Sorry again for the lack of posts! I have just received an update on Ghost Whisperer. Check back for the update tomorrow!

On May 18th, CBS annouced that they were cancelling Ghost Whisperer after 5 seasons and over 100 episodes due to rising costs and a decline in viewers throughout season 5. CBS also cancelled many other shows: Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, Miami Medical (which seems weird because this show is new and only has aired 7 or 8 episodes), Accidentally on Purpose, Numb3rs and The New Adventures of Old Christine. However, not all is lost for fans of Christine and Ghost because ABC is expected to renew both of the series. ABC owns Ghost Whisperer and has long wanted to buy Old Christine. Decisions are expected later this week. Being a fan, I’m hoping they renew Ghost. As for Christine, I’ve never seen it so I don’t care so much if they renew it or not. But you might, let me know what you think of these shows in the comments section below!

I’m sure you’ve all seen Avatar. You know, the one that has made 2.7 billion dollars so far in theaters. If you haven’t, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. It’s on DVD and Blu-ray and iTunes now, by the way. Anyways, to the point of this post. Avatar did so well, why wouldn’t they make a sequel? Well, how about two? Yes, Avatar has TWO planned sequels! In 2006, Cameron stated that if Avatar was successful, he hoped to make two sequels to the film. In 2010, he said the film’s widespread success confirmed that he will. The prospect of sequels was something he planned from the start, going so far as to include certain scenes in the film for future story followups. Cameron said he wants to make the sequel “cheaper and faster” and that the story will be a continuation of the characters introduced in Avatar.

Though plots for future sequels have not been laid out yet, Cameron stated that they are going to widen the universe while exploring other moons of Polyphemus. The first sequel will focus on the ocean of Pandora but also there will be more of the rainforest. It will continue to follow the characters of Jake and Neytiri. Cameron implied that the humans would return as the antagonists of the story. “I expect that those nasty humans didn’t go away forever,” he said. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have signed on to reprise their roles in future sequels, and Stephen Lang, who played Colonel Miles Quaritch, believes his character could make a return: “You think those two arrows in my chest are going to stop me from coming back?” Lang told Entertainment Weekly, “Nothing’s over so long as they’ve got my DNA.” In late February 2010, Sigourney Weaver, who played Dr. Grace Augustine, announced the possibility of her return for a sequel in an interview for the Le Grand Journal TV Show in Paris.
When being interviewed by AP on the red carpet of the 82nd Academy Awards, Cameron stated “if I were to start Avatar 2 tomorrow, it would still be three years away.”

Well, I personally loved Avatar. I saw it once in theaters and a couple more times on DVD, one with my family and one at a church group, we stayed up until 2:30 AM watching it. Read my review here. So, if the sequels are at least half as good as the first, they will make awesome movies!

The Motion Picture Association of America’s Classification and Ratings Administration released their weekly ratings bulletin this morning, which included a rating for the highly anticipated third part of The Twilight Saga.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse received a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.” Both Twilight and New Moon were PG-13 as well, but for slightly different, and somewhat telling, reasons: Twilight garnered its rating due to “some violence and a scene of sensuality,” while New Moon earned it for “some violence and action.”

Confirming what the most recent trailer suggested, Eclipse’s rating indicates that the action quotient has been ramped up compared to the first two movies. It appears that Eclipse’s marketing will try to build on this in order to attract action-seeking males who have been unmoved by Edward and Bella’s love story up to this point. At the very least, more action may serve to make the movie more tolerable for the males that are dragged to see Eclipse.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens Wednesday, June 30, and faces M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender over Independence Day weekend.
