HIII!! so.....whats been going on?? (as she tries to pretend like she hasnt been a horribly absent friend) this has been a busy summer, i have gotten more done these past few months than the past three years put together i think. just getting my house put to rights and then keeping up with everything. i am not an orderly person so it takes a lot of practice for me to get into good housekeeping habits. i LIKE doing stuff around the house, i just needed to get used to the fact that housekeeping isnt something you do only once...lol.

here are some pictures from this summer:)

this pic was after it sun stormed. do you see the double rainbow? i know the poles are in the way, everyone here has em' this close to their homes.

i went to California this summer!! it was the first week of September so i pretended that the whole trip was specifically designed to cater to my birthday...which wasnt until the middle of September...

this pic is from mimis cafe, DO NOT order their version of vegetable side dishes..8 pieces of broccoli and a few carrots is pathetic....and that was a double order...BUT look at this picture (of a picture:) closely...this weirdo is stuffing a giant duck(ok its really a live swan) into a car!!!

uh huh, uh huh...not seeing any resemblance...

this is monster:) i found her running around San Diego seven years ago covered in fleas,with a bad haircut....which is the worst travesty you can inflict on a dog that thinks shes a purebred...something....anyway my parents are in love with her now:)

this is in my parents back yard...practically a vineyard!!

then we went to my grandmas house...

i made(all vegan) gluten free cranberry muffins, reg blackberry muffins, GF brownies, two GF apple crisp pies, two layer vanilla cake...and...i think thats it? oh and some dark chocolate mint bark for my grandma. she is GF so i made lots of things that she could freeze. that vanilla cake looks a mess but omgosh was it good! the best part was that everyone ate all of my stuff and nobody was worried about it being vegan! i did have a vegan police moment that im not to proud of...i was about to cut the cake (after i insisted everyone sing happy birthday to me) and my aunt was all " ill go see if we have ice cream" and im all...."no! no! its all vegan it'll ruin my all vegan birthday desserts!! " so.. you know i was trying to make a joke out of it...but i was serious. no ice cream for you!

then the next day we went to this Mexican restaraunt that had a special VEGAN section!! it was really neat!my Uncle had been there before and saw that section on the menu and so he brought us all there. my food was one of the best looking plates the waiter brought out!! the fajita skillet is kinda blending in to the background in this pic.

this is also in my parents back yard. a fig tree!!! the thing is HUGE. it used to be to my hip, it grows like a monster. everyday i got to go out to their yard and pick my breakfast. two kinds of grapes, figs, and apples!

oh and we got a scooty!!! we have driven over 700 miles already on it, and its only been a bit over a month! stomper surprised me one day asking if i wanted to go to the next town over and get a scooter....my makeup was tragic that day i was in such a rush,hahaha.(hes changing the oil with ginger pup helping:))

whew, thats a mish mash of pictures!! hope everyone had a great summer!! i love the fall!!

i was so happy to read this article. it cleared up all confusion about vitamin B12. i will never be able to articulate what this doctor so elegantly wrote, but i am better prepared for any questions i get on my vegan diet.

vit b12 is made from bacteria and we used to get enough just by eating foods that came from the earth. now, with everything so sterile (not complaining:)) we dont get the trace amounts that we used too. i just read this article on choosing raw it was really good! i hope he will do more Q&A about other vitamins that vegans often have questions about!

i got so out of blogging. first my parents came and then i helped out my friend who is a pet sitter. i was busy pet sitting from before nine to after nine on some days. ginger didnt get dragged for her walks all week, and i drove the equivalent of CA and back...at least!!lol.but its ~~all~~ mostly is back to normal now. also, when all that trouble with blogger was going on, it was really getting on my nerves. youd write a whole comment and not be able to post it, is all that fixed yet????

lately i have been trying to really reduce the amount of "stuff" that i have. its crazy what commercials and ads will make you think you need!! i fell head first into all of it, im the worst at thinking i need something that i dont. i have gotten rid of bout 1/3 of my clothes so far. do you ever buy stuff and not wear it/use it because you want to save it for a special occasion? i mean, i dont want to be using nice stuff while im cleaning up after animals you know? but having something go out of style in the back of my closet...with the tags still on...is going a bit far!

