Embedding Phpbb 3.0 in website step by step tutorial

Phpbb 3.0 is a free flat-forum bulletin board software solution that can be used to stay in touch with a group of people or can power your entire website.

To use the phpbb 3.0, you need to install it first, to be part of your website.

Since I will only share how to embed the phpbb in a website, please follow this link for the step by step intallation of the phpbb 3.0.

Assuming that the process of installation is done. I will now teach you how to embed the phpbb in your own site.

Step 1

Go to this directory inside your website folder.

\phpBB3\styles\prosilver\template

by default the prosilver is the default template of the phpbb3.0

After locating the folder, look for these two file.

overall_header.html
overall_footer.html

This files is use to customize the phpbb3.0 header and footer.

After do the changes, refreshing alone is not enough.

Step 2

Go to your ACP - Account Control Panel

How to go in here? This can be located at the below of the phpbb3.0 index.

After accessing the ACP

Go to style tab,template and to your prosilver theme. the click the refresh link.

Refresh your browser and check the phpbb3.0 and its done. :)

Well, I'm not encouraging everyone to use it, because this is somehow illegal, however, I just wanna show to you how to hack and get a free templates from monster template. So read very carefully the instruction on how to get a free template from monster template.Now lets begin this hacking procedure to download our favorite tempalte designs .

Step 1: Select a particular template from the monster template[dot]com and choose Demo. As you are in demo mode. Close the dashboard above. Right click the page and choose save as page.

Step 2: Use filezilla to browse the directory of the image.

Step 3: Copy the URL of the image and past it to address bar. Erase the image name and press Enter.After doing that, you will be redirected to list of directories, and from there you can now download freely the entire web page, with out paying any cents.

It really took me a couple of hour to figure it out, because I was really confuse in different jquery script posted in the net.Now let me teach an easy way on how to generate a thumbnail image based from the given url. Ooops! my mistake! i wont teach you, instead i will show you the whole code including the java script the will generate YouTube thumbnail image.

Mysql2 installation in ruby on rails window platform error

Many programmer today, are using open source framework like ruby on rails. Ruby is a object oriented programming language. While the rails is a framework.

Now to begin the installation we need the following:

Ruby
Rails
Git
Devkit
Webserver
Mysql and Mysql2 (database)
E txt (text editor)

I choose mysql and mysql2 as my database for ease of use and its free. Now to download the following manually download the link from this link: http://rubyonrails.org/download. Or download the updated package and skip all the head aches and erros, http://www.rubyinside.com/rails-installer-ruby-and-rails-on-windows-in-a-single-install-4201.html

After installing the Ruby on Rails including the Git and the Devkit. We gonna need a database. Follow this link to download mysq version 5.1 http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html.

Now here is the tricky thing. After installing mysql database go to directory folder and copy the libmysql.dll inside the bin folder.

After copying the libmysql.dll of the mysql database, go to the directory folder of Ruby. Inside it go to the bin.

Note:If you choose to download and install the stand alone package. You can locate the ruby folder inside the railsinstaller folder in “c:”.

After the pasting is done. Run the command prompt is window and type the following. “gem install mysql”

To check whether it is successfully installed, type “gem list” to view all the install plugins in gem.

Now we will install the mysql2, other say its quite complicated, however it can be install in one script.

Again, go to command prompt with ruby on rails in window and type the following or just copy paste it, gem install mysql2 -- '--with-mysql-lib="c:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\lib\opt" --with-mysql-include="c:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\include"'

Note: That the following directory is base from my computer directory installation.

After the process, type in the “gem list” to check the mysql2. If exist, were done.

What I have here, is an electronic election system made by php programming language, in short this system is online base. I am thinking if this source code of mine would be helpful to some student who are in the pressure of deadline, or this will only make them lazy person. This project is our SAD or System analysis and Design before, I'm thinking to share it to my blog, which includes the ERD for the election system and all the documentations.
