BEIRUT PRINTS brings together a group of Lebanese photographers in addition to a few photographers of other nationalities to present works on the seemingly simple idea: reveal the other faces of Beirut. This city can sometimes be violent and war-ridden, flaunt provocative singers and dubious politicians. But it is also a lovely place to live in, full of stories and nooks… And through the medium of photography, BEIRUT PRINTS has found works and hence photographers who do just that: reveal the bright and dark side of Beirut, its poetry, mysteries and ordinary things.
The journey began in 2011 with eight photographers: Eye Clot, Tony Elieh, David Hury, Mazen Jannoun, Ghadi Smat, Tanya Traboulsi, Toni Yammine and Lara Zankoul. And many more will follow...
So, please join us in discovering through this website the many hidden facets of this wonderful city.

BEIRUT PRINTS works to challenge the perceptions people have of Beirut. Taking photographs of the city may not seem the obvious way to take, but sometimes images can go a long way towards change. This project also aims to encourage rising and talented photographers working in Beirut through providing greater exposure for their work and paying royalties.

The Offset Posters
In December 2011, BEIRUT PRINTS launched the first series of 28 posters (58x88 cm) available in bookstores around Lebanon, at the Beirut International Airport, and online packaged in specially designed tubes.

The limited edition photo prints
In February 2012, BEIRUT PRINTS introduced limited edition art prints of a larger variety of photographs on Beirut with the choice of two types of paper (Epson UltraSmooth Fine Art and Epson Premium Semimatte Photo Paper), and in three different sizes (40x60cm, 50x75cm, 80x120cm). Each print is signed and dated by the photographer.

Lebanon is now qualifyed for the final round of World Cup Qualifications of 2014 which will take place in Brazil. The Lebanese Football National team wins 2-1 against Korea.

Ali Saadi scores an early Goal on the 4th minute of the game against the South Korean team, amidst a Lebanese crowd of tens of thousands of fans including President Michel Sleiman, at the Sport City in Beirut.

The Lebanese Team puts the second goal by Abbas Atwi through a penalty kick, giving him the lead again with a score of 2-1 against the South Korean Team.

New7Wonders of Nature is an initiative started in 2007 to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen by people through a global poll. It is being led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organized by the New7Wonders Foundation, a Swiss-based, government-controlled foundation. This campaign follows the New Seven Wonders of the World, which attracted 100 million votes from around the world.
Voting is scheduled to continue until Nov. 11, 2011...

The Official New7Wonders of Nature campaign started in 2007, immediately after the campaign to elect the man-made New Seven Wonders of the World, in which more than 100 million votes were cast. From over 440 participants representing over 220 countries and through a national qualification and race to become one of the Top 77, as well as the recommendations of the Panel of Experts led by Prof. Federico Mayor, the list of 28 "Official Finalist Candidates" has been determined. Voting is underway and will continue throughout 2010 and into 2011. During this time, the New7Wonders World Tour is planned to visit each of the finalists to allow them to present themselves to the voters across the globe.

The Official Lebanese Top 20 was created by John Saad. An established TV and radio personality, John Saad has extensive and diverse professional experience. He started working as an advertising executive, evolving to become the founder and managing partner of a promotion planning and events management firm. And over the years he has put his managerial and creative talents to good use in more than 10 countries (including Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, US and UK).

Active on many fronts, John Saad has over 23 years of radio, TV and print experience under his belt. This paved the way for him to launch and head Virgin Radio Jordan. Before this, Saad was the catalyst driving the first French radio show in the Emirates and was the main man behind the Music Show on MTV before the TV channel's initial closure. He also prepared and presented radio chart shows for around 20 years (The UK & US Chart Show on RML and the RML Top 30).

And now John Saad's passion for charts and music come to life in the creation of the Official Lebanese Top 20: the first 100% accurate local airplay chart. In conjunction with devoting time and energy to this weekly chart, Saad will be rekindling his event management expertise.

World Heritage List

The World Heritage List includes 936 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.

These include 725 cultural, 183 natural and 28 mixed properties in 153 States Parties. As of June 2010, 187 States Parties have ratified the World Heritage Convention.

Banque du Liban (BDL) (Arabic: مصرف لبنان‎, French: Banque du Liban) is the central bank of Lebanon. It was established on August 1, 1963 and became fully operational on April 1, 1964. It is currently headed by Riad Salameh, who was named the Middle East's best central bank governor by Euromoney in 2005.

One of the main responsibilities of the bank is issuing Lebanon's currency, the Lebanese Pound. Other responsibilities include maintaining monetary stability, regulation of money transfers, and maintaining the soundness of the banking sector. Banking is a very important part of Lebanon's economy with over 100 different banks, which makes the role of Banque du Liban particularly important. It currently owns 99.37% of the shares of Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines. However, plans call for it to sell its stake in the airline by 2008 as part of government plans to privatize many institutions.
The government has recently launched an ambitious 5-year economic reform program in hopes to cut the country's debt. The outcome of the reform program will largely be dependent on Banque du Liban.

Besides the main branch in Beirut, it has branches in Aley, Baalbeck, Bikfaya, Jounieh, Nabatiye, Sidon, Tripoli, Tyre, and Zahlé.

Classic Car Show 2011

The Beirut Souks is excited to host at “The Venue” the Beirut Classic Car Show for 2011. With over 50 classic cars from the XXth century spanning the 1920s to the 1970s, collected and preserved by Lebanese enthusiasts, the show will most certainly strike a chord with any car enthusiast.

Cars on display in “The Venue” can be viewed from 16:00 til 22:00, however everyone can enjoy the cars on display along souk Arwam from 10:00 until 22:00 for the duration of the exhibit.
