It’s been a little slow here at work, I have only one item in my in-box at work, so let’s check and see what could possibly be in my personal In-Box, the one from which the Jewels are extracted for you here.

The main reason why my posts here have been so brief recently is I have been very busy at work and as many of you know, I blog on my down-time here because there are just too many other activities (Mafia Wars, Age of Empires, Bejeweled, etc.). Enough of me as just getting warmed up to share what’s in my box. You see, if the keys are being punched and slapped around, I stay under the radar -- only if my thoughts can keep up with my fingers.

Funk Sanctum Radio Now Limits Listeners

Dear Listeners, Supporters, Beloved Artists in Rotation:
Sadly today Funk Sanctum Radio has now been reset to "zero" ad-free listeners which means that there is no more free ride. You must sign up for a live365.com account to receive the Funk Sanctum listening adventure 24/7 online and on your smart devices.
I will open Funk Sanctum Radio when listening hours go down. This seems backwards; however, Funk Sanctum is classified as a "small" pro station whereby I can adjust the amount of free listeners from anywhere from 0 to 100. As a result, some listeners have been listening 24/7 for the past few months. This is a great thing on the one hand because someone is enjoying my selections; however, now I am dangerously close to going over my allotted monthly 1200 hours and will then incur more charges on top of my existing fees. This decision breaks my heart; however, my station is a "free" service to you, and I have not budgeted an increase.

Electronic duo Rendezvous follow up their underground hit "C Sharp" with a slice of smart, leftfield electro in their new single "The Murf." Another track from their now eagerly awaited debut album, Another Round Please, the song has already made headlines including on CBS news thanks to a stunning video that has gone viral (clocking up 150,000 views and counting in the space of a couple of weeks): Video "The Murf" - A Story about Growing Up In the Universe.

“Accompanied by a series of remixes, The Murf is expected to be a big club chart success. Carl Cox recently featured the band on a 2CD compilation for Space wherein he included one of the two remixes he contributed to their last previous. This time around, John Digweed, Nick Muir, Loverush UK! and Timothy Allan are on remix duties. With massive coverage already in place on key radio shows, including Funk Sanctum Radio, and from the likes of tastemaker's bible, DJ Mag, Rendezvous' popularity is only expected to grow further with The Murf.”

Today is a good day, no a great day. Don’t know how I got around to them today, but was thinking of the Armchair Generals because they are my neighbors: They are from Long Beach and I am in San Pedro. I wrote a little something about them when I first heard of them but it needed to be revisited and elaborated upon.

So, today here it is the free download from their forthcoming EP on the Davidance label. That’s how we learned of Armchair Generals in the first place because I get notifications from Ahead PR which is what Davidance uses. I wonder if they will use Ahead PR on their upcoming new release. I will investigate and let you know.

“A great mix of soulful expressions and emotive organic rhythms,” said Marc LaCasse, “The subtle touches of soul and electronic are just the icing on the cake.”

The Armchair Generals have recently partnered with Altitude Media Inc. to premier their entire 2010 EP on US Airways flights. Along with an interview with the band’s lead vocalist and bassist Pernicia Jaye, Armchair Generals music will be heard on over 3,000 national and international US Airways flights with a potential to reach over 600,000 passengers throughout November and December.

The independent artists from Long Beach were recently nominated for two SoulTracks 2011 Readers' Choice Awards in the categories of Best Duo or Group and Best New Artists. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for the band’s upcoming profile on Bandcamp.
