The figure of the Voluptuous, or Curvy Domme, challenges the prevailing Western standard of the “androgynous waif” that has been the look of fashion and adult entertainment since the mid-20th century. But what the mainstream media portrays rarely encompasses everything, particularly when looking at the BDSM community.

Things have improved in the last decade, but the kink, fetish, and BDSM community is still misunderstood… characterized for humor, or for titillation, or to demonize, and almost never framed by an insider or someone who understands and appreciates the people or the truth. And there’s so much misinformation and ignorance out there, even among the community itself. The Voluptuous Domme deserves a fair hearing.

This article is meant to open a discussion on the topic of the Voluptuous Domme and hopefully give a better overall understanding, celebrate them for their power and passion, and also introduce the direct words from real-life Voluptuous Dommes who know better than anyone else what their experiences are like, how clients feel about them, and how they are viewed in the BDSM community itself.

The Perception of Women of Power and Substance Throughout History

The “Amazon” archetype from the ancient world is certainly relevant to the study of large dominatrices today. While not always “plus-size” they were known for being physically commanding and capable of overwhelming men. This ancient form of domination also carries over into “Giantess” fetish, superheroes, and much more today. Famous Amazon character, Wonder Woman, has a storied connection to the fetish and BDSM community directly from her creator William Moulton Marston, who was inspired by the feminist movement of his era.

The modern ideal of the perfect woman is a recent development. From the Venus figurines of the Upper Paleolithic, which emphasize large breasts, hips and abdomens, to the Venetian style of painting by masters like Titian, in the 16th century, to the Rubenesque woman of the Baroque period, there was a time where women of size was seen as a symbol of wealth and health.

More recently, fetish artists like Namio Harakuwa are well-known for creating work featuring Voluptuous Dommes engaging in facesitting, smothering, human furniture and bondage in his art.

Another example of a famous artist known for his BBW Dominatrix is comic creator Robert Crumb. Through his “Art & Beauty “ magazine series, he has long championed women who are “solid and strong,” with “thick limbs, bulging thigh muscles, and big bottoms”.

The Recent Voluptuous Domme in Modern Media

A pivotal moment in the representation of the BBW dominatrix was the character Kat Hernandez (played by Barbie Ferreira) in the HBO series Euphoria. Kat turns to online sessions as a virtual dominatrix to reclaim her sexuality.

The 2021 video game Resident Evil Village broke the internet with the character Lady Dimitrescu, a 9’6” vampire noblewoman. This giantess embodies all the characteristics of the professional dominatrix and lights the idea of the femme fatale on fire by making her imposing, scary, and sexy as hell.

The Thoughts and Experiences of Real-Life Voluptuous Dommes

So now that it’s established that both ancient history and modern history reveres the Voluptuous Domme, now it’s time to talk to several currently practicing and succeeding Professional Dominatrices who identify as curvy, BBW, or voluptuous.

What follows is a series of questions that I asked to a panel of Dommes who include Miss Betty Rage, Madam Cruella, Goddess Dahlia, Mistress Darren, and Mistress Simone Worthington.

Have you found that clients seek you out specifically because of your size? If so, what do you think draws them?

“Yes of course. I would say that most of my regulars are attracted to my aesthetic and then stay long-term because of my approach towards domination and our chemistry. In Southeast Asia (SEA), fat shaming is still very prevalent unfortunately. There is still an unsaid stigma towards embracing, condoning and therefore expressing attraction towards bigger women.

So to come across a BBW Asian Domina is a rare opportunity (specifically in SEA).”

Madame Cruella
“Not always but I would say 40/50% will at some point either in their application or at the session mention my figure/size. I think what draws them is usually two things, either they like how strong and imposing a bigger body is, making them feel small and insignificant, weak. Or they view a voluptuous body as the peak example of The Feminine, a body that speaks of experience and life.

I have heard the term “a real woman’s body” many times. This of course is not in any way said in any kind of way that is derogatory to anyone elses bodies but speaks to something many used to adore, especially when you think of statues like the Venus of Willendorf.”

“Yes, I do find some clients approach me due to my voluptuousness. They equate the body type to sensuality, strength or power, whichever feeds their desire/need.

Amazon, Goddess, and Giantess are words I often hear from clients. The towering over the weaker male, the ability to crush them, or being above them on a pillar to worship- I feel are the ideologies that come with the plus size Dominatrices.

While I do enjoy the power that comes from such concepts, I do wish these traits were associated with all women, not based on a stereotype.”

“Yes! Most of my clients approach me because of my size. They are looking for a larger, heavier woman to dominate them, or they are seeking a plus-size, voluptuous goddess to worship.

I believe that is a compliment to me and a reminder that being plus-sized is my “niche” in the area.”

Miss Betty Rage
“I have various clients mention my body shape, but it is not always a driver and if they do, it is always incredibly positive. Mostly it is in reference to my ass and my thighs specifically. I am curvy but strong.

I find most men contact me because I look like I could either crush them or beat them up. There is an element of fear and intrigue.

That’s what I thrive off most.”

Have your clients ever expressed how your body type affects their fantasies or emotional experience?

Madam Cruella
“Clients have told me that my physique makes them want to be overpowered and intimidated. It has made them want to be crushed and smothered with no chance of escape, they feel a larger woman makes them weaker as if we have the strength and power to do whatever we want and they will be powerless to stop us.

I particularly enjoy this type of narrative.”

Mistress Simone Worthington
“Yes, particularly when it comes to smothering/trampling and manhandling fantasies.

One of my long-time slaves loves my weight on him, feeling crushed like a bug underneath me. It is key to his experience.

Another enjoys lying on the floor, gazing up at his supreme Goddess while she steps on him.

My body size and shape can be key to a client’s fetish but it is also about the confidence, energy and strength a Domme exudes. This is often equated with a larger person.

“Oh, of course! The ones that like to lavish me with compliments are constantly going on and on about how attractive they find me and certain features of my body. It’s always either my butt, legs, belly or breasts.

They are either turned on and in reverence or feel small and vulnerable around a woman of my size.”

“Men contact me because of a mixture of things. From my perspective they are a little scared. They want a woman who looks like they can crush them and beat them up.

I think this adds to their fantasy and the realization that it could become a reality, or they can at least experience an element of what they desire, of being totally dominated, controlled, overpowered, and not standing a chance and knowing that you can deliver it.

I love seeing a man enter the dungeon slightly afraid…”

“Fantasies definitely vary but some examples of clients expressing utmost appreciation towards my body type would be scenes with body trampling, smothering and worship. It’s one thing to love the kink, but to be pushed to the limit with sheer weight and size in a session does make you feel more vulnerable mentally!”

Do you feel the industry is becoming more inclusive of different body types, or is there still a long way to go?

Mistress Simone Worthington
“Unfortunately I feel we will always be battling social stigmatization on plus-size bodies, especially when the beauty industry sells us an impossible social norm that has led to strong body dysphoria in our young people. This is the model we base beauty on. For a while, the body inclusion movement was making progress. I loved it. But now it seems like a backslide is happening, and that makes me sad/angry. 

