"Make me an offer"...
I hear the voice of sin calling out seductively,
To all who care to listen.
Like the peacock on territorial display,
It spreads out its arsenal of attraction,
Ready to pull along its path of destruction,
All those who lack discretion.

For like a spider lurking in the shadows,
Its unsuspecting prey gets entangled in its web.
Never
showing compassion,
On the pitiable state of its captives.
Mercy! a word definitely missing,
In its dictionary of emotions.
Shush.... "Make me an offer".

Waiting at the entrance, she beckons on to all.

With wide open hands, she bade them come.
In an atmosphere of peace, together with love and unity,
She nurtures her own, yet never unwilling to reach out to the lost.

From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the same,
A comfort she provides without complains.
Into her loving hands, the stranded find succour.
Ever grateful to the creator who made her.

Never lacking in words of wisdom, never lacking in words of encouragement.
A home far away from home, she truly has become.
Oh! how I love this family,
So closely knitted into one, we her children are.
God bless Mother NCCF!

I am a star
Shinning in the night sky
I am star 'cos God has mae me so.
My duty to give the world my light
That the awesomwness of God,
Will forever be seen by men.

I am a star
Shinning in the sky,
Of course in the night,
I've got to shine
'cos only in the dark
My light can be appreciated.

I am a star
If you don't appreciate me
It doesn't stop me from being a star
My duty I must perform
To mankind and my creator.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

I sat up one morning pondering on this words;
"Dare to be different",
And wondered its essence in a season such as this:
A season that applauds evil and persecutes good,
A season that everyone does what seems right in their sight,
not minding the consequences,
A season that everyone wants to belong and no one wants to be left out,
A season were everyone follows the dictations of their heart and above all,
A season were the fear of God is obsolete....
I really pondered at these words,

"Dare to be different",
"why be different"?
I asked,
You can't succeed being different!
This voice kept saying, "a tree cannot make a forest".
True, it maybe that a tree cannot make a forest,
But I took solace in these words,
"Little drops of the rain makes a mighty ocean,"
which I interpreted as, "little drops of Righteousness makes a mighty ocean of Righteousness.
You know, Sodom and Gomorrah in the days of old would have been saved,
If at least ten People! were found Righteous.

"Dare to be different"!
These words kept resounding in my heart,
like the sounding bells of Westminster Abbey,
Urging me on even when I felt I shouldn't.
"What is this thing all about?"
"Don't you think it is stupid?"
I found myself asking.
"Come on, join them,"
this strong overwhelming voice kept saying,
struggling within me to be recognized.
"You can't beat them so join them," it said.
But then came this gentle small voice,
Not struggling for recognition but convincing enough to be heard saying,
"Thou shall not follow the multitude to do evil".

Oh dear!
How do I come out of this haze of voices?
but then I pondered on this question;
Are there benefits of daring to be different, and if there are, What are the costs? I asked.
To answer this question, the deeds of men like Solomon,
Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego came to my heart.
SOLOMON - he dared to be different by asking for wisdom to rule God's people instead of asking for fame,wealth, and power which other Kings would have asked for. For this reason, God blessed him with all.

DANIEL - Proposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's meat and in daring to be different from the other Hebrew Princes, himself and his colleagues - Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were blessed with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, ten times better than the wise men of Babylon.

Talking about prices to pay, there are, in daring to be different.

Joseph sold into slavery, and the dungeons of Eygpt;
Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced with the burning furnance and,
Daniel in the Lion's den one not to be easily forgotten.
Reflecting on these things, I said to myself there are benefits,
Indeed life time benefits of daring to be different.
Benefits that surpass the costs.
So, why should I faint?
Why should I grow weary of daring to be different!
for like Daniel, i have proposed in my heart to;
"DARE TO BE DIFFERENT".
And to this generation this is a clarion call;

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!!!

LIFE

I've always wondered at life;
Its beauty, its ugliness,
Its joy, its sorrows,
Its fairness, its biasness,
Its gains, its losses,
Its fullness, its emptiness,
Its light, its darkness,

Its successes, its failures,
Its laughter, Its pain,
Its hope of peace, its devastation.

A good crumbler of plans,
Yet an establisher of thoughts.
A never ending circus;
Of Mysteries and discoveries,
Myths and Legends,
Conquerors and vanquished.
A mixed grill it really is,
Holding humanity in the wheels of "Time and Chance",
Dictating the pace of events.
Surely life is a School,
And experience, our good old Teacher!

