See What Had Happened Was..

2014-05-19T11:00:00.000-04:00

I get bored. Easily. Not with thrifting. Just with talking ONLY about thrifting. Thank you guys so much for supporting us here, but there's so many more things that I'm talented in that I'd also like to share with you. So I've been working on a space here, to share. Yes, there will still be thrifting stories, experiences and fashion but there will be more. We'll chat about parenting, living this crazy thing called life and I'll share my views on relationships, fashion and beauty and of course my favorite topic, food.

It's simple really, I just can't, won't and hate boxes. So, if you're not busy, how about hopping over to the new site and chill with me for a while?

Green with Envy

2014-02-17T11:00:00.000-05:00

Envy. That green-eyed monster is deep isn't she? She weakens you, exposes your self-esteem issues without you even knowing it and makes you admit that somewhere in your life, you're lacking. You may not acknowledge it or even believe it to be true; because then you'd have to admit that you're a hater. But, admitting it is the 1st step. I've learned instead of being envious of someone and their blessings, it'll be more beneficial to continuously work on me and achieving my greatness. Why would I want someone else's blessings when God has my very own waiting for me? It's up to me to open my arms, eyes, heart and most importantly my hands to receive it.

Just a lil truth to kick off your Monday.

What A Snow Day

2014-01-29T13:14:00.000-05:00

It's snowing in the South! And I'm really excited about it, like I really, really am. But, I'm most excited at the fact that I got a free day off from work! Won't He do it! Right now, I'm typing this post lounging in my leopard onesie chilling super hard in my bed. I'm going to enjoy this because it's back to work tomorrow!

How crazy is it that I was able to get away with removing my jacket to take this pic on Sunday, and now today there's snow! Snow people! Where's my hot chocolate!

Filling In the Gaps

2014-01-27T11:00:00.000-05:00

Hey there beautiful people! Have you ever forgotten something or had so much going on in your life til you're so consumed with the UNimportant things, that the IMportant things slip your mind? And no, I'm not talking about remembering to pick up milk from the grocery store or remembering to pay a bill. No, I'm talking about remembering you, your soul...your greatness.

Protecting your soul should be just as important as the rhetorical things you encounter in your every day life. Remembering your greatness, forgetting your past and accepting that you truly are awesome should be a part of your to-do list daily. Right under honoring God.

And don't you dare forget to smile. You have much to be smiling about wouldn't you agree? If you're reading this then that means you're here today -still among the living!

Go ahead and give him praise!

Our lives are filled with so many distractions that's caused gaps or weakened the core of our very being. But, if we remember what's truly important in this life we been blessed with, we can begin to fill in the gaps and be happy, successful, receive love and most importantly give it.

I've said all that to say...We've found a church, that speaks to our soul and dagnabit we are excited! Yeah, I could've said that in the beginning but I'm feeling Christianlife, bear with me people. :)

HUMP Day!

2013-12-04T11:00:00.000-05:00

Don't you just love that Geico commercial with the camel?? I feel like that camel today. The week is almost over and I am anticipating the weekend like it's Christmas. Which is a level of excitement like no other! This time of year always makes me so, so happy.

I've already pulled out my Destiny's Child Christmas cd and it's in heavy rotation. My pantry is filled with hot chocolate because I have to have a cup every night before bed, and I always have the desire to bake cookies! Thank God my waist line and hips put a stop to that foolishness.

#Giving Tuesday

2013-12-03T09:00:00.000-05:00

Happy Tuesday Thrift Divas!

We are so excited to be partnering with Goodwill Industries for their #Giving Tuesday campaign. I'll be the first to admit that when we're out thrifting at our favorite Goodwill stores or just donating items, it feels good to know that while we're finding cute clothes or getting rid of unwanted stuff, we're actually helping people in need!

Did you know?

When you donate stuff to your local Goodwill - a used sweater, CDs, furniture, or electronics - you support Goodwill's effort to provide a variety of employment services to people in need in your community. You also clear your own clutter as the same time!

Today (and everyday) Goodwill is encouraging everyone to give thanks by donating used foods to one of Goodwill's more than 2,700+ locations throughout the country. Don't forget that all donations are considered charitable tax-deductions.

Cool right?

And just to show you how far your donations can go, please check out this mini-documentary, which tells the story of someone whose life was transformed through their involvement with Goodwill.

"Candice"

Last year, Goodwill provided employment training, job placement, financial education, youth mentoring and more to 6.7 million people in the United States and Canada.

Check out how they do it:

Need to find a Goodwill? Through Goodwill's locator tool, it's easy for people to find their nearest Goodwill location, including stores, headquarters, job training centers and donation centers. You can also use their Donation Impact Calculator to see how every item you give has supported people who are seeking to earn jobs and build careers.

So what are you waiting on? Stop by your local Goodwill and shop or donate today! See you there!

Bargain Shopping

2013-12-02T11:00:00.000-05:00

Hi there Thrift Divas!

Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend as much as we did. We spent the entire weekend in Myrtle Beach with family and friends and had so much fun! So much fun!