Lillians foot got hurt earlier this week, so she probably wont be going to the lake to watch fireworks and swim like she did last year. its back into a bucket for her. at least for the time being:)

any plans for the fourth?

how have you all been? i have a lot to catch up on in your lives and i miss you.

im sorry i left so abruptly. ive also been working on some personal issue type things.trying to kick some OCD habits that have been plaguing me for way to long. hows that going you ask? ocds getting a beating.

ten years vegan!!

and i almost missed it! you know how i told you awhile back 'bout how i took spanish 1 twice..and failed twice...weeeeell..i thought "cinco" was six until i used my fingers to count....so...

happy cinco de mayo:)

im so excited that today marks ten years of not purposefully contributing to the cruelty of the meaty,dairy,bee,silk,leather,and wool industry!!

what id like to do is write a few of things that i have done on accident or without thinking it through. because ten years might seem daunting to some new vegans. and it shouldnt because we all make mistakes and i have made QUITE a few really really REALLY dumb ones!!

(at this point i was a four year vegan) a few years ago i was at a ladies house to get a bunny(hers had babies) and outside she had free range chickens and i saw some eggs dotting the nest boxes. since i am against the way that factory farms force chickens to lay eggs in such horrible conditions, this to me was an ideal situation. we took a few home. i thought that all "free range" eggs came from places like that. i was wrong. after buying a couple (maybe three) cartons of eggs later, it still felt wrong somehow. and it was.buying free range eggs is still supporting the meat and egg industry. how? only females can lay eggs. only 50% of chickens that are born are female. the boy chicks are disposed of. needless to say i felt sick, and have regretted that ever since.

another instance, was buying shirts or clothing that were made of silk.i have dont this only once that i know of but still felt pretty bad. i mean if something is on clearance you wouldnt think it was made of silk darn it!

for nine years i have eaten white sugar. some vegans say that this is not a vegan food. some think thats going to far. i always felt guilty eating sugar but i did. i thought that taking sugar out of my diet would be just to much. id be even "weirder" now i dont care.(if people think its weird:))

ive eaten cookies that i thought were vegan, only to be mindlessly reading the label and shocked to find that they changed the recipe:) cookie crumbs spewed everywhere:)

another thing that i feel strongly about. not being grossed out by meat or dairy(stay with me for this one). i no longer freak out if i have to to touch(in a package) meaty things (i help bag at the grocery store) i have a different attitude now. i want to treat that animal body with respect. it isnt its fault that its dead. and to treat it like its icky/gross/disgusting? no thats wrong also.you know what i mean? like i shouldnt be like. flicking it away or have a sour look on my face. its sad, not gross.

thats just MY opinion:) but for some reason i think im gonna get some bad backlash...give it ta me, ill find out where you live.

anyway, ten years is a long time so im going to go celebrate! love to hear if anybody else has made ny mistakes...im figuring you cant top my egg one....

oh thats me...

i just got this from Maud at food fued i always enjoy hearing about what other people eat and i dont share to much about what i eat on here:) so here goes!

1. What is the most extravagant food item you've purchased of late? just tonight i bought agave syrup and miso, both pretty expensive. i love miso since it is such a strong flavor and low in calories. agave because its...well..really good:) tonight i made a salad dressing out of miso (1ts), some cashew butter(1 ts) i had made in my blender, agave (1 ts), some rice vin (maybe 2 tbs) grainy mustard(about 1 or 2 tbs and some nutritional yeast(1/4 cup?) and some water to make it the consistency you like. it was enough for about 3 big salads. normally i use stevia instead of agave, but tonight i tried something new:) actually i normally dont use cashew butter either....ok i think im dont answering this question....lol

2. What was your favorite meal growing up?
i loved when we would make our own huge salads from the "salad bar" my mom would make or the "taco bar" my mom would set up:)

3. What food item do you most wish you could expertly make every time? corn bread, im getting close to what the jiffy kind tastes like. but i want it exactly so i can make it for stomper so he will stop buying eggs and milk and jiffy, for just one meal!!(he is pretty picky..so its a harder than just making vegan cornbread.

4. Do you have a favorite dish you've ordered at a restaurant? Which restaurant? i like broccoli...in any type of (vegan)sauce:)

5. What do you eat that makes you feel healthiest? huh...its more like what i dont eat. i dont feel good if i eat to much heavy/junk foods. taking it easy on white flour products is what makes me feel the best. once you kick the "white food" habit its really easy(er pretty easy) to stay away.