It has changed since the time a woman with large, natural curves was considered healthy, strong and vibrant. But that is exactly why many of my clients desire me. Let’s not forget the motherly aspect of our body type. 

Ideally, I feel a society should not judge other souls based on a finite thing such as looks and body size. Instead let’s be attracted to the traits that hold true all one’s life: intelligence, kindness, humor and depth.”

“Yes, I feel the industry is becoming much more accepting of different body types.  Perhaps this is due to the self-promotion that social media has had. 

Average or “outside of the norm” ladies putting themselves out on the internet via OnlyFans and IG and getting a huge positive response from men….it tells you that while mainstream looks are very popular, there are plenty of people out there that find other looks appealing.”

“The most critique I have ever received with the way I look is from other sex workers and peers. Not clients.

I’ve been both fat and thin. Bodies change. But what’s interesting is people’s perspective on you and the value they place you as.

When I was thin and lived an unhealthy lifestyle, I was celebrated as being hot and attractive. As soon as I recovered and changed shape, I was told my body was inadequate, undesirable, that men wouldn’t find me attractive and if they did it was a niche.

I was told by a fellow sex worker that I would be lucky to even get one client a month with “the way I looked and how big I am”. Spinning it like anything that came my way would be purely down to luck. That’s not true. At least from a client point of view.

Clients come to you because you are specialist in what you offer, and you have charisma and charm. They feel safe with you.

I had never considered my body to be so political in its latest form nor so open for discussion. It’s a body and if we were all the same size and shape. Life would be pretty fucking boring.

So, in short. We have a long way to go. Other people’s bodies are still a topic of hot discussion for those who feel insecure about their own. Everyone deserves a place and everybody should be celebrated.”

“In Asia, we definitely have more to grow. I would personally like to see more body inclusivity in the industry, even in terms of toys and fashion. However in more Western parts of the world, I have had wonderful experiences interacting with both clients and fellow professionals.”

“Definitely! I think pre-Covid before OF and other similar platforms started flying ahead in popularity it was still the norm to see the stereotypical slim blondes and brunettes being pushed as the only acceptable face.

Being able to create and sell your own content and interact on a personal level with fans changed the landscape, suddenly it was an equal playing field and bigger and alternative people in the industry were being seen and appreciated.

I’ve seen lots of people right across the adult industry who had struggled to make ends meet before get bigger and finally become successful and thrive which has been great to see.”

What advice would you give to other curvy women considering entering this line of work?

Mistress Darren
“Be yourself.  Be who you are because that is what is going to make you stand out from the rest.  Be happy and do what makes you happy and that will attract followers to you.”

Miss Betty Rage
“Be confident in who you are and don’t listen to what anyone has to say about your body. Invest in yourself to feel good, feeling good about the way you look shines through in everything else you do.

If someone is making your body political. Harness it to your power. It is better to be different and stand out in the crowd, then get lost in a sea of bodies who look the same. Use it as your USP and don’t listen to anyone who dares tell you that you are undesirable. It is not true; you are desirable, and your body is beautiful.”

“Don’t bother reading comments on social media unless you’re confident and steadfast in who you are. Whether good or bad, they are just projections from people you aren’t paid to handle.”

Madam Cruella
“Own every single thing you hate about your body because there are literally millions of men out there for whom it is the hottest thing on the planet. Every stretch mark, cellulite dimple, muffin top, apron belly, bingo wing is sexy as fuck.

It’s going to be hard at first to get over but the continual positive reinforcement of compliments from fans and clients will repair so much damage done over the years.”

“Stick to who you are in your style. Don’t let others change your style. Know that those lashing out about body size are small-minded and petty. It’s their issue not yours, even though it stings.”

What do you want readers to understand about the strength and appeal of dominatrixes who don’t fit conventional body standards?

Miss Betty Rage
“There is so much power being true to yourself, to harness the confidence to not conform and be different is incredibly powerful, I don’t want to look like anyone else, I want to be someone memorable.

Be the person someone has never seen before. Be the body that they have only dreamed of.

I would say I tick three boxes; I am curvy, I am tattooed, and I have a gothic/vintage look to me. I would say these are the points that make me at first sight seem more interesting.

Looking different and standing out makes you memorable and when someone is scrolling along a page full of people who look similar, stop at you.

The more you own the way and shape you are, the more powerful you will appear and that speaks through everything you put out there.”

“I would like the readers to know that most of the best Dominatrix in the industry are in fact not the prettiest, slimmest, cookie cutter image people created and pushed by a handful of men based on their own personal tastes and forced on the world of BDSM.

The best dommes are the bigger, weirder, more interesting women who live, breathe and love the kinks they engage in. We didn’t have the privilege of resting on the laurels of looks so we did the work and we know our stuff.”

“Trying to shove all of us into a set mold is to miss out on potentially meeting a fantastic Dominatrix. Open your eyes to the creative juices of these dommes. You could find your perfect match.”

“While I’m not trying to convey a message to anyone, I would simply say to readers that everyone has their “type” or their “thing” that turns them on. Both men and women have physical traits that they find attractive, and that’s ok. 

I think as you mature and get older you realize that you’re into what you’re into and who cares what society or others think.  Everyone’s allowed to be attracted to what they are attracted to!

And to some men… large, strong, authoritative women are sexy and appealing.  And amen for that.”

You’ve been active in the lifestyle kink community since 1998 and went full-time ProDomme in 2018. What inspired you to make that transition when you did?

At the end of 2017 there was a great conjunction (haha). Things aligned in some powerful ways to shove me into the nearly insane amount of work and patience that is getting started without a dungeon.

I had long considered it of course, having done commissions on request. But going Pro requires SO MUCH hassle with scammers and time wasters, besides all the incredible work with setting up a business, marketing, finding clients, …. and safety. Having a dungeon to get clients for a person, screen for safety with staff on site, plus provide the space, tools, supplies, marketing, and so much more is how most Pros get started for good reason. I had none of that. At least I had a lot of toys and tools !

I also had long thought I couldn’t be a Pro because I’m not “The Type”.

You know, the Domme fantasy : tall, big busted, mean, demanding.

Yet here I am – rather small at 5’3 (big personality tho) and full of joy, playful, creating a lot of laughter in scenes – even as a sadist. And I’m rather sweet looking, plus actually deeply caring. Nothing aloof.

During this conjunction I had a pretty big epiphany about all this, realizing I had so many people at events love me for this laughter, newbies coming to me for the safety they felt in my caring.

I finally realized that of course there would be some folks out in the world that would also be looking for this, for a long term real experience, or even just to experience something different. I just had to be clear about who I am and help them find me.

We like many flavours of jelly beans, after all.

As for the rest of this conjunction…

At the end of 2017 I went for a walk on a snowy day with our bright Alberta sunshine blasting down, sat in a quiet park and meditated on what to do with the next steps in my life. I was nearly out of money again, but looking to find my own solo apartment and settle down after extensive travels. So I’d need proper income and was debating what to do with the next stages of my life, especially with how to finish writing my first book (a travel memoir).

