Amber & Damon had a fantastic wedding celebration at Barton Creek Resort & Spa.  As you can see beauty, laughter and joy were abundant.  Thanks go out to coordinator Keri Wootton of  Leave The Details 2 Me and the team at Barton Creek team for running a great event.  Thanks also go out to Kyle Woods of Skyking Photography for second shooting the event as well as the families of the bride and groom for giving us the opportunity to document this day.

Easily our “danciest” wedding of the year as you will soon see!  Blair & Denver had a day filled with laughter, dancing, and joy at The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort…

So I have the privilege of photographing some of EARTH’S FUNNIEST PEOPLE  this week during the 1st annual Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival presented by Austin’s illustrious Paramount Theater…comedy abounds in Austin this week!

Day one at the Paramount featured Aziz Ansari with opener Chelsea Peretti, I’m not going to rant on these posts too much…but know that both of these acts were outstanding!

So I haven’t posted an engagement session to the blog in awhile, but this one was really cool!  We did the entire thing on the right near our home in East Austin…lots of cool textures and backdrops in our little hood…but the maybe the coolest prop a client has ever brought to a shoot are the Shiner bottles that were custom made with the couples last name!  How cool is that?!

Lindsay & Jeff, great job yesterday.  And thanks as always to Kyle Woods of Skyking Photography for assisting on the shoot!

I’ve photographed many acts at the illustrious Paramount Theater over the years, Martin Short’s One Man Show ranks among the best I’ve seen.  ”I must say” these images capture only the opening minutes of the show…the capacity crowd eventually met in-person Ed Grimley, Jackie Rogers Jr., Jiminy Glick, Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and many others (most of them in full costume!).  The Emmy & Tony award winning Mr. Short seemed suspended in time…at age 61 he was all over the stage…effortlessly hopping from the floor to the piano bench to the top of the piano multiple times.  He engaged directly with the audience bringing several members onstage to participate in the show…people were howling and I was happy to be among them.

Thanks to the Paramount once again for another great experience!

Among the many SXSW 2012 events at the Paramount Theater this week was a pre-screening of an upcoming documentary on the memphis pop band Big Star titled “Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me“.  Prior to the event was an all star concert dedication to the band which I was fortunate enough to photograph…it was amazing.

The guest list was impressive and included Jody Stephens of Big Star on drums; Austin’s Tosca String Quartet; Peter Case on vocals; Mitch Easter of Let’s Active and Chris Stamey on guitars; and for this performance, guest guitarists Peter Buck of R.E.M. Tommy Stinson of the Replacements and Guns & Roses, and Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow of The Posies among others. Austin’s GSD&M was the show’s executive producer in conjunction with SXSW and High Road Touring.
