I love chocolate and I always include in most deserts I make at home. Yesterday, as I was preparing for my daughter's birthday party I discovered we're out of chocolate. I always keep some in fridge but I forgot that I've used it all, then I remembered that granny used to make chocolate at home and I\ve never really tasted chocolate like what she made for us, I think this woman had her own magic secrets.

I started my search, and finally I could find a recipe that contains similar ingredients, as the one she was using. I've tried it and it was good but after doing some corrections, and the result was really good. The funniest thing is I had my own brand chocolate :)

You need

1 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup of butter "at room temperature"

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup full cream milk

2 tbsp flour

2 tbsp dried milk

1/2 cup water

1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions

In a pyrex bowl put butter and cocoa.

Use a hand mixer to mix chocolate and butter untill they are totally mixed forming a smooth paste.

Put a little amount of water in a cooking tray " and put on high heat and bring to boil then reduce heat and keep filling as water evaporates and it's level goes down.

Put the bowl into the hot water bath till it becomes hot.

remove away from heat "Avoid leaving the mixture to cook"

Add all other ingredients and keep mixing.

Pour in ice cube mold or use special mold.

But this recipe works for both to get clean dishes and sparkling glasses. You only need to increase the amount of washing soda a bit if you're using hard water. You might buy ingredients of the same price as the ready detergent you buy, but you'll get double the amount so you're saving about 50% "Not bad" besides you'll get free of commercial advertisements for products, and you'll get green friendly products. Have fun

The recipe is

1 cup Borax (Boric acid salt; such as: sodium borate)
1 cup Soda ash "Washing soda"
1/2 a cup kosher salt
1/2 a cup of citric acid "You need to add a whole cup for hard water"
You can prepare your own washing soda by baking baking soda at 350F for 15-20 minutes. Flatten baking soda in a baking tray lined with baking paper.
It's not a must to have a hundred ingredients, you can make perfumes with simple combinations of essential oils, but a delicate water-based perfume with a floral scent is easier and nicer and can be a good gift for the one you love.

Making your own perfume enables you to eliminate harmful chemicals or preservatives that are often found in synthetic fragrances, such as phthalates, which might cause health problems. A homemade, all-natural, water-based perfume is the best Green, Earth-friendly perfume. But keep in mind that you have to select flowers of hig fragrant. You can use jasmine, honeysuckle, lavender, or different coloured tea roses.

2 cups of chopped flowers (of one kind)

3 cups distilled water

A little dark bottle with a lid or a stopper

Procedure

1. Wash flowers' petals from dirt and sediment with tap water.

2. Tie flowers in the cloth and soak inside a bowl in distelled . Cover the bowl with the lid and let the flowers soak all overnight.

3. Next day, remove the lid and gently lift the flower pouch out of water. Squeeze the pouch over a small saucepan, extracting the flower-scented water. Simmer over low heat until you have about a teaspoon of liquid.

4. Pour the cooled water into the bottle and cap it.

N.B. The scent of this perfume will only remain for a month if stored in a cool, dark place. But you'll enjoy a green parfume for a month :)

You might want to try mixing a perfume with essential oils , or mix different scented water to get a new scent.
I know that detergents are not that expensive, but any money we can save now is a bonus besides you can make a huge amount of a very effective detergent in no time. If you're a mom you'll feel the difference when you really use it and find how effective it is and can remove stains the same like expensive detergents do. you can use any available bar of soap "not a must to be an expensive one".

N.B. If washing soda isn't avalable, you can prepare it. Simply line a baking tray with a baking paper sheet of paper, then put baking soda and flat it with a wooden rod or spoon. Heat it in a preheated 350 F oven for 15 minutes and "VOILA" you have your washing soda or soda ash :) by the way, soda ash is more expensive than baking soda.

Recipe for home made liquid washing machine detergent

You'll need

A bar of soap "around 100g by weight, more or less"

1 cup of borax (sodium borate or any boric acid salt)

1/2 a cup of washing soda (sodium carbonate)

Water

A stainless steel container

A plastick bucket with a lid

Procedure

Grate the soap bar and put into the stainless steel pan with 1 liter of water.

Heat gently till the soap is molten, but avoid boiling, you can use a wooden rod to stir.

Pour into a pucket then add around 8 liter of warm tap water.

Add washing soda and stirr to disolve.

Add borax and stirr till it disolves too.

Keep stirring for around 5 minutes.

Cover the bucket and leave it night long or around 10 hours.

You can leave it smell less or add 1 tsp of essential oil with your favorite smell.

Stirr again and pour the produced gell into suitable containers.

Shake well before using every time. Use 1/2 a cup for coloured clothes and a full cup for white or clothes with stains. You won't get sud, but that doesn't mean no cleaning. Suds are not the thing that cleans in detergents.
So..............

