this about the book.

You shouldn’t even think about making your first review site without it. And with the software as a bonus, you could have your review site up in a couple of days. Then you can repeat the process in another niche, eventually bringing in multiple income streams on virtual autopilot.

Why is this so important? Because with your own affiliate program, you will get other people to do most of your promoting for you. With affiliate partners on board you will multiply all your sales efforts with the result that everyone benefits.

You get vastly increased sales and your affiliate partners make money too. You might think that paying affiliates a percentage of each sale will mean you making less profit but the opposite is actually true. Should you let anyone join your affiliate program?

You might be asking if it matters who you let into your affiliate program.

You have your reputation to protect after all.

Don’t be afraid to reject some applicants.

You might not want to let just anyone into your affiliate program. With that said, rejecting an applicant might be easier than doing it. You may feel bad for the applicant but you are running a business not a charity.

If it will make you feel better, offer a brief explanation. If the applicant is on the right track, but not there, provide a few tips. Encourage them to implement these tips and then reapply for the program.

Don’t expect to see results from your affiliates immediately.

If you set about selling a product or a service, you already know that it takes time to get it created and launched. It might have taken you months to write that book, proofread, and edit it. After all that, you then had to design a cover and upload your sales page to the web.

If you are new to all this you probably launched your product before deciding on starting an affiliate program for it.

You will then have realized that just because a product or website is online, it doesn’t mean people will find it. It’s the same with your affiliate program. It may take applicants some time to find out about the affiliate opportunity you are offering. It may take even longer for them to generate sales for you.

It takes a little patience so never give up on an affiliate program before you’ve given it every chance to succeed If after that point, you are still losing money, it’s time to call it quits on that particular project.

Make it easy for them to promote your product by providing them with good sales materials, and reward those who do especially well as an incentive to do even better.

Always be available or hire an affiliate manager to take questions, complaints, and suggestions. A happy affiliate will do the most for your company and your bottom line will improve accordingly.
