The fireplace works fine in it's most important aspect: generating heat. It has a stylish, very contemporary design. The glass front is thick and smooth and you don't need to worry about cracking it. The blue backlit display turns off after a few seconds which is nice. Great remote that supports all functions. There are a few annoyances that were weighing too heavily for us and made me return it, though: First, since the unit is only a few inches deep and it is either wall-mounted or on the stand there is no easy way to hide the cord, which really spoils the appearance. The fan is a little noisy and keeps on running even when the heat is turned off, probably to cool the two lamps and to generate the light effect. The "crackling wood" sound effect sounds hollow and thin but can thankfully be turned off. Finally, the light effect is not realistic at all, just a waving background.

If you don't mind these annoyances, it is a good product.

Even though it doesn't look like a tradtional fireplace, I still like it. It fits just about anywhere without taking up a lot of space. I don't like that it doesn't have life like flames; it's just a glowing, moving background. I bought it mainly because it has a REMOTE CONTROL!!! That is a wonderful feature! It has three stages of glowing brightness, which is great. I don't like the sound that is supposed to be crackling wood, but when I lower the sound, it sounds better and more like a crackling fireplace. It's easy enough to carry up to the bedroom, den, basement, wherever you want to put it. Just plug it into any outlet; but because it's 1500 wats,you mustn't have anything else plugged into the same socket outlet. I would recommend it to anyone.
I never write reviews, so you know I must like this product. Enjoy!

I bought 2 of these around christmas time. One for me and one for a gift. The shipping was free and came in a timely manner. when I recieved them they both had specks inside the glass. I assume it was fragments from the fake log. That rattled loose during shipping. Never the less you can't get them out. Now there is slight discoloration under the glass on the red back ground. Also make sure you use the short screws to attach the base. The directions make it look like you use the long ones. If you hang it on the wall. It's a pain to take it down, and then attach it to the base. So i'ts really one or the other. As far as being a good heater it is. When i'ts in the teens it helps the furnace from coming on every 10 minutes! I've used it every day for a month now and my electric bill has went up 50.00. So if I would have turned up my furnace to stay that warm. My gas bill would have been alot more than that! So for sure buy one! They give off good heat, and the ambiance is cool too! Also... This could be a very good heater option for some people, if the features fit what you need.

It takes up relatively little floor space, and the pedestal design puts the heater up a little higher, if that suits your needs. (A regular tower heater might be fine for lots of people, though.)

It's 30 tall" and the base is a 12" circle. The top part is about 7.5" wide at the top (the widest part).

Pros:
- High 1500W (5118 BTU) and low 900W (3070 BTU) settings. And two fan speeds to go with that - the fans runs more slowly and quieter on low - which is a feature that's missing on many heaters for some inexplicable reason.
- Quiet for a heater with a fan, especially on the low setting. (But that can't be used with the auto thermostat setting, see below!)
- Well built, and well packed.
- The light weight and convenient handle, at the top of the back, make it easy to carry and move around.

This heater works great! Now I have to give a little disclaimer: I don't have much experience with many different brands or types of space heaters. I do know however that this space heater kept a 20'x25' room at 85 degrees no problem. I should mention that one of the walls in this room is almost entirely windows (which lose heat quickly).

Pros:
-Comes with remote
-Is quiet (It sounds like a fan on a low setting)
-Heats well
-Space efficient (takes up little room)
-Very lightweight with handle (easy transport)
-Won't start a fire! (I touched the face of it and held my hand to it on high setting, it is warm but not painfully hot. The entire rest of the unit stays so cool it is amazing!)