6. What was the first cookbook you obtained? "i cant believe its tofu" when i first moved to back to CA i hung out with one of my brothers old friends (the funniest guy in the world!!) and he had lots of vegan friends and he took me shopping and showed me that tons of store brand cookies were actually vegan!!!!(if you eat white sugar) and when we went back to his parents house his mom gave me a copy of a book she had bought for when some of his vegan friends came over:) and thats how i got my tofu book:)

7. What is the oddest meal you've ever cobbled together? well, i add everything to my salads, so probably every single meal i eat is odd...i do remember when i was a baby vegan i ordered three different types of potato at dennys..without realizing it until i got the plate...it was a sea of brown...

8. Best sandwich concoction? EDS DELI!!!!!!!shredded lettuce,quac,tomato,onion,oregano,olives.... piggy likes it too...grrr i cant find the post but she got my sandwich off the couch and it looked like a lettuce patch exploded! it was awful seeing my beautiful eds deli being abused like that!!

9. Quick! What is the last food you just ate? salad:) with a piece of enchilada bake on top:)

10. Describe your usual breakfast scenario. What, when, where, why...ok i get up, drink a glass of water, try to wait a few min before i start on something else...dont make it and eat fruit. ill eat in the kitchen or in stompers office watching tv. or ill make a smoothie and drink that while snuggling a piggy and watching tv.piggy, as soon as she is done looking around the house for missed food...is ready to take a snuggle nap.

11. What, if anything, would you like to change about your diet? id like to stop eating so much at night. thats my biggest problem!!

stomper told me he had a surprise in mind, but wouldnt tell me what it was for a week and a half! then yesterday(mon) we decided to go to the lake with lilly(lover duckling). on the way there he said he needed something from kmart. so i waited with lilly in the truck. i spied him on the way back with a huge box in his hands! big boxes = always something fun!! its a HUGE blow up boat!!!..well big enough for the three of us to cram into at least:)

ok how cute is this pic? he blew up the entire thing while lilly and i played int the water.

ugh i think that people with kids would relate to this story. the current was really strong that day and lilly isnt the most...water savvy..so she kept going further and further down the river. she is always crashing other peoples parties and usually they dont mind and want to pet her. well this family had a kid that wanted to bash her with a beach purse. so i swooped in and carried her off (no "huff" involved...). anyway the parents just stared numbly at her...ok so whatever. not everybody appreciates my little angel..but my little "angel" must have some ~~screws~~ feathers loose because when i brought her back to our towel she RAN right back to where that family was...i felt so dumb...hahah at least they were packing up..it just looked like i was some sort of weirdo..i mean...i know im not..it just LOOKED like it....

here is another video but in this one she is swimming around the "boat" later on i scooped her out of the water and settled her on the edge of the ..vessel...she got her sea legs pretty quickly..ok ok enough poser talk about nautical stuff:)

Day 18 - A picture of your favorite place. just in case anybody thinks of sending me more candy bars like Shen did awhile back...i have placed this chicken in front of our address plate. my home is probably my fav place to be, how sad....

stomper and i celebrated our six year anniversary for three days. we got engaged on the 16th, drove to las vegas on the 17th and got married that night at midnight(the 18th)...i literally chose the 18th to be put on our marriage certificate so we could celebrate for three whole days...this girl knows how to think ahead.

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate. i kinda hate it when people stop improving themselves, and then think that everyone has to appreciate them for doing absolutely nothing to deserve it. most of the time the people that say this the loudest are...well...not my fav...how can you enjoy somebody that is completely narcissistic?

my parents might be coming here in May!! also coming up is stompers and my (I?) six year anniversary. oh AND another anniversary is coming. cinco de mayo is my ten years vegan mark! gotta celebrate that!does anybody else like the "Earths Children" books? i didnt know that a fifth and sixths had come out, so ive been busy reading and catching up. also i started running...a slow, labored, hard to watch, lumbering gate that i loosely call "running". now that i have my sweet inhaler i can go more than a quarter mile without feeling like im going to bust a lung. ttysoon!!

