I should say that I am missing the other side, the market side! This is the work of the manager and I think while I am always concentrate more on creating new music, I am missing this ability to develop the market. MySpace.com and all the other sites serve me well but it is time to attack a more physical market (clubs, iTunes, BeatPort and maybe music stores).

I though about it and I concluded that I need a good manager! Why good? Well because I am a bit afraid of this kind of relationship since we heard so many horror story! The artist seems to be so much exploited usually that I am some "reticences". But I know it is possible to have a success story as well when the relationship is strong between the artist and the manager and when the manager is really appreciate what we are doing in believe in the potential of success! Well, I do not expect to find a "René Angelil" but kind of will be fantastic!

So in 2008, I am looking for a manager! Are the one? If you think so, please let me know and we should meet to discuss real business!

Infinité and We Like You remasterized

I finally succeed to remasterized my albums Infinité and We Like You. This year, for the Holidays, we decided to celebrate on the theme of 70's and it was a success. Lot of people was costumed and I decided to put my personal touch with the music. 4 hours of relax songs for the dinner that I prepared in advance while eating with the family. Than, I put my fingers on my mixer to create a several hours evening (until 4:30 am) of disco music.

To be honiest with you, this was the first time I moved with my DJ equipement and you can be sure that it is not the last because the experience was a real success! Everybody had loved what I created! But all those 260 songs downloaded from iTunes to represents the 70's bring me a lot of material and I should say that I am now ready for any wedding! This is not what I expected at the beginning of my exposure but life bring some surprises sometime!!! ;-))

More than 4 hours of mix for New Year Eve

Dear fans,

I am preparing a blast of mix for the New Year Eve and I hope to publish the final mix online (through my own space on Cyberfyb.com). Of course, we still both learning from our perspective and that's why it is so fun to be partner in this fabulous experience. DJ FYB is an entity but it is also a big project that involve participation from more than just me!

They announced a snow storm yesterday, for late in the evening but I decided to not take a chance and when my siste arrived, I propose to drive right away to a specific spot I had in mind. The first spot was the corridor under the "Caisse du dépot" and "Palais des congrès". This corridor has very modern and interesting "décor". I can tell you that I was a bit confuse for the first photos. Some people was passing sometime and I had to avoid their look to stay concentrated - but I was determine to do that and I knew I had to play a bit with my nerves. Don't forget that my force is the music, not the photos!!! But I think it was not so bad at the end!!! For those first photos, I weared a kind of cowboy shirt with Harley-Davidson boots.

Than we went for couple "intello" photos (as I called it). I went change my clothing in a washroom for a more "intellectual" look and put my glasses. I took couple photos on one of the brown leather sofa inside the open area of the "Caisse du dépot". But after couple minutes of shooting, a security guard came to us to ask if we had an authorisation to do this - to do the shooting. We replied that it was "for a school project" (I anticipated this before and told my sister that it's gonna be our reply if somebody ask). She told us that it is not possible to do this. Just to do a parenthesis here: the "Caisse de dépot" is a building we pay with our taxes so I guess everybody can have the rights to use some of the "décor" to inspirate a photos shooting! No?

Anyway, we were not there to fight and packed our stuff right then to go back to the corridor and went more under the "Palais des congrès" which has an interesting brick/cement wall with an adjacent yellow wall. We took couple photos there and went upstair to the "Palais des congrès" to make few very artistic shots inspired by my sister-photograph where I was shooted the other side of a blur window. It is effectivaly very artistic as it is very difficult to recognize who is it but if put in a certain context; i guess it can be very nice!

Time to lunch (in the middle of the afternoon!), I though the Shed Café were a good place to eat, drink and maybe take few shots as well and it was! I asked the waitress when she took our order if it was alrigh to take some photos and whe replied "no problem". A bit after she asked why we are taking some photos and it was funny trying finding the right words without being too much but giving enough to understand the context. I guess I was searching in my mind too much 'cause it is my siste who responded to her question: "we are taking photos of him because he is doing music and he needs photos for marketing". Good cue sister!

Than we went back to my home where we ended the session with some last shoots!

It was a very-very good first session where I learn how to work closely with my sister; I learn also to develop tricks with "pose" while we don't want a "fashion style", neither a "search style" but something more artistic and - if possible - close to what is "music". So I learn that it is much more difficult to find the right "pose", light, "décor" and attitude. I would understood for 1 or 2 days down but it's been a week now and this is absolutely not normal and days after days I lost confident about this service.

