I do! I’ve been playing at photofunia.com (see photos below). I forgot how much fun it is! How cool it is see your own photos in a different way than you would ever imagine in a hundred years. And the photofunia site is so easy to use. Upload a photo – click a button & it does the magic. Then, choose to save or share. (no affiliation – just a fan) It’s a great way to spice up your blogs, etc.

I’ve been reading a few places around blog land that scrapbooking isn’t fun, it’s work. Of course it is, but if you’re not having fun doing something, don’t do it. Simple. Find an alternative.

If you don’t like traditional paper scrapping with all the materials and supplies needed, try digital scrapping. If that’s still not fun, maybe just organizing your photos will fit your needs and be a happy solution. It’s ok. It’s up to you.

Find something that you enjoy and never mind the pressure from others to do it their way. Don’t feel guilty. Preserve your memories however you choose. It’s your life. Enjoy it.

Your kids & family need you to be happy!

“Today” Journal Scrap

Word art & journaling go hand in hand. Use word art as a title on your page layout or let it take the place of journaling … and vice versa. Journaling, of course, adds a description of an event in words that only you can give. It adds a touch of you to your work.

A good way to plan your journaling includes:

1. Who
2. What
3. Where
4. When
5. Events that took place - the story or account of the experience.
6. Special memories or happenings of the day

Try to record the occasion as soon as possible - jot it down somewhere if you can't make your scrap page right away. You’d be surprised how soon the details are forgotten!

First, thank you everyone for condolences sent. This has been a difficult time for me. As hard as it is to get back in the flow, I look forward … with hope & appreciation for my life. I didn’t create while I was away but my mind was on new & exciting directions to go with my work. I’ll share more about it next week … there’s so much work to do. This is a duplicate post. In my testing, I discovered that my PNG images are not picked up by the freebie search engine … oh no!! I need that to get my work out there to the most peeps, so here’s plan two;

I'll make a preview with direct .png download on click (from my own webhost) - just right click & save the image that pops up.

I am trying to avoid files, zips, and using 4shared (really annoyed with them). My new plan will be better for you & for me. I’ll figure out a way … hope this works out :)

Digital Ideas - Scrapbooking Your Child's Artwork

The beautiful drawing, paintings and other works of art are such a special part of the preschool and school years. At times there is such an abundance of huge paint covered papers, it is difficult to remember that eventually, our children will stop producing mini-masterpieces. You probably have a few favourites, and here I will give you two ideas for including them in digital scrapbooks and photobooks.

Photograph it: I know it seems obvious. But i don' t mean simply putting it on the table and taking a flash flooded snap. Do it properly. Go outside for some natural light. Lay the paper down on the ground, and then carefully stand on a chair above it. Aim your camera down, but check for intruding toes! Try to avoid direct sunlight, as white paper will reflect too much light and over expose your photo. This method is great if you want to extract your photo or turn it into a background image.

If you want to use your photo as, well, a photo, then try to think of interesting ways of presenting it. if your kids have an easel, put it up on that, or add it to the fridge. My favourite way to photograph child artwork is to take a photo of your child holding up their creation. Not only does it create a more personal photo (perfect for sending to grandparents), your child will love having the chance to show off their art work.

Scan it: Most paintings will not fit into a home scanner. In this case, scan the painting or picture in small parts, and then use a stitch programme to put it all together. I use Photoshop for this, but there are free ones available. The benefit of a scan over a photo is that often the colours are more accurate and there is more detail. Also, if your scanner has the setting you can scan the resolution quite high. i always scan at 1200 dots per inch, but 300 is usually fine.

I scan at the highest resolution possible to that I can turn it into a background paper or a photo matte for a scrapbook page. You can blend, erase edges, add texture- be just as creative as your child was in creating it!

Our newlweds are on their way to Thailand for a 2 week honeymoon. Hooray for them!! They originally planned the honeymoon for Japan months before the devastating earthquakes.
