Nintendo must have had some great feedback about the Metallic Rose Nintendo DS that came in the Nintendogs bundle, or it just didn’t do well and they have a lot of extras without the paw print. Either way the company is launching metallic rose as another standalone color for the lineup of DS’s, not to be confuse with the standard pink.

Some celebs by the names of America Ferrera and Carrie Underwood are going to also help push the latest DS in some commercials starting May 19. No pricing has been released but we would guess this model would be priced the same as the other standalone DS hardware systems.

Nintendo has had some great success with the DS with sales of over 19.6 million since its launch in November of 2004 and sales of 414,000 in April. They’ve also amassed more than 560 games available for the handheld console.

After much speculation and concern Microsoft has put out official word that the OLPC XO laptop will be made available with the Windows XP operation system. Nicholas Negroponte has been trying to work with Bill Gates and Microsoft for years to get the Windows OS for the laptop, but Microsoft had been reluctant due to the rival Linux OS running on the machine.

The writing was on the wall when Microsoft announced that they were going to keep the XP operating system around a little longer for use with Ultra Low Cost PC’s. Microsoft made a custom version of the OS for use with the XO laptop to work with its hardware. The laptop is expected to start shipping in late summer or early fall with the ability to dual boot with both Linux and Windows XP, letting the owner decide.

Negroponte feels the availability of Windows on the machine will attract more governments and educational institutions to purchase the laptop for children in their countries. The originally marketed $100 laptop will then have a $200 price tag with another $3 tacked on for the XO OS, or another $7 for the dual boot of Windows and Linux.

For some reason it just seems nicer to me when I have some type of cradle, dock or stand to charge my gadgets with instead of just a cord and naturally we were excited to see this charging stand for the Nintendo DS Lite. Sure the docks take up more room on my desk and are difficult to take along when you travel, but with them each items has their own neat and special place.

This stand looks to take up a little less space then it could, holding the DS upright on its side instead of flat. It comes in colors of black or white to match the black and white DS’s, and is expected to be available from PlayAsia sometime yet this month for just under $17 USD.

Want to do your part in keeping the earth green by lowering your power consumption? You can do so without purchasing a Toyota Prius, thanks to the Intellipanel Desktop Computer which offers you the convenience of standby mode without wasting a single iota of electricity.

Plug your PC into the black shaded socket of the 8-way intelligent mains panel and up to seven other peripherals in the remaining sockets. When you turn your PC on or off the built-in auto calibration system automatically sends power to or cuts power to the additional outlets, saving energy and money. Easy! This energy-efficient one click intelligent mains panel even comes fully equipped with a power surge protector, which can wreck an entire system and prove very costly, as well as two sockets with extra space for bulky transformers and points for a modem, telephone and broadband.

Apparently the £29.95 asking price will pay for itself many times over throughout its lifetime, which makes it a pretty good bargain by any means.

If you were hoping to somehow get your hands on that gun metal gray Metal Gear Solid 4 Playstation 3 bundle, here’s your chance. Konami has issued a press release showing that they exclusively will have a 40GB MGS4 PS3 bundle available for North American with the pre-sell starting on May 19th. This is not the same as the 80GB bundle we had talked about last month but a new offering available only from Konami.

The package comes with a Gun Metal Gray, 40GB Playstation 3, a matching wireless dualshock controller, Metal Gear Online, a Blu-ray disc with 2 hours of exclusive additional content and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition game. The bundle is priced at $599.99 and will only go while supplies last so if you want one of these you’ll want to keep on top of this offer. In fact, you can add it to your Wish List on the Konami site now to keep up with the offer.
The latest tiny RC car to be made available is an officially licensed R/C Ferrari replica. The measure just 3 inches long and have working headlights. The best news is that you do not need to get a 25 year mortgage to pay it off as it’s somewhat cheaper then the 6 figure full size beasts.

* Full control with forward and reverse / right and left turns
* Turbo button for increased speed

With all of the various devices that we have plugged in, it can feel a bit overwhelming. Containership powersupplies can help keep your fleet of powerstrips in order like a well oiled Navy.

I guess the general idea here is to hold your power adapters in a cute and clever way, having a bit of fun with some organization. According to the company, it’s neat because the cord is in the Containership’s wake. I’m not sure what they’re smoking, but the whole effect is ruined the minute you put a few adapters in it, making it look like your wires are about to pull the whole thing under…your carpet. File this one under good concept, bad follow-through.

Fine, they won’t really snap your neck, but at least they’ll make your ears tickle, and that’s gotta be good for something. The iFeelU EX2 2.2-channel “Body-Sonic Vibration Ear Wearing System” uses two speakers in each earbud; I’m guessing that the second speaker at the back is actually more of a mass driver, producing vibration rather than sound. According to Gizmodo, who got some eartime with them, “for explosions and other big booms, these things are surprisingly great, with solid feedback and definite in-ear quakage [sic].” They may not be as great for listening to music, although it looks like you can adjust the strength of the vibration separately.

They should be available not too long from now for about $40 a pair; for that amount, it might be fun to pick some up just to see what they can do.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this year, Portable Sound Laboratories unveiled the iMainGo 2, an upgrade to the iMainGo. The iMainGo is a speaker system designed with the iPod in mind, but can accommodate other MP3 Players.

In fact, the iMainGo 2 has a new feature to help fit all kinds of MP3 Players. This custom fit technology, also known as iMainGo Foam, is a spongey thing that allows whatever brand of MP3 player, be it the Zune, Zen Stone, or anything else, to be securely housed.

Another new feature of the iMainGo 2 is the upgraded high quality, premium titanium speakers which give unusually high-quality sound for something its size.

The original iMainGo made quite a mark on the marketplace. It was highly acclaimed as “best iPod accessory” to hit the market by leading tech people, and was featured on several shows including CNN, CNET, MTV, VH1, Entertainment Tonight, and The Tonight Show. It received a perfect 5-star review by MacWorld, and even The Rachel Ray Show has called it “just possibly the greatest thing ever” to be reviewed on her show.

When last I heard, the iMainGo 2 was due out by April 1st, but I have not seen it on the iMainGo website as yet. I believe that the price of the iMainGo 2 will be the same as the original, at $39.99.
