Hewlett Packard’s LaserJet 3030 All-in-One laser printer is a wonderful choice for small businesses. If printing isn’t enough for you, the HP 3030 also offers quality scanning, faxing and photocopying. The model is one of HP’s smallest full-featured models, offering great functionality for smaller companies.
First Impressions: For what it offers, the HP 3030 is deceptively small. Although the flatbed scanner and copier means a larger footprint than comparable single-function printers, remember this device will also replace your fax machine and a small photocopier – and the diminutive 15-inch height means it will sit unobtrusively in any small office.
Aside from the size, the design is standard HP – two-tone business grey, with a softened box shape. A control panel runs along the front of the scanner/copy bed, allowing access to various functions, even without a computer. Out of the box, setup only takes a few minutes, although it’s worth spending a few extra minutes to download the newest drivers from HP’s website. As usual you will need a USB or parallel port cable to connect it to your computer.
Features: Typical of HP’s entry level printers, the LaserJet 3030 offers exceptional functionality. For printing, the HP 3030 is comparable to other entry-level lasers, with crisp text and reasonable quality graphical prints. Of course, printing is only monochrome, but this means you won’t have to replace expensive colour cartridges.
Printing speed ranges from 10-15ppm depending on the task, which is fully adequate for small office use. Scanning is simple and easy from either the LCD display or your computer. A multifunction device is a small sacrifice in quality, but it’s much cheaper than a dedicated scanner. However, in spite of monochrome printing, the 3030 offers colour scanning, producing good quality images. Unfortunately, the scanner lid does not lift off, meaning books and bulky documents may be a problem, but otherwise it handles photos and text with ease.
The photocopy function is accessible through the control panel, with a variety of options, and the fax function includes an onboard phonebook. Network capability is optional, with the choices of Ethernet, wireless, or Bluetooth. Although this machine won’t handle heavy print loads, the feed tray has a 150-page limit that should be sufficient for most small offices.
Final Assessment: Overall, the HP 3030 is a great multi-function printer for offices and business that require an alternative solution to the otherwise costly single-service machines. This all-in-one offers an easy and economical solution, allowing maximum versatility for a reasonable cost. Of course, it comes with HP’s standard 1-year warranty as well as extension plans for businesses. Whether you’re starting up a home or small business, or streamlining a cluttered office, the HP 3030 is a great choice.
Also, if you have an HP LaserJet 3030 then you should consider Digitech’s service plans which ensure you’ll never have to worry about maintenance or toner ever again. ]]>Thanks to our sustainability-based practices, Digitech is one of only eight companies to be chosen – meaning that the University of British Columbia will promote our cartridges and printer services to everybody on campus so they can order with confidence, knowing that the environment is our priority.
Here is how Digitech has met and surpassed UBC’s four basic principles of sustainability for supply management:
Leadership: Digitech and UBC are committed to being at the cutting edge of “green” thinking in business. This includes taking every advantage of new and better technologies and practices, evaluating and applying practices for long-term value, and teaming up with other organizations and businesses as they move toward sustainability.
Social Inclusivity: Sustainability is built around being responsible to the global – protecting our shared resources and heritage. It’s no longer adequate to simply focus on short-term, local goals. We are committed to this communal focus in our business and organizational practices, especially in working with other businesses and organizations with similar commitments to sustainability.
Environmental Stewardship: For Digitech, this is a shaping influence on every remanufactured printer cartridge we create. However, it extends to all aspects, not simply our product. One example is our hybrid delivery vehicle. Our goal is to always make sure that our total environmental impact remains as small as possible. In the same way, UBC’s stewardship includes sustainable choices for campus events, trips and document handling, as well as purchasing.
Accountability: UBC demands that we focus on sustainability at all levels of our organization. This aligns perfectly with our business goals. Our ISO certifications demonstrate our commitment by allowing our business practices to be overseen by an independent certifying authority. It is important that you see our goals and ideals in action. Sustainability isn’t propaganda, it’s a life-altering philosophy and strategy for change and we believe it is even more powerful when the change can be verified by outside observers. We remain accountable to UBC and all our clients, as well as to the world at large.
Since beginning its drive toward sustainability, UBC has become a leader among North American universities. It has achieved the Kyoto standards ahead of schedule and continues to move forward. One office on campus has even managed to become paperless, with very positive results.
