Recently Alexis Mabille became a member of haute couture club. His precise work on the craftsmanship and marvelous technique of body structure for this show defiantly paid off.

He established the more intimate feeling from the first look, a pleated organza camisole strewn with lace, accompanied by a pair of tapered radzimir pants. (According to Vogue, pants have begun turning up with some frequency at the couture shows since Raf Simons' debut at Dior.) A sleeveless button-down with an embroidered bib and an ombré-dyed tiered and pleated floor-length skirt struck a more formal but nonetheless versatile note. Love his creations, as well as the material and the colors his uses.

DC FASHION: Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2013 Couture Collection

Ulyana Sergeenko presented yesterday her second Couture show, which has been called as American collection. Sergeenko surprised us again with another stunning collection. „If nothing else, the U.S. contingent was amused by a soundtrack that ranged from The Wizard of Oz to Django Unchained to Rocky. There wasn't a bad tune in the lot, but their cumulative effect bordered on kitsch.“ she said to the press.
Sergeenko's clothes are unapologetically theatrical. But not so fast. The buttons nipping up the back of gowns were porcelain, hand-painted with characters out of Russian nursery rhymes, and delicate crocheted embroideries were inset like cameos into sweet silk blouses. If Sergeenko can hone that sense of subtlety and nurture her wild devotion to detail, she just might make a designer out of herself yet.

Karl Lagerfeld signed another couture collection at its best. The Spring 2013 couture collection was influenced by the romance of Weimer, who's substance was glitter and shine. He was dreaming of Weimar, sylvan hub of German Romanticism in the late eighteenth century, home to Goethe and Schiller. Connoisseurs of synchronicity might appreciate the fact that one of Schiller's best-known plays was Mary Stuart.

The daytime tweeds sparkled, the evening looks were a hymn to the sequin. The silhouette was determined by a feature Lagerfeld called "frame shoulders."

Weimar was also the birthplace of the Bauhaus, and there was something of that design movement's rigor in long, lean evening columns. Anything that looked like a print was actually embroidery—the man-hours involved in such technical feats clearly involved rigors of another kind.

The show ended with two brides, which Lagarfeld poke at the gay-marrage controversy currently roiling France—its most striking feature was its melancholic mood.

Giambattista Valli is one of my favorite couturiers. This time he brought the innocent traditional alta moda, which seems to look very fresh on his women. The Spring 2013 Couture collection was presented in Roman codes, and took a basic black and white costumes, as well as friendly flowers on silhouette movement.

That statement of intent resonated through the first half of the collection, producing outfits as striking as a croc-collared black shift with an inky squelch of sheen trailing down its front, and an ocelot-spot jumpsuit with an overlay of mousseline that trailed away dramatically.

Yeserday’s Versace Aterlier Couture show, was different from the previous Versace runways. Kristen McMenamy opened Donatella Versace's show in pansuit, where in the nineties, McMenamy was the favorite model of Gianni Versace. This time the Spring Couture 2013 collection, was all about lavished glamorous daywear.

Donatella brought the body-loving, rigorous fit of her gowns to black wool shot through with 24-karat gold pinstripes. However the Kristen's pantsuit, with geometric beading at the shoulders and stripes down the outside of the legs, there was Joan Small's knockout sheath, with a sheer tulle panel embroidered with gold. A boxy, boyish blazer made from gold metal that was worn sans pants as a dress had serious sex appeal. Luxurious jacket constructed from alternating strips of black mink and chain mail, as well as boxy boyish blazer, turned all heads. All these shiny neon dresses, minidresses and body tight dresses were starts of the night.

DC INTERIOR: Chic in the Apthorp

I was reading some interior design blogs and I came up to this wonderful apartment at The Apthorp. Recently I am viewing a special exhibition, interior designer Stephen Sills, also gave me a tour of the model apartments he designed. This one happens to be a bit more traditional and makes great use of all the beautiful architectural details. He actually made it a point to convince the developer to keep as much original details as possible including mother of pearl switches which is usually unheard of today. This one is my absolute favorite architectural and interior design.