It really was one of those moments like in the stories, feeling a force lifted right through me. I’ve had this before – another one of my callings with a powerful Now or Never feeling. I just HAD to finally give it a go.

Though there was a lot of logic to back it up.

The one excellent ProDomme in my city had recently retired and a few months earlier a darling friend had been horribly embezzled out of thousands of dollars from a proDomme in another city. These were powerful motivators for me to be the Pro that could help people, who is here to help people while mutually making money and having fun. Hurt, rather than harm, as we say.

My education was born from learning and playing over many years, from dozens of teachers as well as from tons of events and partners and friends with hundreds of people. Opposite to how most Pros learn – as a job, for financial reasons just as most jobs – gaining education from one person or location. Nearly all my closest friends were part of this community.

I really love a lot more than just the playtime – I love the people, the culture, the openness… All over the world I have met some of the very best of humans and friendships. It’s a lot more than just a bit of extra spice to vanilla. For many of us something in our kink is a deep soul need.

I know in the deepest of ways how important this is, yet I know also how hard it can be to get certain desires met.

Both for Tops and bottoms.

Even if you are part of the community it can be extremely hard to find someone to connect with. Especially with busy lives, different interests, especially if your desires are rather one sided… On top of that, the problem of a lack of responsible Tops. SO MANY friends stopped subbing due to this. Even if you CAN find someone, say, great at rope – that doesn’t mean they have time and energy for everyone…for you…Maybe once in a very rare while….. But then maybe you want to be pegged, and the reality is it takes SO MUCH work – very one sided work. The person using a strap on just doesn’t get the same physical enjoyment, it’s physically difficult. That’s a lot of labour to ask of a partner. Sure many enjoy that but people just don’t always have time, energy, or physical capability in their lives.

Plus the years of skill building… Where can someone get this if they aren’t in a relationship to give back to, for it? And how to get this if you aren’t in the community or can’t find a partner where you’ll have the opportunity to reciprocate such labours?

It’s really as simple a need as going to a massage therapist instead of asking our partners for a massage every week. If we can even find a partner who is good at massage.

Or to enjoy the secret desires that feel unsafe to share… This can be a big one for men looking to explore their femme, or even their submissive sides.

Beyond play, there’s of course all those I teach – for workshops and big events we can often find a class but to learn in an ongoing way, to delve in to the mental and emotional understanding to play with while protecting a partner, for instance.

I had recognized that it was time to charge for the extensive education I was giving.

As a proDomme I could offer a safe haven, while also having some of my needs taken care of, including the financial requirements which would give me the time, energy, and ability to be there.

Plus on top of all this, a huge cherry Topping delight -I also happen to have a seriously mind melting fetish for financial caretaking. Especially in being paid to do wonderful (and mean) kinky things to people. Even writing about it gets me going, just as a latex fetishist would when smelling rubber.

Service is my Love language – I could be served while serving – do good things in the world and make money, too.

It was time to try.

How did founding “The Garden” in 2008 shape your approach to education and leadership within the BDSM community?

The Garden was basically an extension of a previous event that had ended, one that had meant a LOT to me.

Getting to have fun dressing up all sexy in kink and fetish clothes for a nightclub event – with DJs, performers, hilarious MCs, dancing and easy socializing, plus a little bit of play around a pool table …. Ahh it was fun!

It gave me a community.

So I wanted to continue that for myself and others.

But on deeper levels, I see how my approach of leadership was embedded from who I am and where I came from.

I often had no money in my younger years, so being able to go out with friends in such spaces where we could be safe and really have fun, exploring ourselves and each other, it was incredibly important to have that. Much more than just a fun night out.

Accessibility is important to me – including cost wise. I kept my events incredibly low cost.

I also had been bullied in school, as many kids are which was part of how I ended up so brazenly ferocious.

Sadly today a lot of events are run by organizers who are also bullies, just like junior high.

I consciously ran things against bullying and clique mentality, having boundaries around problematic people. No ostracizing community members for differences of opinion, or breakups in relationships, or even arguing. I even hired a performer that I personally had big issues with.

People were welcome to come as they were – unless and until they were a problem. Much more a justice system I believe in.

Maybe due to it being the early days of the internet, Fetlife was then brand new and really only populated by real kinksters – so going out to meet people was normal. Pick up play was the norm. People had lots of chances to experience a bit of play, and also a lot of hands-on education.

That is all part of my ethos to this day, and in fact can make it hard for me at events as I’m not used to pre-planning everything, pre-filling a dance card, as it were.

You emphasize safer, saner, highly educated experiences. What does does that mean to you?

As I’ve said, I came to being a ProDomme through the lifestyle. I’m also a switch – learning in much the way the Leather community used to say was required – from bottom up.

As a Switch I have a much deeper understanding of the incredible empowerment and also difficulties of choosing, over and over, BDSM. Of choosing things (like pain, or giving up controls) that may be hard, and going through the incredible release it can bring. AND the incredible joy of taking control.

The power and freedom and pleasure of BDSM. The release in playing within our Fetishes. The Soul calling of D/s dynamics.

And the incredibly compelling connections to our play partners that often comes with it.

The depth of what happens mentally and emotionally which is hard to explain or teach.

I feel this personally. Yes, of course it’s in my own way, but I get it in a way someone who comes to this for financial reasons, or even those who ONLY experience one side of the slash, will likely never get close to understanding.

But even just the skills of it – it hugely helps me to play with others, to use the knowledge for control.

AND it is the basis of such respect I have for that gift AND the inherent risks.

Story time:

It was at a huge event in New York, sometime in the late 90s, that I first found my truly sadistic delight. A man basically begged me to push my sharp heels into his balls.

When he squeaked something in my brain snapped – in the most delicious of ways.

I’d already been service topping …but it was at that moment when something in my brain really snapped. I almost came just from his sound.

I LOVED it in that way we could write poetry about.

It’s hard to even come close to explaining but some know the feeling. A full body, total mind opening, uplifting excitement while at once also grounding. Hugely focusing – like everything disappeared except for the two of us for the next little while.

It put a deep, very sexy, reverberation right through me that I still feel today when I get those noises from subs.

Over the many years (which became decades) I’ve been to soooo many classes, workshops, conventions, and constant events- being a demo bottom, performer, etc as well as a lot of personal play. Eventually facilitating classes myself…

And very often play was non sexual. Kink because kink is important.

Skills and experience grew. But they grew in a manner of ongoing relationships, friendships to be kept, that mattered.

It’s a level of skill backed by responsibility and real care for kink partners and bottoms as friends, lovers, and community members (that most pros never get a chance to have).

Not only did I become highly educated and highly skilled, but woven into it was my love.

The good…..

And… the bad ….

Givers and Service Oriented humans are often used.

Women are often treated this way- as if a kink dispensing candy machine. The very reality of Jeff Foxworthy’s jokes on a woman out paving the whole driveway while a man will feel all proud (and somehow feel equal) from cleaning an ashtray.

I gave, and gave, and gave – floggings, education, pleasure, spankings…. So much – and far too often one sided. I’d often go home exhausted and very horny.

