EPP, Password, Auth Code denied by a fraudulent Italian Registrar

I need the ICANN opportune branch help or the support from an
international Registrar to solve an annoying issue I
have with an Italian registrar (Register.it) the avoid the transfer of some
domains I registered through it.

What happened is very simple.

Thank to a promotion of this Italian registrar, I had the chance (on last
August) to register a certain amount of domains (about a hundred).

Of this promotion I have the original "step by step" screenshots and I indeed
didn't use any fraudulent method to register these domains (the name is mine as
well the VAT code requested during the registration process).

After some days I tried to access the CP of this new domains and I
discovered that register.it had frozen them.

The reason?

The promotion was intended for only one domain per person and so they locked
any EPP - Password - Auth Code inhibiting domains transfers.

I don't understand why they did it, considering that I used (differently from
a lot of other people that surely filled the promotional forms with fake data) my real name,
real address, real VAT Code, real phone and personal email.

Probably I know (and you know) the reason.

With a fake name I'm not able to transfer the registered
domain to another registrar (I can't provide official Identity documents owned
by the fake name used). So Register.it is sure that if I develop contents and
activities on that domain, it will remain "at home" and will "pay" the
"promotional efforts" of the Registrar.

Since I used real data (and no double entries checking tools
had been set up on the database to avoid this), I could be able/succeed in
transferring the domains to another registrar.

They told me I've been fraudulent in registering all those
domains, and that I have to pay more and less 10000 USD to get my domains EPP.

I think that on national basis they can act against me, if
they really think I'm damaging them cause I've been fraudulently using their
promotion (if they're able to demonstrate it), but (even reading ICANN rules on
these kind of issues) they can't deny to provide the EPP code and let me use
regularly un-locked domains about which I'm the Owner ADMIN-C, BILLING-C.

So I should to pay 35 Euros more VAT for each
domain registered (something like 55 USD for a mere
registration in common ccTLD domains class).

If you think this is a correct behavior from a registrar, I'll
stop bugging the net with this issue. On the contrary, if you're an
International Registrar representative, please contact me in order to transfer
to you these up listed domains, even calling for an advice the ICANN board or
Ombundsman.

On a national level, my legal firm is evaluating the best
strategy to act against them, involving, if the case, some consumers
associations.

I'm looking for an International Registrar because my country
is afflicted by a malign sort of agreements/trusts of ICT services providers (to
be honest not only in ICT).

I feel it's scandalous.
If you take a tour among the main electronic equipment stores all over Italy (and italian web based stores, too), you'll see HTC products largely available everywhere.
The same generosity is not available when you need HTC (ex Qtek) support services.

But now we start from the beginning.

I'm a fortunate user of a Qtek 9090 device. A PDA phone with WI-FI features, BT, GPRS, a good processor, a Secure Digital slot, a bundled keyboard and Windows Mobile 2003.

A very common event, occurred due to device intense using: LCD and Touchscreen got broken.
Yes, I confess. I'm a little bit distract, and my head run besides codes and OSes; so I sitted on the poor Qtek device, breaking its main screen glass and severe damaging the TouchScreen LCD system.

What would you've done?

Go where we live..... Internet.

And here start the nightmare.

After some difficult googling (no good score for some precise keywords as "Qtek" "support" "assistance") I finally stop in the site that follows.
And for the first of an endless number of times, I had to complete annoying forms, that only my best browsing pal (Roboform) lighted a bit.

As you'll see, if you'll keep on reading, just to know a stupid support center mail or web address, I've been called to complete forms over forms....

Ok. The first one's my mistake. Brightpoint (I love them...) don't care of my problems....

But if you call your domain http://www.myqtek.com/ some stupid customers like me that don't read any single line of a web site, can wrong...
Take a look at the intro page of the Brightpoint site, do you see any Brightpoint Logo?

Ok.... said bye-bye to ambiguous marketing strategies at Brightpoint, I kept on surfing following cited company suggestions (knocking at http://www.qtekcorp.com/ for not "Brightpointed" support).

It was clear at that point, that no Qtek customer care or support service for Italians is set up, so no chance to repair my PDA.

