The ear hat ornament set was designed by Disney Design Group artist Costa Alavezos and is a limited edition.

Alavezos told the Disney Parks Blog that he selected some of the most memorable floats from the parade for the ornaments, including the ‘To Honor America’ float. That particular float is the longest in the parade and he chose to focus on the bald eagle for the ornament.

The entire set features five ornaments that light up, giving fans their very much own smaller version of the iconic parade. There is a limited edition size of 600 sets and the ornaments will be released at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in August. The Disney Parks online store will also carry the ornament set at a yet-to-be-announced date.

The special programming also includes new series premieres, themed nights, and a fan-generated event called Chicken I Dare You.

Chicken I Dare You features pro athlete Dwight Howard along with Disney XD stars and fan favorite costume character Chicken. Viewers can visit DisneyXD.com/IDareYou and vote for the star they want to see dare The Chicken to complete a random and hilarious act. Dares are set to air Monday nights from June 24 until August 26.

Beginning July 22, Disney XD will premiere a primetime sports-themed events featuring top talent from the NFL, NASCAR, and X Games. The network has also teamed with the X Games to create four specials that will feature stars and events from the X Games, and a behind-the-scenes look at the games.

New series for the summer include Marvel’s Avengers Assemble which premieres Sunday July 7 at 11 a.m. ET. On July 8 the channel is premiering new monster truck-themed episodes of Kickin’ It, Crash & Bernstein, and Lab Rats. Right now fans can visit the Disney XD page and play Disney XD: Titans on the Track, an action-packed online gaming adventure that takes place at a monster truck rally where players race for the gold while performing stunts. Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. debuts August 11, and the Disney Tryathalon premieres August 12.

A Disney Channel showcase kicks off August 9 with a special screening of Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel. The show features Phineas, Ferb, Perry the Platypus, Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man and is the first Disney and Marvel animated crossover. In the special, the Marvel superheroes come to Danville after Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s latest “inator” invention removes their super powers. Phines and Ferb team up with the heroes in order to defeat super villains Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom, and M.O.D.O.K.

On August 10, bikers and surfers from the new Teen Beach Movie will come together on the dance floor at the Disney Channel booth for a ‘Surf Crazy’ fan dance. Teen Beach Movie debuts on Disney Channel July 19.

And on August 11, Disney Junior fans will be able to meet characters from Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. There will also be sneak peek of new Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts in Stage 28.

Disney Channel and Disney XD stars will be signing autographs for fans during the Expo. Some of the stars scheduled to appear include Cole Jensen and Tim Lagasse (Crash & Bernstein), Tyrel Jackson Williams and Billy Unger (Lab Rats), Jason Earls, Leo Howard, and Olivia Holt (Kickin’ It), Jake Short and Sierra McCormick (A.N.T. Farm), Zendaya and Roshon Fegan (Shake It Up), Bridgit Mendler and Jason Dolley (Good Luck Charlie), G Hannelius and Blake Michael (Dog With A Blog), and Skai Jackson and Cameron Boyce (Jessie).

Musical performances scheduled for the event include Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie) and R5 (featuring Ross Lynch from Teen Beach Movie and Austin & Ally).

The D23 Expo takes place August 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Tickets are available at http://www.D23Expo.com. Admission is $47 for a one-day adult ticket, and $37 for children ages 3-12. Admission includes access to all experiences and entertainment including the Disney Legends Ceremony. Tickets can be purchased for one day or for the full three days of the Expo.

Disney’s Planes tells the story of Dusty, a plane with dreams of racing and a fear of heights. Dane Cook provides the voice of Dusty as part of cast of all-stars including Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Disneytoon Studios has been producing series based films for more than 20 years, including the popular Tinker Bell animated films. Last year’s Secret of the Wings was the first 3D movie for the studio. In Disney’s Planes the filmmakers, led by veteran animator Klay Hall, found inspiration in the world of the Cars films and created a high octane and high flying world for Dusty and his friends.

Look for Disney’s Planes in 3D when it comes to theaters August 9.

The sequel, previously titled The Muppets…Again, has now changed its title to Muppets Most Wanted. The film focuses on the Muppets as travel around Europe on tour. However, things take a chaotic turn as the Muppets become entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine, the World’s Number One Criminal and Kermit’s doppelgänger. The new title seems to be a much better match for this zany plot, and makes us even more excited to see what the Muppets have in store.

Muppets Most Wanted will debut in theaters March 21, 2014.