Not to be a party pooper, but this is also sadly common.

I got burnt out.

I hold a heart full of wanting people to have better experiences, to have that fun, while being safe and respected, to have their submission honoured …

AND WITH IT: Mutual enjoyment….

Mutual upliftment. Mutual caretaking.

I am taken care of now with a built in reciprocity so I’m no longer getting burnt out.

Funny enough, not just from being paid for my work, but it also gives people a lot more respect for the energy they are given, but with it also a lot of really delightful play.

Compassion with responsibility built on a lifetime of skills.

It’s mixing a lifestyle relationships led approach with some simpler opportunities for access that has led to lots of incredible long term, very real, relationships with people.

After over three decades in the international kink community, how has your philosophy of dominance evolved?

Be Even More Playful.

(Be less serious, try new things).

Though I’m sure I could write whole chapters on this, too.

Just like ANY and ALL long term relationships, even with having different people -my goodness it can get a bit same- same without creativity.

Build the Foundations with respect, the boundaries with real awareness and skill, then go wild with the decorating!

What do you think separates a lifestyle Dominant from someone simply playing a role?

Role play can be a great way to start that inner movement, but if a person is pretending at being something (perhaps for money, or role play game) they likely do not have the depth of connection, responsibility, skills or safety to it that can get built up by being in the lifestyle. As they say, practice only makes you better if you are changing and learning, otherwise it is only instilling bad habits.

Being a Dominant for 30 years only makes you good if you are open to learning, bettering yourself, growing. Not defending self but investigating. A big issue with some of the ego “masters”. Haha.

I’d say another one of the bigger differences is that with role play it’s for the moment, fun of some experience; where being a Dominant has vested interest for long term.

A large part of it all also is in if and how we explore and challenge the roles the world has tried to force us into, especially around patriarchy’s rules. How we investigate, unpack, and heal our internalized narratives and go from there… For instance – a woman finding her power with all the bs of the world is a very different thing than a man being in power. For both, exploring how to be dominant rather than domineering with today’s push for abuse and greed is important. On the other side of that coin, a submissive has different things to deal with in themselves if they are a man wanting to give up power, vs a woman. While both need to challenge the external pressures that we are supposed to be in control all the time.

You’re known for playful creativity alongside serious care. How do you balance sadism with nurture?

Incredibly detailed pre-negotiations to be super clear and aware, check-ins during to know exactly where we are, plus after care together, including a check-in a few days later.

Also – it’s really fun, and can actually be very healing, to mix physical pain with mental and emotional upliftment.

Many say kink can be therapeutic – and there is good reason for that. (Those who crave/require corporal punishment often know this one)

I really get to have a special kind of fun with this in the punishments and rewards of my kinky fitness/lifestyle coaching. Having to better yourself OR ELSE!!! Bwahahahaha.

How do you design sessions that feel deeply personalized?

This might be one of my ND superpowers – ADHD meets Autistic traits with a weirdly useful mix of special interests.

Being that playful person mentioned so much here, having a huge array of interests in various kinks and fetishes and role play fun, plus I actually LOVE making fantasies come true (or as close to it as we can in reality). It’s like creating a story based on LOADS of information – hence my consult process.

Maybe also because I’m not in a busy location (and I’m not the best with marketing) so I have more time and energy to give each special client.

Pegging and femme training are specialties of yours, what draws you to these particular scenes?

Two major factors – One is the power and control aspect (She says as she giggles in that adorably evil way that makes subs squeak)…. The other is the pure joy in helping people have an outlet for the incredible healing and comfort that is in their feminine energy. To explore their better femme self.

Especially with how so many men have to hide it for their safety.

AND also for women/ vulva owners, to be able to enjoy real pleasure – often a rarity in women’s lives. I have more than once been a woman’s first orgasm. Our world needs a lot of change, but how men give women pleasure is certainly a top one.

So I adore helping women explore their pleasure, and help them get to relax into their feminine selves.

While I do not offer escort services, there are often things that may seem grey area in my choices of sensation manipulations…

Side note: I ALSO love helping folks explore their masc or androgynous sides (OR/AND dehumanization).

Playing within powerful dichotomies of energy is a big favourite.

Communication is something you emphasize strongly. What does effective communication look like before, during, and after a session?

This is something that becoming a proDomme really helped me on – communication, especially with boundaries.

In the consult we delve deeper into interests, wants, fears, limits, etc. I have a very long negotiation/ consult form for those who wish to explore deeper.

Before I even accept a bottom I look at their application and ONLY accept play partners that I feel will be well aligned for both of us.

I’ve created the longest negotiation form I’ve ever seen, delving into many aspects to find out what’s on the table for them and how they will feel about certain things, to get to know where their minds are at, what experience they have, what they want to explore, as well as all the important things (though I hear many pros don’t even ask about hard limits never mind the other stuff).
I also have a professional waiver, which I’ve never seen any others use.

There is also a certain amount of training I do to help bottoms communicate, which I have soft and hard ways of teaching.

Ground work stemming from an understanding that subs often have trouble speaking up, especially those with a desire to please, or who are new and unsure.

For ongoing darlings I also will take time in education post-session as well.

Of course with aftercare, to help them come back to their brains and bodies to be able to safely go about the rest of their day.

Check ins later to check in on how they are doing, especially if newer, and also to gain feedback for future play. This helps give me awareness and clarity to better choose and take deeper Control – knowing exactly which knob does what. ;P

Trust grows over time for both of us.

Yes, what I learn about them, the knowledge for trust or where to be more cautious, is needed – not only to control AND protect them, but also to protect myself – and to have a lot of my own fun as we ease into each other.

Does this all seem like I found a wonderful way to use some special interests for a career?! Yes.

Oh, yes, – canes are also very helpful for communicating seriously..

Many clients describe going “deeper into submission” over time with you. How do you build that long-term trust?

This is one of my greatest honours. I believe it stems from the deep responsibility I take for others, myself, and my work, with my substantial, honest caring nature. Hyper vigilance skills have come in handy – giving me an ability of reading people. Really it’s By BEING honorable. The reality is that trust is a mutual thing. Much as answered in the previous question – I need to LEARN their bodies and brains to better choose what to do so I can get them where I/we want them to go….

AND they have to be honest so I can do that.

Brene Brown’s ideas on the marble jar of trust rings very true for me. People experience over time how I’m paying attention, my unique way of doing check ins during and after play, how hard limits are honoured, the boundaries of the known walked up to and explored, rather than beaten through.

I think that’s a big part of it – when I pay attention and actually learn and use that learning well.

Maybe also in other ways (we’d have to ask them!).

I’ve been told though that even just the validation and acceptance of people’s kinks or fetishes that they are shy about, or scared of, or had been previously shot down about, has often been powerfully meaningful for people.

Often people are yearning so hard it hurts to be allowed to be who they are (in safe consensual ways, we aren’t talking acceptance of sociopathic harm here).

I think also because I’m NOT that mean, aloof sort. Turns out it’s rather comforting for many when they are nervous, that I actually care about them.

Plus, there is something very relaxing about someone hurting you while making you laugh.