AND Jenny from vegan and so forth knew what that tool was!! i got that tool from my grandmas kitchen, she gave me a TON of kitchen stuff which i really needed. at the time i had no idea what it was, but of course i knew not to leave it behind just because of my ignorance:) while i was ~~looking for old cookie cutters in the shape of ducks~~.....antiquing.....i saw a few of the same tool that i had at home. then finally on one of the price tags was written what the thing actually WAS. it said that it was a coffee cake cutter! then Rebecca and i were talking and we figured out that its technically am angel food cake cutter. the only cake that hasnt been successfully veganized yet...i was dismayed.

a little info on the straws...i had always thought that the glass straws that are really popular now were pretty cool, but...breakable (themselves and a threat to my grill) and kinda expensive..AND hard to clean. you needed to buy a special brush to clean them!! so when i saw these industrial strength aluminum straws, that were PINK(!) i was pretty excited. i bought a pink one and then stomper and i were about to drive away when he handed me the atm card and told my to go back and get a few more. i had been chattering about how much my friends on blogger would want one also! so...if you havent entered its really easy...just leave a comment saying you want one.you wont be disappointed...nobody is a loser in dirty duck land....not if my friend Rebecca has anything to do with it!! details tomorrow:)

this is my true self.... a percentage of the time...the rest of the time im doing something even weirder or being mean etc.

slightly different than my header. these were taken a few years ago at the community pool where we used to live. im sure nobody minded that my duck swam in the pool.....

there was this one summer night when there was a whole pack of kids swimming at night and lilly was there in the thick of it! diving down and then popping straight up right in front of one of the startled kids. it was one of the best nights of my life to see that. i just kept thinking that if i were younger id love swimming with a duck! all the kids were really good with her and after awhile, they just took her in stride, like "yea we are swimming with a duck, no big deal" i love how accepting kids can be:)

i actually loaded these today...well, stomper did for me...and so i thought id go a bit further and post a few:) here is some cornbread i made with gravy (leftover from a veggie bake) it was so hard to stick to my normal 85%+ raw food diet with those two things in the house!

ok a few years ago there was this show called flavor of love, stomper and i were obsessed! they would have these girls that were trying to get with "flavor flav" (a rapper) it was so funny how the producers would edit what the girls would do and say:)

day two and a short "imposta-mix" review

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

i have a feeling my mom is going to pop up a lot in the thirty day challenge..because i have been close with her the longest. but non-family member would be kelly, my best friend in New Jersey.

loyalty is one of the most admirable qualities a person can have...and shes got it! even when i didnt deserve to be backed up by her, she did. she also taught me that the world didnt owe me anything and that i had to be nice to people. her way is much better!!thanks Kelly, you dont know how much you helped me.

ok on to the blender review. i ended up getting the ninja blender (the imposta-mix). i ordered it from walmart.com because i had a gift certificate:) so that helped a little. i think it is 95 dollars? plus eight for tax, even though buying online is supposed to be tax free...anyway, shipping to walmart was free, or i had the option of having it sent directly to me(for a charge), but im not about to give up a chance at going to the store, ANY store! i really like it so far! 1000 watts of power is nothing to laugh at and i would suggest this blender to anybody that cannot get a vita or blendtec right now. i also looked into a few other brands that somebody suggested, unfortunately, i got the suggestions right after i had ordered the ninja darn it!

as i was reading reviews for the ninja, i came across a few negatives, such as, "the blades are so sharp i cut myself on them, this is an unsafe machine and should be taken off the market" TOO sharp? should be taken off the market? were you..dropped on your head?

another was something about the top plastic piece wearing out, but its easily fixed and i only read one or two people saying anything about that. and now knowing what they are talking about, i know that they were just using it incorrectly (you need to line up the blade to the lid....)

anyway, it makes smoothies in less than ten seconds, so im very happy with it!!

you would think that too if your mom gave you home haircuts..especially the kind that "keeps the hair off your face" ie..a mini mullet. another thing that didnt help? i thought i was a boy scout for awhile. you would too if you participated in all their activities(oblivious to anybodies annoyance).

ive been thinking of participating in this 30 day blogging challenge that i saw on my friend Rebeccas blog. each day for thirty days you post something. i didnt want to fill up your dashboard and make you feel like you needed to comment, but you KNOW that, im just being OCD.so i think i will TRY to do it:) the first day you tell ten things about yourself, ive already got two down...hey having a mullet is finally working for me !