As a remember, Sound Cast is (was) specialize to distribute your songs over the big network (iTunes, Yahoo Music, Wall Mart, Best Buy, Rhapsody and many more - see my previous blog to learn more).

If anybody is knowing a good tool to do this let me know. In the meantime, I will check to subscribe directly with those "big names" on the network.

Have a nice monday to all of you!

DJ FYB
w: http://myspace.com/djfyb
w: http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb
E: djfyb@cyberfyb.com

My Hero will have a new version

Dear fans,

I have now 3 songs under development as I started a new version of My Hero yesteray evening. I started to "play" with the microphone and started to sing the lyrics of My Hero while the studio was recording and than applied some FX there and there and a beat and - wow - a new version born! I am not enough satisfy to put it in the LAB SONG and I bet it will go directly to the official PLAYLIST soon. It will be part of the album Infinité (do not forget that the album Infinité is now a double CDs album).

As for SONG021 and SONG020, they can be expected before December 2007. SONG021 might appear a bit before SONG020 but we never know as they are really in process to be finished. Do I confuse anybody here! ;-)

I've been asked by PromoteMySong.com to send them a good photo of me with a short description/bios as they want to put me on the front page of their site. I will dig in my photos but I still waiting on my sister who is a professional photographer to make a "shooting session"! I guess I will have to reinforce my request to my lovely little sister (and one of my biggest fan by the way)! In the meantime and because I am short in time to deliver what PromoteMySong.com asked me, I will find a nice "portrait" in my previous photos! I will let you know when everything will be settle with PromoteMysong.com.

I wish you a very good friday 'cause friday has been created to be good!

Ciao!

DJ FYB
http://myspace.com/djfyb
E: djfyb@cyberfyb.com

SONG LAB is now on MySpace

Dear fans,

You will certainly be happy to learn that I put the SONG LAB on MySpace's profile. Only for you and because I love you - but also because the official web site is presently under development - I decided to give you back this unique feature I propagate when I am advancing on the development of a new song. The SONG LAB is a preview of what it's coming and it is not very common on the market to retrieve this kind of philosphy as everybody is trying to hide until the end the famous next song! I am absorbing comment while I am finishing the song - is it not the best way to build a song? Maybe yes; maybe not but for sure, it is more fun to do in that way than hiding you songs that you might found "boring"!

So continue to let me know what you thing and I will deliver you what you want. Of course, everything I do have my essence so don't worry, I am always part of what I deliver!!! LOL!

Hope you a very good Wednesday where is snowing like hell in Montreal! First snow storm of the season and they announced 15 to 30 centimeters of snow! This guy is simple and very talentful (which means that he does not have a huge head as some artist pretend to have sometime). We spoke about equipement and I was glad to be informed about it since I am a bit new in the industry. He helps me to understand what can be my next purchase in order to be more professional and also to help me creating in the way I want to do it! For an example, some trick I done are "out-of-date" as it exists tools from professional equipement to do it more adequately and with less "headick" of adjustments!!!

So his suggestions went to Pro Tools, CuBase and Reason! Right now I am using FruityLoops 7 to do my songs but, according to what he says, this program is not well recognize by the industry. Maybe it is a bit snobish from the industry but you cannot just listening somebody told you that without verifying what the pesron says and this is exactly what I did after. I think I know now why the industry does not recognize very well FruityLoops: simply because everybody is using Pro Tools and if you create your song and arrangement with Pro Tools, you can send it to anybody who is using Pro Tools - including recording company - and it is stay as it is. Well, this is something that any manufacturer can do - I think. But like any market, people adopt a standard and the standard in the professional industry of music is Pro Tools. So I will adopt the standard but probably just at the beginning of Winter 2008 as I need at least $1,500 to purchase the right equipement for Pro Tools and I am now in a period of income taxes which cost me a lot!!! ;-))

In the meantime, I will start to leanr CuBase as I have a LE version that came with my E-MU 0404 sound card. And I will also start to learn how to use Reason with the demo version until I buy it!

This might generate a little delay before my next song but for sure, it will be much more better after!

A revolution is coming! Stay tunes!

DJ FYB
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb

E: djfyb@cyberfyb.com

Choosing a label - A very nice article I found on the NET

Just to let you know about an article I found on the NET. I decided to push the "machine" in order to start to make some money. In fact, I spent few thousand dollars since last spring just to make music. Don't get me wrong, I love what I am doing but if I want to be fine with my expenses, I need now to start making money in order to buy more sophisticated equipements. All this is too grow better and offer better music at the end!