Cons:
-Control Panel is only visible from almost directly in front (I thought there was something wrong at first because I couldn't make out anything on it)

I've owned this product for nearly a year and was compelled to write this review when I picked up a second space heater (Bionaire tower) with similar features but which was rediculously loud. I use this heater in my son's room and on my RV to supliment the furnaces and it does a great job heating. Surface area of the blower is quite large and the heat nicely distributed accross it which keeps the blower noise down and the grill relitavely cool. Marked it down from 5 stars due to the thermometer running a degree or two too high (yes I am picky)

This is the second Delonghi oil heater that I purchased through Amazon & I am completely satisfied with both of them. (I also purchased the Delonghi HM25E Dragon Ultimate Oil Filled Radiator Heater purchased in 2005, twice the cost, twice the heater.)
I like the size of this smaller one a little more -- it fits better into the small space where I am using it. We use it in a 10' x 10' main bathroom. The room is not insulated (85 year old home) and gets almost no heat from the home's central heating system (radiated water heat).
I have used it every day this winter and found that it is more than adequate for this room, even on the coldest winter days. The temperature recently has dropped to -5 F overnight (Chicago) and I have the heater set on high to turn on 60-90 minutes before I get up. The bathroom is always nice and toasty in the AM, even though the exterior wall is cold to the touch.

Bought two of these last year and really like them. They are only 15" high (21" long) flat saucer feet for good stabliity,and no sharp metal edges for the kids to hit their heads on.

The Timing and temperature dials are easy to use. We used them last year when natural gas was so expensive. They did such a good job keeping the kids rooms at a consistant temperature at night that we plan to use them this year too. It worked out much better than using the house thermostat at night.

Take the heater to a room that you can close the door to and will not use for the next 24 hours- spare bedroom, bath, or garage. Before you plug it in- push all the red pins on the timer dial toward the center. This will prevent the heater from going on and off during your testing. You can program it later. Plug the cord in. Click both red switches to on and they will light up. Each switch controls a separate heating coil. If they do not light up, go to the black box on the power cord and press the red button. If you now have both switches light up, you have just solved the problems of over half who have written reviews saying the heater did not work. Rotate the temperature dial to the highest setting. Run the heater for 3 hours. There should be a lot of heat coming off the unit. If both switches are still red, the heater is working. You will smell the burn off but it is over at this point. I love this little heater! I bought this to help heat my trailer. It does such a great job that my furnace has hardly kicked on, even on the 32 degree and below nights we have already had! I really like how you can set the temperature and the heater actually seems to run and heat according to the actual room temp, not the heaters temp or the immediate areas temp. When I was out looking at heaters, a Lowe's employee told me that the thermostat is on the top of the heater so the closer to the floor you can place it the more accurate the heater's thermostat will read, so therefore the heater will run more accurately. I have mine set about 18" off the floor at one end of a 450sq. ft area. My thermostat is across the room and reads fairly close to what I have the heater set for!!!
I also bought this for the safety features. The outside stays cool and if it tips over it shuts off. I have a curious 1 year old so these features were very important to me. It also has a slim design so it... Read more

I bought this heater at Wal-Mart for $40.00 so Amazon's price is higher plus it doesn't include taxes and shipping. The unit itself is wonderful. I have a 15x14 bedroom and it gets my room up to 80 degrees in no time. It's not extremely quiet but it's not so loud that it drowns out the TV. I love the fact you can tell what temperature it is in the room right on the heater and that it swivels back and forth on it's own. The feature that was most important to me is that the front face/grill of it wouldn't be hot to the touch and no matter what the temperature it stays cool. So I don't have to worry about anyone getting burned or it tipping over on something and burning the house down.

I bought another heater (smaller) for my office cubicle and that one's going back because it throws heat but only in one direction and the front/grill gets hot. For it to be effective it would have to sit on my desk and that's not possible. So, I'll just pick-up another Honeywell. I... Read more

The product description says "On-demand heat with thermostat control". It has a switch for high and low heat but no thermostat other than according to the manual if it overheats it will turn the heater off and wont come back one without being reset by switching off and on again. So this was disappointing and the product description should really be revised.

When I first turned it on it made a clunk clunk noise so I turned it off and took off the back panel and found the thing that rotates had fallen out of one of it's mounts. It was easy to put back in the mount and after that it works fine and quiet.

It's nice and small so can be moved from room to room.

Flames look pretty good and heater also seems effective for a small room.

