New Life for Aquinas Catholic Academy

Aquinas Catholic Academy has more than doubled its number of Latino students and, for the first time in decades, enrollment has grown instead of declined. Going into the 2013-14 school year, 67 students from the Hispanic Initiative are registered. "We've experienced such renewal, Sr. Nancy says. "These families have enriched our community. They've given with such a spirit of generosity. From painting parts of the school on the weekends to donating a magnificent statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe that travels from one classroom to classroom, this community has brought new life to us and we are the better for it."

"Hydropulping" and "slurry" aren't words that are part of the average seven-year-old child's vocabulary. Last week, first-graders at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School in Darien learned about hydropulping, slurries and more as they made recycled paper with educators from SCARCE.
By Michele Evans, St. Mary Immaculate School
"You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering."~ Harold Hill
What a wonderful quote and in my opinion is the theme centered around this fabulous production! The Music Man was performed in front of two jam packed audiences on April 13th and April 14th in the gymnasium at St. Mary Immaculate School in Plainfield.
Over $2,100 Raised for Make-A-Wish

By Jeannine Schonta

Students at St. Mary Immaculate Parish School, in Plainfield, raised over $2,100 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, slightly besting last year’s total. Student Council members sponsored the "Jeans for Wishes" event, in which students happily traded their uniforms for the chance to wear blue jeans to school. For a nominal fee, students could buy the jeans option for a single day or a full week.