As Digitech continues to grow, we are excited to help more businesses around British Columbia – particularly in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and Kelowna – reduce their environmental footprint and make a positive difference in the world.
It’s exciting to work with forward-thinking organizations and promote environmental practices. If your company has already outlined a strategy for sustainability, or if you’re thinking about changing your practices, we encourage you to contact us today.
Digitech supplies remanufactured toner cartridges to businesses like yours in Kelowna, Vancouver, and beyond. We’d love to serve you!

Hewlett Packard’s LaserJet P2015 is an affordable solution for your home or small office printing needs. As one of the more basic LaserJet printers on the market, the P2015 is a quiet machine that offers high quality results.
First Impressions: The P2015 looks like HPs other contemporary printers with its square shape and two-tone charcoal-light grey colour scheme. However, it is a bit smaller than most, with a footprint of roughly 14 by 14 inches and only 10 inches tall.
The control panel for the LaserJet P2015 is very basic with only two buttons — go and cancel — and a few LED indicators. Configuration is handled through your computer, but this doesn’t mean it lacks onboard features. Setup is a snap for XP and while Vista users will have to visit the company’s website to download updated drivers, you won’t need any special expertise to install them. As usual, remember to pick up a USB printer cable to connect it to your computer.
Features: For such a small monochrome laser, the P2015 certainly holds its own. Of course, with a maximum monthly load of 15,000 pages, this printer won’t handle extensive office use, but it would be great for your desk or home office. Print speed is a speedy 25 ppm (pages-per-minute) with very sharp quality. Graphics are a little slower, but happily are without the white horizontal bands commonly seen in low-end lasers. The printing colour is nice and dark, almost reaching a true black that is rarely seen in such an affordable printer. However, if you plan to print high-res graphics at maximum print quality, you will want to upgrade the RAM (288MB max), but otherwise the 32MB onboard should handle any job.
The paper tray holds 250 sheets of either legal- or letter-sized paper, while the front-load tray adds another fifty, with print-through capabilities for envelopes or card stock. Options include duplexing, networking and an extra paper tray.
Variations:
P2015d - adds duplexing
P2015dn - adds duplexing and networking capabilities
P2015x - adds duplexing, networking and an extra 250-sheet paper tray
Final Assessment: While it won’t win any races, the HP P2015 is a handy little printer for your home office. Its footprint means it will easily fit in the place of your inkjet, while offering the higher quality of a laser printer. And it will certainly be quieter.
HPs standard one-year warranty should be more than adequate. The initial cost might be prohibitive, but remember you’re getting a laser, not an inkjet. Furthermore, with remanufactured toner cartridges, you’ll save a lot in the long run. Contact Digitech Laser for more information about service plans and replacement cartridges, especially if you live in the Okanagan or Greater Vancouver Regional District.
]]>First Impressions: Although the HP LaserJet 4000 isn’t as stylish as some new printers, it certainly makes up for that under the hood. It comes in a simple light beige colour scheme and is unremarkably boxy in shape. Depending upon the feature-set you choose, it sits atop one or two paper trays for a grand total of 500 sheets. An additional feed tray opens neatly on the front of the printer for envelopes, cardstock, labels or other custom print jobs. Prints come out on top, next to a small, easy-to-use control panel. Three buttons and a small LCD display allow you to access various menu options, including paper-handling, resolution and network settings. The printer connects easily to a variety of systems, using either parallel or serial cables, or the optional network card.
Features: The HP LaserJet 4000 boasts a 1200-dpi maximum resolution, but even the 600-dpi mode looks great with HP’s onboard Resolution Enhancement Technology. The printer’s 17ppm maximum print speed isn’t super fast, but it will certainly get the job done. The standard 500-sheet load, in addition to a 100-sheet auxiliary tray means this printer will run a long time between refills. If that’s not enough, you can add an extra 500-sheet tray. The trays will handle legal as well as letter-sized paper with ease. Further options are available with different feature-sets.
Variations:
4000T – exchanges the single 500-sheet tray for two 250-sheet trays
4000N – adds an HP Jetdirect printer server card
4000TN – includes both feature-sets
Other aftermarket options include an extra 500-sheet tray, a 75-envelope power feeder, and a duplex accessory. The RAM can also be expanded up to 100MB.