You describe yourself as dynamic and multilayered. How do you reconcile the intellectual, romantic, athletic, and sadistic aspects of yourself?

SUCH A GREAT QUESTION: And possibly a large part of why I don’t have a huge following. EVERY marketing manual says you have to pick a niche. But I do not – at all. I have a huge mix.

Latex and gas masks and dark scary dungeons to sparkly pink workout FitDom stuff. Heavy SM to super soft sensation play, heavy boots to beautiful high heels…

After all, I am an actual (kinky) human rather than just-a-fantasy kinks- candy machine.

I just am dynamic. So my pages all include a huge variety.

I love kink and reading economic and political books. I enjoy softer cuddly times… Why have to pick just latex and gas masks ?

I also very much enjoy spending real- life time with ongoing subs, sharing meals or going to events, to even travel together. I think that helps, seeing me as a person and reconciling that in myself too. My choices that bring in the ‘lifestyle real-relationships meets pro’ dynamics.

I think part of it is simply allowing myself to be a real human who is present as a professional.

You’ve mentioned being neurodivergent and constantly learning. How does that shape the way you relate to submissives?

I hear I am a lot more open and interested, or validating, than most.

With learning – Constantly adding and learning and practice allows me to do more, different things. I learned how to sound for a sub. That was fantastic. Love that!

So many people are only interested in what they already like and know. But I actually like to do things outside of my interests, sometimes just for the fun of something new, sometimes in that juicy fun I have in making people’s fantasies come true, but always also with the understanding that I have found SO many real interests from trying new things.

There are a few hard limits, of course, but my ADHD love of “NEW TOYS” helps me have a lot of fun with a lot of diverse subs and bottoms. I relate to them more openly for it, more accepting than I often see.

I think a LOT of clients of ProDommes are also neurospicy, so I think that helps in relating to each other.

What are some unexpected challenges you’ve faced?

One of the challenges I didn’t know I’d have to face in going pro was in the kink community at home.

Even though they’d mostly never want to admit that, especially as being anti SWer is so looked down upon now, This happened even with people who knew me for a decade or more prior, who knew me as a real kinkster who is human and wants relationships as a human… and again, Even Though they are often also SW’ers of a sort through sex education or running events – there is still an incredible bias and ostracizing against ProDommes from organizers.

Such as going to events. I’ve often been singled out and warned – if I even get that chance.

Let’s say a person is an independent contractor who does house repairs. If someone else in the community found out and needed help in their home they’d be encouraged to hire from this community member. But with me,if someone wants help with a specific experience and I mention that I’m pro and may be able to help I could be banned. I’ve had multiple organizers have ‘chats’ with me before I’ve even gone to the event about this – warning me not to in any way try to pick up clients. Of course I wouldn’t go just to get clients (and if someone did act problematically of course THEN you have a talk with them).

Another aspect is not being allowed to be paid or bring clients to events, even though many sex workers go with male partners AND men are often paid at events for their work – hugely seen within the leather community with boot blacks getting tips. However even for the same events I’d often been told I wasn’t allowed to, not even be tipped for use of my supplies, education or services.

Sadly, it has even been far worse than this. One of the hardest eras of my life has come since I went pro due to one event organizer who ran most of the events in the city for years. She immediately banned me from everything the very moment I announced going Pro. No discussion, no finding out why.

Even though we had always gotten along, and I’d been to many of their events even recently. Literally within 10 minutes of posting I got a message.

Not only was I horribly ostracized from almost all chances to see my friends or meet new people (cause I’m a human and like to have relationships and lovers too) but years later they even openly said in an online teaching discussion that they’d maybe see someone play, even if it was many times, and see they were good and had not heard complaints, but they would go ahead and tell new people that they should stay away because they had a bad feeling about the person.

I knew it was about me.

Yet it wasn’t being recorded and legal fees to fight such a thing could be incredibly high, plus what would that accomplish?

While this person later became known and outed for a lot of abuses, it did it’s damage – and still does from what she instilled not only against me but also in teaching the next gen. Normalizing abuse like this, being THE newbie educator, also deeply instilled this crap into the next generation of how things are run today.

Many of the best folks just got tired of it all and left the community, and the reality is that often cliques and bullies do run things in lots of the world. They maintain power by excluding anyone who would dare mention any issue.

And the kink community IS part of the real world filled with all the mess of the real world.

I expected some stigma in the vanilla world, but it’s far harsher from within my own community.

After all, the kink community is where I have always found the best of friendships and personal connections so losing a large part of that access just for wanting to HELP my community and world is really hard.

For someone curious but nervous about exploring kink for the first time, what would you want them to understand?

Understand that these desires are far more normal than you may currently think.

First and foremost – When looking to explore – Be sure the person you are hoping to help you is looking to protect you and your limits.

• My goodness a lot of predators try to catch new folks with some dangerous ideas of “you don’t get to have limits”. Yikes!!

Do some research and learn! Read some books on kink and consent!

Know that you don’t know your boundaries yet, so no one else can either.

• Take your time so that you have lots of time to return. Sure you want to do ALL THE THINGS. Or worse, say yes out of a need to please.

Think about leaning in, rather than leaping off.

** !! Treat humans as humans, not kink dispensers.

** How are they being served for the time and energy of helping you explore?

It takes a HUGE amount of mental and emotional energy to take responsibility for someone, especially if it’s centered on teaching or guiding.

Plus it’s a TON of physical labour to wield a flogger or spank, or do rope, or peg someone. It’s hard on the body!

Be mindful of that.

Human, not kink dispenser.

SEE A PRO – Just as you go to a trained professional for any other service request.

I often help couples learn for their own relationships as well as take new folks on their first journeys.

Be it to try out different sensations, or how to safely create them.

Just like when our muscles are sore we hire a massage therapist.

Except much more important.

In What To Look For: Pro or Not – find someone who has a solid history.

Where and how have they built skills? With who? Do they have friends and a real life connection online? Vet them! Look for a long lasting presence and that they are a real person.. See how they engage with people in comments. Find someone who has a safety screening process. If there is none then something is wrong. Why are they not protecting themselves? Meet at community munches. Or for seeing a Pro – perhaps meet first for coffee, or in a video chat. You’ll likely have to pay for that time of course, but it can be very helpful to chat first. Or consider going to a well known dungeon. Either way, be sure your desire and horny excitement don’t make you jump in to what is inherently dangerous without self preservation care.

In my photos you can see that I have many clients, and that quite a few are obviously the same people over many years. Repeat, happy friends with good reviews. Look for that.

If you’re both new, find a good safer place to learn! Besides education with pros you have munches, classes, conventions, tons of books, and community play parties.

When someone leaves Persephone’s Playhouse after an experience with you, what do you hope they carry with them beyond the memory?

A sense of acceptance, in being.

A lot of secret smiles at memories… If impact or pain play was part of it, I hope they’ll get a little reminder jolt every time they sit or lean on something for a while.