GOD'S LOVE

His love seeks to transform me
His love seeks to give me Joy
His love seeks to draw me nearer to Himself
When those I had loved, laboured and slaved for,
Disappointed and left me in the cold.
He came radiant
with love,
willing to give me all,
Because He loves me.

He loves me,
Just the way I am
He loved me,
When I did not deserve it.
I will always wonder,
At this LOVE so pure and true.
He truly loves me,
more than I can ever repay.

A DONKEY'S WISH

I am so gentle, burdened and heavy laden,
Yet willing to be subject;
I never complain 'cos that is my duty.

I look fragile and tender,
seeking for attention, but not finding any.
Indeed grossly misunderstood I am,
By the one who owns me.

A large reserve of strength,
I've got,
But a time to go slowly, I may desire.
Never! says my master's whip.

A little comfort, a little sleep,
Oh! how expensive it has become;
'Cos I feel too heavy to move.
Crack! comes Mr. whip

If I could but get a little love,
A little tenderness, a little care, a little freedom,
A delightful creature I surely will be.

But mankind has it all!
A burden bearer, a gentle saviour, and healer
A comforter, a friend and helper.
Yet he considers not his good fortune!

Downhill and uphill
My path has always been,
But I keep on going
Because I have a friend
whether I'm loudly praised
Or if critics should blame,
I have a constant friend
Who is each day the same.
I oft say to myself
When slightly discouraged,
"But you have a real friend",
And that grants me courage.
I'm not a good loser,
I really love to win
But either way I know
I have a changeless friend.

THE VOLCANO WITHIN

A sudden rumbling,
A great roar!
And out was spilled,
All that was welling up inside.
Consuming what lay within its path;
As it snaked down the valley of Human actions,
Making sure nothing escapes its mighty outburst;
While leaving
behind pain, darkness, and voidness,
In a framework of regrets;
Of the havoc done,
That cannot be corrected.

FAITH'S HALL OF FAME (HEBREWS 11)

The door opened for me to walk through;
For an invitation had been given to come tither.
Relunctantly I agreed to go.
Presenting my invitation at the door,
I sought the face of him who stood at the entrance,
To bid me proceed.

Plantarflexing courteously, the way in he showed me.
Stepping into the hall hesitantly, a breath-taking sight I beheld.
The hall glowed of an inexplicable light,
A glory beyond one's comprehension.
Still trying to fathom this great sight,

I saw their faces smiling at me, bidding me come forward.

Moving to the first, I saw him;
Abel! killed by his brother Cain,
But by faith gave an offering accepted by God.
Though no more, his face hung on this hall-way ever to be seen,
By generations yet unborn.

Next to him, could this be true?!
Enoch, never tasted death, because he was taken by God.
For by faith he pleased his Creator.
As I stood gazing in amazement at this man, who never died!
Noah caught my attention.
His ark speaking volumes of a wisdom that supercedes humanity.

Aha! this must be Abraham, smiling lovingly at me.
The father of all nations, The friend of God,
Of whose promises I am a partaker. Whoa!
"Oh no! don't hold her too long".
Mother Sarah called, eager to see me stand before her.
I beheld her who defied nature to conceive well past menopause.

The more I looked, the more I saw the endless chain of lovely faces,
Speaking greatly of a God who honours faith.
Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab,
The Judges, and the prophets of old.
David and the great women of faith.
All of these obtained a good report through FAITH!

THE WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

A dry rugged terrain,
A place not friendly for human habitation.
Spanning across it, the thorns and thistles,
Plants of no economic importance.
Giving you a hard time, throughout the journey.

Patched and uninviting,
lurking within it, the terrors of mankind.
Completely forsaken,
completely desolate in it,
A wandering soul could be.
Trudging through it at night, is never to be wished for again.

The experience so frightening,as well as challenging
Marching on tirelessly, a mission to accomplish;
for my Guide knows the way.
I wished for the better,
but I felt His gentle arms urging me on in His footsteps.

Strengthened by Him alone, on and on I moved.
Wondering when the journey will be over.
The answer: "when I'm through with making You".
"How Long?" "As long as you will require".
looking around me, a lesson to learn from the "Beasts of Burden";
All also made by my Guide.