First announced were a few changed release dates for upcoming Disney films. The upcoming Saving Mr. Banks, originally set for release on December 20 of this year, will now first debut on December 13 in limited release instead, before debuting on December 20 nationwide as previously scheduled. Also changed was the release date for Brad Bird’s film Tomorrowland, which will now be released on December 12, 2014 instead of December 19.

Disney also set release dates for a few upcoming films, some of which we hadn’t heard much about yet. The studio’s adaptation of Into the Woods was officially given a release date of December 24, 2014. In addition, Disney’s adaptation of the classic children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was given a release date of October 10, 2014. The adaptation will be produced in part by the Jim Henson Company, and is currently set to star Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. Finally, Disney also set a release date for The Hundred-Foot Journey, which will be produced in part by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg. Based on the book by Richard C. Morais about an Indian boy in France who becomes a chef’s apprentice to his father’s rival, the film will be released on August 8, 2014.

Finally, Disney announced a few new films slated for production that we hadn’t yet heard about. While Disney’s Planes has still yet to be released in theaters, Disney announced that a sequel to the film, entitled Planes: Fire & Rescue, will be debuting in theaters July 18, 2014. In addition, Disney teased two currently-untitled Marvel films, which will be released in theaters on May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017.

Disney Food Blog gave a thorough first look at the renovated location, which now features Starbucks’ entire traditional drink menu in addition to a variety of food options. Guests will be able to choose from both Starbucks pastries and some traditional Disney food options. Also on the menu are a selection of breakfast sandwiches, as well as quick service meal combinations for guests using the Disney Dining Plan.

While the location does resemble a traditional Starbucks in its various menu items and methods of preparation, the refurbished Bakery also stays true to the theming of Main Street and the original eatery’s decor. Much like the Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe in Disney California Adventure, the “new” Main Street Bakery still blends in with its surroundings in the parks, keeping in touch with Main Street’s turn-of-the-century theme.

The short presentation was held May 31 at Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre for a closed audience of Disney Theatrical staffers and others connected to the production. Conceived and directed by Alex Timbers, who recently co-directed Peter and the Starcatcher for Disney, the show featured over 85 Muppets performing classic Muppet songs with a variety of set pieces. Though Timbers conceived of the Muppet performance while working on Starcatcher, the presentation was timed to take place in May due to the overlapping availability of Timbers, the Muppets (who recently wrapped shooting on the new Muppets sequel), and the New Amsterdam Theater, which is currently empty prior to the Broadway debut of Aladdin.

The test presentation was done to determine whether or not it would be feasible for the Muppets to perform in a live theatrical context, as a Muppet performance requires juggling all the challenges of a traditional live performance with the puppetry demands of the Muppets and their performers, including audience sightlines so as to hide the Muppeteers. The presentation comes a little over a year after the Muppets’ successful concert at Carnegie Hall, in which the Muppets performed live in an informal concert setting.

The presentation reportedly went well, with Disney Theatricals president Thomas Schumacher saying he was “intrigued.” There is currently no word yet on if or when the stage production may come to fruition, but we’ll keep you posted on this incredibly exciting possible show.

The series stars Bridgit Mendler as Teddy Duncan and focuses on the everyday antics and adventures of the Duncan family. Other cast members include Jason Dolley (P.J.), Bradely Steven Perry (Gabe), Mia Talerico (Charlie), Leigh-Allyn Baker (Amy), and Erick Allen Kramer (Bob).

Good Luck Charlie debuted in 2010 and helped launch Mendler’s musical career. The show has been a hit since it debuted, and the December 2011 movie Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas was the most watched live-action cable movie of the year. Season four just started in April with an episode featuring a guest appearance from The Muppets.

Episodes of the show will continue to air throughout early 2014 and will remain on the daily schedule of the Disney Channel worldwide.

D23 recently announced that Thomas Schumacher, president and producer with Disney Theatrical Productions is hosting the musical event Broadway and Beyond. This event will feature a lineup of stars from several Disney Broadway productions. The stars will perform songs from the musicals they starred in as well as classic tunes from the Disney on Broadway musical catalogue.

Stars scheduled to appear include Heidi Blickenstaff (The Little Mermaid), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast), Merle Dandridge (Tarzan and Aida), Josh Strickland (Tarzan), and Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King).

This one-night performance is scheduled for Friday, August 9, at 6:30 p.m. on Stage 23.