I bought the Dimplex because I all ready own a larger model, that is five years old,and has worked great from the start. It was $99.00 back then. I wanted to buy another one, but then all of a sudden the prices went crazy, a similar Dimplex to the orignal one was going for $300. So in the mean time I bought a small Duraflame model.Big dissappointment. Sounded like a hair dryer when you turned on the heat and the flame motor by itself was noisy. I immediately wanted the quiet flame and heater of a Dimplex model.
This Dimplex compact model is a good size for this 130 year old farmhouse.I all ready tested the flame and heat, no noise at all.So now I have two Dimplex models. Both are centerpieces, one for the living room and one for the family room.

My first try was a Bionaire Digital Tower Ceramic Heater. It went right back to the store the moment I realized how powerful (read : noisy) the fan inside was. It did do a decent job warming up the room though.

I knew I'd like something quiet. Real quiet. My next try was an Oil Filled Radiator. It was much quieter - just low clicking sounds (probably from the metal or oil expanding?) - but failed to impress on heating. We bought this model from Costco in October, 2006 and used it for about two years, with pretty much continual usage from October to May. It's quiet and puts out enough heat for a large room. It stopped working after two years. I noticed that it was still under warranty so I contacted (emailed) customer service at Bionaire. They were very cooperative and sent us a new unit at no charge.

I disassembled the older unit and it seemed well built. I found that the on off switch was broken. This is a "snap in" plastic switch and if you are careful you can pry it out of the faceplate with a small screwdriver or knife. For those of you who may have a similar problem the switch is a round, illuminated SPST rocker type and it's made by a factory in China under the brand name RLEIL model RL3-5. I find that part extremely valuable. Anyway back to my thoughts on the Bionaire BH3950-U Silent Micathermic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat. Keep in mind I only had this heater for a few days. First thing is that shipping was incredibly fast. I selected Super Saver shipping which knocked out the shipping charge and I was expecting it to arrive a bit slower than regular shipping but to my surprise I received the heater in 2 days. I was not expecting that at all. There is a bit of assembly required with this heater but trust me, it is minimal. You'll just have to attach a set of wheels, a set of foot pegs and then the handle. This is my first oil heater, I have used spot heaters in the past. This oil heater is great because once it warms up (just a few minutes), it puts out a nice amout of radiant heat on high setting. You can feel the heat from the top of the unit when you put your hand over the top.

I feel safe leaving it on at night unlike the spot heaters. I didn't notice the strong odor on like others have posted.

Pros:
-Well built
-Seems safe to leave on at night
-Black color looks nice
-Has Low, Med, High and a maintain comfort setting

Cons:
-Thermostat goes from 1 to 6 instead of actual temperature.
-Wheels don't roll well on carpet
-Handle is only on one side, so have to wait until total cool to carry it upstairs.
-Wasn't the best packaging to ship with

I purchased the DeLonghi heater instead of another brand because I have for many years associated that name with the oil radiator type of heater. The one I purchased, the EW7707CB works well but has a couple of what I would call "design flaws" that would prevent me from purchasing another one. One of the flaws is that if you press the energy-saver button while the heater is hot, it is natural to use your free hand to hold the back end of the heater as you press the button on the front end. Well, the back end of the heater is hot at some points during use. The other feature that I have found not so helpful, is that when you turn the dial from * to 1 to 2, etc., to set the heat level, it is not easy to see the number. I have to put on glasses and use a flashlight in order to see what number I am turning to. This is not a big deal, but it is enough to keep me from ordering another one. Heater is being used as a supplementary heater in a finished/insulated basement about 1000 sq/ft. Have only had the heater for a week and a half and the "comfort temp" is at least 70*. I have a thermometer on order to place in the basement to see how warm it is, but it keeps the entire finished area in my basement warm. Winter has not come yet, so we will see once it gets cold out, like highs in the single digits and sub zero temps. I'm in WI, so its only gotten down to 30* or so at night and close to 50* during the days. Have not had to turn on furnace yet, temps have gone down outside and with heater in the basement the upstairs has not dropped below 68* yet (1800 sq/ft).

