At the age of 23 Carl Dau began training as a goldsmith. In 1972 immediately after earning his master goldsmith's degree at the Hanau State Academy and being awarded a gifted students' educational grant, he went to Berlin to complete further studies at the Berlin College of Fine Arts. Since 1996, Dau has worked with his team in his studio in Berlin.

Carla Caruso Jewelry is handmade in a small studio outside Northampton, Massachusetts. Her goal is simplicity: to distill an idea to its essence and create timeless jewelry that wears beautifully. Though Caruso graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in glass sculpture, she started experimenting with metalsmithing, incorporating glass jewelry into her work, and was hooked. Frederic Sage began his career creating designs for a leading textile manufacturer where he perfected his eye for color and pattern, designing prints that were distributed worldwide. Eventually, with guidance from his father, an importer of precious gems, Sage began to pursue his childhood dream of designing and creating fine jewelry.

Sage continued his education by studying Art History and Textile Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. With an eye for color, Sage created designs that were distributed not only in America, but also in Europe and other nations. During that time, he traveled to more than fifty countries, and lived in cities such as Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris and Milan.
