The website, DisneylandScoop.com was started January 15, 2007 by me, an avid Disneyland Annual Passholder and fan. As we visit Disneyland monthly, we were always being asked questions and info about the parks and what was going on. We are not in any way affiliated with the Disneyland Resort or the Walt Disney Company.

Since that time, I have become not only a fan, a blogger, but a Travel Agent, and eventually an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. I have my own travel agency, Wish Upon A Star Travel. So, you are probably wondering, Why use an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner? Great question!!!

First off, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner is a travel agent who has completed Disney's College of Disney Knowledge and is fully versed in all Disney travel including theme parks, Adventure by Disney, Disney Cruise Line, and Aulani, Disney's premier Hawaiian Resort now open. Compass Books and Cafe: Closing March 31st
La Brea Bakery: Quick service side closed for remodel. The entire restaurant will close in mid-March through April 1st for just a couple of weeks.
Construction: will take place in the planters and buildings around Jamba Juice, Sephora, Studio Disney 365, and Marceline's Confectionary through February 17, 2012.
LEGO Imagination Center: Will relocate temporarily to the former Island Charters store while renovation takes place in the permanent store.

Power Equipment Test on February 1, 2012: The Fantasy Tower, Frontier Tower, Grand Ballroom, and Magic Kingdom Ballroom will be temporarily without power for 15 minutes during a 30-minute test.

Pool Deck: Now through March 2, 2012 the Pool Deck will be closed for construction

Painting: The Main Porte Cochere columns will undergo painting from January 30 - February 9, 2012.

Mickey Mouse Penthouse Suite at Disneyland Hotel

One of the most unusual VIP lodging experiences in the world, the amazing Mickey Mouse Penthouse is located atop the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. The Mickey Mouse Penthouse features an interior design of bold “Mickey” colors of black, white, red and yellow, occupies an expansive 1600 square feet and includes an open living room, dining and kitchen area, 2.5 baths and two bedrooms. Carthay Circle Theatre

Jolly Holiday Bakery Café

Now open on Main Street U.S.A., the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café offers a menu of sandwiches, salads, bakery items and specialty beverages. Inspired by the song, “Oh, it’s a Jolly Holiday with Mary” from “Mary Poppins,” the café has whimsical touches from the film throughout the building and outdoor seating area, including this stained-glass image on an entry window.

The menu at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café includes an Angus roast beef salad with blue cheese; a Caprese sandwich with tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella, basil, butter lettuce and garlic aioli on toasted focaccia bread; and a selection of soups. Bakery items include seasonal muffins, Matterhorn macaroons, flourless chocolate cake and Mickey-shaped desserts.

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure opened to guests on June 3, 2011, at Disney California Adventure park. This whimsical underwater adventure begins when guests board pastel-colored clamshell vehicles and head “under the sea” to visit Ariel and her friends in a musical retelling of the classic motion picture. During this immersive experience, guests will see the Little Mermaid falling in love, getting her legs, losing her voice and winning the prince as the best-loved musical numbers bring the attraction to life all around them.

