The ‘less is more’ red carpet approach works better for some, however there is nothing wrong to go ‘all out’. Never stop yourself because you think that something is too much. Most importantly, if you have a formal event coming up, plan well in advance. Don’t leave it to the very last minute, custom made dress will take at least 1-2 months to complete. Make alterations and practice wearing your dress and heels. Many women opt for dresses that they typically do not wear for night time events. As such, not only does the dress usually need to be tailored, but you need to practice moving, sitting and walking comfortably in the dress.

I was wide awake last Saturday early morning at 5am, after reading this heart-warming email from one of my lovely bride. Totally overjoyed and I must admit I felt so touched after reading it, couldn’t wait to post the email straight away here!

Our experience meeting her the first time at the wedding exhibition was great, had the chance to meet her friendly and supportive mum as well as her father-in-law. She has been such an understanding bride (we love her couture style too!) and she knows exactly what she wants. She’s a sweetheart!

It was quite challenging at first far away here in UK communicating with via emails and phone calls, somehow we manage to get the understanding and finally create the masterpiece for her special day! We were truly honoured to play a major role in helping her to create her dream wedding dress and most importantly to get to know her better. Ok folks, let’s hear it from her…

“After my surprise proposal on 18^th March 2011, all I can think about is my wedding dress. Would it be a rental? A couture? I had a lot of help from my mom on the wedding planning but the one thing that I requested for a 100% control is my dress. I want it to be the only outstanding thing during my wedding so eventually, I turned into a bridezilla.

I have scouted many bridal galleries in KL and none of the dress gave me the “wow” factor. And of course it was always a bride’s dream to wear a couture wedding dress but not every bride can afford it. The 1^st time I met Carol from Diva Darling was during a wedding fair in July 2011. My friend highly recommended her work. I fell in love with her sample dresses immediately. I was fortunate enough to be offered a promotion which consists of 1 wedding gown, 1 evening dress and 1 mother of the bride dress for a fraction price of 1 piece of designer dress. I found some designs from the internet and run it through with Carol and I was thrilled when she told me that her seamstress is able to make the dress according to the design I gave her. Even though Carol was in the UK at the time, she was very helpful in informing me on the progress of the dress.

I have to say that the workmanship was flawless and the detailing was gorgeous. I knew from the look of my guests when I was wearing my dresses that I was stunning. My mom and I received tons and tons of compliments during my wedding. Ultimately, my wedding day was the happiest day of my life but it wouldn’t be complete without my perfect dresses from Diva Darling.

Here we are at the beginning of May, a month that promises to be eventful. We chose some fun styles this month - from bold and bright to fun and feisty, these hard-working hotties are beginning to shift from spring into summer. Rest assured we are not only thinking of ourselves when picking them out, dear readers!

Pastels, huge fashion trend for summer 2012

In the fashion magazine lately, or if you have been window shopping at your local mall - you will see ‘pastels’ are a huge fashion trend for summer 2012. You may be looking for a little inspiration in regards to how you should wear these pretty shades this summer. These hues can often be tough - if done incorrectly, they can end up washing you out… a big no-no. Here are some tips, tricks, and inspiration on how to rock a variety of pastel shades!

1. Try pairing different shades of a hue together e.g. if you are wearing a light peach top, try incorporating a garment that is a shade darker (yet still peach coloured)! By doing this you will be adding more dimension to your look, rather than just having the peach top blend right into your skin!

Which colour combination is your favourite? Mine is pink and mint!

2. Baby yellow is one of my favourite hues to rock, but also the most difficult. You can try to pair it with grey or blue. For some reason these two colours really compliment each other while providing a great contrast of colours.

3. The most easiest to wear – pink and mint! They look great alone, together, or paired with a variety of other colours. I think a splash of brown will look fabulous with light pink!

I love the Easter greens, warm yellows, flirty peaches and powdery pinks and lavenders.

Casual pastels – nice combination!

I think the new palette for spring is refreshing. For something a little less dramatic (if you don’t want to be too bold – just pick one piece and keep the fresh look by pairing it with crisp whites or warm light greys. Will you be rocking pretty pastels this summer and which shade will you pick?

We have tweeted and posted the ZARA teaser in our PS assignment recently and as usual, ZARA - the Spanish international fashion brand always does its thing and yes, super-gorgeous collection for this Spring/Summer 2012 in their outlets here (not sure if they have released the same thing in Asia) to grab.

I am a huge fan of ZARA – high fashion trends, the fact that they are dominant on the catwalks, the textiles, silhouettes and detailing almost similar to newly released designer labels (most of the time!). They have gorgeous pieces from clothing to shoes to accessories and have hit the trends bang on the head.

It’s not just the father of bride who is feeling the pinch as weddings become more elaborate with long weekend affair, bridesmaids are shouldering larger costs as well. For some die-hard wedding fans, it’s all worth it to spend extravagant hen parties, spa weekend etc., but for the more budget-minded maids in the wedding party, it can bring a lot of stress to what’s supposed to be a happy occasion.

Prada seems to be our constant label these days, it’s an interesting experience to get this special wallet in Harrods men’s department. When I phoned in, the SA was so polite and ‘patient’ to get all the details I needed. The only funny thing happened was, the wallet’s item code seems to be a little bit messed up in Prada’s website. Big thank you again to our lovely client, she loves this Saffiano leather wallet and most of all, her hubby got it on time! Phewww…

This Saffiano leather wallet has a luster and soft, grainy feel to it unlike any other leather made. It has eight credit card slots, dual billfold compartments, and two larger slots to keep all your valuables together. Saffiano leather seems to be pretty low maintenance and durable, as long as you wipe it gently with soft, dry cloth to get rid of dust and dirt. You can also use leather conditioner to maintain the softness and to prevent the wrinkles and cracks but don’t overdo it.