I'm not the kind of girl that give up a fight without having spent all available energies.

So, I decided to loose another hour of my time and I read docs on the net.

I discovered that Qtek doesn't exist anymore and HTC has bought the entire brand.

"How stupid you are, Stephanie! Is normal that to repair a phone you must know stocks market and brands evolution...."

So I visited the HTC site.

I found the Qtek brand and my marvelous "Blue Angel" alias 9090.

This is wonderful. They offer to you, as you can see, a phone service to support you with Italian language, but, as later I'll show you, they're not able to answer to emails with any language, but English.... What do you think, it's time to donate some dimes to HTC via PayPal to support them for their efforts?

Through an odious "do it by yourself" system to solve some obvious troubleshootings, that however doesn't comprehend, in any categories, the simple break of the phone screen, I finally reach a form....

After an hour and an half of browsing and reading, I have a phone number. No web site, no mail, but a phone number from Emilia Romagna (a 300 km area from where I live, that makes a PDA send not so different from delivering it to USA)

And this is what I decided to do.

Instead of waiting Monday morning (it's Sunday now) and afraid to receive a "TELECA" answer, tuned with the rest of HTC/Qtek support organization, I decided to send my device to US guys at pocketpctech.com.

With some clicks, that I show you, I'll probably have a courier, next week, that will pick up my PDA and give me it back repaired. All by credit card.

I don't know what will happen and how the Americans will take care of my device (I'll tell you, of course); I don't want to use bad words on this blog, but darling, I'm really p---ed off of the bad quality of services here in Europe.

I don't understand why European consumers/customers associations have got a so weak power confronted to the one of American analogs.

Is possible to sell a product in a country, and provide a so bad organized support network or don't provide it at all?

Ok. HTC jewels are nice tools. But you're sure, after what you've seen, that's the right choice for you or, even worse, for your company?

This blog's open. So if HTC wants to reply, we'll sure evaluate their reasons.

Hello,
I'm the IT Pros of the Legal Firm that subscribed the contract in subject.
Since they decided to deploy a Remote Assistance on their machine, I checked the system downstream/upstream rate.
Downstream is about 1 Mb/sec (not really the cutting edge, but they don't care about this).

Upstream is a shame: a top rate of 32 Kb/sec!
The amount of the contract these lawyers and attorneys subscribed a lot of time ago, is about 30 Euros/month.
For the same price, competitors grant an average upstream rate of 256 Kb/sec.
So, please, check these customers MUX records and set up a larger upstream rate.

From time, Tiscali downrate grew up to reach the promised 6 Mb/sec (even if slowed down from typical Tiscali net jam); uprate, otherwise, remained the same.
To oher Tiscali customers in the same area and with the same ADSL subscriptions, different Performances are granted.
Please, let me do my job and don't push me to force my customer to give up with Tiscali services.

sono la consulente IT dello Studio Legale titolare del contratto in oggetto (6Mega ex 2).
Avendo optato per un tipo di assistenza in remoto, ho misurato la capacità d downstream e upstream del sistema.
Il downstream è mediamente attorno al megabit/sec (e questo può pure andare anche se tutt'affatto brillante).
L'upstream è scandaloso: 32 kbit/sec di punta massima.
Il contratto che i miei clienti hanno sottoscitto oramai molto tempo fa, ha un importo di circa 30 Euro/mese ivati.
Per quelle cifre vs. concorrenti garantiscono un upstream, magari non sempre garantito, ma più o meno attorno ai 256 kbit/sec.
Vi prego di verificare il Record del mio cliente sul Mux locale e di apportare i necessari aggiornamenti di banda.
Nel corso del tempo, infatti, il downstream si è evoluto (anche se strozzato dalle storiche congestioni tiscaliane dei server), l'upstream è rimosto all'epoca dei 56k.
Ad altri clienti Tiscali, in diverse zone di Padova, sono garantite, con analoghi abbonamenti, Performance ben diverse.
Vi prego di lasciarmi lavorare con agilità e di non costringermi a consigliare in maniera radicale il cliente.