And of course, a whole lot of looking forward to the next time!

i make cute and cozy comics about an ambitionless witch who lives in a boat stuck in a tree. it features realistic relationships, magical fun and lots of unsubtle themes of gentle femdom. i’ve been making it for a few years now, it started as short, jokey comics but has recently evolved into a long-form story which is 50% romcom 50% magic battle.

How did you get into creating art and when did you start doing comics?

an artist i admire posted a “kinktober” set of prompts one year. i really wanted to give them a go, so made a page specifically to share them. like most projects like this, i didn’t get through the whole month (i think i made 10 drawings) but i enjoyed drawing the characters i made for it so began using them in comics. some of them are still in the comic story i’m working on today.

What is The Ongoing Adventures of Tonnerre?

“the ongoing adventures of tonnerre” was a place holder name from my comic, but i never came up with anything else so it stuck. it’s my first foray into drawing comics which aren’t just short jokes, but a long story. right now it’s currently about a witch (tonnerre) returning to her small hometown in wales after being in a pleasure dimension for two years. thinking she’s the center of the universe, she’s quite shocked to find that all her friends have continued with their lives while she’s been away. i always describe as something like “a cute and cozy comic about realistic relationships, magical intrigue and gentle femdom.”

How would you describe your style?

cute and cozy! i draw simple characters and write complex ones (hopefully).

Who are your comic influences?

saucier materials i like are a graphic novel called “curvy” and a hungarian comic called jucika. the non-saucy stuff is the cartoons i watched as a kid plus gorillaz.

You are producing comic pages one at a time and presenting them on the web. Why did you choose that avenue versus creating a full comic and either soliciting it to comic stores or doing crowdfunding campaigns?

i’m very shy, painfully so. making a comic just to post online is the easiest way to create it without having to have stressful conversations. it also means i get immediate feedback on pages, which is always nice to read.

Please tell us what your art process is like on a comic page. What kinds of tools or apps do you use?

i use clipstudiopaint for everything. i’m still very much “learning” so the process takes me a long time. i’m sure as i get better there are parts i can cut out. right now i’m scripting a few chapters at a time, drawing thumbnails, doing a rough sketch to block out the page, doing a better sketch with the characters faces etc, then inking/coloring/lettering etc. when they’re all done i spend the most time just slightly tinkering with overlays and halftones and trying to fix anatomy.

The Ongoing Adventures of Tonnere is not strictly a NSFW comic, there’s a lot going on besides erotic content. Why did you choose to add erotic content to your comic, and do you think it helps or hurts getting your work out to a wider audience?

i did it the other way, i started with erotic content and then realized it hits so much better if i care about the characters and emotion involved.

the nsfw art community is so great, i think being part of it definitely gives you a boost and i’m so happy to be involved with, but it’s also harder to breakthrough into the sphere of sfw art once you have the label “NSFW artist.”

What do people say about your comic? What is the thing that someone has said that touched you the most?

anybody noticing ~anything~ about my comic blows my mind. i’m so grateful for anybody who follows the story or notices details. there’s so much entertainment in the world and i’m so pleased whenever someone uses their time to read my weird little tale!

What works best for you to get engagement in social media? What would you suggest to people who are struggling with social media, particularly as someone who does NSFW content.

my biggest tip would be to not care about the numbers. if you’re getting 10 interactions per comic then you’ll be annoyed you’re not getting 100. if you’re getting 100, you’ll be annoyed you’re not getting 1,000. the important thing is making genuine connections with people and having good conversations over the art.

How long do you plan on doing The Ongoing Adventures of Tonnerre?

until i’m old. the storyline i have planned out probably won’t finish for a year or two, and then after that i know where i want to take a new story. i try to age tonn up with me so she can go through life parallel to me.

What other projects would you like to do in the future?

i keep planning side projects too often! some get finished, some don’t. i have a few zines started that exist in the same universe that hopefully i’ll finish one day. the current one is some black & white comics set during the time tonn lived in the demons’ realm.

Please tell us how long you’ve been doing art and when you started doing NSFW art.

I think this question actually deserves two answers.

When I was about 13 or 14, I remember creating this sort of comic that touched on BDSM themes. I can’t remember all the details (that was about 25 years ago), but I think it was about a woman that had to undergo a right of passage which involved her being taken to a neighboring tribe and forced to endure all manner of erotic treatment. That comic was the earliest thing I can remember getting down and onto paper. Sadly, it was confiscated by my parents after they caught me drawing in it.

For the next twenty years or so, my skill mostly consisted of loose sketches scrawled in a variety of notebooks and hidden in a variety of places! Eventually, drawing took a back seat to acquiring an education and the eventual pursuit of a soul-crushing state of being inside a PG-rated job. That all changed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in my release from that grinding existence and entry into a truly memorable chapter of my life – being unemployed.

Instead of sitting around and playing through Skyrim for the fifth time, I decided to pick up a new skill and give digital painting a try. The moment the stylus hit the tablet, I was hooked. For the next year, I’d spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours logging miles into developing my skills as a digital artist. There’d be times when I’d draw 12 to 16 hours a day for days on end!

All good things must come to an end, and for me, that meant returning to full-time employment. Since that unforgettable year of unemployment, I’ve taken on several roles that have made it challenging to dedicate the time I believe my art truly deserves. As a result, I’ve had to fit drawing in whenever I could. With that in mind, I probably have a solid three years clocked as a professional adult artist.

P.S. Oh yeah, I also took a variety of art classes at the college level which ranged from Drawing to Color Theory and even Sculpting. I’ve also taken all the classes that have anything to do with 3D art and animation.

How would you describe your art style? How has it evolved over the years?

My style resides somewhere between western and hentai. I know that’s a huge swath of territory, but it fits. I grew up being enthralled with hentai, so that definitely acts as a source of inspiration for me, but since practicing at a professional level, I’ve studied mainly off of western style artists.

I guess it depends on how you view a half full/empty glass of milk, but art is one of those subjects that can absolutely break you upon reaching a point where you can just begin to grasp how much skill it takes to reach the top of the mountain. It’s one of those things where the more you learn, the more you learn just how much you still have to learn.

Here’s an example; the first thing you learn in any respectable learn-to-draw space is how to draw a line or how to draw a circle. And you could spend days just figuring those two things out. In fact, I’m still working on those two skills! Let that sink in for a second. Then think about just how much distance exists from that point to a finished piece complete with well thought-out form, working color theory and lighting that tells a story. It’s mind-boggling. And yet, that’s how it is. Every contact between tablet and stylus grows my skills as an artist and maybe, eventually I’ll be the one calling down from the top of that mountain.

What are your favorite subjects? What can people expect when they see your work?

Bondage, bondage, bondage. ? If it wasn’t clear, I do a lot of bondage. BUT! I also have a love for a lot of other genres too and dip into them on a whim. Those may include fetish stuff like furry, humiliation/degradation, pregnancy or I may just want to do a sexy pin-up piece. I also really like the futanari space, but for whatever reason, I don’t usually end up drawing them very often.

What’s your workflow like? Do you do mostly traditional or digital art?