Heater is silent, stink from being new took about 3 days of consistent running to wear off. Even if I have to run this unit on high it will be worth it. with the kwh charges for electricity by me if I run it on high, 1500w, and using the peak kwh rate it will cost me $63 to run it 24 hrs a day... The unit is very nice looking but perhaps the size is a little overkill. I like being able to place it against the wall and out of the way. Does a decent job of heating a poorly insulated room that is about 300 sq. feet with no other heat source. I was able to maintain the room at 60 degrees when the outside temperature dipped to freezing recently. My main gripe is that the heat comes out near the top of the unit (about 2' above the floor). You can't direct the airflow any lower than horizontal so it stays pretty cold on the floor. Just being about to blow the warm air downward would make me change this rating to a 5 star.

Cons:

All in all, this is a good unit for rooms that central heating does not reach effectively. I would definitely buy another unit should the occasion arise.

only 3 stars, because of this design flaw issue:
I like it, and it's not blowing my circuit breaker when it's in the HIGH setting, in the room I need it in, so I'm not going to return it.
Others may not be so lucky due to an inexplicable design decision:
I really HATE that when you turn it to LOW setting, you CANNOT USE THE THERMOSTAT!!!
As soon as you select a thermostat "temperature", it automatically switches from LOW to HIGH power, and could then trip a typically overloaded circuit breaker.
If you MUST use the low setting because of your homes wiring, your only choice to keep it from running continuously, is to use the TIMER feature.(minimum 1 hour)

I've had many heaters, and NONE with a thermostat behaves this way in low setting!!
(Including the same brand cheaper LASKO 754200 ceramic heater that I also bought.) Inexplicable.

I've got some areas of the house that I'll blow the circuit breaker if I use the HIGH... Read more

A little unit that seriously kicks out the heat. I use it for an open area den-there is a draft from main home entry on cold nights. I sit it between door and lounging area. No more cold air is felt across the floor and even warms up the den area. Had thought the remote was an unnecessary perk -- not anymore! Extremely pleased with this unit.

This is a handy little heater that serves its intended purpose well - heating a small room. I use it to take the chill off my computer room which is not usually heated like the rest of the house since I'm not in there all that often. The unit itself is plastic with a metal grille, but it feels very sturdy and well made. The fan noise level is acceptable. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn't interfere. The controls are straight-forward. One dial is the power dial which has 4 settings: Off - Fan - Low - High. The other dial is the thermostat with an infinite range of settings between - and +. (I've found that just below the halfway point is very comfortable, but then again, the winters in California aren't exactly subarctic)

I'd recommend this for anyone with a small area to heat. a bedroom, computer room, sewing room, etc. (mine's in a room about 12 foot square). I doubt it would efficiently heat a room that was too much larger... Read more

Update: 26 Feb 2009. I am keeping this Lasko heater in the living room. I have bought another heater for my 8' x 10' guest bedroom, the Optimus H-5210 Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater available here on Amazon. The Optimus is virtually silent, and takes a bit longer to heat a room that has a ceiling fan (from 60 degrees, it takes a couple hours to truly heat the room up to 70 degrees), and that's fine with me.

Update: 08 March 2009. I am very happy with my Optimus in the guest bedroom!

We bought the metal sided LifeSmart heater last winter to supplement our furnace. I'd heard that it will really reduce heating costs. That part is true. We saved about $30 per month throughout winter. However, when I removed the product from the box and plugged it in the metal sides vibrated badly. There was a constant loud "hum" coming from the heater. It would quit buzzing when I put my hand on the side of it or placed a heavy book leaning against it. Well, that's not what I had in mind. I thought that the product had not been assembled properly so I boxed it up and returned it to the store. They gave me a new one and told me this was the first they'd heard about this problem. I took the new one home, plugged it in and...same thing! A loud buzzing noise. We kept it and placed it downstairs in the den. I guess one gets used to the noise after a while but not worth it. This heater is wonderful. It heats our hallway, living room, and kitchen solidly at 73 degrees. We live in the northern valley of Vermont where winter, and cold is half of your year.
I would completely recommend this product as a addition to your existing heating system. It does allow you to crank down the heat 8 degrees of whatever is normally
comfortable. Do not expect this heater to heat your entire house, that's not its purpose, unless you live in Florida or something.
I do foresee saving some propane this winter season so far, and hence it does it's job.