Final Assessment: The HP 4000 is a great low-maintenance printer for busy offices. Its expansion capabilities mean it can be easily adapted to your specific needs. Of course, it includes HP’s 1-yr standard warranty.
Replacement Cartridges: If your business wants to save a lot of money on its printing, you can purchase remanufactured printer cartridges instead of OEMs for a fraction of the cost. Tired of unrealiability? Go with the good guys, Digitech Laser offers the highest quality replacement printer cartridges in Kelowna (and the rest of the Okanagan) and Vancouver (as well as the Lower Mainland), so contact us today and save big!
]]>First Impressions: The HP LaserJet 1320 is a great looking little printer. A slightly higher contrast in its standard two-tone color scheme and very clean lines make this printer stand out aesthetically. The controls on top are easy to access, it is very simple to set up (although you’ll need a USB printer cable), and its small size means you can fit it comfortably on your desk for convenience. Of course, looks are nothing if a printer can’t deliver - but thankfully the 1320 certainly carries through on its promise.
Although it only offers black and white printing, it has an extremely high resolution so you enjoy crisp quality every time.
Features: Built-in duplexing is the shining point of the 1320. Although this seems to have taken space away from the paper tray (a meager 250-sheets), you can purchase an addition 250-sheet tray if you need it. Surprisingly, the duplexer is quiet and almost invisibly integrated, in contrast with the bulkier design of some comparable duplexing models. The HP LaserJet 1320 features very sharp text and graphic printing, at up to 22ppm, although larger graphics often slow it down signficantly.
With a 1200×1200 max resolution, this printer turns out great looking grey-scale pictures. One other step forward for this printer is the optional wireless network card, meaning you can potentially forego hardwiring this machine and put it anywhere you like. The base model includes both USB and parallel ports for connection to almost any computer.
Variations:
HP LaserJet 1320t – includes an additional 250-sheet paper tray, as well as extended onboard font support.
HP LaserJet 1320n – includes an HP JetDirect network card.
HP LaserJet 1320nw – includes an 802.11b/g Wireless network card, as well as standard Ethernet support.
HP LaserJet 1320tn – includes the extra paper tray and the network card.
Because of the different feature sets available, there are few accessories for this printer. However, the RAM can be upgraded to 144MB for larger print jobs.
Recommended Compatible Printer Cartridge: The HP 49A (low yield, up to 2500 pages) and HP 49X (high yield, up to 6000 pages) are the ideal fit for this printer. However, instead of buying a new cartridge from HP or an outlet store every time, you can save time and money by turning to Digitech Laser.
Digitech produces the highest quality remanufactured printer cartridges in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, Kelowna, and the Okanagan. If your business has an HP LaserJet 1320 or another mainstream office printer, we can help!
Final Assessment: With its small size, duplexing and high-quality print performance, the HP 1320 is a great model for your business. The wireless option adds extra flexibility for printer placement. Of course it includes the standard one-year HP warranty.
Overall, the HP LaserJet 1320 is good choice for your business, offering high quality in a small package. Remember, if you’re in Vancouver or Kelowna, Digitech can help you make the most of your investment with services plans and quality remanufactured printer cartridges.

The LaserJet 1020 is Hewlett Packard’s noteworthy entry into the personal laser printer market. Increasingly, printer manufacturers are offering budget-priced, low-output laser printers as an alternative to the inkjets that have dominated the home printer market for over a decade. Of course, HP brings their usual high level of quality to this niche. In spite of being one of the cheapest laser printers available, the LaserJet 1020 is robust and reliable.
First Impressions: The HP 1020 looks similar to most home printers, with clean lines and light grey colouring. The rounded rectangular design is little more friendly than boxy business printers. However, what really stands out is the printer’s small size. With a base of only 353 square centimeters (139 inches) it will even fit comfortably on a book shelf; the forward facing feed and print trays allow you to put it right against a wall. Setup is quick and easy, although, as usual, you will need to purchase a USB printer cable.
Features: The HP LaserJet 1020 is a pretty basic printer, but offers good versatility nonetheless. The feed tray–which folds up out of the way when empty–holds 150 sheets of paper in standard sizes. Above this is a single-sheet priority feed tray which will accommodate envelopes, card, labels and other media for special print jobs without the trouble of emptying the primary feed tray. Software drivers delegate most of the print processing to your computer, saving money on memory and processing power. However, print speed maintains a comparable average of 13 ppm. As well, the drivers allow for manual duplexing.