The talented photographer Sophie Elgort linked this article on Twitter and I thought, it would be definitely worth posting here. As we start the New Year thinking about how we can be more organized or on time, perhaps we should start by working on being happy.
Most of my friends will attest that I'm a pretty happy glass half full type of person. That's not to say that everyday is full of sunshine and rainbows. But when bad things happen, I always try to figure out a way to turn that negative situation around. Many times when I'm in a funk, a quick visit to Twitter is all it takes to get me out of it. Everyone is so funny that before I know it, I'm laughing out loud. I've often joked that Twitter is my happy place and it might just make an excellent No. 13 to this list! :-)

12 THINGS HAPPY PEOPLE DO DIFFERENTLY

Studies conducted by positivity psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky point to 12 things happy people do differently to increase their levels of happiness. These are things that we can start doing today to feel the effects of more happiness in our lives. (Check out her book The How of Happiness)

Express gratitude – When you appreciate what you have, what you have appreciates in value. Kinda cool right? So basically, being grateful for the goodness that is already evident in your life will bring you a deeper sense of happiness. And that’s without having to go out and buy anything. It makes sense. We’re gonna have a hard time ever being happy if we aren’t thankful for what we already have.
Cultivate optimism – Winners have the ability to manufacture their own optimism. No matter what the situation, the successful diva is the chick who will always find a way to put an optimistic spin on it. She knows failure only as an opportunity to grow and learn a new lesson from life. People who think optimistically see the world as a place packed with endless opportunities, especially in trying times.
Avoid over-thinking and social comparison – Comparing yourself to someone else can be poisonous. If we’re somehow ‘better’ than the person that we’re comparing ourselves to, it gives us an unhealthy sense of superiority. Our ego inflates – KABOOM – our inner Kanye West comes out! If we’re ‘worse’ than the person that we’re comparing ourselves to, we usually discredit the hard work that we’ve done and dismiss all the progress that we’ve made. What I’ve found is that the majority of the time this type of social comparison doesn’t stem from a healthy place. If you feel called to compare yourself to something, compare yourself to an earlier version of yourself.
Practice acts of kindness – Performing an act of kindness releases serotonin in your brain. (Serotonin is a substance that has TREMENDOUS health benefits, including making us feel more blissful.) Selflessly helping someone is a super powerful way to feel good inside. What’s even cooler about this kindness kick is that not only will you feel better, but so will people watching the act of kindness. How extraordinary is that? Bystanders will be blessed with a release of serotonin just by watching what’s going on. A side note is that the job of most anti-depressants is to release more serotonin. Move over Pfizer, kindness is kicking ass and taking names.
Nurture social relationships – The happiest people on the planet are the ones who have deep, meaningful relationships. Did you know studies show that people’s mortality rates are DOUBLED when they’re lonely? WHOA! There’s a warm fuzzy feeling that comes from having an active circle of good friends who you can share your experiences with. We feel connected and a part of something more meaningful than our lonesome existence.
Develop strategies for coping – How you respond to the ‘craptastic’ moments is what shapes your character. Sometimes crap happens – it’s inevitable. Forrest Gump knows the deal. It can be hard to come up with creative solutions in the moment when manure is making its way up toward the fan. It helps to have healthy strategies for coping pre-rehearsed, on-call, and in your arsenal at your disposal.
Learn to forgive – Harboring feelings of hatred is horrible for your well-being. You see, your mind doesn’t know the difference between past and present emotion. When you ‘hate’ someone, and you’re continuously thinking about it, those negative emotions are eating away at your immune system. You put yourself in a state of suckerism (technical term) and it stays with you throughout your day.
Increase flow experiences – Flow is a state in which it feels like time stands still. It’s when you’re so focused on what you’re doing that you become one with the task. Action and awareness are merged. You’re not hungry, sleepy, or emotional. You’re just completely engaged in the activity that you’re doing. Nothing is distracting you or competing for your focus.
Savor life’s joys – Deep happiness cannot exist without slowing down to enjoy the joy. It’s easy in a world of wild stimuli and omnipresent movement to forget to embrace life’s enjoyable experiences. When we neglect to appreciate, we rob the moment of its magic. It’s the simple things in life that can be the most rewarding if we remember to fully experience them.
Commit to your goals – Being wholeheartedly dedicated to doing something comes fully-equipped with an ineffable force. Magical things start happening when we commit ourselves to doing whatever it takes to get somewhere. When you’re fully committed to doing something, you have no choice but to do that thing. Counter-intuitively, having no option – where you can’t change your mind – subconsciously makes humans happier because they know part of their purpose.
Practice spirituality – When we practice spirituality or religion, we recognize that life is bigger than us. We surrender the silly idea that we are the mightiest thing ever. It enables us to connect to the source of all creation and embrace a connectedness with everything that exists. Some of the most accomplished people I know feel that they’re here doing work they’re “called to do.”
Take care of your body – Taking care of your body is crucial to being the happiest person you can be. If you don’t have your physical energy in good shape, then your mental energy (your focus), your emotional energy (your feelings), and your spiritual energy (your purpose) will all be negatively affected. Did you know that studies conducted on people who were clinically depressed showed that consistent exercise raises happiness levels just as much as Zoloft? Not only that, but here’s the double whammy… Six months later, the people who participated in exercise were less likely to relapse because they had a higher sense of self-accomplishment and self-worth.

