Maybe it’s the 90s child in me, but I’ve always loved the look of an untucked button-down under a sweater. But get the proportions just right without looking bulky can be tricky. Brochu Walker’s layered v-neck is just the throw-and-go solution I’ve been looking for. This all-in-one top makes getting that perfect fall layered look a snap and it’s way more comfortable, too. I love how warm and soft this sweater feels! It’s easy to style with slim cut jeans or flared pants, but I think it looks very cool with an extra long slip skirt like the one I’m wearing here (this one is similar). I’m a big fan of the chunky loafer trend this season so naturally this pair was my footwear of choice.

Brochu Walker has a bevy of these pre-layered tops, all of which give an effortless vibe. Personally, I’ve got my eye on this one next!

3 work-friendly ways to style a leather skirt

If you asked me 10 years ago if I’d even consider wearing a leather skirt to work, the answer would have been a solid “no.” But times have changed, workplace dress codes are (significantly) less stuffy, and I’m certainly not complaining!

If you’ve been on the fence, consider dipping your toe into the “office leather” pool with this very classy, very appropriate faux leather skirt from Brochu Walker. I was honestly amazed by how many ways I could style it. Three options below…

I’ll kick it off with an easy 90’s-inspired combo that transcends seasons: a vibrant knit polo and chunky soled loafers. I love the long cuffs and exaggerated collar on this polo and it comes in green too!

For a cozier vibe, throw on an oversized sweater vest and clogs. I switched out the leather tie for a belt here to match the more rugged look of the chunky knit and shoes.

And finally, you can go for a more polished look with a clean black and white palette. I styled mine with a silk blouse, two-tone brogues and an eye-catching bag (this one is similar!).

It’s hard to believe fall is just around the corner when it still feels so much like summer. Thankfully I am in no way ready to put away the “new” pieces I just picked up a couple weeks months ago.

I started a new job this spring and the M.M. LaFleur DC showroom came to my rescue (as they often do) with a collection of pieces that are both office appropriate and commuter friendly. I’ve been wearing M.M. LaFleur for years and I love that they always use high quality fabrics in an interesting mix of textures and prints. They mix and match extremely well together, making getting dressed a no-brainer. They’re easy to clean too!

As you can see, they all easily transition from work to weekend. And I certainly see outfit possibilities well into fall, too. The colorful (washable!) silk slip dress layers over my favorite tee just as easily as it pairs with this wonderfully structured cardigan. And the micro gingham print trousers work with those pieces just as well. Lately I’ve been wearing them with sandals, but on cooler days I’ve been loving them with these loafers.

I dunno about you, but I find something very satisfying about a capsule wardrobe that makes me just as excited to style moving into a new season, as it did the season before. Thanks M.M. LaFleur inviting me to shop the DC showroom (and for making it so easy to shop my closet)!

5 Dinner Outfit Ideas

Here are 5 of my favorite recent dinner outfits for a night out, a get together with friends, a cozy evening at home, and everything in between! These are usually the outfits I have the most fun with. I love playing with bold colors and prints like this cobalt knit dress or this scarf print turtleneck. Or sometimes it’s as simple as adding a cute sparkly shoe like these mary janes to an otherwise classic cardigan and jeans combo. Since we’re in a transitional season where temperatures fluctuate, I’ve been wearing boots with many of my dinner outfits, like this 90s-inspired style or these statement cowboy boots. I also like adding eye-catching layering pieces to skirts, like a fitted leather jacket or an oversized bright sweater. See ’em in action below!
