Mountjoy Square will close on Monday at 5.15pm

Late nights are Tues / Wed / Thurs until 9.30pm.

Cathal Brugha St will close on Thurs. at 5.30pm

Late nights are Mon / Tues / Wed until 9.00pm

Rathmines will close on Wednesday at 5.30pm

Late nights are Mon / Tues / Thurs until 9.30pm.

The libraries will close in the afternoon on Thursday 22nd December and re-open in the morning of Tuesday 3rd January 2012. Term time late nights will operate on days we are open.

E books at DIT Libraries

Many of the e-books to which the Library offers access may now be found in the OPAC, with direct linking.

All recent acquisitions appear in the “new books” lists which are accessed by library name.

These may be found on the first page of the OPAC.

A comprehensive e-book only list is available.
The full range of the Library’s e-books collections can also be found on this page.

Disruption of Library networked services

DIT Library apologise to our patrons and to our library staff that so many library training session were disrupted this week.

Information Services are resolving service problems with network access and in particular with internet connectivity. This is related to the volume of activity, particularly between 12pm and 3pm. Please be assured that they continue to work to identify the specific cause, and resolve the issue. Some investigations of the firewall will mean disruptions to service in the coming days.

DIT IS services advise you may experience difficulty accessing our library services tonight, between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

Take a break from the rock and roll mayhem of the summer, and remember that DIT library service is up and running during June July and August.

Registration Procedure in July.

DIT registration procedures in July are different to those previously available.

For the small number of services not currently available online, the Registration Service will provide face-to-face service during the month of July - for, stamping of various forms such as medical, social welfare, children allowance etc, and issuing of replacement ID cards. This service will be available as follows:

Location: Registration office, ground floor, Aungier Street
Days of operation: Tuesdays and Thursdays during July (arrangements for August will follow at a later date)
Opening hours: 10am until 11 30am

Irish Times epaper available at home

No need to call into your Gentlemans' Club to leaf through the Irish Times before lectures anymore.
All DIT Staff and students can flick through "the paper of record" on laptop or tablet with your morning coffee. The epaper offers you nifty click to flick arrows on the bottom of the screen

Simply go to the library website and click through the a-z database links to the Irish Times, type in your University ID. and library PIN when requested, and there you are.
As we Irish Times readers say, Madam, is this a record?...

Library Ireland Week March 7-13 2011

Hot on the heels of the Academy Awards we bring you Library Ireland Week.
This 32 county event showcases technology to touchy feely in Irish libraries.
Events include workshops, multimedia events and poetry readings.

The Library, DIT Kevin street is at the core of the Dublin celebrations. Off the streets combines the visual art of Colm Desmond with the literary art of Oran Ryan. Tonight, award winning poet Greagoir O Duill gives a bilingual presentation from his recent work. There will be a further reading from Oran Ryan, and a chance to discuss the exhibited work with Colm Desmond on Friday 11th March. ........As we say around here.....

Searcher - a one stop shop for accelerated full text results

Searcher allows DIT users to accelerate your searching across up to 16 DIT library databases at once, with more databases to be added in the next few weeks. A list of the databases covered is available on the Advanced Search page.

Results can be emailed or downloaded to a citation reader.
Searcher removes duplicate results, and then weighs the relevance of each result.
Define your search using including specific phrases and complex Boolean operators.
Advanced search - search for the precise details needed, like an author name or a publication date.
