Is freedom of the press in trouble in America, we are so quick to judge other countries for silencing their citizens but we are starting to silence our journalists for the sake of security. Snowden Hero or Traitor

Edward Snowden is in big trouble with the federal government for leaking classified information to a journalist about the NSA keeping phone records of Americans. Now would you consider him a hero or a traitor, many law makers consider him a traitor but, the ACLU considers him a hero. I understand that both sides have a reason for why we should or should not keep this program. The reason to keep the program is to make sure that we keep the United States safe from those who seek to harm us. The reason we should not keep is because its not American to spy on Americans, the forefathers created the the constitution to protect Americans from big government.

True Government Overreach

The senate needs to stop blocking Presidents Obamas judicial appointees. Judges are not supposed to be political, they just follow the law. So it makes no sense to block a nominee because he or she was nominated by the President. Obamacare is getting ready to take the nation by storm and insurance companies are releasing the first rates of the insurance exchange. We are starting to see that some of those insurance companies are starting to bring the rates down, so that means Obama was right. My state of Texas is refusing to give into the medicaid expansion plan and so many poor Americans are going to pay the price. Without offering an alternative and playing politics, our Governor Rick Perry has shown that he would rather let poor Texans suffer than let the federal government in.

I have to give it to the Republicans they have the propaganda and the money to label unemployed Americans as lazy. When Aaron Swartz broke a law that in my opinion should have been a misdemeanor the justice department threw the book at him by over-prosecuting with 13 felonies. President Obama faced three scandals last week, but it really didn't affect his positive polling. That is because the economy is looking much better. The unemployment rate went down and the stock market is at all time highs. So he has to make sure he stays on the economy, brings down the deficit, and make sure that laws are created to protect journalists. The press is not happy with President Obama right now. His justice department crossed the line when they started looking for a leak in the press. Its started with the AP getting mad at the justice department for going through its phone records without consent and now a fox news journalist. I do agree with the press when it comes to the federal government just barging in demanding answers without a warrant. There is a fine line between national security and our constitutional rights, freedom of the press is there for a reason, to hold the government accountable for its actions. That goes for Democrat or Republican administrations. So if President Obama is serious about constitutional rights and wants to get his credibility back with the press he needs to pass the Journalist Shield Law.

Ever since the state department started tapping AP Journalists phones, the AP has lost a lot of credibility with a lot of potential sources. That is why the Journalist Shield law needs to be reintroduced in congress because news organizations are not going to have leads. I understand they tapped the phones to find a leaks but are seriously going to give up our civil liberties for national security. I think we all have to put this saying in our mind "all we have to fear is fear itself" by Franklin D. Roosevelt.

American young people are pressured to go college and make something out of themselves, by teachers, mom and dads, and society itself. But what many of those people don't understand is that going to school is not same anymore. Student loans and the interest it takes in enslave young people to have to worry about that debt. What good is a college degree without a job and no job means no growth to this economy. Any loan company that that profits from a student and any for profit school that gets more money from that same student for a major that really doesn't make money should be ashamed of itself.