So I searched on Google to find a distributor to be published on iTunes and I found SoundCastMusic.com who offers to be distributed on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, eMusic, Rhapsody, Yahoo! Music, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Real, Beatport, PassAlong, Groupie Tunes, F.Y.E., OD2/Nokia, MTV/VH1 and Puretracks. The songs must appears on those web sites in 4 to 6 weeks from now. SoundCast is not stop the artist to sell elsewhere because they are just a distributor of music. So I decided to plug myself with those two stores: Musicane.com and MusicFreedom.com.

Sincerely, I hope it will work because I would love to consider music as a job and not just a hobby anymore. But my passion will always remains!

It is strange to say it but feel free to buy my music in encouragement of my work if you like it! Of course and because I am a good guy, I will always work with promotional aspect of my work and if you are a DJ and would like to spin me, do not hesitate to contact me at djfyb@cyberfyb.com 'cause I will supply you with the songs you wish to have for FREE!!!

Thank you for your support!

DJ FYB

W: http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
W: http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb

E: djfyb@cyberfyb.com

I'm sick but not dead!!!

Hi fans,

yes I am sick as I catched cold! But, I am alive and - strangely speaking - full of energy at the same time as I boosted myself with vitamins, syrup, vicks and some neo citran as well! This seems to help me enjoying my situation! But I am staying at home to work more in confort and - more precisely - to not affect any co-worker with my own cold!

Anyway, enough of the virus! About music: I re-touched "What I Want" yesterday evening for a better sense (for me) of it! I hope you will like the touch I did on this song and - to be honiest with you - I prefer it like this than before!

MySpace is giving me a bit of job as friends are line-up those days!!! More than 100 new friends in 3 days! Wow! Thank you to all of you for your support!!!

And about the Musicane's portal to sell my music; well, I need to do money now in order to evoluate properly in the world of music and I think it is time to switch myself to full-time in music in the near future! Anyway, the price is cheap to buy (compare to some songs I saw on Internet which was more like $1.50 to $2.00 USD per song). This portal is also good for reseller so if you want to sell my music, do not hesitate as I put the commission a bit higher (15% instead of 10%). And for the DJ who would like to spin me, please let me know 'cause I have a special site for you to download my song. I just need your name and email to track who play me! This still free!

On that, I wish you all a very great Tuesday!

Ciao fans!

DJ FYB
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
djfyb@cyberfyb.com

eSnips went down over the week-end!

Dear fans,

If any of you experimented the "no songs" in the music player on my site it is because my supplier - eSnips.com - have been down all over the week-end. The service came back late yesterday evening. As far as I am concerns by this service, it is the first time I experience this kind of interuption; in fact, I never experienced any interuption from that service. But the world is not perfect and the service is now back normally! I make advantage of this interuption to progress on the new version of the official web site of DJ FYB. But I did not finish it over the week-end and that's why I am very glad to have retrieve the eSnips.com' service.

What is eSnips?

eSnips is a social content-sharing site, where you can publish and share any media type. You have practically unlimited flexibility in choosing what you want to share, and with whom, in 5GB of free space.
eSnips is the one place where you can share anything you want, about any topic: your thoughts, your photos, your music, your videos, your flash files, stuff you find on the web, and many other media types. Once you create different folders for each of your passions and interests, you decide what files to put in each folder, and you control who is allowed to view each folder – just you, a select group, or the world.

Browse around a bit, with eSnips you can discover new content and people who share your interests.

---

So the week-end was focussing on Marketing as I was responding to every new friend I've got on MySpace (more than 60 new friends since last friday). The site was strugling a bit during the week-end, I notice some latencies sometime but since MySpace.com is big, I guess somebody was in-the-house to tune it for absorbing heavy traffic (I guess that's what might have affect the service). And Capazoo.com is growing day-after-day! I received a new friend request everyday (practically). I cannot says how many members Capazoo.com should have at this moment - 'cause I just don't know! - but the site has been launched one month ago - but the site is growing and we can feel it very well; I can feel it very well! I wish them a long life cause the way they did the site is "super"! I also want to start writing some editorials for the Capazine (the magazine of Capazoo.com) as they invite the members to submit their own text. But I prefer to wait a bit as I want the site grow again!

I also make advantage of my week-end to finish Turbulance which is now available online from the regular music player. You can listen it from http://djfyb.net/ or via the eSnips player on http://www.MySpace.com/djfyb. Yesterday I went to my bed thinking I had finish What I Want also but what I hear this morning irritate me a bit so I need to apply some little tune-up on that song before considering it finished! Sorry dear fans for that impulsivity of my part!!! ;-))

And as for the song in LAB (Catch My Love), I am at the point where the song got into a kind of chaos but I will figure it out this week!