I’d estimate that at least 25% of my creative process is dedicated solely to coming up with an idea. Before the metaphorical pen ever meets metaphorical paper, I spend a significant amount of time seeking inspiration and gathering references. For example, if I wake up one day and decide to create a blowjob-themed piece, my first step is to open my PureRef board and run a quick image search for blowjob porn. From there, I start collecting anything that catches my eye—whether it’s an interesting pose, vibrant colors, dynamic lighting, or unique cum shapes. Once I’ve compiled a solid reference pool, I shift the focus to style, refining my search by adding “hentai” to see how other adult artists have approached the same subject. To wrap things up, I like to add artwork from artists I admire to the board for that extra little bit of inspiration.

Once I have an idea in mind, it’s onto the sketch. This is where sparks really start to fly! First up, is the blocking. The idea behind blocking is to just get ink onto the ‘paper’ as quickly as possible without worrying too much about how it looks! Accuracy is not the goal here; in fact I think, the rougher you can make it and still keep the idea, the better.

Once I get to a point where my blocking toolset is limiting the refining process, I switch tools and start filling in the details with my sketching toolset. At this stage, I can really start to feel out the finer details like facial expression, hair shape, what the hands are doing, accessory details like piercings or bondage gear, etc.

Once I’ve filled in the details, I have a huge decision to make: Do I just start filling in the color here and keep that sort of rough, sketchy look to the lines OR do I go over it one more time, filling in and refining the linework to get a super clean set to work from? I’ll admit, I usually choose the former, just because I loathe the process of inking. I personally think it’s the least creative part of the artistic process. BUT, I can’t argue with the results:

At this point, I turn off the green and fill the canvas with pure white, because now it’s time to add color! I probably follow the same sort of routines that most artists use for this stage, so I won’t go into every detail. If you really want to hear it, feel free to reach out and I’ll gladly talk your ear off about it!! To sum it up as quickly as possible, I apply flats to decide basic color, then start to add shape and volume. When I’m happy with those, I’ll add in environment lights and adjust the shadows and before I’m ready to call it finished, I add in the detail that really brings home the bacon: the highlights! Well, actually, sometimes, I finish up the piecs by adding in fluids or extra hair in all the nether regions, but still!! Highlights are usually last and definitely not least!!

Your work has a lot of fetish and BDSM elements. What inspires your work?

Hmm, that is a great question. I think it’s probably the same answer for any artist that’s not afraid to draw what they want; I’m inspired to draw the things I find sexy in real life. Not to say that there aren’t many other factors that influence how I’m inspired: a dynamic pose I’d like to take a whack at, a unique lighting setup I find attractive, or just next-level art that I can use to improve.

Most of it however, is just stuff I find sexy. I guess that can be a bit problematic as some of my art definitely brushes shoulders with the dreaded ‘non-con’ tag and I’m a firm believer that any advances on a person in real life without their consent is most assuredly, harassment. However, I believe that when it comes to the world of art and fiction, anything goes.

Another way I find inspiration is by imagining myself in the place of the subject I’m drawing (I’m a horny bastard with a well-functioning imagination). I’m not sure if this is common among artists in my field, but it’s definitely a key part of my creative process. Take the drawing above, for example—while developing the concept, I constantly imagined what it would be like to experience that situation firsthand. How would I feel if my naked breasts were on display for the world to see? Unable to do anything to cover myself and forced to listen to people’s reactions to my lewd form. Feeling every bump and jostle as I’m wheeled across the floor by whomever is holding my cramped prison. Enduring the sensation occurring as my naked flesh slides across the cool floor of what I assume to be a crowded terminal in an airport. How would I feel if that wasn’t even the end of my humiliation? What would it be like if someone came up and asked to wipe their dirty feet on my exposed breasts and moments later, did just that? Would I be able to tell what was on the bottom of their shoes? Would I feel the freshly spit out gum transfer from the shoe to my skin? How long would I be made to endure this torment?

With each brush stroke, my mind will work to uncover every detail to this made up fiction and eventually, I’ll arrive at a finished piece full of fetish and BDSM content!

Who are some of your artistic influences?

I have tons. Probably twenty or more to be honest. I have a very well-kept library of folders to house each artist I look up to, along with a link to their portfolios, as well as a few samples of their works.
HOWEVER! There are three legends that stand out and above the rest and have definitely inspired me since the beginning. They are as follows and in no particular order: InCase, The Sabu, and Calm

What kinds of unique challenges do you have as a NSFW artist?

The biggest challenge I face as an NSFW artist ties back to what I mentioned earlier—not all subjects are met with the same level of societal acceptance, and some are outright banned from being shown at all. It’s often a choice between drawing what truly inspires me and creating something more palatable for a broader audience. Finding that balance is a dance.

Another major challenge I face as an artist is finding the time to network and navigate social media. As much as I’d love to spend every day fully immersed in drawing and working on projects I’m passionate about, the reality is that without putting effort into sharing my work, connecting with others, and building an audience, very few people would ever see it. And without that visibility, turning my passion into a sustainable career wouldn’t be possible.

Do you have any big projects that you’re working on? What’s coming up next for you?

Actually, I just finished a collab project with another great artist I just started following. They go by Goat Daddy and you all should definitely check them out if you haven’t. After reaching out and gushing on them for a while, one thing led to another and we eventually decided to do a joint project in which we both finish each other’s drawings. They would provide the linework and I would provide the color and vice versa! Here are the sketches for each.

What’s the strangest source of inspiration you’ve ever had for your art?

Haha! Why this question?? Ohh god. Well, one immediately jumped into my mind and I’m trying to come up with excuses not to talk about it, so I guess it would be that one. [sigh] Big Bird.

To my defence, I’m pretty sure it was a shit post, or supposed to be! Also, I was at a time in my art career where I wanted to practice feathers and well… there you have it. Big Bird popped into my conscience as a source for material.

No, I’m not posting it. If you want to see it, you’ll have to dig it up from the grave on Twitter or Reddit. Just trust me, it was as bad as you’re thinking. Probably worse.

SexGazer is an artist and writer from Mexico. He’s been doing comics and illustrations since 2014. In 2020, when his regular clients put his projects on hiatus, he started his own comic series, “Dollhouse,” which went from his pandemic project, to his life’s project!

Interview

What is your art origin story? How did you get started? When did you start doing NSFW work?

Like every child I used to draw a lot, I just never stopped when I grew up. My early influences were mostly Warner cartoons like Batman: The Animated Series, Freakazoid, or The Animaniacs.

I liked to draw monsters and crazy characters on the back of my school notebooks. But the inflection point was when I stumbled upon the anime, especially Dragon Ball: the mix of action, adventure, and spicy comedy started something in me.

I learned how to draw hands, muscles, and women copying Toriyama’s style in Dragon Ball Z. I was like 10 years old when I realized how a not realistic drawing of a person can trigger sensual emotions, only with some curved lines, and of course an inviting personality.

And I must say that I started drawing naked ladies more young than I would like to admit. It’s the age when you sneak some porn magazines and if you have luck a dirty VHS videotape. But in my case, I have a naked Bulma drawing to share with my selected group of friends.

