A team of eight adrenaline junkies, looking for the ultimate in paintball thrills, are blindfolded and taken to a rendezvous point in the middle of a remote forest. The game is on when the group is immediately ambushed and under enemy fire from all directions. But something doesn’t feel right. Dual Boot XP & Mac OS X Tiger

I’ve tried to setup dual boot xp & Mac OS X Tiger ( JaS 0sx86 10.4.8 ) on Toshiba Tecra laptop and is works. But unfortunately some of the hardwares are not functional under Mac OS X, such as wireless, bluetooth, and audio.

Before installation, we need to make sure that the system support SSE2 instruction & backup your important data. We can use tools like CPU-Z, Everest, and etc to check.

Next, we need to create a partition for Mac OS X. If there is only 1 partition appear on the system, we can use tools like Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director Suite to create extra partition. We can just format the partition as FAT32.

Then, place the Mac OS X dvd on the system, enter bios, disable Multi Core & boot from dvd. Ignore those command lines appear on the screen, and it will brings u to the setup page of Mac OS X. Select your desire language. Enter Disk Utility menu to reformat the FAT32 to Mac file format before proceed for installation.

If not using Acronis OS Selector, the default Darwin bootloader will be used where after boot in, u will directed to Mac OS X. Since the boot up process is very fast, user will not be able to select Window XP. What we need to do is to edit the

Open up terminal, type below command:

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

Add following entry :

Graphics Mode

1280x768x32@75 –> Screen resolution

Timeout

10 –> How many seconds

After that, save the file & reboot. On next reboot, u will have enough time to select which OS u prefer, and the Mac resolution will be changed.

We can see that the 1st partition contains serial number of HDD is the Window XP partition.

Cannot Start Windows XP

When you try to start or restart your Windows XP-based computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE

This problem is due to the registry hive corrupted. To resolve this issue without reinstalling Window XP, we can use recovery console. Insert Window XP CD, boot from CD and enter recovery console mode.

Under recovery console mode, select your partition that contain window xp.

Type cd system32\config , and then press ENTER.

Type dir system , and then press ENTER.

If you cannot run the preceding command successfully (because the file is missing), skip to step 3. If you can run the preceding command successfully, type ren system system.bak , and then press ENTER.

NOTE : If the message that you received referred to the software file, replace “system” with “software” in the preceding command. For example, you would type ren software software.bak (instead of ren system system.bak ), and then press ENTER.

Type copy c:\windows\repair\system , and then press ENTER.

NOTE : If the message that you received referred to the software file, replace “system” with “software” in the preceding command. For example, you would type copy c:\windows\repair\software (instead of copy c:\windows\repair\system ), and then press ENTER.

You should receive a “One file copied” informational message.