This is the first Disney ride-through attraction that takes you “under the sea” with Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian and Ursula, with music and scenes from “The Little Mermaid” film.
Nearly 200 Audio-Animatronics figures perform in the attraction. The Under the Sea scene alone has 128 figures, including 50 spinning starfish.
Ursula is the largest Audio-Animatronics figure in the show at 7½-feet tall and 12-feet wide. She also has a squash-and-stretch function in her torso and flexible materials so she can bounce along with the music.
An 86-foot long, hand-painted mural greets guests in the loading area of the attraction. The mural depicts many of the characters guests will see within the attraction including Prince Eric, King Triton, Sebastian, Flounder and, of course, Ariel.
The attraction was created by a team of talented Imagineers and consultants including Senior Show Producer Lisa Girolami, Creative Director/Show Designer Larry Nikolai, and Frank Antonides, director of project management – all from Walt Disney Imagineering – along with Chris Crump, production and show designer, and Danny Troob, musical arranger and orchestrator.
The attraction building was inspired by the Dragon Gorge scenic railway at the long-gone Ocean Park amusement zone in Southern California.
The building’s façade features a statue of King Triton and relief carvings of six frolicking mermaids. The mermaids are Ariel’s older sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella, and Alana.
The Palace of Fine Arts rotunda, originally the entrance to the former “Golden Dreams” attraction, has been incorporated into The Little Mermaid attraction architecture and is now part of the entrance façade.
A special skin technology had to be incorporated into the Audio-Animatronics figures for Ariel, King Triton and Ursula since they have so much skin exposed.
The attraction features an Omnimover ride system pioneered by Walt Disney Imagineers in the 1960s and used for the “Doom Buggies” of the Haunted Mansion, as well as in Adventures Through Inner Space, formerly in Tomorrowland.
Attraction vehicles are sculpted multi-colored, pastel clamshells.
The attraction experience is approximately 5½ minutes from the time guests load the clamshell to the time they exit the clamshell.
Music in the queue features an orchestral medley of songs from the film.
Songs from the original film written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken are featured in the attraction: “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and the Academy Award winning “Under the Sea.” Guests will recognize the voices of Jodi Benson (Ariel) and Pat Carroll (Ursula).
The Little Mermaid feature film debuted November 15, 1989, and the film won Academy Awards for Best Song, “Under the Sea,” and Best Original Score.
The Little Mermaid was the first Disney film based on a classic fairy tale since Sleeping Beauty three decades earlier.
Imagineers working on the attraction consulted with Ariel’s animator in the film, Glen Keane, who recommended that her hair be treated as a character all its own.
Each scene of the attraction was first built as a one-quarter-inch scale model and then as a one‑inch scale model, so Imagineers could “ride” through the attraction scene-by-scene before full construction began.
The attraction concludes with a surprise ending that takes us beyond the ending of the film.
A similar version of the attraction is scheduled to open in the new Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Mad T Party Coming to Disney CA Adventure

Menu

Tangaroa Terrace - Casual Island Dining is a tropical retreat complete with lit torches and music from the South Seas. Named for the most magical of gods from the Enchanted Tiki Room, it is located between the Monorail Slide and D-Ticket pools at the Disneyland Hotel.

Whether you are ready to Grab-n-Go or would prefer to eat on island time, there are signature items for every meal of the day.

Breakfast Signature Items
Start the day with French toast with bacon and warm banana-caramel sauce or grilled cinnamon-spiced oatmeal cakes and much more.

Disney Unveils $1000 Disney Parks Shopping Card

Disney Parks unveiled a new $1,000 Disney Parks Shopping Card valid at Disney Parks and Resorts or Disney Vacation Clubs, not for online purchases. A normal Gift Card has a maximum value of $500.00. It is available at Disneyland.com, DisneyWorld.com, PinTrading.com, and Vinylmation.com.

One drawback to this card is it can only be used on merchandise. It is not valid for hotel stays, food, services, tickets, or other gift cards. It is also only valid on regularly priced merchandise, so Annual Passholder discounts, Cast Member discounts, or AAA discounts do not apply.

Disney Inspired Pumpkins

Our family got creative this year and made pumpkins with a Buzz Lightyear kit we purchased at Target and we also used the parts from the Mr Potato Head parts at Disney CA Adventure to create a couple other pirates too!!!

Restaurant Changes Coming to Main Street, USA

The Blue Ribbon Bakery is moving and getting a new name: Jolly Holiday Bakery Café, from the “Mary Poppins” song, “Oh, it’s a jolly holiday with Mary …” The bakery moves to the Plaza Pavilion (at the top of Main Street, U.S.A.) with plans to open in early January. In addition to the bakery and espresso offerings, the new menu has some delicious new tastes, such as an Angus roast beef salad with blue cheese; a Caprese sandwich with tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella, basil, butter lettuce and garlic aioli on toasted focaccia bread; and a classic pastrami reuben on rye.

Carnation Café is expanding with more indoor seating – the Blue Ribbon Bakery move is part of that expansion plan, as Carnation Café spreads out to take over the space and offer more air-conditioned seating. Work starts in January, and they’ll have a new menu that will showcase longtime favorites (and we’ve heard it includes milkshakes).

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor is getting a little makeover, too, and adding root beer, Coca-Cola and orange cream floats to the menu. And the block makeover wraps up at Refreshment Corner – construction starts early next year.