Green products are biobased products made of natural chemicals that have no bad effect on our health, especially when it comes to make up which is on most of young girl's skin, and I believe that lip gloss which is widely used goes into guts with foods and drinks as I haven't seen many girls removing their gloss to eat. So it's safer to make gloss from edible materials which cause no harm and give the bright look that every pretty girl likes to see on her face :). Of course makeup based on man-made chemicals aren't healthy and might lead to big problems. One of these problems is cancer. I hope that you've got my point and have recognized how serious it is to make sure that we're not harming ourselves and we can have fun using natural products to make our makeup and we can control the colour too. On time you'll be experienced.

Our big issue when summer is close and weather is starting to become a bit hot in many spots in the world is "sweat". I believe that sweating is healthy and many deodrants help preventing secretion of sweat for hours so you get no bad smellall the day long.

Why is it important to sweat?
Sweating is a very important function of our bodies accomplishing such things as cooling our bodies and releasing toxins.

Why is sweat beneath arms having a bad smell?

The sweat in the Apocrine glands "beneath your arms" is made the same way as that of the Eccrine glands "in the dermis skin layer every where else in your body" but the composition is different. It contains proteins and fatty acids which makes it thicker and sometimes yellowish. Contrary to popular belief sweat is not odorous, it is a metabolic process between bacteria and proteins and fatty acids.

So our issue here is bacteria and not sweat! We need to fight bacteria without preventing sweat from being secreted as it helps our bodies to get rid of unwanted materials which might be bad for our health.

Now I'll take you directly to the recipe "I know I talked too much here but I had to let you know how important not to buy those products that prevent sweating for a long time"

Do you prefere butter? I know that you might prefere butter because it adds a special taste to your meals. I agree with you, but why don't you try margarine as an alternative, it's not only because it's more economical alternative for butter, but you might find it good too. You won't believe that you can do it simply at home! Yes, all you need is palmaline "palm fat", some vegetable oil "corn oil or sunfloweroil", milk and egg yolk.

Recipe of home made margarine

You need

60 g palm fat

40 g sunflower oil "or corn oil"

2 tbsp fresh milk

An egg yolk or 1 tbsp pasteurized egg yolk powder

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp lemon juice

Procedure

Heat palm fat till it melts only and put it in a bowl

Add sunflower oil

Put the bowl in a bowl of iced water to cool down

Use a whisk to mix very well (you can use a hand mixer on low speed)

Add milk, lemon juice, salt and egg yolk and keep mixing till you get a smooth spread.

Store margarine in a plastic box in the fridge.

It's fun to make your own soap, using safe materials. The most dangerous material in making soap is "lye", it might burn your skin if you're not very careful. The role of dye is for combining with fats to form a salt "soap" in a process called saponification. We can reuse ivory soap to make our own herbal soap safely :)

All we need to do is shredding ivory soap using an ordinary shredder, and to get our favorite herb like chamomile, lavender flower or mint.

Steps

Soak 2 tbsp dried favorite powdered herbs in a cup of boiled water for 30 minutes.

Add few drops of your favorite essential oil of your favorite scent.

Boil then pour over 2 cups of shredded ivory soap.

Add few drops of food colour (green for mint, purple for lavender and yellow for chamomile soap)

Mix very well and pour into greased molds then leave in a cold place for about half an hour.

Take the soap bars out of mold and leave it to dry for at least 2 days and enjoy :)

When I was a kid, we used to colour eggs with some dyes that were very bright and joyable, but sadly that wasn't healthy. We stopped colouring for a long time, and for years we used stickers to decorate eggs in Easter, but it wasn't that fun. I decided to search and made many trials till I could replace dyes by natural colours coming from food. Now I can enjoy colouring Easter eggs with my kids safely, I hope you too use my recipe to have fun without worrying about side effects from using artificial dyes.
You can use the petal it self to draw on boiled white eggs, or boil hibiscus in water for a couple of minutes then put boiled eggs into coloured water, the wonder here is the colour of hibiscus is red but as long as it touches the egg shell it becomes purple :)

You don't need to leave it for a long time because it sticks immediately, that's why I have to tell you that you must put your apron on.

For dark brown colour

Very simple! Just boil some tea leaves and boil eggs with them. You can control the degree by adding more or less tea leaves.

For green colour

Use minced spinach or parsley. Boil in water for 10 minutes adding 1 tsp vinegar, then boil eggs in coloured water for more 5 minutes.

For orange colour

Use onions peel. Just take the dry skin of onion and boil in a pan. Don't forget 1tsp vinegar. Boil for 10 minutes then add eggs and boil for more 5 minutes. Leave it aside to cool down, then take eggs out of coloured water and put on a kitchen towel.

For yellow colour