In my teenage years, I came across the work of European masters like Serpieri, Manara, Azpiri, the Heavy Metal magazine, you know, and then I realized that in the old world where artists could earn the life drawing what I liked most.

In Mexico, the comic industry was pretty dead by then (and still is), so being a comic artist was just a dream. I studied graphic design but I never stopped drawing so in my free time I started to develop a webcomic titled SexGazer about a hacker that blackmails girls to drag them to their perverted games.

It was 2013 when I created my Tumblr and HentaiFoundry profiles using as a nickname the comic title, and eventually Tracy Scops and Jaycee Knight discovered my work and were my first commissioners. I can’t believe that I was earning money drawing smut. The rest of you can imagine it: I just never stopped.

You do wonderful art! And doing great art in comics is even more difficult. What practice or philosophy helped level up your art the most?

Thanks! Well, I think drawing and writing is the only thing I can do. No lies.

I hated school, despite keeping good grades. I worked part-time jobs to pay for school (packing groceries at a supermarket, washing dishes at a restaurant, bartender assistant, selling burritos on the streets…) but I just hated every minute of that.

So, when the opportunity showed up I jumped into the boat. So that’s my philosophy: I wouldn’t want to do anything else (maybe music, since it’s my other passion), so I do 1000% in every drawing.

Please tell us about Dollhouse.

When the pandemic started, all my regular customers stopped their projects, and since I wanted to keep creating for my few but loyal Patrons, I resumed the SexGazer webcomic project that remained unconcluded due to my paid gigs.

From time to time some people asked me if I had plans to continue the SexGazer story, but as years passed, my style changed a lot and I decided to reboot the whole thing under a different name. I kept the main characters: Amber, Tob, G-Host (so-called SexGazer in the first version), Dalila, Lena, and of course, I created some new ones like the French busty MILF Ana Badeaux or the naughty and unpredictable Serena. And instead of a hacker blackmailing people, I turned them into a voyeur that keeps a secret sex club called DollHouse.

Dollhouse just hit 300 pages! That’s a great accomplishment! What do you have to do to create consistent quality work? Do you have any advice for other artists who want to be more consistent?

Yeah! Well, my tactic is to do one page at a time. If I had known that this comic would be so big, back in 2020, maybe I would have never started.

The first DollHouse draft was like 60 pages and the idea was to release an 8-12 page chapter per month. But sooner than later I realized that I rather quality over quantity, and since it’s a webcomic there’s no need to restrain the page number, so I made 5 or 6 pages per month.

So my advice is not to think about the big picture, it’s better to take baby steps at the beginning, but in a consistent way.

What is your art process like? What tools or apps do you use?

I use Procreate for sketching and then I continue on the PC, doing the line art, flats, and colors using Paint Tool Sai 2. I found the iPad great for sketching since it feels more “the old way” if that makes sense, but for the rest of the process, I get used to working with the keyboard and the Wacom which is nothing fancy: an Intuos CTL 4100.

I am not afraid of taking references from pictures, but I rather use 3d software to set the perfect pose and framing: Magic Poser for human figures and Sketch Up for buildings and backgrounds.

How can people find Dollhouse and support you the best?

You can find the first three chapters and other free comics on SEXGAZER.COM, Subscribe Star, and my Discord server. Since Patreon doesn’t allow releasing NSFW content publicly, you can grab the first four chapters in the store section.

Of course, you can find my comics pirated somewhere else, but I added some extra features after release like extra pages or sketches that are only on the official versions.

Let’s talk about the difficulties of finding a good platform to present NSFW work. What are your thoughts on Patreon and Gumroad?

I guess every NSFW artist is familiar with this. People think that we take the easy way by doing porn, but we live every day with the fear that our sites were nuked without previous notice.

Patreon and Gumroad are great but, as far as I know, they were pushed by the payment processors to cease working with NSFW creators. Gumroad just closed its doors and I lost an income that if was not great, at least meant extra bucks to pay the bills, especially when a new chapter was released.

On the other hand, Patreon keeps allowing adult content, but if they find content that could be problematic (like BDSM, or certain implications about nonconsensual interactions), the staff could shut down your page without previous notice.

I understand that there are people who push the limits of what it’s legal or not, but people need to understand that this is our work. Imagine being fired without knowing what exactly you did wrong and not having a chance to collect at least your last payment to survive a few weeks.

I love my work but the mental distress of losing everything is the worst part of it. But as I said, we blame the payment processors: I don’t understand the prudery of their policies.

How do you feel about social media for NSFW artists?

Same with the platforms: I understand that they need rules (I heard that Tumblr banned porn since there was illegal content), but there’s a lot of hypocrisy on their terms and algorithms. It could be great to have a safe space for adults where we can share art or information related to sex.

Note from Dirk: Tumblr did ban NSFW content for several years when they were sold to a big telecommunications company. Then when they were sold again they adjusted their TOS where they now allow adult content if you label it (much like BlueSky does now). Unfortunately, Tumblr never fully recovered from the ban.

You have your website built by FLAANation. Can you talk about that option and how it’s going?

They reached out to me just when I started DollHouse, so it was like a sign from fate that I was on the right path. Everything is going smoothly since I have been working with them, and having my site gives me some peace knowing that I don’t have all the eggs in the same basket for the previously mentioned disadvantages of being an NSFW creator.

I just wish that they had better marketing, I think there are a lot of people who are not aware of their existence, but they do the programming and process the payments, so every artist is responsible for their sales.

Please tell us about NunHouse.

DollHouse side projects have existed since I started with the series, but they were always in the comic format. Can’t recall why exactly, but I decided to make a visual novel, despite I know nothing about programming.

It is not a big deal though using RenPy; at least on the basics. I’m not doing something fancy, following my philosophy of going one step at a time. It’s a great opportunity to explore interactive stories. Also, I’m learning animation and I’ll be making some music themes: I’m not a programmer, animator, or musician but I’m doing it anyway.

The story follows a slutty Amber who will seek salvation in the NunHouse, but the Devil prowls at night and will seek to lead her down the path of perdition. The first playable demo is already available for Mac and Windows and I hope to finish the first chapter this year if everything goes well I would like to hire a programmer to make a bigger story with better interactive features. By now I’m a one-man army.

What project would you like to do in the future?

I would like to create some animated shorts featuring my characters. I just started practicing animation the past year, doing simple loops on Procreate. I want DollHouse to become a transmedia project, with animation, games, music, and stories but for now, I’ll focus on the comic series.

These photos were taken about a week ago near downtown Oklahoma City in an old house that has been wonderfully renovated. We spent about about 12 hours taking photos and videos at that cool house (the videos have already been worked and you’ll have to go to Atalacia to see those… they are HOT)!

This is the second time I’ve worked with Atalacia and I’m going to say simply that she’s already one of the best models I’ve worked with. It took us no time to get comfortable shooting together and she brings a lot of energy and creativity to a shoot. She moves like the best models I’ve worked with, in fact, I got a pose with her that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.

Obviously, she’s gorgeous too, and she wants to work together a lot in the coming months. So, if you enjoy these photos check back often.