DC FASHION: Prada Womenswear Spring/Summer 2013 Campaign

Extreme simplicity is the mood for Prada’s focus on the many facets of a women’s complex personality, captured in campaign images shot by Steven Meisel for Spring/Summer 2013.

An impressive and dynamic ensemble of leading models, including Vanessa Axente, Saskia de Brauw, Irina Kravchenko, Eva Herzigova, Sung Hee, Irene Hiemstra, Kirsten Owen, Sasha Pivovarova, Amber Valleta, Maartje Verhoef and Raquel Zimmermann, reveal their individual personas in the series of striking studio portraits, together channeling Prada’s new take on modern femininity.

Uncompromising backgrounds of grey or inky black are refreshingly spare and confident – a contemporary canvas for the models’ distinctive attitudes, and a collection that turns on its head notions of womanhood.

Flowers are a recurring motif, re-imagined on panel prints on duchesse satun dresses, appliques on wraps and inset on eyewear. Full-leigth shots are paired with cropped images, accentuating the contrasting characteristics of these eleven eclectic and iconic models, and the duality at the heart of Prada’s new woman.

DC BEAUTY: Guerlain Shalimar "Ode à la Vanille"

This is one of the most wonderful gift I have received this Christmas! The new limited edition of the famous “Orient Queen” Shalimar Ode à la Vanille, arrived last week to my home. Created for the Christmas season, this wonderful perfume has the nose of the composition is Thierry Wassar, and the bottle is designed by Jade Jagger, the daughter of the rockstar Mick Jagger. This unique composition contains two kinds of vanilla, Mayotte and Madagascar vanilla. This fragrance has a lovely, powdery, creamy soft vanilla flavor, and it starts to blossom on your skin, it just smells so wonderful! Shalimar Ode a la Vanille is available as 50 ml EdP.

DC EVENT: The most memorable „Tree Trimming Party“ at Maryam’s Home

Last night I have been invited to the most memorable Christmas Tree Timing Party ever. The successful lady Maryam Yeganehfar, CEO of yamyam event production KG, opened her apartment doors and welcomed her guests with a warm big smile.

People who got to know her personally, know exactly how lovely and how hospitable she is. Yes, she is an expert on planning and organizing most wonderful events, however when it comes to a private home party, there is an extra effort that you have to put on.
The great festive mood, lightning, table settings and wonderful decoration, made me stare every little corner in Maryam's lovely apartment. The Tree Timing Party's Theme was "Very British", and everyone brought their own hand made Christmas tree decorations.

Oh you won't believe it - Kate and William visited the Party too (I mean, at least we decorated the Christmas Tree with Kate and William's portrait photos)! ;-)

Delicious finger food, traditional persian and arab food such as falafel, hummus and couscous, and lots of Champagne were served last night. Additionally, I must admit that I loved the shabby chic furnitures, decorations, and the colors at Maryam's apartment.