We purchased the EdenPure 1000XL directly from the manufacture, BioTech Research (Canton, OH). It took twice as long as we were told to arrive and the remote did not work right out of the box. Within five days the unit started turning off and not coming back on despite waiting for hours and room temperture dropping to the point the propane furnace came on.

In order to get the unit to restart I had to turn the "power" button "off" and unplug the unit for anywhere from 5-20 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Only after our experience did I look further into online reviews of EdenPure products which are not favorable. I also checked into BioTech Research (Canton, OH) through the Ohio Better Business Bureau and saw that BioTech has had numerous complaints from customers with similar problems.

I purchased the edenpure 1000 and found that the main difference between it and other space heaters is price. I own several other space heaters including one 1500 watt unit with a fan and one 1500 watt oil filled radiator style heater. I can't tell any real difference in the heating ability of any of them except one thing...price. I purchased an oil filled radiant heater from Target for $28 which seems to do just as well as the edenpure which cost hundreds of dollars more. Not a good value.

The reasoning behind the title I chose is due to the amount of people I hear thinking these are supposed to absolutely work miracles. More explaining to this below.

After Reading some of the other posts, I had to add my 2 cents to the pot.

The iHeaters advertised on Amazon right now are the older (Last Year) models. I bought my iHeater last year (2008) in December. I have to say that last years model was great for the heat, but was a little noisy. I saw the new model and called about it and they said that the noise issue was taken care on the newer model due to they put sealed bearings on the fans instead of the open bearings that were on the older model. I decided to sell my older model and bought the new model for this year and man was I impressed. It runs ultra quiet. I wish I would have seen the reviews of the I-Heater H1500 before I had ordered and it would have saved me the grief I'm having now. To leave a review you have to give this item a star and it really deserves no stars. Top Ten Imports states that it will heat 1000-1500 sq feet....it didn't even heat a 13 x 13 room let alone warm us sitting right in front of it. I'm very disappointed and feel as if I was really taken. I'm upset because I'm an honest person and expect everyone else to be. Live & Learn...as they say. This product is a no return item but that is not stated on the website. Just like the other reviewer states if you see IHeater or Top Ten Import Co., RUN. I am also going to complain to my credit card company and hope they can help us.

We bought an iHeater 1500 after using a standard infrared tower heater so, we had some idea of how to use it. It doesn't work miracles but it will warm a room when used in conjunction with a regular heater, propane in our case. Here is the difference it makes and what it does. First, our room is only 500 square feet but has a sloping ceiling 12'at the highest point and 8' at the lowest making air circulation important so, we bought the larger capacity heater intentionally. This heater comes on and with the fan running, it slowly starts heating the room. It takes a while to feel the effect and unlike the propane heater that just heats the air, the iHeater actually heats the floor, walls, furniture and bed with the infrared heat. We notice the biggest difference in the room that has only propane heat. Chairs and fixtures are colder to the touch and the air temperature gradient can be anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees cooler. After waiting 6 weeks for a EdenPure Heater I cancelled the order. After some research I found out that this is the same technology. I called, ordered the unit and in 3 days it arrived. The Sports Warehouse was stellar to deal with. You only wish more companies had this level of excellent customer service.

The iheater rocks! It warmed our store in 10 minutes. The safety factor of not setting anything on fire and being able to stand close to the iheater is supremo. The iheater gives a very even & comfortable warmth.

This unit will definitely pay for itself this season. We have a 3 ton electric heater which costs us about $3/Hr. to operate. The iheater will be only $0.40/Hr. to run (NYC commercial rates). BIG DIFFERENCE! We will only have to run the larger 3 ton unit 1/5 of the time now. For our winter heating budget even with the purchase of the unit we will spend less money.