I have to go to my father next week-end and this mean I have to make sure I have all my songs written on CD because this is what he asks as he was impress by my "hard-work" last time I see him. This is good for me because if my father is interested into my music, this means I succeed to accomplish at least the level of the family (more members of my family are actually encourage me proudly). But he did not have anything about my music yet and since it was his birthday recently, I intend to give him a kind of "coffret" of my songs! So I will have to work on this because I still did not find any supplier to do CD cover printing. But I got a new printer that suppose to be better for doing such a job like that!

I wish to all my fans (and the others if any) a very good monday!

DJ FYB

House - Trance - Tribal - Dance
Experimentation of music!

http://djfyb.net/
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb

E: djfyb@cyberfyb.com
E: francoisyanick@hotmail.com
Skype: cyberfyb

SONG LAB: Turbulance is coming

I am presently working on a new song as some fans probably already notice. This web site is Canadian and offer a new way to be rewards for the hard job we are doing with our songs or any multimedia file produced in order for a web distribution (such as MP3). The site use ZOOPS as Capazoo Dollars. You can buy some and tips what you like while navigate through content of profiles. But that is also means that people can do the same with your content. So people can just tips a sentance, a blog, a profile, an entire album or a single song! This is very direct expression of satisfaction! 1 ZOOP = $0.01 USD.

My profile is http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb.

=:-P

DJ FYB

Inspired vacation: South Africa and Europe

I just returned from a long trip the other side of the world! From Montreal to London (England), passing by Paris to land at Jo'Burg (Johannesburg) in South Africa.

My journey started with 2 days in this weird city of multiple towns! Nothing can be close as every town are separated by mountains or big parks or anything empty that make the distance wider!

But I finally went to Nelspruit to shop for a safari. While being their, I've been attacked by black peoples who stoll my little waist-bag. Unfortunately, I had my camera and passport in that bag as I was shopping for a safari and I knew they need the real passport and not a photocopy! Plus few money and couple other things! A jackpot for them that day as it was exceptional that I have so much money on me (in terms to pay the safari for 3 days). Anyway, an experience I will never forget but from which I learn a lot on myself and how to change my way to travel now!

Than, Krueger for 3 days and nights, in the middle of the park. To explore the habitat of Big Fives (Rhinoceros, Lion, Leppard, Elephant and Buffalo). But there is much more than just the Big Fives: Giraffes, Impalas, Wild Dogs, Hippopotamus, Crocodiles, and much much more! It was kool to see the animals of Africa in their natural environment.

Than, went straight to Pretoria to get a new Passport from the Canadian Amabassee. It tooks 2 days to finalize the process. Pretoria is nice but still a city of the North of SA - I mean it still dangerous to walk during the night.

After Pretoria, I went to Cape Town directly with the Sleepliners' bus. The bus got overheat 2 hours before arriving at Cape Town. The place was a big valley of "vignobles". What a nice place to stop while waiting for another bus! We drank few bottle of wines and I can tell you that it was good wine at the cost of the farmer!

And than Cape Town! Wow! This town cut the country in half as the ambiance is so more relax. But it still South Africa so don't get too tricky as we still have to be very carefull.

One week in Cape Town! The landscape of that city is incredible with Table Mountain and Lion Head in background as well as the 12 Apostles mountains. A mix of Monaco, Rio and Old Quebec cities.

I return with KLM from Cape Town to Amsterdam where I passed one night (friday night) with friends from Montreal who came joined there. But because of the early flight from Paris to Montreal on sunday morning, we decided to return to Paris on saturday and have a night there.

All this travel got me a lot of inspiration and it should be reflected very soon dear fans!!!

;-))

DJ FYB
http://djfyb.net
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb

Working on a new song with lyrics

I start to be very exciting to go in vacation in couple days (next friday) and my mind is boiling to accomplish as much as possible. I was finishing my last song and already started a new one (never want to finish, only sleep can me out of my creativity moment!) and than, I say to me: "Why not to put some lyrics! It's been a while since the last song with lyrics. Freedom as been the last one and now I developped some better technics in music, I guest I can go ahead with more serious stuff!". What as been said as to be proceed! And here I will come soon with a new song with voices - mine with different effects!

In fact, I ask myself if it is possible to duplicate our own voice until creating a group of singer. That will be very nice to try as I have some ideas about it and it is always kool to hear kind ot "back vocals" on a song! I guess I will have to play with my voice a bit!