Never complaining about their situation,
Rather finding this desolation, a delightful domicile.
What an irony! that so gentle-looking creatures,
would delight in so hostile a place.
Never willing to give it up for a better one.
I really have got a lot to learn!

I LOVE THE FATHER WHO HAS MADE THEM ALL

I love the rising of the sun
Ushering in the blessings of a new day,
Its radiance in the horizon so unfathomable;
In reflection of the one who made it.

I love the flowers of the field;
The cacophony of their colours, a beauty to behold,
Thankful always to their creator;
Who never fails to clothe them with splendour.

I love the birds that sing melodiously,
Giving praises just before dawn,
In tones music cannot fully comprehend;
To the one who never forgets
to provide for their needs.

I love the whole of creation,
Its sights and sounds, a mystery yet to be fully unraveled;
speaking volumes of its maker,
The handiwork of a supreme intelligence.

Oh! my soul, What more can you say?
Oh! my heart, what more can you ponder?
Oh! my mind, what more can you imagine?
For I love the Father, who has made them all!

I HAVE A STANDARD !!!

I'M NOT DOING IT !!!
WHY NOT, WHY WAIT ???

I respect my self too much
I'm saving it for marriage
I make life long decisions with my head, not hormones.
I don't owe it to anyone;
If you cared you wouldn't dare;
God's plan is the best.

I need real love
not a cheap substitute
I want you to love me not my body.
I'd rather bare my soul than my bottom;
Its a thrill that could kill.
Real men don' act like animals;
God's plan is the best.

Because I want a real honeymoon;
Any boy can, but a man can wait.
Because love is not an act, its a commitment;
Because several people will get veneral disease,
While doing it today.
What am I missing out on ?
Unwanted pregnancy! Guilt! Hurt! Disease!!!
Aids forever, Shameful death!
NO! God's plan is the Best!

If you really love me, you can accept "No".
I want to be accepted for who I am,
And not what I have to give.
I'm not ready for "Junior" yet.
Its just not worth it.
You don't want me, You want it!!!
I know God's plan is the best.

Rises without warning,
Yet not easily subdued.
Useful when harnessed properly,
Destructive if allowed to run wild.
But what is man without it?
when pregnant, it brings forth achievements,
And failure a product of its abortion.
Hear it calling
out strongly from within;
For goals yet to be attained,
Grounds yet to be broken,
And frontiers yet to be conquered.
Together with its twin appetite,
And brothers greed and covetousness,
A mighty havoc the create;
Unleashing terror on humanity, with so great a fury.
Indeed man is nothing without it;
For in it lies the path to greatness, prosperity, and success.

CONSISTENCY

PRACTICING WHAT YOU PREACH

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day.

I'd rather one should walk with me than merely show the way.

The eye is a better pupil, and more willing than the ear.
Fine counsel may be confusing, but examples are always clear.
And the best of all preachers, are the ones who live their creed.
For to see good put into action, is what everybody needs.
I soon can learn to do it, if you let me see it done.
I can watch you hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run,
And the sermon you deliver
may be wise and true,
But I'd rather get my lesson by observing what you do.

For I might misunderstand you, and the high advice you give,
But there's no misunderstanding how you act, and how you live.

REFLEXES

Oh! how I love the Reflexes,

A benevolent Spirit come to earth.
I planterflex uninvited,
Yet a welcomed steward.
For my sake you rob the mouth to pay the stomach,
And in my sorrows, you blink away my tears.
With you inside and outside I have no fears.
Please don't go for good
when you leave the Spinal Ventral Horns
'cos you're needed in this world of thorns.

The severe prick, is therefore a trick;
To pull you down it was plotted.
You don't even need to get it spotted,
Just throw your weight on the cross extensor reflex
In the after-discharge position, you conquer this pain telex.
Take a look at yourself in that state,
You'd agree no better price would have been paid.

Write not a dog off,
Because it fell off the roof.
Wait until after its righting reflex of its agility.

This is an index.
If it doesn't right itself up,

Then write it off.
Not outrightly! You might need a guard tonight.
Indeed its response to the challenge of Fight or Flight.

I learn of you to be humble,
so as not to get into trouble.
Early enough to work, yet prefers the back door,
When a distended bladder continues to disobey nature's law;
It receives the firing of the micturition reflex, again and again.
When the Lungs become too proud of air gain,
You need not shout, let the imprisoned air out!,
The Hering-Breuer-inflation reflex quietly does the job.