It took me 2 years to decide to buy one of these infared heaters. I settled on the I heater. I work in the hvac field so i used some of the tools of the trade to test the performance of this heater. There is a difference between the small medium and large room settings. The small rm puts out 85 degree air. The large rm puts out 110 degree air. I have used the heater for 30 days. I use it in a very large room. The room is a open floor plan room with a cathedral ceiling 14 foot at highest point.(dinning rm kitchen and family rm). The heater is set at 75 and never shuts off for the 4 to 5 hours its on. The heater will raise the wall t-stat one to 4 degrees in the 5 hours it is on. I keep the wall t-stat set at 68. If I set the iheater at 72 it will shut off, but doesnt cycle like it should. The temp in the room drops quickly wants the heat source is off. It does keep the furnace from cycling on and off. I turn the iheater on at 4 and off at 10 and the furnace doesnot run during those... Read more

I am very pleased with this product. It lives up to all they say about it, with possibly one exception. It costs more than a $1 a day to run. It did raise my electric bill considerably, but it lowered my gas bill as well. I've given it one less star than top rating because dealers are misrepresenting the cost to operate.

What is so great is that I was much more comfortable running this heater. It keeps my whole home (granted, a small home - 1100 sq feet) warm. It is such a comfortable, even heat. Not like my forced air furnace which makes the room either too hot or too cold about 50% of the time. And the heat is even throughout the house, unlike the furnace where some rooms are too warm and some too cold. I don't feel the drafts as much, the air... Read more

I ordered one of these after I got a $460 power bill in this crazy winter in the mid-Atlantic region, after the power company raised their rates through the ceiling and I read the reviews on what an incredible innovation in heating this unit is. It's a nice space heater; looks great, great controls, very quiet, etc. But it is what it is - a 1500 Watt space heater. It won't cut your electric bill in half, unless you're willing to freeze in the process. The hype is transparent to me now, and I could have spent a lot less for the same heating output, though it certainly wouldn't have been as nicely adorned wi5h features that are expensive but in the end add nothing to the real goal...staying warm cheaply!

I purchased my iHeater 1500 last week. Living in SE North Carolina, our temperatures aren't that bad. But as soon as we hit the 40's, I stayed cold. I set heater at highest level (1500 sq. ft.) and left it on for 2 days solid trying to warm it. It was cold even in the one room it was in. Yes, I kept my heat pump at 65 hoping this would help maintain that throughout my house but at least make the room it was in warmer. It says it heats up the elements. It may have heated them up, which I could not tell it did anything, but my hands and feet both stayed cold. Kinda feel like one guy said, it's pretty much like have a $30 quartz heater you can buy at Walmart. As a matter of fact, I have one of those and it heats the room better and uses the same amount of electricity. Sure wish I could say better things because I really wanted to save on my heating bill. But I can't . It' definitely not worth it.

...you need to invest a little time in thinking about 1) what it is you want it to do and, 2) coming to grips with what it is actually capable of.

A lot of people buy this heater (24%) after looking at the EdenPure portable electric space heater. I am guessing that those who do are looking to save about fifty bucks over the cost of the EdenPure and believe (correctly) that it is a virtual replica of the EdenPure. And that would be just wonderful if the EdenPure portable electric space heater (and this one) lived up to the hype that surrounds it. The problem is neither one does...they are both being promoted with false premises.

In fact, some claims are pure lies. Take this one: "Testing shows, the Dr. HeaterTM has 60% more heat output compared to most other heaters on the market." I found that the heater generally does what it claims to do, except for the size of the room it is supposed to heat. We used it exclusively in our basement rec room and it had to struggle to get the room tempurature over 70 degrees running on high. Outside tempurature was normally in the mid thirties to the mid-forties. It ran very quietly, attractive and the remote system is great. The heater did not get hot, as advertised. It would probably work great in a smaller room such as a bedroom.

We bought this heater to use in our living room and kitchen/dining area. We have all baseboard heat and our heating bills are usually through the roof. This heater does a good job and we are very happy, but there are a few things to point out.

1. It is a smaller heater than you might expect. It is half the price of an eden pure...but be advised that it's about half the size of the eden pure my parents have. That said, I think I'd rather have two of these than one eden pure that way I can space them out more.

2. This thing won't heat a 1000 sq/ft area. We use it in a 250-300 sq/ft living room that has an opening to our kitchen dining room that is about 250 sq/ft. It will heat up the room and maintain when it is as cold as the 20's outside...colder than that and we need to use our baseboard w/ this heater to get it up to temp (in about 10 minutes mind you)...and then this heater will do a great job of maintaining that heat on it's own.