But at this moment, I have a little problem as I need to buy a microphone and since I only have 3 full days of thousands tasks to do before my vacation, I think I will have to wait until my return (where I should have a lot of draft page of future music as I expect to get a lot of inspiration while I will visit the extraordinary country of South Africa).

Just as a scoop, the next song with Lyrics will be called "I'm trying to touch you" and yes emotions will be more present this time but with character for sure. Stay tune!

DJ FYB

Special entry point for DJ (promotion area)

This is just to record one of my idea while I am redesigning my official web site (http://djfyb.net). I would like to add an area where DJ will be able to login (the login will help me to identify what people are doing in terms of personal stats. I am not a police but a programmer who would like to know more about the traffic of my own songs!). Once they logon, they will have access to all my songs and will be able to dowload them, as well as arts that come with it (such as album cover and more).

I expect to create a new way to promote myself. But to be honiest, I am also strugling with a comment from a pianist I know well who told me that I should not offer my songs as free as I am not helping the industry by doing that. So I might have to create a section as well where people (general public) will be able to buy online my songs for a minimal fees (something around $0.99 CAD per song). This can be process easilly through Paypal so I can program all this. But it takes time that I am running after right now! We never now, maybe I can find some little time to accomplish part of it before my vacation in South Africa.

Also I would like to create a more customized area for medias as well. Those people need to have access to kind of package. So I can build a kind of "pot-pourri" of each album in case they would like to put it on their web site.

And to accomplish my idea, I also want to offer rythm sequences. Those will be just beats to use in mix mode while DJing.

A lot of thing to do as you can see. It seems that my passion of music is getting bigger and bigger week after week! But one day, I might justify all those sacrifices I am doing right now on the name of this passion! Yes I sacrify time with people I love and yes I sacrify time with myself to do something else than being in my studio! But I cannot say I am suffering too much right now as I have very understandable people around me and I should also say that I am pretty confortable with myself while playing in my studio! But life is not just that so I expect to get more! I'm ambitious as you can see! And I believe in my future!

If you have any comment about this, please let me know. After all, you are the public and you are the one who should ask what they want!

DJ FYB
http://djfyb.net
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
djfyb@cyberfyb.com

Now I'm well equipped!

I decided to jump last week and to offer me a new sound card that goes into the professional inventory of music. Well, maybe not too much but still, it is a step forward. I bought the E-MU 0404 USB from Creative, a nice model that afford my needs in music - for now!

I also decided to go with a Numark CD MIX 1 as I was really cravin (recently) to mix but I had a hard time to do it with my Hercules Console. Now with the right stuff, it sound much more great and much more easy (seriously). I practice all the week-end to get the right tempo between songs and stay tune 'cause you might have to listent o me in your next party! Nah!

But I will start by my vacation before doing anything crazy in the world of music. In fact, I expect to write some songs and get new inspiration from the root as I will visit South Africa in less than 3 days!

I do not know if I will have a lot of occassion to use Internet there but if I have few moments sometime, I might send you, dear fans, my salutations from there!

DJ FYB
http://djfyb.net
http://www.myspace.com/djfyb
http://www.capazoo.com/djfyb
djfyb@cyberfyb.com

Party tonight

I am doing a party tonight for my colleagues at work and will actually play several of my songs over the evening to entertaint them (my colleagues). I will evaluate their reactions and will readjust from then about the music.

It's been a long time now since the last time I use my songs to entertaint.

On top of that, it's gonna be a wireless night because I equipped my house with a Music Bridge from Linksys wich is part now of my Wireless network. Everything works fine and tonight will be the "finale test" with my guests!

But as you can read, I'm a bit nervous 'cause this is the first time I will receive my new colleagues at home! Let's call it multi-buzz, like a bee who have many-many things to do!!! ;-))

But you know me, always be there and there and never want to miss my inspiration. So time-to-time I touched the studio with some ideas - often at the extreme end of my evening (result as midnight).

Yesterday, like a final day of the week to close big issues over the week (as I did with my business' accounting in fact), I decided to go over all my songs in LAB. Wow! I can tell you that: my inspiration was not sleepy!!! No! No! In a contrary, I was pretty awake and creative so finally posted 5 songs online and created my news release. But than, I discovered another "never finished" song in my LAB and decided to put another magic touch on it to release "her"!!! I called this new song In Orbit Aroung Gliese 581 as I always wanted to do a song for that planet. It inspired me since we heard is existence from News (click here to learn more about Gliese 581). If you're use to read me, you probably understood that Space is one of my favourite subject and interest as well!!!