The recommended monthly load is 250-2000 sheets, with a maximum of 5000. This range makes it ideal for students or occasional home users, although it would be adequate for some small businesses, as well. For a budget printer, the print quality is good, with sharp and clear text; just don’t expect the same perfection as a high-end professional business model.
Final Assessment: For a home user, this is a great choice, with higher quality and lower cost-per-page than most inkjets. Nonetheless, if you are a business requiring a high-use professional printer, you will want to pay the higher cost for a printer better suited to your needs. It performs reliably and consistently, and with an initial cost on par with mid-range inkjet printers, it’s a great deal. Also, it comes with a standard 1-year warranty.
The HP LaserJet 1020 ships with a full toner cartridge which will last for 5000 prints (about 3.5 cents per page). When you need a replacement, new toner cartridges can be pricey, but if you live in Vancouver or Kelowna, you can always purchased quality remanufactured cartridges from Digitech. Hewlitt Packard’s LaserJet P3005 printer is an efficient and economical printer that is a great fit for small to mid sized businesses. HP has a 25-year record of delivering quality printers and this model is no different - offering maximum performance for a great price.
Before we get into the review, here is a brief overview of the specifications:

Resolution: HP FastRes 1200
Toner Cartridges: 1 (black) - 51A or 51X
Print Speed: Up to 35 pages per minute with the first page out in under 10 seconds.
Monthly Duty Cycle: Up to 100,000 pages
Recommended Monthly Print Volume: 1500 to 5000 pages
Paper Trays: 2-3
Input Capacity: 600 sheets (standard) to 1100 sheets (maximum)
Paper Sizes: Letter, Legal, Executive, 8.5 x 13 in, and envelopes - plus a custom multipurpose tray for anything between 3 x 5 to 8.5 x 14 in.
Memory: 48 MB (standard) to 320 MB (maximum)
Processor Speed: 400 MHz
First Impressions: Out of the box, the P3005 is a simple, square, two-tone grey design. It looks functional and professional and blends nicely into an office environment. Although it may be a little large for some home offices (16.7 x 16.1 x 12.2 inches), it is smaller than many business printers. Setup is quick and easy, although you will need a USB printer cable or network cable, depending on the method of connection you choose (this is a standard requirement for most printers available today). The accompanying documentation helps you set it up within a few minutes.
Features: A monochrome printer is created with simplicity in mind and the P3005 is no exception. It offers a comparable selection, without any extraneous bells and whistles. It ships with a standard 500-sheet letter-sized paper tray, more than adequate for most jobs; however, the tray will also accommodate legal sheet via an ingenious flap that opens out the back of the printer. In addition to this primary feed, a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray on the front allows you to feed envelopes, labels, transparencies or even just colour paper through without having to reload the primary tray.
The print speed is faster than most comparable printers, pushing 33ppm at maximum. For optimal performance, HP suggests an average monthly load of 1500-5000 pages (with a maximum load of 100,000 pages). The quality is good for a printer in this price range, with clear, sharp printing for font sizes down to 3 points.
Variations: Although the standard model should be great for most purposes, HP offers a few useful options.
P3500D – includes automatic duplexing, a handy feature for reducing paper usage and certain print jobs.
P3500N – includes an HP Jetdirect fast Ethernet integrated print server for easy setup on a network, as well as extra ram.
P3500X – the luxury model; includes duplexing and network capabilities, extra ram, and an extra 500-sheet paper tray.
Beyond the 80MB of ram in the network models (48MB standard), all models are upgradeable to a maximum of 300MB for especially large and complex print jobs.
Final Assessment: The HP LaserJet P3005 is a great monochrome printer, offering a great set of features and options for a reasonable price. HP’s reputation and 1-yr warrant ensures you’ll be getting a dependable printer. Although some printers are initially cheaper, the P3005 shines with an especially low cost-per-page of 1.65-1.9 cents, depending on whether or not you use a high capacity toner cartridge. Of course, this cost can by as much as half, by using remanufactured cartridges available from Digitech. Overall, this printer is a great choice for low- to mid-use environments such as small businesses, schools, or even home offices. In a pinch it could be a great option for even some larger organizations.