Of course we were one of the crazy people who stood in line to catch those great Black Friday deals. Like this fringe boots that were on sale at Belk for $19 freaking dollars! Hell yes I'll stand in line!

F21 also had 50% off clearance. So this $5 sweater was a no-brainer; Copped the hell outta that!

A Classic Flow

2013-11-25T11:00:00.000-05:00

Hi There Fab Divas!

Who's ready for this three day work week? I sure am! Whenever the holidays come around, I always get a sense of excitement and gratitude of sorts. It's the time where, I know I'll spend much needed quality time with the people I love, eat really good food, get great gifts, and most importantly, get paid time off from work. Ain't that a blessing?

Let's talk about this dress. On our very first trip to the Salvation Army, my sis scored this super fab leopard dress. It was really a no-brainer when she saw it. It was definitely a must have moment.

Thrift Tips

2013-11-18T11:00:00.000-05:00

Hi There Fab Divas! No outfit posts today :-(. The weather here in Columbia was just not our friend this weekend. So, today we'll be sharing thrift tips to help you have a successful thrifting experience. thrifting:

1. Know where you're going. In other words, plan out what thrift stores you want to visit because you'll likely hit a few stores to find what you want.

2. Set a Budget. Thrifting can get out-of-hand once you start scoring those uber fabuless finds! We tend to set our budget as low as $20 if were just randomly out shopping. However, if we are on a serious thift trip, we aim to spend no more than $50.

3. Bring Cash. A lot of stores don't have credit. You don't want to risk losing a great buy because you have to run to the ATM! Believe me, I know!

4. Have an idea of what styles your hunting for. I usually have snapshots of Pinterest items on my phone to help me stay focused on what I'm looking for and avoid buying unnecessary items I'll probably never wear.

5. Bring a friend. We have the best time when there's a group of four or five of us shopping. Plus, 10 eyes are better than two. Bring friends who are familiar with your style and thrift for each other. That'll also help you navigate the store quicker, so you can move on to the next store(s).

6. Try on Everything. Especially the vintage items. I can't tell you how many times we've purchased something and brought it home to try on and find it doesn't fit! That's annoying!

7. Dress Comfortably! Leggings or skinny leg jean with a fitted shirt are perfect! This will allow you to try clothes on in the aisle instead of waiting on a dressing room.

8. Leave your children at home. Thrifting requires a lot of patience. You will go insane if you try to bring them with you. Ask my sister!

9. BE PATIENT. BE PATIENT. BE PATIENT...and did I say be patient? It will take hours. You cannot skim the racks - you must touch every piece! Sometimes things are hidden or even cuter close up. So take your time and explore dammit!

10. Wash EVERYTHING. Do I really need to elaborate?

Do you have any thrift tips you's like to share? Please leave them in the comments section!

Dee

Diane Von Furstenberg

2013-11-11T11:00:00.000-05:00

Hi There FabDivas!

You ever found something so great you wanted to keep it tucked away for yourself and never let anyone touch it ever? That's how I felt when I found this awesome Diane Von Furstenburg dress at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I absolutely love wrap dresses and to me, she is the wrap dress queen! So, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon her. I'm pretty certain I was foaming at the mouth.

Back to Basics!

2013-11-06T12:37:00.001-05:00

Basically fab that is. I'd been dying to find one of these leggings with the faux leather paneling on the front. I spent months looking in thrift stores, F21, Charlotte Russe and everywhere in between that would have them at a reasonable price. Then low and behold, during my weekly visit to Target's sale rack...there she was! Now typically, I'd scoff at paying $15 - cuz I'm a thrifter you know- but I wanted it...badly.

Once I got her home, I remembered this shirt with the faux leather collar and sleeve, I picked up earlier this year from the sale rack at JC Penney. Perfect match made in heaven right?

As a thrifter, have you experienced a "gotta have it" moment no matter the price? What's your dollar limit??

I'm A Survivor!

2013-11-04T11:00:00.000-05:00

Cue Destiny's Child please. Cuz that's who I'm channeling today.

"I'm not gone fight, I'm gone work harder! I'm a Survivor."

And I really am. We all are actually. There's something that's happened to each and everyone of us, that we probably thought we'd never get over...but look at us. Surviving, thriving...rising above anything or anyone who's tried to hold us down. You lost. We win!

Let's start with this shirt, shall we?

The sis thrifted this baby during our "Let's Go Thrifting" event (yes, we got our shop on too) last weekend at Palmetto Thrift. Was I angry that I didn't see it first? Absolutely! Am I glad she purchased it so I can borrow it? Damn right!

I found some cute blazers and stuff for the fall and here is my OOTD Leopard print blazer jacket by Jones New York $2.99. Chadwicks red silk blouse clearance out at $.99 and who would have thought I would find pants longe enough for me in Goodwill, these GAP pants fit me perfect at $2.99 . The Alex Marie leopard print shoes was purchase some years ago from Dilliards and this is my second time wearing them for $15.99, regular price $49.99. The earrings were given to me from Fashion Lobe at a natural hair event. Who says I have to match? I love the color blocks!

Stay tuned I purchased some other blazers and will be wearing them soon. Thanks to the Divas Thift Two sisters whom have started me on a new journey!