instead of carrying around a "baby" i carried around a rubber lizard (iggyliz) carefully wrapped up in a quilt.
im using dots instead of numbers to hopefully trick you into thinking i actually have ten...
this past week i laid in bleach (i was laying down with sick piggy). i didnt notice til i had burned up my leg, cute shorts and a tee-shirt. (i had cleaned up some piggy puke and the bleach wasnt fully mopped up)
i pretend to be grossed out when Aloha (aka "binky" the military macaw) regurgitates food for me
the sweetest thing a boy has ever done for me was...regurgitate food for me....
someday i want a house that i can put a fence around so my (as of right now imaginary) horse can stick his head in all the windows.
i went to traffic school three times in one year, and still failed the test that they give you at the end.
i took Spanish 1 in HS....twice....

im an excellent driver
i also consider myself fluent in Spanish

***update***:::(fri morning)she went potty(pee)!!! all you animal lovers will get how exciting that is after four almost five LOOONG days of nothing!she is still lethargic but making more oinking noises. we think her throat was so raw from throwing up that she just got super dehydrated and went down hill from that fast. ill keep pumping water into the little thing and let you all know!!*

***another update(fri night) she is a pooping, peeing,eating, sleeping comfy MACHINE!! cant say we are out of the woods yet, but she is SO much better!!! YYEEEESSS!!****

unfortunately she hasnt been feeling well for the past three, well, ..now four days. she threw up the first 24 hours (four times) hasnt eaten since then. she was drinking, but stopped yesterday. thats when we took her to the vet. she has normal temps and is still pooping but not peeing(im giving this info in case anybody has any ideas of whats wrong with her) she is being force fed juice and blended up pig food.

the vet gave her an anti-nausea shot and pills for me to give her. also antibiotics and pepcid. this treatment is for if she has an infection, ate something bad(like the last time she got sick), OR has an ulcer. three in one. if this doesnt work she will need to be checked for blockages with an x-ray and some other tests. right now she is just laying down. she hasnt gotten up all day. she did have to go to the vets twice (we went home while the vet waited to confer with some people from a university program)

send prayers and ANY ideas of what might be wrong.

my camera broke awhile back and my husband surprised me(on the 8th?) with a new one! he told me that when he saw the reviews about it, it said it was good for people with kids and pets... he knew that was the one:) even though we try not to call them pets, they are fatheads that decide to chill with us:) AND its pink! AND its waterproof!! literally! people take it scuba diving! ill be taking pictures of lilly swimming...FROM UNDERNEATH!!!

so the other good news is that my blender just started to smoke! saweet!the upgraded camera was a totally unexpected surprise...now ill just kick back and wait for an "unexpected" vita mix to get here.......

i might be waiting for a loooong time....anyone have one to sell....?

it has 1000 watts of power, better than a reg blender but not AS high powered as a vita or blend-tec.if anybody has one or knows somebody that does, id really like to hear your opinion.

thank you so much for commenting on that last post! they were all hilarious! seriously! omgosh i was dying! cant wait to get back to them. i think i havent been feeling as social this last week, so thats why i havent written back yet, hopefully that will turn around quick!! anybody else get like that?

a few days ago i got my my mystery swappers gift! PLUS the sweetest card ever with little animal stickers on it. AND she got my name right:) " michelle CALIFORNIA whitney ":) lol. (one day ill get that legally changed!) Thank you so much Laloofah!

its called a "book thong", which really "tickled" our latent five year old selves:)

Laloofah knows that i like animals and live in the desert, so she incorporated both into this piece of art. you cant see it but the long bead has a llama painted on it and one of the stones is real turquoise!. i immediately tied put it on as an anklet. what else would i do with a bookmark?

the string is made from hemp, which again, made us giggle like the unsophisticated adolescents that we really are.

on a sad note, these were the last pictures my camera took before taking the big dirt nap....stomper is valiantly giving CPR (trying to find replacement parts) but...im losing hope. already i have missed taking photos of our hot tubs giant leak,cookies i made and sent to my brother, and taking a bath with piggy(it was adorable, i held her in the hot water and she almost fell asleep with her little stump legs floating in the water).

i cant tell my mom because they gave me a camera the same year stomper did and i sent that to a lady (that needed it to post pictures) that ran a bird sanctuary in Seattle. excellent... im not telling my parents about this post...lol.ttysoon!