After your wedding dress, a wedding ‘veil’ is one of the most defining aspects of your bridal appearance. I always advise my new clients/brides to consider selecting a veil that compliments their wedding dress. You will also need to consider how it will work with your dress, face shape, body shape, hairstyle and wedding location.

In this entry, we are going to give some tips/guidance on choosing wedding veil. All you need is to assess your wedding dress –for example, do you have back details that you’d like to reveal or embellished bust panel? A simple guide to remember girls, if you have quite a simple dress you can carry off a more elaborate veil. However if your dress is very detail, a simple veil often looks more flattering.

Wedding dresses fall under several different styles and your veil needs to work with this style. The ‘classic’ style, which is formal, symmetrical and usually elaborate in some way. The ‘romantic’ style possesses an element of softness and usually incorporates lots of attention to detail. The ‘sophisticated’ style is an understated look that is free from fussy details and the ‘eclectic’ look is creative with unexpected touches.

So, how do you choose the length of your veil? The two most popular veil lengths chosen by brides at the moment are ﬁngertip (or hip) length and cathedral length. Long veils like cathedral and chapel veil can be very dramatic and deﬁnitely has the wow factor but can be quite cumbersome, especially when it comes to sitting down for your meal or dancing at your evening reception. Let’s see the types of veils available here;

1. Shoulder length – veil is around 20 inches in length and perfectly suited to dresses that have bust, waist, or lower back details. Remember, they are often too informal for classic, formal dresses.

2. Elbow length – approximately 25 inches long and it falls around the elbow. It works well with romantic ball gown style dresses, as it ends where the fullness in the skirt begins.

3. Waist Length - veil just slightly longer then an elbow length veil. It suits most dress styles that do not feature a train.

4. Fingertip Length - one of the most popular lengths, when you stretch your arm out it reaches around your fingertips. They are approximately 36 inches long and also suit majority of dress styles.

5. Knee Length - approximately 45 inches and reaches to around your knees. It looks good with mid calf length wedding dresses.

6. Chapel Length - slightly shorter then cathedral length and veils still drape onto the floor. They are typically around 90 inches long and best complement with dresses that feature a train.

7. Cathedral Length - the longest and most formal, these veils are usually around 120 inches long and some extend up to nine feet along the ground. They work best with full length, classic wedding dresses.

8. Mantilla – a Spanish style lace veil that covers the bride from head to toe and falls from the crown, suitable for classic wedding dresses with train.

You can choose different tiers available from one to three tier veil. The choice is largely dependent on the style of your dress. As the spring breeze gently blows over us, the fresh spring fashion gradually squeezed into our lives. The dull clothes for winter are unconsciously taken off and taking the place is the fresh fashion spring clothing. Yes. We all like to welcome the fresh 2012 spring with the fresh new look. Here let’s say good bye to the dull winter and welcome the fresh spring with bright colours.

One way to welcome spring is with colours (fresh candy colours) and patterns. We can pick fitted tops in bright red, pink, green or yellow and add a sweetheart or deep V-neckline. This allows you to ditch the drabness of winter and show a little skin, but still keep you warm enough as night approaches.

Again, the over commercialised day (which you all know) the Valentines Day is here. Not being too vain or philosophical about it, but I'm not exactly those "all gooey to show your love on Valentines day!" kind of people. It’s not wrong to celebrate it, but it’s always good to do little things everyday – remind us to appreciate our spouse and loved ones.

Men everywhere wrecking their brains on what a woman wants and if they're romantic enough and exactly how expensive romanticising is. Since the media years and years ago embedded in the minds of every human being that Feb 14th is the day of oestrogen, all that's pink....les femmes! Which turned most women into lurve freaks. I'm sure at one point it was an occasion where love was celebrated, not just love between couples but love altogether.

For all the single ladies or men out there, don’t stress out if the pressure is high on this V-day. Treat V-day as ME DAY!! Pamper yourself to the highest degree and invite all you singletons to do the same. Go on a mini holiday, take a couple days off and go somewhere, preferably someplace full of nature and be one with the world itself and not the part that's busy wrecking their brains and bank accounts for gifts.

Ok I think that’s enough from me, you’ll probably think that I’m being cynical. Mmm, what’s my love disclaimer? It would be my participation, the exchange of tokens of love that are simple (really, very simple) and thoughtful. I’m going to have dinner at home with hubby, I don’t have to go and spend a fortune to an expensive restaurant. We plan to share the duties and spend time together in the kitchen –COOKING.

Thank you very much for all the lovely dresses. I personally love the wedding dress so much, simple yet elegant. My family, relatives and friends said it’s beautiful and it fits me well and I wore it without any worries - made to fit my body.

I will keep the gown, even though some of my friends asked me to sell it out but not for me. It would be my sweet memory forever. The evening dress just matched my whole theme of the nite, I managed to do the "Baskin Robbins" ice-cream colour matching.

As the holiday season for most Westerners winds down, China’s most festive, fun, and important holiday is about to kick-off. The Chinese New Year, to be celebrated this year on January 23rd, is fast approaching. Where will you be celebrating the Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year?

This time around, I’m looking forward to going home, and eating some of my mother-in-law’s home-cooked food! A short trip back and will definitely spend my time wisely. Get ready to ring in the year of the dragon as I’m ready to fly off this Sunday to celebrate Chinese New Year. While the holiday takes place on January 23rd, we have the privilege to unbox the new Prada Saffiano leather wallet. We got this new baby of our client in London and yes, they are only 3 left when we get into Bond Street. We’ve been scouting around and finally we found it!!

Our trip to London this time was a memorable one, we had an amazing wedding party of our close friend, Mel and she looks amazingly beautiful.
